From The Editor...

Thanks for reading issue 5 of the Adlandpro Community newsletter.  It's been nearly 2 weeks since the last issue went out so this one may be a  bit packed.

Everyday my job gets more and more exciting as I am slowly meeting new people and learning different things.  This past couple of weeks I have had an opportunity to teach a small lesson, chat with many of you in the chat room, and make some new and interesting friends.

I really do hope you guys are having as much fun as I am.

Chat Room Grand Opening Meet-and-Greet Review

In the first few days of its opening, Bogdan and I have both had the pleasure of attending the planned Grand Opening Meet-and-Greet and meeting quite a few of you all in the chat room.  The night went excellent and we both had a great time fielding some of your questions and listening to a lot of input in terms of what you would like to see developed in the future.

For those of you who didn't attend, you missed a fantastic time where there were around 30 or so people in the room but many seemed to be just listening or watching.  Overall though, the room was a flurry of discussion as ideas came from several different participants.  It was exciting to see!

Realistically, the only thing that felt like it was missing was wine and cheese.  We hope to have a few more meet and greets in the coming months to welcome and orient new members as well as socialize with existing ones.

Thank you to everyone who was in the room that night.  It was a blast!  I hope to see you guys at the next one too.

Adlandpro HTML Tutorial

About a week ago, I hosted a 1 hour Adlandpro Tutorial demonstrating the basics of creating HTML links.  I keyed in on 3 different types of links, the last of which was our very own affiliate link.  We examined the structure of a link and what function each different part of the link played and how changing the different parameters would change how the link behaved.  All in all, I believe most had a good time.

I am thinking of repeating the process once more to a smaller group on a per session basis.  (5 attendees per 1/2 hour session) and having a few more of these types of tutorials.  If you would like to see a specific topic covered or are interested in getting a slot in one of the HTML tutorials, please contact me so I have a better idea of the interest level for such an activity.

Because some of the people who were at the tutorial were unable to stay to the end, came a bit late, or were finding the pace too challenging, I have transcribed a  more detailed tutorial available in Microsoft Word printable form.   If you would like a copy of this lesson, contact me using our Contact Form and let me know.  I will mail you out a copy of the lesson in a couple of days.

1.1  New Community Features

Adlandpro Chat Launched

After a couple of days to work out some of the bugs, Adlandpro Community Chat is up and running.  We've had tremendous response to the room and a lot of input and feedback regarding what features you would like to see added.  We are looking at implementing many of these features so things will only get better from here.  You can visit the chat rooms by clicking the link below:

Instant Message Notification on the Community

If you are a jittery surfer like myself and can't seem to keep your mouse still on a page, you will have seen a nice little feature added to the Adlandpro Community when you hovered your mouse over one of the names on the "Who's Online" box.  You can now invite this person to chat privately.  It's a web-based mini messenger that will allow you to message someone who is logged onto the Community and have a conversation with them even if they are not in the Chat Room.  You will be sent a message informing you that User X is inviting you to a Private Chat.  [ Accept? ] [ Decline? ]  If you accept, a small window opens up that will allow you to message back and forth with that person in real time.  Idle users unfortunately won't benefit much from this new feature as you will only get messages and invites when you move to another page or refresh the one you are on by hitting the F5 key.  Nevertheless, it's Very Cool and definitely worth checking out.  Just to recap the steps on how to initiate the private chat:

  1. Hover your mouse over the name of the person you wish to chat with in the "Who's Online" box.
  2. Click on "Invite this user to chat"
  3. It may take some time for the user to respond but if they accept, they will join your room.
  4. Start chatting!

2.0  Feature Article

Photo 411

I've been fielding a lot of questions recently since we sent out the notice to those on Adlandpro Community who didn't have pictures.  It dawned on me that many of you may not be aware of just how easy and fun digital photography can be.  I've written this little help tutorial to assist you with basics of digital photography and how to add your new digital masterpieces to your Community Profile on Adlandpro Community.  Let's go through some of the basic steps.

1) Digitizing - In order to place a photo online, it must be turned into a digital file.  There are several ways to do this.  The shortest way is by Digital Camera.  Adequate digital cameras can start as little as $100.00 for a decent unit and having a digital camera will allow you to take the picture and store it on the camera in digital format automatically.  Digital formats generally are picture files and can be identified with a file ending in .jpg, .jpeg, .bmp, .png, and .tiff.  I won't go into the specifics for each one.  Suffice to say that the most common you will see on the internet for photographs is the .jpg and is likely what your camera or scanner will save when you digitize your photo.  The other ways are by Scanner or by webcam.  You will need to consult your product documentation for how to use your specific equipment and how to upload the photos from the scanner/camera/web camera into your computer.  In most cases it will involve plugging in a cable from your device to a USB port on your machine.

2) Editing - Once you've got the pictures downloaded or scanned in from your device, you will now need an image editing program or application in order to make it look the way you want to.  These programs can range from $0.00 to over $1000.00 depending on your needs.  If you're like me, you don't need anything extravagant in order to satisfy your requirements so a program like Jasc Paint Shop Pro or Corel Photo Paint which is part of the CorelDraw suite of applications.  At around $129.00 USD to $350.00 USD, these programs have a very impressive number a features and trinkets for the price.  These programs will let you add interesting effects like turning a color photo into black and white, adjust and improve the color, trim, and resize your digital photo file. The community will accept photos up to 800 Kilobytes in size.  For the dollar conscious beginner, visit http://www.download.com and search for Photo Editing Programs which won't cost you a thing.  Don't forget to save your new photo along with any changes you have made.

3) Uploading - Once you're done, go to your photo upload page on the Community, then click on "Browse" to locate your edited photograph and then click "Upload" to load it into your profile.  If you did everything correctly, you will see your new photo in place of the head silhouette that used to be there.

Photo Editing and Digital Photography are a couple of the most engaging hobbies these days for people just purchasing a computer because it allows even a novice to take photos and be creative without fear of great expense or ridicule.  Digital cameras are getting more and more affordable by the day and they just get easier and easier to use as some of the major companies begin responding to customer needs and knowledge levels.  If you don't have a digital camera yet, it may be time to join the digital photography movement because it's so much more economical and fun when you realize you don't have to worry about paying for film.  I hope to see all your photos up soon!

Having Troubles?  If you are having great difficulties uploading  your photograph, send us an email with your photo attached and we'll upload your photo to your profile.  Just try your hand at uploading the photo first.  If every effort fails, let me know and I'll do this for you.  I will not however pick up your dry cleaning no matter how nicely you ask :)

Self Development

I was fortunate enough to have been invited to an interesting forum this week which is moderated by Deanna Thompson, a recent addition to the Adlandpro Community.  The forum, called "Self Improvement" caught my eye because it focused on something on a much deeper level than just marketing or advertising but went down fundamentally to our need for self improvement and what that means to many of us.

It was great to see the variety of posts that from a variety of opinions that erupted as a result of the discussion and I think it's definitely worth going in and taking a look.  This discussion has the potential to become a pretty hot thread if we just light it up a little.  You can check out the discussion by clicking below:

Home Business Training

Though a bit skeptical at first, I took a visit to this forum.  I didn't post but I read from top to bottom.  Lots of good information here from Thomas West, indeed an active member of the Community with several different forums.

Thomas takes a really good step here and has a forum that addresses a different viewpoint for network marketing, MLM, et al.  For those of you who have some questions about getting into the MLM or Network Marketing Game, it would be a good idea to check this forum out.

Jedi Mind Tricks

I nearly spit out my morning coffee laughing when I got invited to this forum.  By far, the most unique forum name I have seen to-date ever in any forum I have ever been a part of.  Don't let his forum name fool you though Justin Rhoderick, the forum moderator/owner is a dynamic and charismatic individual who some of you may remember from a previous issue had a video greeting for new Adlandpro Community Members.  The forum he created most accurately reflects his personality and you'd be missing out on some interesting conversation if you skip this forum altogether.  Take a minute and check it out.
