Community Overview
As with any
business, the determining factor in its success is going to be how well
and how quickly it listens and responds to its consumers or customers. Very often there is a
large gap in between customers and the company. The Adlandpro.com
Community was developed to address this issue while simultaneously
providing its members with a more personalized means of interacting with
potential customers and fellow-business owners. Since its launch
in early 2004, the Adlandpro.com Community has experienced exponential grown in
terms of activity and number of registered members which is impressive
to say the least and we're expecting even greater growth in 2005. If you haven't been back in a while, it may be
time to come visit us again and take advantage of the great changes and additions
we've made. Here is a broad overview of the Adlandpro Community
Features:
Profiles - Our user profiles give other
members a chance to find out more about you and a chance for you to tell
people more about yourself. Upload your photo and put a face to
your name, share your interests/hobbies, display your company website
address, make a mini webpage, manage friends and much more!

Forums -
Discussions boards allow our members to discuss topics of their
choosing. Discuss current events, share success stories, offer
tips and advice, promote your business, and more.
Public & Personal Networking Channels
- Through our networking section, you can interact with individuals on a
public channel so people can view your conversation or securely in a
private channel if you so desire. Post and review offers and
requests for products or services. The control is yours.
Ubifone - If
you want that added personal touch, activate a Ubifone account and be
heard as well as seen. The Ubifone component when activated will
allow you to connect with other Ubifone members so you can talk to each
other online in real time. The latest cutting edge technology
allows crystal clear audio connections over thousands and thousands of
miles. It's so good, you'll think they were in the next room.
Calendar -
Manage your time wisely. The Community calendar allows you to
schedule tasks and events for yourself and program reminders to be sent
to your email a specified period before the event so you don't forget.
Stats - You may
have noticed something a little different the last few weeks with your
profile. If you haven't visited your (or a
fellow-community-member's) profile in a while, have a peak now.
Several new statistics
have been added to the "Stats" page on profiles. Namely:
- How active you are
in actual forums
- How many people
you are blocking
- How many people
are blocking you
- How many visits
you've received to your profile
Although in its primary
stages at the moment, there are plans to develop this rating system into
a more robust rating structure which will give other members further
insight into what a person is like prior to declining/accepting their
proposal to become "friends". Stay posted in the new year for
these and other exciting new changes!
Mini Web Page - You can
create a small webpage for yourself and use it as part of your profile.
You can edit both in Visual Mode (Type and Save your page) or edit in
HTML Mode which allows you to enter raw code for more advanced website
programmers.
Free Web-Based Email
Adlandpro.com is now
offering free web-based email as part of our continued effort to provide
our members with useful tools to promote their business each and every
day. Take a minute and check out the "Email" tab now located in
your members section. (The very last tab on the right side of the
page) and if you don't have an adlandpro.com email account yet, you
might want to consider signing up for one!

Features Set to Launch
We're setting up for
some huge changes in '05 as the new year starts to kick into high gear.
Our programmers are hard at work developing and designing new features
for our members. Here's a taste of what's to come in the
next two weeks:
- Rating System
- See at a glance exactly who your friends are through our
rating system. The first implementation goes in within the
next two days. A scale/comment based rating structure will
allow people to rate community members. An instant email sent
to the rated party though will give them an opportunity to thank the
rater (or post a rebuttal if applicable).

Feature Article
Getting Started on the
Community
Being part of an community can be a very rewarding experience but if
you don't know where to start (How to get registered, set up profiles,
contact people etc.) then it can also be a very overwhelming and
confusing one. We want your experience in the Community to be a
positive one starting with your very first visit and moreover, we want
you to stay. To make sure that happens, here are some tips on how
to get rolling with the community.

Create/Update Your Profile
Your profile is the single most important part of being in a
community. With the Adlandpro Community Wizard, setting up a
profile is a snap. When you first click the "Networking" tab
from Adlandpro.com, you will be presented with the
Profile Wizard.
Follow each step and enter the correct information in the fields as
you go. Please do not leave any information you are not
comfortable sharing as this will be seen in your profile once your
member registration is complete.

Upload a Photo
A Picture Speaks A Thousand Words. Yours will too. If
you upload a photo, you will immediately gain some trust from many
of the members of the community. Plus it gives people the
chance to see what you look like. Don't be afraid to put one
up there. Besides, the silhouette that's used if you don't
upload a photo is very ugly.

Create a Web Page
You can have a mini-web page as part of your profile. You can
put little ads here for your company or whatever you like.
(Within reason of course). Those will little web-programming
experience will enjoy the easy "Type-and-Save" editor while the more
web-savvy may opt for the "View HTML" mode to enter code directly.
Whichever you choose is entirely up to you.
- Finish the
Wizard
Once you're done the wizard, you are now a member of the community.
So now what do you do? Well, for starters...

Check Out The
Forums
Here is where our members go to discuss whatever it is community
members discuss. We have topic categories here ranging from
Automotive to Health and Wellness. There's a topic for every
age range and every type of personality, male or female, it doesn't
matter. You'll find something here I'm sure you'll want to
share your opinions on. Click the topic of choice and select a
discussion to read or participate in. Did I mention you get
emails whenever there's new posts or replies to posts on each forum?

Find People
A Community can be a very big place if you don't know anyone .
You can do a People Find to find people who share your interests,
hobbies, or people from the same area as you. Click the
"People Find" link at the top of the page and enter some criteria.
This will bring up members who share your interests, live in your
area, work for a similar (or the same) company as you do, and other
criteria. Click on each link to view these members profiles.
- Make Friends
While you are on the forums or searching for people on the people
find, you can make these people your friends and put them on your
Friends List so that you can contact them easier without having to
search for them every single time. Click the "Invite To Be
Friends" link and make them your friend!
- Send Messages
When you have friends on your friends list, you can send them
messages directly over the Community. Click the "Send Message"
link to send messages to the currently selected friend. It's
Simple!
These 8 basic starting
points should help you on your way to becoming a known member on the
Community and help you make new contacts online. The next issue
will show you how to create and manage forums on the Community.
