Original Digest Moderator Welcomed  as New Digest Expert

I am extremely proud to announce that Amalia Sotiriadou joins the New Digest and the Community as an expert.  You can find her in the "Tidbits - Q & A" forum in our Experts Section.  I have to admit, I'm excited to see the posts that will come out of our Amalia's forum because right from her first post, and I quote...

"I want this to be a lively forum with lots of participation from YOU, the members and here is how we are going to do it. Every so often, I will be posting a question or a comment on an issue, the more controversial the better."

she's already "lighting it up".  I hope you guys take a second to drop by, wish her well, and maybe post a topic or two.  I'm sure I'll be by this forum often.  Welcome aboard Amalia!  Good to have you back.

Community Shows Overwhelming Support for Katarina Victim

It never ceases to amaze me how, in the face of disaster and national crisis, our community rallies together to support those affected by it.

Recently, one of our members, Agnes Mutisya's sister found herself suddenly unemployed and unable to support herself as a result of the recent Ecological Disaster.  Agnes asked for the assistance of Bogdan, the President and CEO of Adlandpro and the Community.   After tossing around a few ideas, eventually, on the advice of his 17 y/o daughter Antosia, they came up with a plan to help Sarah secure employment.  A special announcement went out to the 18,000+ members of our community asking for assistance or leads in finding Sarah a position of employment.

The following day, we received this letter:

Bogdan,

Sarah and I want to thank you and your staff for letting members of Adlandpro know about my sister’s situation.

We have received over whelming emails and phone calls of people wanting to know about my sister’s situation and how they can help. Some people have offered to help my sister find a job while others have offered to provide accommodation.

Please let every one in Adlandpro know that St Elizabeth Nursing home in Baltimore, MD has offered Sarah a job as LPN and she will start next week.

Once again, I want to thank each and every one who responded.

Sincerely,
Agnes.

On behalf of the all of us here at Adlandpro, I'd like to say Thank You and Great Work to all community members and especially those who responded to Agnes' requests for help.  You should all be very proud of yourselves.

Greer Trumble
Person of the Week - Sept, Week 1

Greer Trumble is a father, a loving husband, and valued Adlandpro Community member whose efforts in all three arenas contribute greatly to his overall success. Greer's early experiences in the military gave rise to an interest in circuitry and programming leading to a career in functional logistics management. Programming became more of a hobby but make no mistake. Greer has contributed a couple of working concepts to Adlandpro which kept him in the community's eyes long enough to be the HTML and Programming Basics expert. Make no mistake. His title is well-deserved and if you haven't already, drop by his forum. You'll see why.

1.1  New Community Features

Community Forums are now SPAM-Resistant

Recently there have been several comments from community members that other members on their friends lists create too many forums and generate far too much mail.  In response to the comments, we have revamped the existing forums to use a new invitation/notification structure which will allow you to control, eliminate, and/or reduce these notifications to your inbox.

Here's a short description of the new tab structure:

Active - These are forums you have accepted an invitation to and are actively participating in.  You can choose to leave a forum or disable it here

Invitations - These are forums you have been invited to.  Anytime you receive an invitation to a forum, you will find them here.  If you choose not to accept the invitation, no further notifications will be sent.

Inactive - These are your forums which you have left or cancelled.  You can rejoin these forums or clear them away completely by clicking this tab and selecting the appropriate action.

Pending - These are the moderated forums you have requested to join that are awaiting approval.  Once approved, forums here will move to the Active tab.

Banned - In Development.  Forums you have been banned from posting in will appear here.  You will be able to send a message to the forum administrator re-requesting addition.

Are You Busy Living or Dying?
By Esther Smith

If you are not busy living, then you must be busy dying. Most of us do this subconsciously and are unaware of which side of this equation they reside on. It must follow then that if you have lots of money, you are probably busy living and living well. Everybody wants more money. But is it the money itself or is it the freedom it buys? Lots of money = lots of freedom.

On the opposite side are people busy dying. It must follow then that their income falls short of the mark. They cannot meet their obligations, their debts are growing, and there is more month at the end of their money. Yet fuel prices, housing costs, taxes, even groceries keep rising. How do you budget an inadequate income? So they add on a part-time job to make up the deficit. Lack of money = lack of freedom.

In one month alone, nearly 400,000 people went to Search Engines for "self help".

  • 1,324,817 for help with depression
  • 910,029 for help coping with divorce
  • 355,077 for help with anxiety
  • 276,647 for help with addiction
  • 111,850 for help with anger management
  • 73,183 for help with panic attacks

So, how do we correct this? More money is the only solution and there are many ways to do this. For most, it is not how much they earn but how much they are able to keep. This is the single most important difference between becoming wealthy and staying poor. Spending more than we earn leads to financial disaster, yet most people do just that.

The poorest people would never think to buy knowledge or invest in their greatest asset - their brain. Certainly the easiest way to gather financial knowledge is through educational publications on the subject. Yet the ones who desperately need this knowledge almost never read it. They think poor and so do nothing to change it.

All to often we entertain the thought that there may be a shortcut to wealth. We dream about winning a lottery, or investing in a popular trade, or jumping on an Internet wonder-business that promises you a license to print money - (been there, done that).

I'm sure by now you think I'm going to come up with the perfect solution to this problem and I wish that were even possible. But I'll offer my two cents for what it's worth. Let's start a new generation with one parent staying home with the kids. Like the old days we seniors like to say. And it doesn't always have to be the at-home-mom; plenty of dads can fill this need and do a superb job. I happen to know a couple of them first hand.

We live in a new millennium where dotcom millionaires are made every day. So I will make earning a living online my solution, because it is the only way a parent can stay at home without fracturing the family budget. And I'm not talking about paid surveys, stuffing envelopes, being a secret-shopper, or (God forbid) telemarketing! Usually this is too little, too late.

To realistically run a business from your home, you must set aside some funds for start-up costs. Free is swell but in the end it will not pay the bills. Compared to a brick and mortar business, $1000 - $2000 is not unreasonable. Currently, a McDonald franchise goes for 3.5 million! And what good are profits if you are imprisoned by your business (been there done that too).

You will need some tools to run your business proficiently. Don't start out with a handicap like some one-armed paperhanger. You will need everything going for you if you are to succeed. Properly equipped, you will appear to be a serious business person, but more importantly you will feel like one.

Start with a domain name, a hosting company and unlimited phone service. A lot of your time will be in conference and follow-up calls. You will need a toll-free number if you want prospects to contact you - most will pass on a long distance call. You should automate your business as much as possible because you will be splitting your time between home and office duties. A Lead service and Autoresponder would be beneficial. A secluded place for your new business would be ideal and should be labeled "off-limits" during your scheduled work time.

Testimonials
Since I became a member here I always get leads that turn to buyers on the services of AdlandPro, and speaking about the community it rocks and real people are in it that will help you out with your online business for they are sharing the same passion as most of us are here.

Thank you very much for a good social networking community.

William Nabaza

Working at home can be challenging if you don't have discipline. You have to resist morning TV shows and learn to say 'no' until friends and relatives realize that you do have a job with a schedule to keep. A structured day is almost mandatory, especially with small children. It does get easier when they are in school. Your day can match school hours and the many camp-options can eat up the summer months. And oh yes, you will be able to afford it by then.

So the next step is to search for the perfect home-business. Personally, I like independent sales so I don't have to share my profits with several up liners. I also like residual income to be the larger part of my earnings. What is residual income? It's when income continues to flow automatically as a result of your efforts months ago. It takes no further effort on your part and rewards you generously.

Put high priority on a company's product. If you've never claimed to be a 5-star sales person, you will need a superior product at an irresistible price. But once you discover what works you will stop doing what doesn't, and never look back.
