There is a large number of quality merchants online who pay you a commission if you promote the products or services they are offering and if the visitor directed by you to their site ends up making a purchase from them. Get this right-- the beauty of the profile of the online affiliate is that you, as an affiliate, are simply required to pre-sell, to promote the merchant's product to the visitor and once he visits the merchant's website, the site takes over as far as the selling is concerned.

With scams, sub-standard products and hoaxes lurking around on the information superhighway, the average Internet surfer nowadays is a skeptic. You could warm up the visitor into a positive and receptive frame of mind by following a few guidelines:

1) Internet surfers are largely on the lookout for useful info. The more information you provide them, the better. Many of them are struggling to make sense of the endless maze of opportunities, products and services exploding on the Internet. So some well-meaning info will actually do them a world of good by helping them to separate chalk from cheese. Like suppose you are trying to promote a particular brand of car, the information you provide them could be dealing with what all to look for, the factors to be borne in mind, when making a purchase.

When you provide such info, you would be providing the visitor with helpful advice rather than bombarding him with a sales copy. And that's what could help you win the confidence of the visitor.

2) Know your target audience-- the more vivid the profile of the target visitor (the age group, the occupation, the interests...) in your mind, the more streamlined and specific your approach would be. And that would make your vision crystal clear. That would translate into a better copy which the visitor would be able to identify with. You see, a helpful advice coming from someone who cares is always preferred to a sales effort coming from a total stranger.

Got it? Your copy should be addressed directly to the visitor. That makes it a friendly tone. And your talk has to be genuine-- You've got to keep the well-being of the visitor uppermost in your mind, because if you don't, it shows!

3) Be aware of the USP (Unique Selling Point) of the product you are promoting, and try and focus on it.

4) What's in the product for the visitor, the benefits of using the same, and how, it could solve problems of the surfer should be emphasized and reinforced throughout the copy-- remember, you have the visitor's well-being in mind.

5) Know the product you are promoting well-- It would be even better if you've used the product yourself, because then you could place yourself in the visitor's shoes while writing the copy. And the visitor would ultimately be able to identify with you and the promoted product better. In such a scenario, you could in fact be sharing your experiences and relate to the audience how the product went about solving your problems and addressing issues-- how it has been just what you needed!

You've Got Less Than Half A Minute To Get A Customer

Less than half a minute conversion!

Statistics vary.....experts say that somewhere between five and eight times as many people read only the headline as the page. The headline is the billboard...The sign that grabs attention as the customer cruises by on the internet highway.

If prospective buyers were cruising through a neighborhood in search of a house, they'd only stop for a closer inspection if the first impression caused by the Exterior (headline) of the house were favorable. It wouldn't matter that the interior is perfect for them if the exterior didn't stop them and compel them to come inside.

I often decide to try, or not try, a restaurant for the first time based on the impression I get from the exterior. An attention grabbing exterior and a lot full of cars tells me there must be something good here. I'll go in and check it out.

You enter a strange city looking for a place to stop and grab a bite to eat. As you move down a cluttered street you can spot the McDonald's headline - those conspicuous golden arches - mounted high for easy visibility. The sign is unique enough and high enough to grab your attention away from the distraction of a multitude of other signs and advertisement banners.

Your headline is the most important piece of your sales page or your squeeze page. It must stand out and be unique....impossible to pass by.

There are four requirements for a successful headline:

Appearance: It should be bold, large, a different type font from the rest of the page.

Message: It must create a feeling of curiosity and urgency.

Complete: It must not sacrifice length at the expense of getting the message across.

Specific: It must target a specific type of customer with a specific need. (This is most important....aim at the bulls eye...not just the general target.)

Your headline has less than a half minute to convince the customer to come in and investigate further.

Your headline makes or breaks your list.
