Featured Forums

Each issue of this newsletter will be featuring a different forum from the community. In this issue we are featuring Rose Enderud's Artshow please contribute and enjoy.

And what an Art Show it is! .Have You Seen It?

I'll admit I was excited when I was asked to do this article. I had enjoyed my visits to the site when it first started, but I was totally unprepared for the scope of what I saw when I went back this time.

So far there have been over 5800 visits to the site, almost 300 posts and contributions by over 20 different artists all from right here at AdlandPro. Displays include paintings, sketches, beading, crochet, photography, woodcarvings, ceramics, computer graphics and even the most exquisite roses sculpted from automobile body parts. Many have posted website urls for further viewing and some have even been posted in the form of slide shows for your viewing enjoyment.

Rose has done a superb job of organizing this. The very first post has been periodically edited to contain links to both the posted art works and website urls of the contributors. This is a big help if you just want to see the art and not have to scroll through all the comments. I was curious about just how this site evolved, so I asked Rose about it:

1) Rose, I've visited your forum several times in the months since you started it and it seems to have taken on a life of its own. Could you comment on what you had in mind when you started it and how it has evolved over time?

When I started the art forum, I was simply trying out the new features of the editor. I wanted to see if I could display my artwork. I had tried several years ago to get some visibility and got sidetracked. I soon got questions from other members about how to display a picture. I then started a thread to answer those questions. I discovered Anamaria Padurean already had a forum for posting images. There I found the information on a site that would allow you to produce a slide show. With the help of Anamaria I learned how to get a slide show posted.

After a few days I decided to invite other artists to post their work. I changed the name of the forum so it was not all about me. That is the point at which it took on a life of it's own. I was featured in the Weekly Parade of Stars then the Gazette. Jenny SJ and I started talking about doing Exhibitions featuring just one artist at a time. Then she nominated me for POTW and I won. All of this recognition I attribute to remembering that the best way to help yourself is to help others.

I have searched in AdlandPro for artists and invite everyone I find to come and post their work. I am constantly keeping my eye out for new talent. I use direct contact to encourage those that have not been to drop by and to remind those that have to come and see what is new. We have a wealth of talent here at AdlandPro. Most of the artists just needed someone to lead the way.

2) How has this forum contributed to your experience here at AdlandPro?

Opening up my forum to help others has allowed people to know me a little better. It has given me something more to do here than just advertise someone else's program. I still participate in some programs and advertise them. What brought me to the web and keeps me on the web is the desire to share my work with others. This forum has allowed me to do that and to reciprocate by helping others share their work.

3) Is there anything you'd like to add about your forum or your experience here at AdlandPro?

I would like my forum to continue to be a place for artists and art lovers to come together. Many of the artists have links to their works that are for sale.

So the forum is also a place for them to advertise their product. I have learned a lot here at AdlandPro. I have made good friends all over the world. Mostly I have come back to what I love with the encouragement of my friends, my art.

GETTING TO KNOW OUR POWER MEMBERS

You may have seen those red letters "Power Member" beneath their pictures in a forum, but just who are these people? To answer that question we feature one such member each issue. Each issue of the Newsletter we will write about one member of the community that we find to be a very Interesting Power Member! In this issue we have chosen to feature Mr John Sanchez.

Hello John! First, I would like to thank you for taking time out of your very busy schedule and honoring us with an Interview. We all know what a busy guy you are with your job and with all your duties at AdlandPro! So, thanks again for obliging us!

1) John our readers would like to know what it means to be a Power Member at AdlandPro and how you became our Goodwill Ambassador.

To me being a Power Member has nothing to do with having Power over anyone and I don't think that's what Bogdan was implying either when he gave us that title. I would like to think of it as having Power to do a lot of good in the community. The Power (or Opportunity) to raise people's spirits, the Power to help people who need help with what ever, the Power to make a difference in the world starting here at Adland and hopefully causing a change reaction that will spread around the World Wide Web. We have the Power to do a lot of good here and that's what I try to do with my forums.

I was bestowed the title of Goodwill Ambassador by Bogdan Fiedur the CEO of AdlandPro for my work here in the community. It is a title treasure dearly.

2) What brought you to AdlandPro and why?

I came here looking for free advertising and found so much more. I found something of much more value and that is lasting relationships. I've found friends from around the world who share of their time and resources freely ooops I better save this for the next question. Lol

3) What do you think about AdlandPro and the community?
As I was saying I've met some awesome people from around the world through this community. I hope to meet in person as many of them as I can some day. I've been fortunate to meet a couple already and I can't wait to take a trip around the world to meet the rest. That is my dream AdlandPro to me is the best community on the Net. I belong to several communities and none come close to this one. I think a lot of people here at Adland have caught the Spirit of Goodwill towards our neighbors and it's spreading all over the community. We've had a few out breaks of discord but the Good is out weighing the Bad by far. We got a good thing going here.

4) Now that we know more about you as a business man, we'd like to hear more about you on a personal level...how do you like to spend your time when you are not working.

Well, I love to strut my stuff Yes, I mean dancing. lol I like to get together with family and friends on the weekend. My family loves to have all-nighters were we play board games and Texas Hold-em. I also love to travel and to experience new places, when I arrive at a new place I like to take in the smells and the ambience of the place. I like to study the people from that place. I'm a people watcher.

5) Is there anything else you would like to add John?

In closing I would like to thank Bogdan and his staff for creating this wonderful community and I would like to thank all the awesome people here at Adland who have supported me in my work here. I love you all! Thanks for everything!

Thank you John for your efforts at AdlandPro as a Power Member of our community. As the AdlandPro Ambassador you and your team as well as others in your forums are helping new members each and every day. Following your lead they are a major reason that AdlandPro is the place to meet and enjoy new friends from all corners of the earth and all ethnicities. John you are loved by the masses here at AdlandPro and it is a small wonder considering the countless hours that you have been greeting and helping Adlanders new and old.

Thanks for all that you are and I want you to know that you are becoming what you will be day by day. Your world is endless in opportunities for the future and we all want to walk that walk with you. You can visit John's forums by clicking here and if John is not on your friends list you may invite him to be your friend at John Sanchez

Of course, astronomers have had pictures of colliding galaxies for quite some time now, but with the vastly improved resolution provided by the Hubble Space Telescope, you can actually see the lawyers rushing to the scene.

Community Interest

INTRODUCING ONE OF OUR INTERESTING MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY

In each issue of the Community Newsletter we pick out one person from the Community that we find to be one of our more Interesting members. This issue of the Newsletter we have chosen one of our published writers, MS ROSE SMITH

I was very interested in knowing more about Rose so I asked her if she would allow us to Interview her and she has obliged us to do so. I would like to thank Rose for letting us get to know more about her and her writing!

Here is my Interview with Rose;

1) What brought you to AdlandPro and why?

I came to AdlandPro while searching for online classifieds sites just over two years ago. I was looking for better ways to market my first Internet products, and FREE sounded very good to me!

2) What do you think about AdlandPro and the community we have here?

I didn't do any networking for over a year. I was very leery of it. I even worked in the online industry, but I have never been much of a chat-er. Once I actually began to participate in the community, I was surprised at the wide range of friendly, considerate, knowledgeable people I met. AdlandPro has changed my outlook regarding meeting people online. There are some real cards, but there are also people of high integrity and sincerity. I enjoy being a member, and I have not found another community that I like as much anywhere.

3) You are a very talented and published author Rose, when did you start writing and what inspired you to write?

I actually began writing in high school. I wrote poetry and short stories. I tried to publish in my early twenties, but found no takers. My work was rough-hewn and void of most of the poetic devices that make both poetry and fiction well-crafted and distinct. I quit writing in my early twenties when I began to have children. Oh, I wrote skits and song lyrics for the preschool at my church, but nothing akin to publishable work. I suppose I could record some of the songs I taught the children, but I'm not much of a singer anymore.

I returned to writing in 1995, nearly a year after the death of my grandmother. Somehow the void that was left when Mother's Day 1995 came around set my muse back in motion. With much more life experience to inform my work, I found acceptance with publishers and with live audiences at poetry readings. I began to go to writers conferences and workshops to develop my craft. I've been blessed to workshop with some truly great people along the way.

I was recruited to join the editorial staff at Pudding House Publications in late 2003 after a long association with them through local writing workshops. I review manuscripts for their annual poetry chapbook contests, worked for a while in the chapbook production area, and am now the facilitator of their year-long workshops series for aspiring and intermediate poets. We call it Salon. I am a touring poet and have done solo poetry readings or competed in live poetry competitions in Ohio, Michigan, North Carolina, Missouri, Oregon, Washington (state), Kentucky and Toronto, Canada. Need a poet in your town?

4) We know about you as a writer, can we know more about you personally? What do you like to do other than writing?

Aside from my very active poetry life, I enjoy reading mystery novels and science fiction, bowling, hiking, church services, and movies--I love to analyze movies. Perhaps in another life path I might have been a director, but I chose this one, the poet one, so here I am.

5) Is there anything else that you would like to add?

I'd really like to challenge every person not to let go of their dreams. Life is full of obstacles, discouragements, and delays, but perseverance and faith--in God and in oneself--will prove to be the keys to finding true reward. Don't let go. Life still has much to teach you, and you have much to teach the world around you. Thank you, Marilyn, for the honor you've shown me by asking me to complete this interview. I appreciate you. Rose

Thank you very much Rose for this great Interview and getting to know you more. I really enjoyed Interviewing you! For anyone that is not a friend of Rose's already please invite her to become your friend today. Rose is a wonderful person and writer so take the time to get to know her. Links & Rules Of Use

The vast majority of blogs feature a section or two that contains nothing but links. They may be links to the bloggers other blogs or to related sites; they may even be links to every syndicated columnist online - such a scheme makes up a good portion of the Drudge Report, Matt Drudges headline news portal. If you feature links, youll be following the grand tradition of successful bloggers and doing your readers a service. Well talk later about using your links as an assets to increase traffic, but for now well just talk about how they are laid out, and in layout, there are two rules to follow: use your links purposely and organize them effectively.

Everything on your page should contribute to your page, and your links are no exception. They should be organized in a manner that helps your readers navigate them, whether alphabetically or by subject. They should also each contribute something to your blogs content. Aunt Mabels cat blog may be really nice and you may really love your aunt - but the readers of your open-source software blog will not be terribly interested in it. Your links are an asset: distribute them in a way that maximizes your blogs value, and organize them in a way that ensures your readers can find what they want.
