PRAYER REQUESTS

We have a couple of Prayer Requests that need to go out this time around!

We would like to continue to send our prayers out to MS LISA WESTBERRY and her family. Lisa's little girl Elizabeth has a very rare form of cancer. The family is back home in Charlotte now, and Elizabeth is now receiving radiation treatments. Elizabeth is still having a problem with eating, and has barely eaten anything in almost 3 months. She is being tube fed, and the doctors are concerned about her not wanting to eat.

Please keep praying for Elizabeth that she has a full recovery, and for Lisa, George and the rest of the family and friends as this is a very stressful and difficult time for all.

We would also like to send our condolences to Terry Davis. Terry's wife, Linda, recently passed away after suffering with cancer for the last few years. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Terry and his family during their time of sorrow.

We have one last Prayer Request...we would like to send our thoughts and prayers to Robert Coaster and his family. Robert's Mom is back in the hospital, and his Uncle has an infection. Robert is a caregiver for 3 people, which in itself is very difficult and stressful, so we ask God to continue to give Robert the strength and health to continue on with this very selfless act. Robert you are AWESOME!!

If you know of someone that needs praying for please send us the information and we will add them to our prayer list in the next Newsletter. Thank you.

DECEMBER HOLIDAYS & CELEBRATIONS

We have a very diverse Community here at AdlandPro, and I thought it would be nice to have a section on Holidays being celebrated around the world. I will list and explain the Holidays that will be celebrated during the month, along with the date the Holiday is celebrated. This should be lots of fun, and a great learning experience for everyone.

Hanukkah - starts December 4th
Hanukkah, which means "dedication" and is also referred to as "The Festival of Lights", is a Jewish festival which begins on the Hebrew date of the 25th of Kislev and lasts eight days, through the 2nd of Tevet. This year, that corresponds to December 4th through December 11th. Hannukah commemorates the victory of the Maccabees (led by Judah) over the Hellenistic Syrians in a revolt that took place around 165 BCE

Eid-al-Adha - Muslim Holiday - December 19th
A three day feast that follows the Pilgrimage to Mecca. This is a Muslim holiday that begins this year on December 19th. It commemorates Ibraham’s (Abraham) willingness to obey God by sacrificing his son, Ishmael. Muslims believe Ishmael is the forefather of the Arabs.

Christmas - December 25th
Christmas is a Christian holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. No one knows the exact date of Christ's birth, but most Christians observe Christmas on December 25. On this day, many go to church, where they take part in special religious services. During the Christmas season, they also exchange gifts and decorate their homes with holly, mistletoe, and Christmas trees. The word Christmas comes from Cristes maesse, an early English phrase that means Mass of Christ.

Kwanzaa - December 26th
Kwanzaa (Quansa) is a holiday celebrated by many African-Americans. It is held December 26th through January 1st. It was started in 1966 by Doctor Maulana Karenga, Professor at the California State University, Long Beach, California. There are 7 principles of Kwanzaa, and each day represents a different one of the principles. First principle is Unity, followed by self determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and lastly is faith.

Bodhi Day - Usually December 8th
The prince, Siddhartha Gautama, left his home and family and all his possessions behind at the age of 29 to discover the meaning of life. After six years, and still not finding what he was looking for, he went off by himself. He sat down under a pipal tree and vowed not to arise until he understood. He sat through the week, day and night, and on the eighth morning came to the realization which became the founding principles of what the modern world calls Buddhism. Bodhi Day is usually observed December 8th or the Sunday immediately preceding. This is the most important holiday to the Buddhists.

THE BEST FORUM AWARD WINNERS

The Newsletter has added a new feature to our Newsletter. We are listing all of the winners of the The Best Forum Award here. This forum was created by Bogdan Fiedur to give recognition to some of the best forums created in the Community. Each month a new forum is judged and voted upon by a panel of judges, and the winner gets $200!

That is really awesome, and very generous of Bogdan to do! So get going on writing some truly great forums and you may be one of the next lucky winners!

WINNER OF THE JUNE 2007 AWARD

The forum "Art Exhibitions at AdlandPro" by Rose Enderud won the award in June.

Rose and her team of Jenny Stewart, and Venerina Conti, locate artists and craftsmen, introducing them and their arts or craft works to Adlanders every 3 weeks.

The Judges chose Art Exhibitions of Adlandpro because it is a one of a kind forum. The visuals are exceptional and tastefully done. The forum is consistant not allowing anyone to post additional threads.

So far we have been treated to 22 threads featuring painters, jewlery makers, carvers, and other artist medians. It is a WOW forum that draws Adlanders to be regular visitors. In addition Venerina has created a Blog to further promote the artists.

Thank you ladies for showing us how to make a winning forum to be added to the list of BFA forums appearing on everyone's home page of Adlandpro. Look for all the winners with the gold and black insigna.

********* THE POETRY CORNER *********

In this issue of the Newsletter we are featuring another one of AdlandPro's poets, MR PIERRE LOUMA. Pierre is an awesome poet and author.

Its since I was eight years old that I started writing poems. I wrote one over every piece of humor, outing, suffering and windfall I came across. I loved particularly nature, the winds, the blue skies, the moon and loved everything that was beyond human imagination. I grew as an orphan, even though I had parents, who were divorced when I was 3 years old ,and abandoned me with different aunties, who made shifts off me throughout my primary education ..

In 1974-76 I wrote two books. 'Whispering West Africa' which was based on a true story about life of dictators in Africa. Then I wrote a second one titled 'Hard Way To Love' this was based on my childhood, the difficulties and the Love I was totally deprived of.

Three years ago I wrote another book titled 'The Universal Epistle' a spiritual and totally new way of life after Christ, based on healing, blessings and power. Everything I do is full of creative notions and I belong to those who believe totally in what I do, without any Ego or pride attached to it.

I have always worked for the benefit of mankind, and admire issues or publications that unite people from all works of life without color, place or loyalty. SAMIPLUS, is the KEY WORD of that fervent imagination to elevate people.

'POEM OF GRATITUDE'
By Pierre Louma

Over the rivers of serenity and hope,
Flowing along with grace and love,
Uniting every cornerstone of humanity in gain,
Within the shadow of inspired words,
Built a nation within a community.
Oh how joyful it is to know that wisdom
Within the veil unknown, has been exposed.
Let this year bring a thousand years of Glory.
For to win is gain for all

Copyright ©2007 Pierre Louma

I want to thank Pierre for this great poem, and for letting us know a little bit more about himself. We would like to wish Pierre much more continued success with writing his poetry, writing some more great books, and with whatever else life has to offer him. Good Luck to you!

Misheard Christmas Lyrics

No one can fracture a Christmas carol better than a kid. Sing along with these new takes on old favorites:

- Olive, the other reindeer.

- Frosty the Snowman is a ferret elf, I say

- Sleep in heavenly peas

- In the meadow we can build a snowman, Then pretend that he is sparse and brown

- You'll go down in listerine

- Oh, what fun it is to ride with one horse, soap and hay

- Come, froggy faithful

- You'll tell Carol, "Be a skunk, I require"

- Good tidings we bring to you and your kid

Christmas Tree

Two goobers went deep into the frozen woods searching for a Christmas tree. After hours of subzero temperatures and a few close calls with hungry wolves, one goober turned to the other and said, "I'm chopping down the next tree I see. I don't care whether it's decorated or not!"

YIKES!!!

**************************

What Denomination?

A woman went to the Post Office to buy stamps for her Christmas Cards. "What denomination?" asked the clerk.

"Oh, good heavens! Have we come to this?" said the woman. "Well, give me 30 Catholic, 10 Baptist ones, 20 Lutheran, and 40 Presbyterian."

THE 21st ART EXHIBITION

I am thrilled and honored to be the writer of this edition of THE ART CORNER. These ladies work so hard always. These 3 ladies, ROSE ENDERUD, JENNY SJ, VENERINA CONTI, really out do themselves presenting this forum to us every 3 weeks. When I went to see who was being featured this time around I found a very talented impressionist, Mr Alan Long.

Alan Long, the impressionist that is listed in the World Artist Directory, has more than 38 years of painting experience. He received formal art education when he was a teenager from two famous Singapore pioneer artists the late Mr Chen Chong Swee and Dr Chen Wen Hsi as well as the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. Mr Lim Mu Hue was then one of his teachers at the academy.

Alan is an amazing artist, he has mastered the skill of knife paintings, and is able to paint and complete the entire picture with the use of painting knives, except his signature. You see those little birds flying in his beautiful landscapes and seascapes are by sharp tiny brushes. With the special skill of knife painting, Alan has established his very own characteristic impressionism. His art lovers can easily identify his paintings before even looking at his signature.

Photobucket

As you can see Alan's artwork is absolutely amazing and very beautiful. I am truly in awe of his artwork, and it is the first time that I have ever heard of this technique, knife painting. Alan certainly has an innate talent and has put his talent to use in an extraordinary way. I am very honored to have Alan featured in this issue of the Newsletter.
