Despite the downward turn in the economy, holiday sales will still exist. Regardless of the times (even the Great Depression) people still found ways to spend during the holidays. If you have not started yet, time is running out to start setting up campaigns for the holidays. Some suggestions I would make that could bring interest to your ads and increase your sales are: offer, 2 for 1 deals, bonus gifts or free download gifts. They will bring attention to your ads and for some customers they may be able to get themselves something as well as provide a gift to someone else.

As always and feedback or questions are always welcome, just click on my name below

Email Marketing Plan of Attack to Increase Holiday Sales

By Karen Scharf
Many retailers are worried about the dire state of the economy and are forecasting meager holiday sales. But don't let their doom and gloom attitudes get you down. You've got email marketing on your side!

Here's a great plan of attack for using email marketing to supplement your sales during the holiday - and beyond.

Focus on growing your list.

Try to capture email addresses at every stage and every location. Get permission from warm leads, prospects, customers, even vendors to add their names and email addresses to your mailing list. Invite your on-line customers to join your opt-in list when they make a purchase.

If you have a brick and mortar location, ask your retail customers for permission to send email. Provide an incentive for joining the list that coordinates email with your brick and mortar customers, such as a 15% off coupon for in-store purchases.

Take advantage of order transactions, such as email receipts, shipping notifications, upsell offers, etc. to invite your customers to join your mailing list.

Look for ways to improve.

Email marketing is not a set-it-and-forget-it activity. Every time you send a campaign, set aside time in the future to review the campaign and measure its performance. Map out possible improvements for the next campaign. And watch for warning flags, such as extremely low open rates, delivery issues to a certain ISP, excessive bounces, etc. These problems need to be addressed immediately.

Watch for list fatigue.

You may be tempted to over-send this holiday season in a desperate attempt to increase insufficient sales. But be careful with this tactic. You're not the only retailer feeling the strain; as more and more retailers send more and more email messages, it's easy for your readers to become inundated and stop opening your mail altogether. Keep an eye on your open and click through ratesin addition to your unsubscribe rates.

Help your readers and yourself through joint ventures.

How can you help your readers get all their holiday shopping done? Is there an item or service that piggy-backs on what you already sell? Why not create a few joint venture partnerships with complimentary providers and develop a complete, one-stop shopping area for your busy readers. You can send out partner mailings and messages and make it easier for your customers to purchase the other items you know they'll be needing.

Most importantly - start NOW.

Don't wait for the first snowflake to start planning your holiday email marketing. Take time this week and put your plan together. Once the busy shopping season arrives, you won't have time for graphic design and article writing and being creative. Your competition is already planning their holiday sales campaigns, you better not wait any longer.

Issues in Web Design - What Makes a Good Design?

By Ajay Prasad
You may be on with your first website or you are redesigning the existing website, which is not functioning well. When you begin a website, your purpose should be very clear. For example-if you are a web design firm, you want to show off your high tech services keeping a particular kind of customers in mind. Keep it as simple and as direct as the functionality and purpose of the site allows you to.

A web designer has very little control on the page display since it depends mainly on the browser. However, making a webpage look similar on various browsers is challenging as well as rewarding. While creating a site, a web designer has to keep certain things in mind such as-

1. Various browsers
2. various versions of browsers
3. Operating system used by the customer
4. screen display area
5. Availability of plug-in

One thing you must remember that a website is designed keeping visitors and customers in mind. Good designers look at their website through the eyes of their visitors. For example- if you run a site, which sells a product for elderly, you should make the layout easy, the font size large and design simple.
Optimizing web pages is the most important aspect of web design. An optimized web page loads quickly on the client's system and your web visitor can quickly get the information they had come for.

Your website should reflect what your company is all about. That is why, the color is an important aspect in portraying your company. Blues and greys are considered as good colors for professional websites. The color used in your website should complement your company website's logo.

While thinking of font size on your web page, write only in browser compatible fonts, because what looks good in your browser may not look the same in your customer's browser.
Simple and clean website with little color and lots of white space can be a good site. Graphics should be few. The navigation system should consist of -

1. Left-side menu
2. Site search in the top corner
3. Major categories in the dark color bar
4. Services, shopping in grey blocks
5. Recent releases.

Photos can be effective on business websites. Well-composed photos can add a touch of class to your web pages.

Commercial web sites are built from templates. You should build a template that constructs each part of typical webpage with a hole at the centre for content. You can create page after page from the template. For each page, you have to insert a page title, meta tag content, a headline and text content.

Adlandpro Tips

Some detail into Adlandpro's products and services for the new or experienced user.

Common Technical Questions

How does my Renewable Ad service keep my ad on top or close to the top when there are so many different ads running?

The renewable ad is refreshed every hour based on the time you originally entered it. So at the moment your ad is refreshed you will be on top.

One other point to consider is the category the viewer is searching, if they look under a general category then it is possible that your ad may be a little further down the list depending on what time of the hour and the number of renewable ads are in the category the viewer is searching and in almost every instance your ad will be on the first page.

However, most viewers use a keyword when searching in general or in a category, as this narrows down the list, because the viewer will have a more specific target in mind based on the keywords.
