Be Inspired

The soul's journey

In essence, according to the Edgar Cayce readings, the journey and the whole point of the soul is to learn, and grow, in order to earn its right to return to the Source and sit by the side of the Creator.

Edgar Cayce’s readings are quite eastern in philosophical thought. He is, in fact, essentially responsible for introducing, to western culture, or awakening western culture to the notion of reincarnation.

In eastern culture, the concept of reincarnation has been around for centuries. The Vedic scriptures proclaim that a soul will incarnate, several times, on earth in order to restore balance within its, very, karmic nature.

In other words it is believed that the soul carries with it its own karma. Karma is, essentially, a concept that adheres to the belief that actions have consequences and that we are repaid with what we pay out...

THE POETRY CORNER

profile pic

In this issue of the Newsletter we are featuring yet another one of AdlandPro's poets, and this time it is Mr. Nick Grimshawe . I had not read any of Nick's poems before, but was very pleasantly surprised when Nick sent me one to read.

I had the pleasure of Interviewing Nick about his poetry, and here is what he told me;

Thank you very much Nick for allowing me to read some of your work, and for letting me feature you in this issue of the Newsletter. Our readers and I would like to know a little bit about you. Can you please tell us when you began writing poetry, and what got you into writing poems?

A. First off, I will tell you I think I was born with a pen in my hand. I started writing at about grade four. In grade 7 I was blessed with a teacher who really cared about his students, and went out of his way to mentor those who showed they were willing. He suggested that rather than to start of with a novel, and since I was so good at reciting poetry, perhaps I should start there. I wrote my first poem shortly thereafter. Mr Davis, my mentor, went over the poem and suggested revisions and asked me to work on it some more. With his gentle guidance I began to get really serious about poetry.

I also wrote poetry with the aim of inspiring others. Where that desire came from I'm not sure. Since then I have written when the muse moves me.

B. Where do you get your inspiration from? What inspires you in other words?

A. My biggest source of inspiration is the beautiful world around me. I love sunshine, trees, fields of green, blue sky, mountains, well you get the idea. The other source of inspiration is people, people succeeding, over coming barriers, striving to be the first or the best, or to improve another life. I remember watching a moving, which I believe was called Sunshine, with the John Denver song "Sunshine" as the movie theme. The story was about a young mother dying of cancer who began to make recordings for her child so that they would have her love, and advice at various stages of their life. It qualifies as the most moving movie I ever watched.

Finally words inspire me. There is a magic in the way words connect and create a feeling or visual that is totally and utterly profound. The opening to the movie "A River Runs Through It" has some of the most beautiful words strung together.

That's why I have an Inspiration Quote of the Day. I search constantly to bring my readers that kind of magic. There is more of course. I suppose I find inspiration everywhere, cause I see inspiration every where. The poetry happens when that inspiration reaches such a point in me, the words simply overflow onto to paper. A form of inspirational nausea if you will.

Inspiration:

Are you into sharing,
My thoughts and my caring,
My dancing half crazy with love.
For the big things, the small things,
For all things, for all times,
The good times and bad times,
The sunshine, and rainbows,
The colors in dewdrops,
And splashy bright neon,
With watermelon flavors,
And lemon lime too,
Like acid explosions,
Of silky smooth satins,
Of feelings, and joy,
And lingering sorrow,
Your hand in my hand,
Fingertips touching,
With heat and the warmth
Exchanging the flowing,
Of blood and soft tissue
To bliss and oblivion,
Are you into sharing,
My thoughts and my caring
My dancing half crazy with love?

Thank you very much Nick for sharing part of yourself with all of us! Very nicely done my friend!

Jokes

Photo

The day I immigrated to the United States, I was given an alien ID card that featured a cute photo of me at age 15. Years later, when I went to the courthouse to become a citizen, a clerk confiscated my card.

"What will you do with it?" my wife asked. "We burn it" was the answer. "Could you please cut the photo off and let us keep it?" asked my wife.

"Certainly not," said the clerk. "This card is official U.S. government property. As such it cannot be mutilated before it's destroyed."

At Hebrew School, the Rabbi finished the day's lesson. It was now time for the usual question period.

"Rabbi?" asked little Melvin "there's something I need to know."

"What's that my child?" asked the Rabbi.

"Well, according to the Scriptures, the Children of Israel crossed the Red Sea, right?"

"Right."

"And the Children of Israel beat up the Philistines, right?"

"Uh ... right."

"And the Children of Israel built the Temple, right?"

"Again you are correct."

"And the Children of Israel fought the Egyptians, and the Children of Israel fought the Romans, and the Children of Israel were always doing something important, right?"

"All that is correct," agreed the Rabbi. "So what's your question?"

"What I need to know is this," demanded Melvin. "What were all the grown-ups doing?"

* * * *THE ART CORNER* * * *

Wouldn't it be fun to browse the work of three different jewelry makers all in one place? Well that is exactly what you can do over at The 13th Art Exhibition here at AdlandPro.

Starting at the top, meet Jenean Matthews. Jenean has been crafting since elementary school and has a most innovative website where you can see "before" and "after" pictures showing the difference a piece of jewelry makes to an outfit. Her work varies from all crystal beads to amber quartz and she even has one piece with a polymer clay pendant. She also has a forum on beading, so if this is an interest of yours, stop by Jenean's forum and say hello.

Next, allow me to introduce you to Rosalind Brinson. Rosalind started beading just a year ago and participated in her first show in May. She was encouraged by the feedback she got and it is easy to see why. Just click on the thumbnail images to get an up close look at each of these pieces in each of these displays. Rosalind has created a website where you can see more of her work here.

And don't forget Denise Morris. While Jenean likes working with mostly crystals and Rosalind with a variety of beads, Denise makes her own beads from polymer clay. The detail in her work is really incredible and the pieces range from whimsical to exquisite. In addition to the pieces shown on the Art Exhibition site, she has an additional display of her work here.

You can check out all three artists here.

Thank you Rose and Jenny and Venerina for putting this together!
