Social Bookmarking - What is It?

By Amber S. Smith

As there are billions of web pages listed with the search engines, finding a few that are useful for you is a tedious task. What is even worst is when you once find exactly what you have been looking for but could not track it again for future references. In this case, the choice that we generally have is to bookmark our favorite websites on our web browsers. But this becomes quite messy after a few days. Also, our bookmarks remain confined to only one computer.

Tagging for an organized bookmarking

So, the solution to this problem is a social bookmarking website where you can keep a record of all your bookmarked sites. Some of the popular social bookmarking sites are del.icio.us.com, digg.com, facebook, jumptags et al. Hence, you can gain access to your saved sites, no matter on which system you may be working, whether your home or office. On the other hand, as far as the problem of messing up hundreds of bookmarked sites is concerned, these websites give you an organized solution in the form "tagging".

In other words, when you bookmark your favorite websites on these social bookmarking sites, you can assign them certain key-words, also called "tags" that you think suits the content of the bookmarked website in the best possible way.

Hence, your favorites websites are categorized under different keywords you assigned to them. As your favorite websites are organized, you can easily search them in future as you get the several saved websites of the same keyword in an instant. For instance, if you are an English teacher and you wish to know about Shakespeare's biography, you can simply search through your bookmarks list for the tag "Shakespeare" and the saved sites that have been tagged with the same keyword will be listed.

"Social" bookmarking

However, this caters to only the "bookmarking" aspect of social bookmarking sites. What makes bookmarking at these sites more beneficial is that it is "social". That is to say, you can share your bookmarks and see bookmarks from various other site members to enrich and ease your search even more.

Apart from this, members of these sites can also easily know people who have used the tag they have been searching for and thereby search for websites that are tagged under that particular keyword by other users. This gradually causes a community of people to develop unique keywords structure to categorize resources, which is called "folksonomy".

Every user at these social bookmarking websites can categorize their individual bookmarks as private or public. Hence, you may restrict the access to your bookmarks to a group of people only and not make it public. At times, when a saved URL is not functioning any longer, these websites also make sure to inform the users who have saved that URL regarding the same.

Social bookmarking and SEO

So, social bookmarking sites are a great place for websites to gain exposure and get relevant traffic. Hence, these sites are seen as a great way to promote a website. If you also wish to see your website in high search engine rankings, you can approach a professional SEO Company that offers social bookmarking services.

This is an innovative new method for webmasters to top search engine result charts as your website is bookmarked by affordable SEO service experts at each of these sites with all possible relevant keywords, thereby increasing the web traffic at your site and contributing to your better visibility with the search engines.

An Internet Marketing Pitfall - 5 Tips to Avoiding Information Overload

By Zachariah Scott

Internet marketing is one of the most exciting career paths you can choose just because of the limitless possibilities. You can sell just about anything to anyone in the world any time you want. And with all those possibilities comes that inevitable pitfall - information overload.

The are so many ideas, so many techniques and so many courses to buy. And in the end, the result is just too much information to process and take action on. With so many ideas buzzing around in your head - it's not surprising.

If you're struggling with information overload, try these tips:

1. Learn something and take action right away: Don't get caught in the trap of thinking you need to know everything about Internet marketing before you start taking action. When you learn something new, apply what you've learned before moving onto the next idea.

2. Mistakes are a learning opportunity: A lot of people who get stuck in learning mode are afraid to take action because they feel they'll mess things up. Making mistakes is part of the learning and marketing process, so relish in your failures, learn from them and improve your marketing plan as a result.

3. Consider yourself a sponge: If you attend a seminar or other event that provides you with a lot of information on a variety of topics at once, take the sponge approach. Just take it all in and realize that you don't have to use all the information immediately - or EVER. After all, there is only so much one business can do. Instead of focusing on all the little details, try to get the big picture or main message from the information being presented.

4. Protect your email inbox: If you have subscribed to a large number of Internet marketing newsletters, you no doubt, receive a lot information and offers to buy new products. You don't need all this information. Reduce your subscriptions just to a few key ones that have truly proven to be valuable to you.

5. Say no to more courses, ebooks, etc.: It doesn't matter how much hype and excitement surrounds an information product launch. If you're already suffering from information overload, you do NOT need another course. Put yourself on an Internet marketing course diet until you've started to take action on what you've already learned.

It's easy to feel overloaded in the Internet marketing game, but if you make a commitment to remove the distractions, stay focused and take action - you'll be out of the fog in no time.

Adlandpro Tips

Some detail into Adlandpro's products and services for the new or experienced user.

Common Technical Questions

I have created an ad but I don't seem to be getting the response to me website, should I consider changing the ad?

You can consider changing the ad, but before you do that you can consider adding some extra ads first. One ad may get some responses bur setting up an ad campaign will create additional ads that can support each other and build success.

Setting up a campaign is defined as offering a variety of looks to the viewer. An important point to remember is you can have two people can be looking for the same product and come across the same ad for this product, one may react to it and one may not, this is the exact reason there has to be variety.

One ad may miss some of your targeted audience, but with three or four ads you should be able to capture almost all. Creating three or four different ads for one website, each with their own unique heading and ad body but going to the same URL starts to cover a wider audience.

You can promote your ads with one of our services or place them as free ads, the free ads can be used with the Traffic Exchange and the Impressions credits (of course credits have to be purchased alone or part of a package) and remember that the more ads you place in these promotions but you are also increasing the chances of getting hits.
