Welcome Our New Blog Advisor, Kenneth Sword

Web Logs or "Blogging" as it's more commonly known is one of the hottest topics to hit the net in a long time.  Companies left, right, and center are all jumping on the Blog-wagon and implementing some form of it somewhere on their web sites.  Web marketers are using it daily to promote themselves, their products, and their web sites.  Unfortunately, blogs, like anything else on the internet can be mis-used or not used to its full potential.  Thankfully, Kenneth Sword, a community member who many of you are already familiar with has stepped up to the plate as our new "Blog" advisor to help us all understand this new communication tool a little better.  Ken and a couple of his business associates own and run http://www.bizzyblogz.com/ so look for some good information to come out of Ken's Advisory Forum about the new Blogging Trend.  Be sure and look for Ken's first Digest article in the next Digest Issue.

Congratulations and welcome aboard Ken!

If you're new to making money on the internet, get to know the Do's and Don'ts of taking the step into the world of generating income online.

The Biggest Barrier To Success

Are you making at least $1 k per month?

That's a question that a member of Adland Pro forums wanted to know. Many people replied to say "not yet," but they're persisting. The member then posted to ask; "If no one is making at least $1,000 per Month, why are they spending all this time on promoting them?"

Usually, people spend a lot of time on techniques that don't make them any money
because they are doing what everyone does. Everyone can't be wrong, can they?
So, they follow the lead of other people that aren't making any money. A classic
case of the blind leading the blind.

And yes, I do know that some people, in any given program, are making money.
Less than 5%, usually. The other 95% are busy encouraging each other to keep
using techniques that don't work. The good news is that it doesn't have to be that way.

As Jim Rohn said; "Failure is not a single, cataclysmic event. You don't fail overnight. Instead, failure is a few errors in judgement, repeated every day."

He's right. Change what you do, and you change what you get. Keep doing what
you're doing, and you'll keep getting what you've been getting.

Positive thinking isn't the answer

Many people believe they just need to "think positive" and keep trying. Not true.
Encouragement and positive thinking can help when there is a psychological barrier
in place. For example; prior to 1954, doctors said that the human body could not
run a mile in less than 4 minutes. When Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute mile
in 1954, he broke a psychological barrier. In the next 3 years, 16 more runners
broke the 4 minute mile.

There is no such widespread psychological barrier about making money online.
We've all heard the stories of people like Rosalind Gardner earning $400,000 per
year, or Cherie Hammer, who just wanted to stay home with her baby, and
earns about $100,000 per year. We already know it's possible. So why aren't
more people doing it?

The true barrier to success

If you were in an unfamiliar city and had to get to a specific destination, having a
map would help, wouldn't it? It would allow you to plot your journey from where
you are to where you want to go. If you turned onto a dead end street, all the
positive thinking won't help. You would need to get off the wrong path and on the right path.

It's the same way with making a profit online. Maybe you have the wrong map.
Or no map at all. Or a map drawn by someone that doesn't know how to get there
any more than you do. Maybe you're on a dead end street, but you don't even know it.

Lack of a plan to guide you is the true barrier to success. If you are like most people, you lack a plan because you lack the know-how to create one.

74% of all wealth in America today is made by people who started their own business.  They are not geniuses. They are ordinary people like you and me. Many of them have only a high school education. What they have, that you do not, is a step by step plan to achieve their goals.

Before you pump yourself up with positive thinking and give yourself a pep talk about working harder and promoting more, perhaps you need to ask yourself a question. Do you have the know how to create a step by step success map?

If not, please do make use of the help and tools that Bogdan provides his members.

Join us in the What's Your Dream? thread. We'll be teaching members how to create a plan, step by step. All you need to join in is a piece of paper, a pencil and a dream.

Site Design and Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization or SEO

What is Search Engine Optimization? I recently asked Google the same question. You did know that you can ask a search engine a question didnt you? Well Google had 31,600,000 websites that claim to have had the answer. The fact is there were that many websites that were optimized or indexed using those keywords. I then opted for Google to define the term, which narrowed down the results from the 31,600,000 returns to only 22. I have included just a few below and I am going to pay particular attention to numbers 4 and 5.

While there were quite a few that all stated the same things, in a round about way, I opted to randomly select the ones below;

1) The process of raising a page or sites rank with the search engines by removing obstacles and enhancing favourable aspects of the page or site.

2) The act of altering a web site so that it does well in the organic, crawler-based listings of search engines.

3) The altering of a Web site, Web pages and links to Web sites and Web pages to improve visibility, rank and relevance in the organic, crawler-based listings of search engines.

4) Designing a website so that it ranks highly in the search engines when someone searches for specific phrases related to the site.

5) The changes that are made to the content and code of a web site in order to increase its rankings in the results pages of search engines and directories. These changes may involve rewriting body copy, altering Title or Meta tags, removal of Frames or Flash content, and the seeking of incoming links.

I mentioned that I wanted to pay particular attention to definitions 4 and 5 and there is a good reason for that. As a website designer and search engine optimizer, I feel that the optimization starts before the first line of code is ever written. I tend to design a website all the while thinking about the search engine optimization. It is an inherent part of good design practices. Keywords and page copy must maintain a specific blending, to much or to little and the mixture is a bust.

The final result is really only the beginning, that then takes us to definition 5 where we revisit what we did, and tweak the copy and the keywords to give us a better result, when we see through collecting and analyzing our website stats that we are not getting the desired results. It is not an overnight process; we have to analyze stats over a period of time. We look for search bot visits, when and how often they appear. We compare unique visits to revisits. We check the keywords used to find the site in the search engines and we do a comparative analysis on those words. We look at and how, and where we are using them in the page copy and the META TAGS.

It is not uncommon for people to ask if I can optimize their website for the search engines, it is after all one of the services I provide. The answer is not always an easy one. If I did not design the site, then I have to break it down into the structured elements that make up a good site. If the structure, layout or content of the website is lacking, then there could be major work required in rebuilding the website to make it more search engine compatible. The site could already have been banned from the search engines for bad SEO practices that the owner bought into previously.

I have seen my own clients fall prey to poor search engine practices because the price was cheaper or they were guaranteed page one listings. I still try to offer help, I point out things such as; If they are so good at what they do then why are not in the search engines on page 1, spot 1, themselves? If they are suggesting that you allow them to do a certain thing to your website then; Why do they not practice the same technique on their own website?

Search Engine Optimization takes a little effort but it needs to have a direction. To quote Alice and her conversation with The Cheshire Cat:

"Would you tell me, please which way I ought to walk from here?"

"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.

"I don't much care where - said Alice.

"Then it doesn't matter which way you walk," said the Cat.

- so long as I get somewhere," Alice added as an explanation.

"Oh, you're sure to do that," said the Cat, "if you only walk long enough."

It is somewhat the same in doing justice with search engine optimization. A lot of the advice you would get from those 31,600,000 websites mentioned at the start of this article would try to run you around in circles, they would throw out terms that would have you think that either they are really smart and must know what they are talking about or you are really dumb. Neither is true, they are no smarter than you are, they just use terms that make it seem that way.

Some terms you might hear are;

Boolean search, Concept search, Full-text index, Fuzzy search, Index, Keyword search,
Precision, Proximity search, Query-By-Example, Recall, Relevancy, Spider, Stemming or
Stop words.

You do not need to let these terms confuse you, but you should learn what they mean, not only will you gain more insight into search engine optimization but you will learn to use the search engines better. What is the best way to learn them? Do a search for them and read.

The following is a quote from searchenginewatch and it bears some thinking:
"Often when rankings and traffic go down, the volume of business can increase when your site is actually only targeting phrases that make sense and making it easier for customers to purchase. Rankings does not equal volume of business. That is a very widely held misconception."

So how do you do a good search engine optimization of a website, you plan, you review and you re-evaluate, daily. You do it one-step at a time. There is no guarantee of a page 1 listing; there is only what you put into it. Learn what people are searching for in your target demographics, learn the type of content that the search engines are looking for and start to deliver it.

Is Your Website Missing Over 64% Of
The Worlds Internet Users?

Today 2005, There Are: 938,710, 929 Million Online Users!
That means YOU could be missing out on over 610 Million potential customers/associates!

Yes, over 64% of the world's Internet users CAN speak English but they REFER to search and browse the web in their native languages!

You don't have to read too far between the lines to figure this leaves a huge market wide open on the internet.

Many desire to enter the thriving multilingual marketing that they know is there, but the language barrier is keeping them out!

However there is a solution that could help you corner this huge waiting market.

Here's what it does...It will translate virtually any website into 14 different languages instantly, easily and effortlessly.

This alone could help your sales, profits and affiliate commissions skyrocket!

FACTOIDS:

1. Know this, search engine filters are less sensitive to non-English web pages. Therefore, your chances of getting better listings for foreign webpages is higher than competing against all the established English listings that you have been up against!

2. Did you know that: Google AdSense supports 21 different languages?
3. All languages are compatible with AdSense for 'Search' and 16 of them are compatible with AdSense for 'Content'. So now you can immediately begin publishing in foreign languages!

4. Simply paste your AdSense code to your English web page and then translate it to 12 different languages. That's it! It's nearly effortless! NOW your chances to broaden your Adsense clicks, just shot through the roof!

5. The AdSense robot will automatically detect the languages of your web pages and display the appropriate AdSense ads.

6. Increase the number of your web pages by translating what you already have into several different languages. Now your site content just expanded and you did not have to write one single word!

7. Google provides multilingual platforms and crawls web pages in 35 different languages...

8. This is no SE trickery. It's even approved by Google! All you are doing is giving the search engines more of what they want - and that's good content. Now you can appeal to even more of the their visitors.

Just imagine adding the power of multilingual to the 1000s of content pages Site Translator can build for you. Why the magnitude of the Adsense pages you could establish would be staggering!

Added Reasons To Use This Approach

1. Internet users, whose native language is not English and who can speak/read English tend to use local search engines that are able to index words in their languages.

2. Very few English site owners have non-English contents. This means online foreign markets are still largely untapped with very little competition.

3. Online foreign language markets are growing at a much faster rate than English speaking ones as the Internet continues to penetrate these countries at an incredible speed.
We have already established that statistics show that, over 64% of total Internet users in the world do not use English as primary language. Of that total, 35.7% of total population uses European Languages and 32.3% use Asian Languages. Here in America and just below us geographically is an ENORMOUS Spanish speaking population!*

The Perfect Solution

Isnt one of the most important things for a website is to get its message across to the widest possible audience? A majority of Internet users today are either American or European. Your website can gain a competitive edge by having multilingual versions of its content to reach out to customers who might speak a different language.

Site Translator makes this possible with just a few clicks. Try it FREE!

Site Translator supports 14 language pairs for translation:

English-German
English-French
English-Spanish

English-Italian
English-Portuguese
English-Dutch

French-English

*Let me illustrate the above principles in a practical manner. It is an old fashioned lesson in using backyard, down home business logic.

I stopped at a store/service station in my neighborhood to purchase my Sunday paper on my way to a friends house. A lot of people had the same idea that Sunday so I took my place in line.

Directly in front of me were a Spanish Gentleman and his two little daughters. He purchased his paper and they were clearly begging him for a bag of candy in Spanish. I do not speak Spanish but I got the drift. He in turn was clearly telling them NO!

As he paid for the paper the store-owner a recently relocated southern gentleman who was clearly not Spanish spoke to him in Spanish and smiled at him. The man looked up clearly surprised, and mollified, then answered him. Then he turned as if to leave and turning back clearly having changed his mind and indicated that the girls could buy the candy.

The language barrier that was felt to exist did not exist so a bond was formed and a purchase made. How do I know? Why do I keep saying clearly?

1. I am a nosy lady, I asked the owner what he said and as accurately as I remember it went something like this, Hey my friend my own daughter never gave up asking for the sweets. And she never outgrew it either. She still heads for the candy section today at 15. Thank you for your purchase, & please stop by again my friend.

2. The events as they happened like miming, made it clear what was happening and my curiosity confirmed it!

Need I say more? Check out The Site Translator why dont you, there are 610 Million people waiting to bond with you!

Are you dressed for success?

What in the world do I mean by that question is simple if you think about what you write, how you write about it and how you present it. All these things are what makes you, or paints a picture of who you are online.

So when you adventure out into the community, be sure you are dressed properly for success. There is no difference getting dressed to go to work a 8 to 5 job or going to work on line.

If you went to work without combing or brushing your hair, your co-workers would be reminded every time they made contact with you that you hair was a mess.

You could use the excuse that you were running late and in a hurry to get to work. But do you think they will buy those excuses if you did it the next day and the next?

Hardly... maybe you would be paid a visit by the boss to see if everything was okay, and if you happened to be working the sales counter, in may only take a few minutes before the boss was at your side inquiring about your appearance.

The same holds true when you write a message (post), send an email, or use any of the strategies we'll share here to grow your success, if you don't give attention to how you write and format your words, you'll find more trouble in pursuing positive success.

Here are two examples to study...

The uncaring impression and the I care about the details.

The Uncaring Impression...

When you make a post, NEVER post a message until you have used a spell checker.i write all of my posts in my email program where i can spell check before posting, once you make a post on someone's thread, you CANNOT edit it The second killer is a message not formated correctly.Using your email program to compose your message you can format the text to be readable, easy on the eyes of the reader and it will look like you care about the small details. i would never join someones team who doesn't pay attention to the small details as writing a letter or a post. if they don't have enough care or apprication for what others will think (impression), why would i think they would pay attention to my needs. So when you format your message, use properly capitalization, use paragraphs and spell check first, then post your message. Plus, when you post a message in a forum, stay with the topic, it is really a conversation you're joining. So think of your posts (messages) as part of a conversation your friends are having and you just walked up and want to join in the conversation. Stay on the subject/topic, and it you have NOTHING to add to promote the conversation, say (post) nothing as to interrupt the flow of conversation. Plus, never advertise your product in a post, unless the topic is about a specific program or request, and even at that, it is best to let your signature line do the telling for you and your profile page do the selling.

The I Care About the Details Impression...

When you make a post, NEVER post a message until you have used a spell checker. I write all of my posts in my email program where I can spell check before posting.

Once you make a post on someone's thread, you CANNOT edit it.

The second killer is a message not formatted correctly. Using your email program to compose your message you can format the text to be readable, easy on the eyes of the reader and it will look like someone who cares about the small details.

I would never join someone's team who doesn't pay attention to the small details as writing a letter or a post. If they don't have enough care or application for what others will think (impression), why would I believe they would pay attention to my needs.

So when you format your message, use properly capitalization, use paragraphs and spell check first, then post your message.

Plus, when you post a message in a forum, stay with the topic, it is really a conversation you're joining. You can have differing opinions but remember to think of your posts (messages) as part of a conversation your friends are having and you just walked up and want to join in the conversation.

We can show you how to take specific steps to build success, but one poorly written letter can undo all the good you've done.

Slow down, think about what you want to say, do a little research and then go for the touch down.

If you are going to use the Greatest Influence on your success, this is the first place to work on. Slowing down, and that is really all there is to it, slowing down, reading over what you wrote, reading it out loud so you can hear it, and then publish (post).

You'll find that as you take the time to read over it a few times, that you'll be adding more and more to the "conversation."

Have a great time at whatever you do and whatever you do, may you benefit from your efforts.
