There are signs that the economy is showing some growth again. There have been plenty of news stories and reports that indicate that the trends are stable and some are moving up. Don't start the party and assume everything is heading back to September 2007 levels, because we won't see levels like that again for years if ever. However, it is better than it has been for the last 16 months and it's a time for cautious optimism.
The purse strings are loosening up for many and they are beginning to make moves to investing and spending on projects that were on the back burner for the past eighteen months. This is a crucial time because you want to be at the front of the line when things get better and every indication is that the line may be starting to form. You don't want to wait too long, at the same time you don't want to put yourself in over your head either.
What to do? Consider this. We know the situation is improving because the smoke has cleared, the economic atmosphere is stabilizing and spending is increasing. Chances have to be taken again because without risk there is no reward. “Risk” can mean danger but it also means possibility and now may be the best time to start taking on a little risk because as economic confidence grows you may discover you are at the front of the line and the longer you wait to take a chance the farther back you may be. As always and feedback or questions are always welcome, just click on my name below
Sincerely, Barry Scott Editor

Things Web Analytics Can Teach You - What Your Traffic's
Telling You
By Nicolas I Henson
Brick-and-mortar stores often change displays, move goods around, and put impulse items beside checkouts. One reason for these changes is that they are analyzing customer traffic and are also studying behavioral patterns in order to understand how the customers shop. As an online retailer, you need to study your customer traffic as well in order to increase sales. Listen: Your Customers Are Talking
There are a lot of web traffic analytics companies, just like and , that can analyze your shopping patterns. They follow your customer's clicks to and through your web pages and give you with valuable information on how your customer's experience with your website:
1. You see which keywords bring you, not only the most hits, but also the highest conversion rates. People often find the generic words they use bring them a great deal of traffic, but that traffic averages a shorter stay on the site. So the longer that people spend on your website, then the more likely that they are to buy something. Analyzing that data allows you to check which of the keywords are much more effective for you.
2. You can also see the average amount of time users spend on your website. Because of the latent conversion, then this is a great indicator of just how the business will be in the next months. If your users are likely taking their time, looking at things carefully, that will tell you that they are really interested and will likely come back to complete the transaction.
3. You see if your traffic's leaving as soon as they start hitting your landing page-if they are, then you know that you have a problem. As soon as the users get there, then you may want to reinforce them that they are in the right place. Says John Marshall, founder and CEO of http://ClickTracks.com, "Make sure the keyword the user clicked is associated with, and strongly connected to the copy in that landing page, and throughout the experience... Just paying attention to that could probably get you a 20% to 50% improvement in your conversion rate."
4. You can see where people are exiting your site and this is very important when you have customers leaving in the middle of checkout. If you see a high rate of users, with full shopping carts, leaving on a particular page, you can pinpoint what's costing you sales:
• If they're exiting on the page where you explain shipping costs, you might see your shipping appears higher than your competitors.
• If they're leaving halfway through filling out the buyer's information, you might consider that your buyer questionnaire's too long.
The web analytics puts you in a position to see what's working on your website and what isn't. This is one way to see where you need to make changes and then measure how effective those changes are.

Common Technical Questions
I
ran out of Traffic Exchange credits and now it shows me as having negative credits, am I
obligated to pay for those credits used?
No. Our system for both the Traffic Exchange and the
Impressions (Banner/Text) display will always overrun
and produce a negative credit balance. The reason is
that when the system is aware that you account is
getting low on credits or you are at a level where it
will get ready to stop, but it cannot account for the
views that are in the queue as traffic to our site
fluctuates on a daily basis.
So
your Ad/Banner may be set up to run in the next few
minutes and because we are dealing with 1000s of
displays per hour the database cannot account for the
credits that will be displayed in queue and will run
regardless of the credit balance. Therefore the TE and
Impressions will always run into the negative which
works to the member's advantage as the member is not
accountable for overdrawn credits.
