Community Citizenship Award

In any Community it is very common to see active, well-respected members receive recognition for their good citizenship, hard work, and achievements.  The community brings so much life to Adlandpro services that we have decided that it's time for us to start paying tribute to those on the community who are active, respectable members and bring a positive energy to fellow community members. 

That being said, in every issue of the Community Newsletter, I will be randomly selecting from a list of nominees 1 community member who fits the above description, presenting them with a Good Citizenship Award and Designation, and featuring their profile in the upcoming issue of the Community Newsletter. 

Here's a few of the benefits of being selected for the Community Citizenship Award:

• Receive an exclusive top spot for your profile on the next Community Newsletter
• Get additional exposure for your ads and website as a result of this newsletter reaching nearly 10,000 members at once.
• An opportunity to address the community through the newsletter in a short 1 paragraph message which will be placed under your profile when it is featured on the newsletter.
• A Community Citizenship Award icon will be attached to your profile whenever someone views it on the community or whenever you make a forum post indicating that you are a Good Community Citizen.

In order to qualify as a nominee for the Community Citizenship Award, you must meet the following criteria:

• Been a member of the Community for more than 90 Days
• Be active in 1 or more forums with at least 1 forum post in the past 7 days
• Have A minimum of 10 friends on your friends list
• Have a user rating of no less than 5 out of 10 rated by at least 5 people
• Received no negative feedback from other users for the past 90 days.
• Have a completely filled out profile with interests and website
• Have a Photograph on your profile of yourself

Adlandpro RSS Feed System Gives Members 3 Massive Benefits

A new feature recently launched on January 26th, 2005 gives community members a convenient way to keep up with rapidly changing forums, a powerful means to promote their businesses, and a chance to increase search engine rankings and popularity.

RSS Feeds are fundamentally dedicated data channels that transmit specific and changing information directly to applications called RSS Readers notifying users almost instantly that something in the information has changed.  In layman's terms, gives you instant access to changed information online.  Traditionally, RSS Feeds were used to distribute news however new and exciting applications are popping up for this innovative technology daily. 

Adlandpro's RSS Feed uses RSS technology specifically to give members access to changing forums and/or forum posts.  Members with RSS Readers can be notified in as little as 5 minutes that someone has added something to a forum.

We have added this new feature in order to provide:

• Convenience - The RSS Feed System will notify you of new posts and display part of the message without requiring you to log on to the Community.  You can then decide if you need to read this now or 3 hours from now and you can do so by clicking on the "Read More" link directly in the message.  Forum Owners can be notified instantly that someone has made a post to their discussion enabling them to moderate immediately if necessary.
• Additional Promotion - Forum Owners should place the RSS Feed for their particular discussion on their website, emails, business cards or any correspondence.  This allows those who receive anything from forum owners to go directly to their discussion on the Community where they may have ads or a signature that promotes their product.
• Increased Search Engine Traffic to Places You Promote - Search Engines just love any website that  contains constantly-changing content and user activity. 
  As of now, RSS Feeds are a valued higher than static web pages by Search Engines due to their dynamic content.  By placing a link to RSS Feed on your website to your forum you are directing search engine spiders to re-check your forum on a daily basis sometimes even several times a day.  Whenever you post links on your forum to your affiliate program and sites you promote, these will automatically be picked up by search engines and made available to their visitors. 

To get RSS links for a forum that you own or are interested in receiving feeds, follow these simple steps. 

Click here to access forum categories. 

Click the category you want

Once the next page loads, click on the forum you want to receive feeds for. 

Look for this image place your mouse cursor over it, and then right click on the image.

Click on "Copy Shortcut" to copy the link location to your clipboard and then paste the link into your reader as a "New Connection"

For example to get RSS Feed for the Quote Of The Day forum, Click Here and find the orange "RSS" icon which should be located about 1/3 of the way down the page and on the right side and then follow the steps outlined above to create a connection to this forum in an RSS Reader.

Creating and Managing Forums on the Community

As promised in the previous issue, some information follows which will show you how to create and manage your own forum.

Anytime you opt to create a new forum, you will be presented with the Forum Wizard.  This simple wizard will walk you through all the steps required in order to create a forum of your own.  Below is a walkthrough that goes through each screen step by step for you.

The first screen introduces the wizard and prompts you to click the "Next" button.  Get familiar with this button because you will be using it often.

The next screen will ask you to provide a Name and a short Description of the forum.  It will also ask if you want the forum to be moderated or not as well as selecting the access level of the forum (All, Moderated, Private).  Click the "Next" button to continue

The following page will prompt you to select the friends you wish to invite to participate in this discussion.  A list of your current friends will be displayed here for you to choose from.  Alternatively, you can choose "All Friends" which will automatically invite all the friends you have on your list to the forum.  Click "Next" once more.

You are now presented with a page to invite people to this forum who are not members of the community by entering their email addresses and composing a custom invite. ***Tip*** Separate the emails by using a semicolon (;) character.  Once you're done here, click "Next" or skip this by clicking, oddly enough, "Skip".

This final screen gives you an opportunity to insert the first of your posts into the discussion as well as an opportunity to notify all members of this post.  Click "Next" when you're done.

That's it!  You're done!  So where do you go now?  Simple.  Click the Forums link on the left side of the page to go to your "Admin" panel.  You will see your newly created forum on the list in the center of the page and some options for display as well as maintaining or deleting the forum.  For example, you can click the "Edit" button to change forum stats as well as delete the forum entirely if you wish.
