Community Demonstrates Amazing Strength and Support

Sadly, there's just never enough time in the day to surf our forums, keep abreast of everything that is happening on Adlandpro's Community, and complete my day-to-day work as well.

I came across 2 forums today (featured in the "Featured Forums" section) which made me stop for a moment thinking about what an amazing community we do  have.  It reminded me so much of the time our city (Winnipeg) was losing our NHL Hockey Team.  In time of great need, where large amounts of support were required, we banded together for a common purpose.  These two forums brought back such feelings and memories in me.

We have a very prominent member of our community whose son is serving in Iraq and another member of our community tragically has lost a son.  Another community member took it upon herself to rally everyone together to provide donations and support both physical, emotional, and monetary to these two members.  Equally as impressive is the number of support posts that were posted in a short period of time demonstrating just how much this community cares for one another.

These acts of kindness and generosity prove that our Community is so much more than many people "Showing Their Wares" so to speak but it is a body of real people who believe in the value of humanity and relationships.  Though I may have said this before, I want to express my thanks to all community members out there on behalf of myself and everyone here at Adlandpro for making Adlandpro Community such a wonderful place to be.

The Rumor Mill Churns...SMS? Ask An Expert Group?

NO this is not where I tell you the latest gossip on some of our members.  SHAME on you!  Actually, I just wanted to spill some beans on some things we've been discussing lately that may be added to our already awesome community sometime in the foreseeable future.

Bogdan, our programming team, and I over the past few days were doing some ground-scratching in the area of SMS or short-messaging-service as a possible enhancement for the Adlandpro Community.

If this happens, you'll be able to 'text message' your buddies in your buddy list and send a message right to their mobile phone.  How cool is THAT?  We can notify you of different things like birthdays, events, responses to ads, and more.  The possibilities are endless.  I'll keep you all posted.

Last but not least on the rumor mill, for a while now we've been noticing increased activity from several members of the community and Bogdan and I got to discussing how we could really put these exceptional members' talents into the spotlight.

So here's I what Bogdan and I thought of.  How about an "Ask an Expert" program?  Basically, up to 2 recognized community members can take ownership of a specific "Ask an Expert" forum and topic.  In return for fielding questions community rookies may have and welcoming them to our community, "Experts" forums would be listed on the Home Page of the Community, perhaps on emails sent out to new members as a resource, and other places on the site.  This would give "experts" great exposure for themselves and their businesses.    Here are a few topics we were thinking of creating:

  • Adlandpro Community General Help - New to the Community?  Find answers here.
  • Online Marketing and Business Help - Need a tip for getting started marketing online?
  • HTML and Basic Web Programming Help - Find basic tips on Web Programming here.
  • Peer Counseling - If you need someone to talk to...

And of course, we would still monitor these forums and be available if you should need assistance with certain questions or posts but for the most part, these would be your discussions to moderate.

I've created a discussion so that we can all get together and mold/shape this program to something we can all benefit from.  Please visit the link below and take a moment to share your ideas.

1.1  New Community Features

Happy Birthday Indeed!

One of the suggestions I received as the editor of the community news was to make birthdays easier to track and manage.  (By the way folks, mine is on the 15th of October and you can email me for the location of my gift registry.  HAHA!  Just kiddin')

*Ahem* anyways, back onto topic here.  You asked, we listened!  You can now go to your friends list and by clicking on the appropriate tab, you can sort your friends in one of two ways:

  1. Sort By Active Date - You will see which of your friends logged in most recently
  2. Sort By Birthday - You will see your friends list sorted by who has a birthday closest to today.

Hint: Send These People A Birthday Message.  When it is someone's birthday, you will see the little balloon icon animate with confetti.  When it does, click the little envelope icon in the friend's mini profile and wish them a Happy Birthday!  It's simple.

Your Forums on Your Profile

It's not easier than ever before to get involved in forums and discussions here on Adlandpro.  We have added a new section to your community profile marked "forums".  This tab, oddly enough, displays forums that you or the user whose community profile you're viewing has created.  Here's how you do it:

Find a profile on the community either by going to your friends list or clicking on the
"People Find" link at the top of the page.

Once you have a profile open, click the "Forums" tab and then choose a forum you wish to view/participate in and click the heading.  You will be taken to that user's forum.  In fact, you should all try this by clicking on Greer's Photo Below!

Don't Quit.
By David Holmes

Despite all its flaws and seamy sides, the Internet is a wonderful and exciting place. I love it. The Internet is becoming as common in most homes as television. Online shopping is expanding and so is online scamming. There seems to be an endless amount of 'millionaires' and 'gurus' willing to sell their secret to internet success. Isn't this just great news to all of us who want to make money in our sleep?

As one ad explained to me, "Why would I sell this secret when it's already made me $8 million?" Yeah, why would you do that? You don't need the money. Well, it's because..."I believe that giving it away is just wrong. It would cheapen the product. Besides, if your can't shell out $97 then you don't have what it takes anyway." See? Now that's logic! I knew there was a good reason. Note sarcasm. It's as logical as the gambler who says, "If you don't play you can't win." I wonder if the thought, "If you don't play you can't lose" ever crossed his mind?

I can only assume since 98% of ads I see on auto traffic exchanges and judging by the litter in my email, there must be some schmucks out there giving their money away. I might be in the wrong business. Why oh why do I have to be honest? I could be rich ya know, just scamming newbies and the lazy greedy people who want to wake up a millionaire. The only way this is gonna stop is if people quit buying this garbage. (I think the government is going to regulate these scams soon).

Look, honestly, most everything you need to know to be successful on the net is available for free. Find it. Google "free SEO" or "free webmaster secrets." Subscribe to some quality webmaster newsletters, and join some webmaster forums (AdLand Pro is tops, but of course you already know this). The biggest obstacle to making money on the net is time. Most people give up too early, and many just don't want to work. Well guess what? A website is work. If you can't handle it, instead of giving scammers your money, go buy lottery tickets. You have a much better chance at free money.

A while back I wrote an article called "The Secret Revealed" where I explained that the 'secret' to a successful website is to love what you're doing. Pick something you know about, build a website (after some studying) and put lots of tender loving care into it. And DON'T QUIT! If you have that website for 20 years you'll still learn something new everyday.

You'll sooner or later find lot's of people who like what your website is about. This will be your own niche. Doesn't common sense say if a company is giving away websites selling the same thing, your chances of success is nil? Be real, be yourself, believe in yourself. Oh, and DON'T QUIT!

Your website is supposed to be unique, your content should be on YOUR website, not a thousand others. Yes, of course, put up affiliate products to earn money, but the link won't sell anything, it's the content around the links that will sell the products. Use common sense, look at Google adsense for instance. If their ads were the same on every website they would not be in business. The ads are designed to change with the content of each website. Change. Content. Can I get a giant "DUH?"

Thank you for inviting me to your forum.

I do feel right at home here at Adlandpro. The best thing about this community is the fact that there are so many different people from all different walks of life and knowledge in so many different fields. If you need help in a certain area, there is usually someone willing to help you out. God is smiling down on all of you for this. I feel like I am a part of one big family here and that is a good feeling. Thank you all for your friendship. Admin here is great as they repsond to your requests. I commend them for that.

Marion Tucker

Remember, the web was invented as an information system, and information (content) is king. Why sure there's a few large companies getting rich, like Amazon or All Posters. But guess how? By putting there ads on other peoples websites. Unique websites with different content are selling Amazon and All Poster products (there's a lot of these companies, I just named these 2 because they were first to pop into my head).

The web will survive the scam artists, no doubt about it. I just wanted to:

1. Get this off my chest. These ads make me sick.

2. Hopefully keep someone from giving a scammer their money.

I know from experience that if there are any secrets out there, you'll find them for free from other webmasters and site owners. We are a group of people who for some reason want to help each other. Check out forums and newsletters. Ask questions and share what you know. Provided you can tell B.S. and arrogance from someone offering genuine help, you will learn what you need to know absolutely free.

I've seen ALL my sales triple in the last year, and I fully expect them to triple again by next year. Now, you can send me $97 and I'll tell you how I did it, or you can read this article for free (it's the same as the $97 course, without the pictures of my new car and swimming pool).

Let's keep building this WWW together and make a little money too. We're a team ya know? We can teach and learn from each other. For free. Oh, and did I mention? DON'T QUIT! If you want to succeed, don't ever quit..

Everyone who's anyone on the community lately knows the name Greer TrumbleWell Greer's hit another homer on this forum entitled Enhancements to Adlandpro.  In it, he outlines the 2 new features we introduced above and goes on to invite people to post their suggestions about improving the "Community Experience" on Adlandpro.  Definitely visit this one.  We're always looking for suggestions on improving the community and what things you'd like to see implemented.  Check it out below and leave your comments.

3.  In Honor Of Bogdan And The Adlandpro Staff

We all came to work this Friday morning to this very nice surprise.  Kathy Martin, an Adlandpro Community Regular created a forum that ignited 3 pages of responses from you.  Needless to say, we're very grateful for the appreciation you've all shown us.  I felt the need to toot our own horns a bit here and pass the word on about this forum to the rest of the community members.  Go have a look and *ahem* feel free to post.
