From The Editor...

Hi Guys,

Michael here again.  Last week I had the pleasure of announcing the 1st Annual Adlandpro Community Business Mixer to be held likely sometime this year.  I'm seriously looking forward to this thing because I'm sure I'll get to finally meet several of you face to face.  Online, it's very rare to ever  have the chance to meet people in real life so meeting a hundred or more at once is pretty exciting!

Anyhow, a brief overview of this issue:  More blurbs on the community mixer, a quick note on the new enable/disable emails option in the forums menus, and a tribute to someone who we all knew and admired; Corey Rudl.

I hope you guys enjoy this issue!

Adlandpro Community Mixer Announced

If you did not get the last Special Adlandpro Announcement, I'm excited to report that Adlandpro Community is aiming to have a social event somewhere around the end of this year.  If the details seem a bit vague, that's because they currently are.  We wanted to poll you guys and see where/when you would like this whole thing to take place.  Judging by the polls, it looks like Orlando, CA in October '05 seems to be the popular choice.

So here's the short-n-long of it.  We're planning to get a bunch of you all together into the same room at once for a couple of days of business and socializing, music and dancing.  We're planning to have guest speakers and other forms of entertainment.  Bogdan and myself will be there along with our programmers so you can talk to us in person.  We'll keep you informed as more details become available and finalized.

If you haven't voted yet or you would like to see current results, you can click here to cast your vote.  Results are listed individually.

Tribute to a Legend.
By Michael Dela Cruz

Few of us can truly say we lived doing what we truly have a passion for.  Fewer still can say that we have had a profound impact on the world as a whole in a positive way.  And only a handful can claim that they are truly fulfilled in every area of their lives, spiritual, relationship, financial, emotional, physical.  There was however one man who could.

Corey Nicholas Rudl, 34 was man who lived his dreams every waking moment of every day.  He became the legend he was because he dared to take risks, travel the unbeaten path and reaped all the rewards he deserved.  Many might say that his passing was a great tragedy and while this is true in many regards, Corey passed on doing something he had a passion for.  While yes, it was early in his life that it happened, few people will, on before their final breaths, be able to say that they died doing something they love or that in their lives they have made such a profound impact on the world as to be completely fulfilled.  Our friend can...and that dear reader is not a tragedy at all.  It is in my eyes a victory.

He united a large online community of marketers, business owners, and average citizens behind the idea that it did not take a genius or years in a classroom to succeed in E-marketing and that it only took some creative thinking, following a few simple rules, the desire to succeed and will to work hard.   Now, the community that he left behind weeps today at the loss of one of the internet's greatest legends.  This is the tribute to the man who changed the face of Online Marketing forever and forever will be remembered as one of the "Greats" of internet marketing.

I thought I might take a few minutes here to post this article detailing the event so that those who still don't have the exact story may get it here now.

By Martin Henderson, Times Staff Writer , June 03, 2005

Two San Diego County men died when the Porsche they were racing crashed and caught fire Thursday morning at California Speedway in Fontana, authorities said.

Benjamin Miles Keaton, 39, and his passenger, Corey Nicholas Rudl, 34, both of La Jolla, died from injuries after Keaton lost control of a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT.

The car left the track, careened onto a grassy area and struck a barrier. The engine compartment then caught fire, according to a San Bernardino County sheriff's report.

On-site medical personnel, the same used for NASCAR and Indy Racing League events at the speedway, responded at 10:40 a.m. and quickly extinguished the fire, sheriff's officials said.

Rudl, who worked in Internet marketing, was pronounced dead at the scene; Keaton was airlifted to Loma Linda University Hospital, where he died about an hour later, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner's Office.

Both suffered multiple traumatic injuries, but neither suffered burns, said Supervising Deputy Coroner Randy Emon. The vehicle made a passenger-side impact at more than 100 mph. Both men were wearing helmets and safety belts, authorities said.

"The driver's side was in good shape, but the passenger side was obliterated," Emon said.

The accident occurred while the track was being rented by the San Diego chapter of the Ferrari Owners Club. Such events are common at the speedway; the facility is in use nearly 300 days a year for a variety of events, including track days by auto clubs and driving schools.

The men are the fourth and fifth fatalities at California Speedway since it opened in 1997.

Champ Car driver Greg Moore was killed during a race in 1999, and Ricky Lundgren died during competition at an AMA Superbike event in 2003. Another motorcyclist died during a track rental in September.

These forums have been hand-selected as top forums on the Community as a result of their activity, topic, number of participating members, number of posts etc.  They're definitely worth the look and a good starting point if you've never been to the forums before.  Check them out!

1.  Secure Your Identity

I found myself engrossed in this forum and how to protect yourself from identity theft.  With more and more digital identification methods coming into the marketplace and being used on a daily basis, it becomes critical that we arm ourselves with all the necessary information to keep our identities safe.  This forum started by Matthew Brown gives us a startling wakeup call and proves to us that sometimes up to 50% of the documented cases of identity theft crimes are committed by those who we know, love, and trust.

2.  The Heroes In My Life

Kathy Martin, a recent but extremely active member of our community has come to the table with many different forums and surprisingly quickly might I add.  She has recently created a forum which I was glad to read the posts because they were positive and happy all the way around.  Her forum, The Heroes In My Life discusses all of our heroes.  If you haven't checked it out yet, you should go.

3.  AdlandPro

Thanks go out to Mahlon Grube, who posted a question that sparked a very long debate and some very interesting posts.  The question was something to the effect of "Is the Adlandpro Community Good For Your Business?".  I found some yes's and some no's but overall I think the consensus was....well, visit the forum and decide for yourself.
