Editor's Comments

Barry Scott -Digest Editor

Ad tracking is so important and is often the first thing to let slip through the cracks of every entrepreneur's fingers. The idea of tracking your ads, especially online can be difficult even for the most astute of business persons. It's not a matter of saying my ad works at this site and not at that site or I get a number of hits here but less there.

If you are running a campaign of ads you should be looking at how each ad is doing in relation to where it is being advertised. For example: if you have four different ads that you use and ads "A" and "C" work well in one venue, ads "A" and "D" work better on another website, while ads "B" and "C" do well on another, with this type of information you can market and promote your business to its maximum potential.

What I am saying is, of course continue to run all four of your ads on each advertising  site, however, knowing how well each ad runs on each site allows you to decide which to use as "promoted" or "paid for service" for each successful ad and the sites it runs on. If you are paying to have ads promoted you should know which ones to invest in.

Remember a viewer can look at four ads for the same service and dismiss three instantly and then click on the fourth. Making sure you know how well each ad works is good, knowing how well they work and where they work best is even better.

As always any feedback or questions are always welcome, just click on my name below

Sincerely, Barry Scott Editor

5 Key Prerequisites to Successful Forum Marketing

By Terry Philpott

Many online businesses are using forum marketing as part of their overall business strategy and with much success. Forums being platforms on which ideas can be exchanged on particular topic easily allows marketers to identify the interest and concerns of the participants. Having information like this allows online promoters to bypass the time consuming and sometimes costly process of market research.

As rosy as this may all seem on the surface for online marketers there is much more involved when it comes being able to successfully market anything at a forum. This type of online marketing requires a degree of commitment. Forums, by nature are NOT open marketplaces like for instance a flea market and shouldn't be regarded as such. People arrive at a forum with questions and concerns and generally don't expect to be met with any sales tactics or pressure. In fact many forums invoke certain rules to monitor and regulate this type of behavior. First and foremost your willingness and ability to work within and abide by these rules will set the tempo for any marketing success you hope to achieve.

In order to effectively promote anything within a forum will involve a good degree of 'relationship marketing' incorporating a bit of finesse. A willingness to get involved in the discussions and contribute in a helpful manner is a primary requirement.

Let's look at 5 pre-requisites that will need to be met in order for you to increase your online marketing effectiveness within a forum:

RELEVANT FORUMS

With a little due diligence and research you'll want to select ONLY forums related to your market. This type of 'target marketing' enables you to focus exclusively on an audience most likely to have a want or need for your product. This is a major advantage you have since forums are generally clearly define for you, allowing you to pick and choose what would be the best match for what it is you market. In turn your promotional efforts should generate nothing but targeted traffic to your site.

POPULAR FORUMS

The ability to rank the forums thru page or Alexa rankings helps quickly eliminate less popular sites. By focusing on the most popular i.e. LARGEST forums allows you to better optimize your target marketing strategy.

SIGNATURE TAGS are a MUST

Part of your elimination process should be whether or not a given forum even allows the use of signature tags. If your intent is to promote anything it makes no sense to sign up if this is disallowed. If the rules do allow signature tags this would also be a good time to familiarize yourself the other rules and regulations pertaining to this particular forum.

Remember to keep your signature tag short but descriptive of your product(s) or business.

GET INVOLVED in the DISCUSSIONS – NO REALLY!

Here is where you'll your relationship marketing expertise will come into play. Within the forum don't expect you can waltz right in and start promoting. You will need to develop a reputation based upon the 'quality' and consistency of your input. To do this you will need to get involved and pay attention to what it is going on around you. Your ability to contribute over a sustained period of time will get you noticed. At this point a certain 'regard' and 'respect' should be associated with you making any online marketing efforts of yours all the more effective.

You'll find your best results will come from spending some time on a regular basis at the forum allowing you to interact with both new and old participants. This will give you different perspectives and the opportunity to get some questions answered while also being able to give intelligent answers to questions asked.

ALWAYS INCLUDE USEFUL CONTENT IN EVERY POST

Blatant online advertising WITHOUT useful content won't make you very popular or win you any friends. Avoid the temptation to allow your post to be DOMINATED by any obvious advertising attempts. Remember relationship marketing is more about subtlety and finesse and less about over the top hard selling sales pitches. Your ability to effectively use any online advertising will be tempered by the reputation you develop and MAINTAIN within the forum. You're involvement is FIRST and PRIMARILY to contribute and SECONDARILY to promote your products or online businesses. It is a delicate balance that needs to be maintained for you to be effective!

Effective forum marketing involves the ability to get involved and positively contribute to discussions BEFORE promoting anything. Abiding by the rules and regulations and gaining the trust and respect of forum members will be the key to your success.

The Meaning of Blogging - Know This and Never Be Ashamed Again

By Mavis Amouzou-Akue

What in the world is the meaning of blogging? Well, there is really no mystery behind blogs and blogging. Blogging is just another way to say writing for a website known as a blog. Of course, that means that you have to know what a blog is; a blog is a combination term that means web log, and if you think about it for a minute, a web log is just exactly what it says it is.

A log, or series of entries, that is posted online. A blog site is almost like an online diary or journal, where someone who is interested in spreading their opinion, news, or information of any sort, can reach out to the online community and have their say.

So, blogging is really just a way of publishing your ideas, thoughts, or whatever. Most blogging is done by individuals with no affiliation to any group or product, but some blogging is done by people who get paid for it.

For the most part, professional blogging is done for the purpose of marketing or advertising. If you own a clothing line, for example, one way for you to advertise that clothing might be to hire people to write blogs about it in the hopes that their articles might fuel interest in your particular t-shirts.

Businesses are beginning to latch onto the idea of blogging also; blogs - online mini-articles - about a particular need can be an effective way of getting attention to the cause.

Particularly effective, if possible, is to get influential or famous people to do a little blogging about your particular worthy cause.

Sometimes blogging can also be used as actual media that spreads news. There has been more than one occasion where a major newspaper decided to run only a small article about something that lots of folks would consider big news.

In such cases, blogging can bring the news out and get it the attention it truly deserves.

Adlandpro Tips

Some detail into Adlandpro's products and services for the new or experienced user.

Common Technical Questions

Why do your Adlandpro statistics have more hits for my websites, than my website manager statistics , which I have have always assumed to  be 100% accurate?

Here are some most obvious reasons:

  • Somebody clicked on our site but your server was down or busy and they didn't wait any longer.

  • Somebody was able to connect to our site but due to connection problems on the way between you and them, click on your link on our site resulted in unresolved domain or DNS error. Your site didn't load.

  • User clicked several times impatiently on our site on your link (each click is a hit recorded) but there was only one visit to your site.

  • Search engine or other spidering software crawled our site, encountered your ad but your stats didn't show it because stats only look for human clicks.

Remember that all website stat trackers are built differently and may not have the same capabilities to measure exactly the same. You can usually determine this by looking at trends up or down as both will show similar trends over a short period of time.
