Photos Versus Non-Photos We compared several Community profiles created between February 14th and February 17 and noticed that the number of friends for community members who uploaded a personal photograph were significantly higher than those without photographs on the Community. Members who had photographs seemed to double the rate at which non-photograph members were receiving friend invitations. Additionally, members seemed to have more community friends with photographs than without. This is interesting because a good 2/3rds of the community does not have pictures loaded into their profiles. It almost seems as if people flock to those members who have them as opposed to those who don't. After a short discussion, we came to the conclusion that members with photographs likely gained a small trust advantage in a first impression over those who didn't have photographs. I suppose that makes sense otherwise blind dates would be more popular. :) Bottom Line? Having a photograph in your profile works to your advantage in the Adlandpro Community because networking is difficult enough already. Placing a photograph in your profile basically says to the community, "Here I am for you to see" and in the back of a person's mind this perhaps becomes the foundation on which a trusting business and/or personal relationship can be built. Many people are familiar with the terms "LOL" and "BRB" which in the internet chat world are acronyms for "Laughing Out Loud" and "Be Right Back" respectively. Well, get your typing fingers ready and start practicing your smiley icons :) my fellow community members. We will soon be communicating with each other in real-time and in groups over the internet on Adlandpro. You guessed it. Chatting. It's been something that has been in the back our President Bogdan's mind for quite some time now and in a few short weeks, it's all going to be a reality. For anyone who's spent anywhere from 6 months to a year or more online, I'm sure that you've engaged in some form of Internet Chat or another. If you haven't yet, you're in for a rather pleasant, if not potentially addictive surprise. Just remember to disconnect from time to time. I'm pretty excited about the whole thing and seeing it nearly finished gives me Goosebumps. Yes, admittedly I have left behind many chat legacies including (but not limited to) Yahoo Chat, MSN Chat, Mplayer Voice Chat, Lycos Chat when it was still around, Paltalk, ICQ, Trillian, and now Adlandpro Chat which I'm convinced is going to be awesome! Stay posted folks because when we launch, I'll be in the room first. LOL! Instant Messenger Application In Development Before the end
of 2005, one of AdlandPro's larger goals is to launch its own
Instant Messenger type application exclusively for our Community
Members. Though it is still in a flowchart stage, with a
feature wish list of integrated voice and video chat and premium
optional features, this application promises to be huge in scope
and may very well rival current Instant Real Time Messenger
Heavyweights such as MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, and Paltalk
Messenger. I'm pretty fired up about it. I think you
will be too! New Community Features Added The Adlandpro Programming Department has been working with one less programmer for the last week so the new feature list is a bit small this time around. Speaking of which, congratulations go out to our Programmer Artur who recently had a bouncing baby boy and many thanks to the programmer Chad who had to take over many of his duties. Excellent work!
