If You Build It, They
Will Come...Or Will They?
This famous
line from the classic Mel Gibson film "Field of Dreams"
inspired one man to build a baseball diamond in the middle
of his cornfield. To complicate matters even further,
his farming business was failing but he built it and lo and
behold...they did come.
Websites on
the other hand, as Linda Caroll, our Internet Profit &
Newbies advisor clearly illustrates, do not attract
customers as easily as the baseball diamond that Mel Built.
Her article
"Why Websites Fail" discusses 5 major reasons why "Over
90% of websites could quietly disappear and never be missed
by anyone except their owners."
Kenneth R.
Sword Jr, owner of bizzyblogs.com discusses the
importance
of categorizing your blogs properly so that they are found
and found by the right people.
Last but not
least,
Alan Cheng (www.onlinemoneymachine.com)
gives you the facts on what tasks and activities you, as an
online business owner, should (and should NOT) engage in
when it comes to running your business.

Why
Websites Fail
Over 90% of
websites could quietly disappear and never be missed by anyone except their
owners. It's sad, but true.
With the vast array of "site building" tools available on the market today,
anyone can build a website. Building a website that works - is another story.
The top 5 reasons that most websites fail to profit are;
Ineffective strategic planning.
No one plans to fail, but failing to plan is a good way to do it. You need to
know who your potential customer is, looking at demographics, but also at
psychographics. You need to know how you will reach them and how you will
convert visitors to buyers. You need to know how you turn buyers into repeat
buyers.
Ideally, you will also know how to turn buyers into word of mouth endorsement
for your company. And, you need to include all of that in the planning stages of
your website.
Many "web site designers" don't know anything but design.
If your website designer does not know marketing, conversion, usability and
compatibility issues the bottom line is that you end up with a website that
looks great, at least to you, but doesn't do much to ring the cash register.
Many marketers don't know design.
The web isn't television, or radio, or direct marketing. Using a methodology
suited to another medium (such as television or direct marketing) is like
running a text ad on tv. You could, but why would you want to?
Making use of the unique aspects of marketing that only the web can offer will
result in greater response and profit than using any one offline method alone. A
few marketers are finally cluing in to the fact that layout and well chosen
graphics can vastly affect your bottom line, but they are few and far between.
Poor html development skills
Anyone can pick up a copy of Frontpage or any other such "design software" and
hang out a shingle. And they do. I have no problem with anyone building their
own site. Quite the contrary, I applaud anyone that wants to learn how to build
and maintain their own site. (That's why I offer base layout & template design.)
However, when a website designer does not know why errors occur, or do not know
that the sites they build are not browser and platform compatible - and they are
charging people for their work - their customers will pay for the designer's
lack of knowledge in lost sales.
Lack of promotion
Websites don't come with traffic at the door. A well designed website is ready
for promotion. It works in all browsers and on all platforms. It looks good no
matter what monitor size the visitor has. It works on a MAC and it works on a
PC. It works in IE and it works in Opera or Firefox. It is coded and ready for
the search engine bots. It has a mailing list database ready to accomodate the
people that will join your list or otherwise get into your conversion plan.
But, it doesn't come with a line up of people ready to buy. This seems to be
shocking to many website owners. They seem to think that if they have a nice
website, the dollars will start rolling in. Not so. Good design means it works
for everyone and is ready for you to work it. Bad design means it doesn't work
for everyone and won't work even if you do.

Is It In The RIGHT PLACE?
The Internet has made available alot of ways
for people to make money. But, many people do not understand how.
One big mistake you see is someone place wrong information in the wrong places.
I give you this idea. You walk into your grocer and do your shopping. While
there you observe the Coca-Cola guy stocking the shelf with his delivery. Then
you noticed he is putting them and mixing them in with Pepsi products. A grocer
would quickly call Coca-Cola and say, hey, your guy is doing this and it would
get him fired. Why? because it's bad business ethics.
So, if your product is not what is asked for in a forum, group, etc... create
your own so you are properly categorized.
BizzyBlogz blogs are not blogspot blogs, are not live journal blogs or wordpress
blogs ...
The better you categorize the better you get found by those looking for you.
Someone looking for blogspot members will not look into bizzyblogz for them.
They would search blogspot. Just common sense.
I hope this helps everyone in bettering their success.

What tasks should Online Business Owners
only do?
By Alan Cheng
So what does having an online business really mean? Working 18 hours a day?
Checking your email account every minute of the day? Learning HTML, PHP etc...
so that you can develop your own website?
Here are 4 major tasks which I follow for running an online
business.
1. Enjoyment
An essential part of running or starting an online business is to enjoy it. Yes,
because once you enjoy doing something you will not get burned-out or do your
job ineffectively.
If you are not enjoying your work then I suggest you to stop right what you are
doing now and think about what part of the home business you do not like. You
dont need to worry about other things for the time being. Just concentrate on
doing things you like and that are useful.
2. The Advertisement Cycle
After Enjoyment this is the most crucial element to the success of your online
business. I call it The Advertisement Cycle because its never ending. Its a
repetitive task. Advertising is what brings customers to your website. The
majority of your profit should be placed into advertisement. The more effective
advertising you do, then the more customers you will have.
Always choose the kind of advertisement that works well for your business and
concentrate on that kind of advertisement.
The last thing I want to mention about advertisement is that it should be done
non-stop. Why? Four reasons:
-
Why stop if the more you do it the more
customers youre likely to have
-
Customers dont buy from the first time
they see your advertisement. Theyll buy from you after seeing your
ads several times.
-
Even if you are doing well in your
market, you should never stop advertising. Look at Coke and look at
McDonalds. Enough people know about them but they continue to spend
loads on advertisement. The reason? People forget about you really quick. So
you have to stay on their minds.
-
Finally take a look at William Hung. See
what marketing can do? Even if you have a product which you consider to be
below average compared to your competitors, good marketing can change things
around.
3. Concentrate on making the right
decisions
You should spend time thinking about things
that will benefit your business. Decisions such as where to advertise
effectively, or what experts to hire to help you with your business, how your
product should be enhanced, how to expand your business etc...
Youre the one who cares the most about your business so you should be the one
who makes the major decisions. Avoid tasks such as programming/designing your
website, submitting articles, answering common email questions etc... These time
draining tasks should be automated or done by someone else.
Your time is better spent on developing and improving your business.
4. Serve your customers
This important concept is sadly overlooked by most home online home business
owners. Customers are the most valuable assets of your business and they should
be treated like your best friend.
Once a customer is happy with your service, they will buy from you again and
theyll also refer new customers. See how a few customers can snowball into a
loyal army of responsive customers.
So now you know.
These are the 4 critical aspects a home business owner should concentrate on.
Spend your time developing and continuously improving these areas. They should
take up the majority of your time as an owner. Leave the rest of the work to the
experts who you should hire for they know the job better than you.
You can just target on what makes your business grow and profit happily from it.
