Your Career Is More Than A To-Do List
©
2002 By Deborah Brown-Volkman
How many items do you have on your to-do list? Does it
empower you to look at your list, or are you drained before
you even start your day?
A to-do list can help you get organized and focused. But,
ask yourself this: Are you controlling your to-do list or is
your to-do controlling you?
If you are controlled by your to-do list, and your sanity
depends on the number of items you check off your list, then
it may no longer be a useful tool anymore. Instead, it may
be a source of stress and frustration, and it is probably
standing in the way of you achieving what you want in your
career.
Career wise, this has been a very tough time for many of us.
We are either trying to recover from the shock of being let
go from careers we gave years of loyal service to, or are
screaming for help because we are overworked and
overburdened with the amount of time and energy is
takes to do the work of the people who are no longer there.
We are busier than ever. It's not enough to have huge
day-to-day responsibilities, but we also have our career
dreams to contend with.
So, How Can We Fit It All In? Follow The Following Steps
