From The Editor...

Issue #8 of the Community Newsletter has arrived hot off the virtual presses.  I have to apologize in advance today as there may be a couple of rants and raves on this issue of the comm.  Namely, you'll see our finalized version of the Terms of Service or ToS for short.

On a more positive note, I received nearly 1/3 more emails from the Create-A-Quote contest than the first round and I was more than happy to present our 3 winners today with their profiles on the comm.  Plus, in this issue, I go over in a little more detail your mini-web pages on your profiles.  You know, that blank space between your ads and stats tabs?
Enjoy!

Terms of Service Finalized

Sadly, my Terms of Service call for feedback hasn't generated as much input as I had hoped for.  Thus, our finalized Terms of Service is as follows:

Adlandpro Community Terms of Service Policy
  1. You acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author or individual member only and not the administrators, or staff of Adlandpro (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable.

  2. You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, pornographic, or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to termination of your account and where necessary and deemed appropriate or necessary, your service provider being informed and all information provided to authorities. The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions.

  3. You agree that posting messages which threaten, degrade, verbally abuse, or are discriminatory in nature directed at a specific community member or group of community members is grounds for immediate termination of your Community Membership and also, where applicable, your Internet Service Provider informed of your actions.

  4. You agree not to display, promote, or link to any nude or pornographic images on your profile or any of your posts or ads.

  5. You agree that the Adlandpro and its staff and the moderators of this forum and their discussions have the right (but are not obligated to) to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time as they see fit.

  6. As a user you agree to any information you have entered being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent (In compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act of 2004) the webmaster, administrator and moderators cannot be held responsible for any information you, as a user make readily available on the community or any consequences or damages that arise as a result of such actions.

  7. You must be at least thirteen(13) years of age or older in order to register an account with the Adlandpro Community.  By submitting your registration and using the Community Services, you agree to these terms and conditions listed above.

If any portion of this Terms of Service agreement is objectionable to you in any way, you are unauthorized to use the Adlandpro community.

Community Steering Committee Update

We have selected a few candidates for the Adlandpro Steering Committee and in the next week or so we will be contacting them to participate in an impromptu interview process.  If you are one of the selected members, you will receive in your email a series of 3 questions which you must answer based on your own judgment, experience, and belief in what is fair and just.  This will give me some insight as to your suitability for the Adlandpro Community Steering Committee.  Congratulations to those selected and best of luck!

Inappropriate Content

After surfing the profiles and finding several offensive profile photos and links, I thought it would be a good idea to remind fellow members that this not only violates our Terms of Service and results in a suspension/termination of your account, it is literally against the law.

Because we are not an adult site and do not have necessary precautions in place to safeguard against minors accessing the site, by law, we cannot allow this type of content to be posted on the community.

Please be wary of this as many of your fellow members are family members as well who may have small children who may be exposed to such material.  I recall the profile I came across recently of a male who had certain "normally unexposed" parts of his anatomy exposed.

It also makes me think of some of the community members who I maintain regular contact with and that I know have small children.  I think of the expression that would come across their faces if they came across that and it infuriates me.  If you happen to see anything like this on the community, please contact us and let us know so that we can take appropriate measures.

Here's a good rule of thumb when you're deciding whether or not something is appropriate content for the community.  If you wouldn't share it with your 9 year old child, don't share it with the community.  Let's clean it up folks!

Profile Web Pages, a How-To

If you have ever looked closely at yours or another member's profile, you might have noticed that there is a small tab marked "Web Page".  If you've ever seen it and clicked it, you'll notice that some users have content in there and some don't.  If you're one of the ones who don't and you want to learn how to add content to this area, keep reading.  I'll give you the skinny on how to do this in the time it takes you to have a coffee break.

Here are the basic steps to editing your mini-web page:

  1. Go into the community and login.
  2. On the left-side of the page there is a link marked "Web Page".  Click it.
  3. A screen will appear that looks a lot like Microsoft Word.  This is your editing screen.
  4. Type in whatever you like and then hit the "Save Changes" button at the very bottom of the screen.
  5. View your profile after you've saved the changes.

Advanced Editing - Pasting Code to your Mini-Web Page

You can paste HTML code to your mini web page like this:

  1. Copy the code onto your clipboard by highlighting it.  Click and hold your left mouse button then drag your mouse over the code to highlight it and let go (If you've done that correctly your code should look something like this)and then press CTRL + C on your keyboard to copy it.

*Tip*  Try dragging your mouse over this text to demonstrate highlighting!

  2. Go to your mini webpage once more by following the steps above and when you get there, place a checkmark at the box in the bottom of the page and then copy the code into the white space by placing your cursor in it and pressing CTRL + V.  When you're done, your screen will look like this.

  3. Save your changes and you will see this:

  4. You're Done!  Now wasn't that simple?

2.1  Create-A-Quote Contest

"There Isn't a ___________ Person In The World Who
Didn't Believe  At One Time Or Another That _____________
Comes As a Result of _____________"

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to round 3 of Create-A-Quote!  If you have been following the last two, you may notice that this round is a little harder and will require a bit more creative thinking than the last 2.  Get out your thinking caps!  For those of you just tuning in, you can find the 4-1-1 on how to play by [ Clicking Here ]  What do you think guys?  Should I start giving away money as prizes?  HAHA!

Thanks for all your entries to the last CAQ.  Well I definitely got my wish from last issue because I got a whopping 142 Entries for CAQ this last 2 weeks.  Can we say, "Blown Away"?
I can't wait to see if we shatter that number this time around.  And once again, here are your round 2 CAQ Winners:

I think this little quip serves to remind us that there are things that we miss out on when we focus only on monetary success.  Outstanding quote Darleen.  First place by a mile!

"All Work and No Play Make One Dimensional Characters!"

Bonita Lawrence

Okay, I'm a sucker for a creative thought which makes me think for a moment.  Isn't that what quotes are designed to do though?  Kudos to you Bonita for 2nd place!

"All Work and No Play Makes One Divorced!"

Sandra Cobb

And last, but not least, as usual, maybe I enjoy a good slap-in-the-face truthful humor quote a little more than the next guy and this one sure fits the bill.  It was one of the first ones I received and it stuck with me the whole time.  Hats off to Sandra for 3rd Place!

Hey alright,
Thank You so much for checking on the script about the first level traffic bonus. It is good to be able to see that my referrals are working.

I'm wondering if you could tell me which of my referrals is making sales. This has got me overcome with joy. If not that's ok.

I'm so glad I put my nose to the grindstone with AdlandPro.com

Thank You for this real and genuine opportunity.
I hope all is well with you.

3.0  Featured Forum Reviews

These forums have been hand-selected as top forums on the Community as a result of their activity, topic, number of participating members, number of posts etc.  They're definitely worth the look and a good starting point if you've never been to the forums before.  Check them out!

Do you have a forum you think should be featured here? [ Let us know! ]

1.  Helping Everyone to Build Strong and Big

The helping hand of Adlanders is once again demonstrated with this forum.  The Forum owner, Paul Sorgi shares with other members a valuable email about business and some tips on becoming more successful.  If you invest a few minutes reading this forum, you will likely find something in there which will help you in your day to day activities.

2.  K.L.O.D. Radio Forum

Jean Gagne, from klodradio based in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada has created an interesting forum which is a welcome change from the business-topics prevalent in the Community Forums.  Web-based radio, for those who don't know is music that is streamed through the internet for enjoyment over your computer.  If you need something to listen to while you're doing work or posting on Adlandpro, tune into K.L.O.D.

3.  Opinion Poll - Best Online Business Networking Sites

In many cases simply asking a question in a room full of people creates such a heated discussion that nearly everyone in the room gets involved in some form or another be it listening or actively participating.  The same seems to hold true on forums as Clay Houghton has successfully demonstrated by asking the very question above.  Whether you go to listen or go to put your two cents worth in, I suggest you go.
