Major Overhaul of
Adlandpro and Pressmania
If you tried to
log onto Adlandpro or the Adlandpro Community within the last 24
hours, you may have noticed a few outages, quirks, and slightly
strange behavior on both Adlandpro and the Community.
First, we'd
like to apologize for the disruptions in service and we are
working diligently to correct the issues that have risen as a
result of merging Adlandpro's database with Pressmania's
database. The reason for the merge is to streamline the
login processes and make tracking multi-affiliates easier for
both sites.
Here are some
common problems and things to do when you encounter these
situations:
- 1) My
Adlandpro password isn't working.
Try - Try using your Pressmania password
- 2) My
affiliate commissions and status are missing
Try - Nothing. We will look into this very shortly.
Rest assured that none of your commissions or credits have
been lost in the move as everything is backed up to
immediately prior to the merge.
- 3) I'm
getting an error message when I try to access this page.
Try - Try to find the link to the page and contact me with
the time, the date, the error message details, and anything
else describing the problem. This will go a long way
in pinpointing issues that have come up which we may not be
aware of yet.
We are aiming
to have all the systems up and running good as new by tomorrow
afternoon. Please bear with us while we make this large
improvement for everyone. If you have any problems, please
contact me
and let me know the exact nature of the problem so that we can
ensure that everything is working correctly.
How to Use Community
RSS Feeds on Yahoo and MSN
So we showed
you how to insert RSS and BLOG site feeds into Yahoo and MSN
Pages in the latest Community Newsletter Article. Now the
question is:
How do I use
this RSS Information to my advantage on the Community?
The
article in the latest community newsletter showed you how to
insert RSS Feeds into Yahoo and MSN. However, I neglected
to show you how to use these to your advantage with your
Adlandpro Community Discussion Groups so this follow-up article
will give you tips on how to drive traffic to your discussion
groups where you promote your business and your ads and
subsequently drive traffic to your website.
As the previous
article had mentioned, BLOGS and RSS Feeds are currently an
industry hot-button and Major Search Engines seem to love these
two technologies because of their rich and rapidly changing
content. By adding an RSS link to your MSN and Yahoo
pages, these two large search engines can be easily used to
index your Community Discussion Group and promote your business.
Follow these
easy steps to obtain your Discussion Group RSS Link and add them
your "My Yahoo" and "MSN" pages. (Please note: This
article assumes that you currently have accounts with Yahoo and
MSN and you have an active discussion on the Community).
If you do not, you will have to go to each one and create an
account. If you already have a forum or discussion, you
can skip to Part 2.
Part 1.
Creating a Forum/Discussion:
- Log into
Adlandpro Community Here:
http://community.adlandpro.com/UsersLogin.aspx
- Go into
your Forums section by clicking the "Forums"
link on the left side of the page.
- Click on
the "Create New Forum" button.
- Follow the Wizard Steps to configure your forum and
forum members/participants. If you would like more
detailed information about each step, click here to view a
previous article on "Creating
and Maintaining a Forum"
- When you're done, click "Finish" and you will now have a
forum.
Part 2.
Finding your Forum RSS Link:
- Log into
Adlandpro Community Here:
http://community.adlandpro.com/UsersLogin.aspx
- Go into
your Forums section by clicking the "Forums"
link on the left side of the page.
- Click on
your Discussion in which you promote your business to open
the discussion main page.
- Click in
the full discussion or individual thread which you wish to
use.
- Look for
the small
icon upper right hand corner. Put your mouse button
over this icon and click your right mouse button. A
menu will appear.
- Left-Click
on "Copy Shortcut"
- Paste this
link into a Notepad window or some other text editor.
You will need this later. You now have your RSS Link
which you will use in a second!
Part 3.
Pasting your RSS Link into Yahoo and MSN
-
For MSN, go to
http://www.msn.com, click on "My Page" and login to your
MSN Account.
-
Once your login to your My MSN account you should see an "Add
Content" link under the MSN logo to your left. Click on it.
A pop-up should now be displaying. Simply copy and paste your
RSS Link from your Notepad into the web form
provided and click the Search button (the green button with the
arrow).
-
You should now be looking at Check Box with your
thread/discussion's name
beside it. Check off your RSS Link URL and then press the OK
button at the bottom.
- For
Yahoo, go to
http://www.yahoo.com and click on "My Yahoo".
- When you login, you'll be taken to your Yahoo! page immediately.
What you want to do next is go look under the Yahoo! search box
to the left and click on the "Add Content" link.
- This will
bring you to a new page. From there, over to the right by
the "Find" button you'll see an "Add RSS by URL"
link, click on it. A new window will open with a "Web Form".
Simply copy and paste your "Site Feed URL" from Notepad into
the web form
and click on the "Add" button.
- Now, you
should see your Discussion's name in front of you. Simply
click on the yellow "Add To My Yahoo!" button on the top
right and your feed will be added.
You're done!
In both cases you will see breakdowns of each of your discussion
along with current threads posted in the last several hours.
Now, I can't
stress this enough. MSN and Yahoo are powerhouses in the
Search Engine game and instead of waiting for a search engine
listing which may take days, sometimes weeks, these pages get
indexed regularly; often within hours. If you use your
Community Discussions creatively, you could divert a lot of
traffic to your website quickly and with very little effort!
