SIR ROGER MACDIVITT
A personal description of my life and loves to date, a continuing journey. It is always a challenge to summarize ones own life and achievements. After all, it is ongoing.
Please have the patience to read this very wordy piece.
Having a sister two and a half years older, gave me that early competition that sometimes brings out the best. In my case it wasn't the case until later on in life. Our parents were far from wealthy and we were fairly poor, in local terms, in our part of southern England a few years after World War ll. However we wanted for little of the important things in life. Mine ws a basic education and I suffered from an exam fear.
While I entered the printing trade as a hand typesetter (compositor) I found a love. I qualified as a craftsman and went on to work as a manager, a director and finally as a business owner. My love of colour and design grew and following a disastrous business partnership, near bankruptcy and serious illness I was forced to find a business with a small capital base. I chose my hobby, gardening, and went on to build a garden design and build business.
Having married at 21 my lovely wife and I produced two beautiful daughters who in turn have married and given us four grandchildren. The oldest is proving to be very artistic and we enjoy this shared interest.
As I approach my mid
sixties I have the usual problems of health that
active employment brings. A little deafness, failing sight, and arthritis but I am adapting and have returned to art. The past hinted at some artistic skills but life determined that I could not follow that route. I am, once again, having fun with encouragement from friends here.
Knowing that I would eventually succumb to my arthritis I undertook training in Hypnotherapy, NLP and Time-Line Therapy and enjoy my work with friends and clients. I also studied goal-setting which has helped many people to achieve what they considered to be impossible. The rewards are
enormous. I love working with people. Through my training I learned why I had struggled with general education but excelled in other areas. I learned a new understanding of myself and can now say what few others can say. "I like myself." Yes, I'm still the same person who makes the occasional mistake but I no longer spend all my energy seeking approval. I love to share. My Christian beliefs and family values are important to me as are my liberal views on human
behavior. I firmly believe that few people are
truly wicked and most who are have a personality problem. God gave me the gifts of forgiveness and understanding. I am eternally indebted for his generosity.
My task is to share this and help those who find it difficult to do so.
It is impossible to tell a lifetime here. One which lacks huge achievements but it was full of different occupations and business schemes, with varied levels of success.
Adland and what it means to me.
I love teams. I love people and I understand the power that people in teams can have. This is a great place to display positive human endeavour. Naturally I have my negative Moments, but, Adland helps my focus. This is the greatest social network of all. IT IS A FAMILY with all that it brings. It has a wonderful business base which is overlaid with a Social Network of forums with an unlimited word count. Here you can bring and share and not just carry out a conversation and you can leave a permanent record.
My aim here is to help encourage others to bring their favorite things, their views, and their businesses. All families have their "falling outs," but great families stay together and this is no exception. Numbers rise and fall, and Adland is enjoying growth again. I know that if Adland can help those who come here looking for business to understand that making friends here is different and lasting we will share enormous success together.
