Editor's Comments

Barry Scott -Digest Editor

I have had a few members contact me regarding the emails that we send out when someone clicks on a members' ad (if you have selected this option). The question that comes up the most is why can't we contact the person that clicked on my ad?

The answer is; when a visitor comes to our Adlandpro Classifieds, they are not required to log in. They visit and view the ads and of course you and I want them to view the ads.

However in order to capture email information of visitors to our website we would require all viewers to register and secondly, have them agree to being contacted by the companies who's ads they have clicked on before they could look at an ad!

Would you register so that anything you viewed on and clicked you would be agreeing to getting emails simply because you surfed a few ads? It is unlikely you would find that acceptable.

Email messages are sent to you when a visitor to our website clicks on the heading of your ad. This message is sent so you can analyze the effectiveness of your advertising. It's like simple hit counters for your ads when you have no other sophisticated tools to track your responses. It is provided to all members for free and in some cases when the viewer is a registered Adlandpro user, your confirmation email will contain a link to contact this person.

I hope this makes things a little clearer. We want as many viewers as we can get viewing your ads, we want to notify you when this happens, and in some cases when it is an Adlandpro member we will let you know who it was. Ultimately though, it is up to you to try and capture the viewers attention and their contact information.

As always any feedback or questions are always welcome, just click on my name below

Sincerely, Barry Scott Editor

Quickly and Easily Build a Large Opt in List With These Tips

By Joanne Ott

If you are marketing on the internet you must have an opt in list. This allows visitors who go to your site to leave their name, email address and sometimes phone number for more information about what you are offering.

If you leave out this step, you are leaving huge percentage of potential sales behind. Most people don't buy immediately, and once they leave your site you have lost that prospect. The other reason is because the visitor simply doesn't know you.

Having an opt in page with autoresponder allows you to build a relationship with that person you otherwise would not have.

So how do you build your list as quickly as possible? Here are some suggestions.

1. Have your own personal web site, and don't just use a company replicated web site. You should make your site with your prospect in mind. Who is your target audience? What can I offer them? Have a headline that will capture your target audience's attention right away. Having your own web site also allows you to upload your picture, and tell the reader about yourself. Generally you don't have that option with a company site. And it is crucial to your success that the prospect get to know you first.

2. Offer them a free gift for giving you their information. This could be an e-book, or article, or anything you wish that would be appealing to your prospects, and not cost them anything. Anything of value to your reader will help increase the percentage of sign ups to visitors on your site.

3. Determine who your target market is an focus your advertising on that. Ezines are one good method for this. There are Ezines on dozens of subjects so it is easy to determine the interests of the majority of their subscribers. If you are marketing a health product, there are many health ezines, likewise there are many on travel for marketers in travel businesses to advertise to. Your ads will be most effective if you pay for the top sponsor ad or a solo ad. These cost more but are certainly seen by many more people. And the more targeted the list the more opt ins you are going to receive.

4. Also be sure to have a privacy policy and post it on your site. Everyone wants to be assured if they give you their email address that they won't be subjected to spam. Assure them that their email will not be shared with anyone.

The above tips will help you build your list quickly, and increase your sales and income.

Use Email List Building to Increase Your Website Conversion Rate

By Willfred DeMarro

Email list building is one of the most important things a marketer online can do to make real money online and increase website conversion rates. You can choose to average a 1% conversion rate on your web site, with a one time sale from a visitor (a lot of marketers do this by the way), or aim for a 2-5% conversion rate every single month from your own email list. This will no doubt increase your sales per visitor on a monthly basis.

Here are 5 email list building steps that you need to increase your website conversion.

1) Build a squeeze page with the singular function of capturing names and email addresses of your visitors. If you send visitors to your main web page you may convert 10-15% of your visitors to subscribers. However, if you use a squeeze page, you should be able to convert 40-60% into subscribers. Of course this would depend on the traffic source and what you were.

2) Traffic is the lifeblood of any website so you must drive massive amounts of targeted traffic to your squeeze page.

3) Once your visitor enters their name and address into your opt in page they will be expecting valuable information from you. It is important you give your subscriber real value or they will vote with the mouse and opt out. Good content should be the order of your email messages. Remember you are not the only one competing for their inbox so send them good information and they will look forward to your next email.

4) You must build a meaningful relationship with each of your subscribers. Eliminate guesswork by asking them what they want. Answer their questions. If someone writes you an email with a question about how to do something, help them out. Most of these people will buy from you in the long run once they see they can trust you.

5) You must maintain contact with your subscribers. Mail regularly and consistently. You do not want to lose contact with them or they will forget you and not open your emails next time.

Common Technical Questions

So what is a Spider anyway?

A spider is the informal term for a computer program that browses the internet manually, usually to index pages for a search engine. Think of it as somebody that reads a page, writes down something about that page, and clicks a random link on it. Given enough time and enough spiders, a search engine can index the  contents of the internet. This is exactly how Google works, as does MSN Live Search and Yahoo.
