The Realities of Internet Marketing in 2010 Without Sugar
Coating It
By Jeff Schuman
As we prepare to enter into a new year here are many reasons to be excited about marketing online. However you need to understand exactly what challenges are ahead of you and what you can do about them. I thought in this article we would talk about the realities of Internet marketing without sugar coating it. Hopefully you will be able to take these thoughts and use them to motivate yourself to become more successful in 2010.
1. Plan on doing paid advertising and not just relying on free advertising. Depending on the niche your Internet business is in will determine how much paid advertising you must do.
Your competitors are already planning on how they will increase their business next year. The chances are extremely good they will be increasing their advertising budgets as well.
It's just not reasonable to think you can build a business on the Internet today doing 100% free advertising. So what kind of marketing should you be doing?
Pay Per Click advertising on search engines other than Google is a trend I see happening. For example I know of one Internet marketing guru who gets 65% of her traffic doing PPC advertising on Yahoo.
Bing and other search engines also have programs that can provide you with quality traffic at a fraction of the price that Google Adwords charges. Go to payperclicksearchengines.com to find hundreds of ppc search engines to promote on.
2. For once in your life put some focus into your business. If you are going to be an affiliate marketer concentrate on becoming the best one you can be.
Learn affiliate marketing inside and out and implement what you learn into your business. Focus on getting one niche making money before adding another one.

The same thing is true if you decide to join a network
marketing company. Learn network marketing inside out
and use it to build as large of a business as possible.
Write down your goals and focus entirely on making money
with one website before adding another one. This tip
alone can make you a lot of money in 2010.
3. Whatever your strategy for building an Internet
marketing business be sure and incorporate email
marketing into it. This means building an email list
that you can promote to.
Anyone who makes good money on the Internet today has
a sizable email list. If these top Internet marketers
are doing it why do you think you don't have to.
This is another area where you should learn the ins
and outs of list building and then put together a
strategy to add new subscribers every day. In the long
run your Internet business will thank you.
4. The bottom line is Internet marketing is getting
extremely competitive. No longer can you write a handful
of articles and expect to generate a lot of traffic from
them.
Unless you outsource some of your daily Internet
marketing needs it's not realistic to think you can get
by working five hours a week on your business either.
The good news is there are more people making money
on the Internet today than at any time in history. If
you will buckle down and make a solid commitment to do a
few things correctly you can be one of them in 2010.

Tips For Better Networking
By Matthew Needham
How to make your networking more effectiveEver wondered how some people attend an event and they seem to attract prospects like bees to a honey pot, whilst you're standing in a corner holding your drink hoping someone will come and talk to you?
If you want to attract more business from networking events you need to learn the following keys to making your networking more effective:
Not Selling
Elevator pitch
Talk about them first
Who are your "big fish"
Own the room
Right events
Koffee
1. Not Selling
Networking is not about selling. It's about meeting people and starting business relationships. The aim is not to close the deal.
2. Elevator Pitch
Most people's impressions are formed within 10-15 seconds of meeting someone. Make those seconds count. So when someone asks you "What do you do", don't just say "I'm in accountant". Say something like, "I help businesses save money", which naturally leads to the other person asking "How do you do that?". To which you can then describe how you bring about value.
3. Talk About them first
I'm sure you find nothing more boring than someone who talks non stop about themselves. At networking events they often appear, talk incessantly about themselves, then thrust a business card in your hand and walkd off to find their next victim.
That's not a great way to build business relationships.
What you should do is ask lots of questions and find out all about you can about them.
First of all it's polite. As Dale Carneige said in the book How to Win Friends and influence people, it is bettter to be more interested than interesting.
Every question I ask, I think of ways I can help the other person. Either by introducing them to someone else or sending them some information after the event.
Also by asking questions you can decide whether they are a good contact for you or not!
Ask them for their business card. Rather than thrusting yours into their hands.
4. Who are your "Big Fish"
Attending a networking event is a little like being in the middle of sea. You are surrounded by big fish, small fish and plastic carrier bags.
You want to speak with Big Fish. People who are useful for you to speak speak to. These will be target clients, target suppliers, key influencers etc. (Small Fish are quite useful but Plastic carrier bags are no use at all).
Before you go to an event, be it an exhibition or evening events, find out from the organisers who is going to be there. Then try and work out who your Big Fish are. (After all, if you don't know who your Big Fish are, how will you know when you come across them!)
5. Own the Room
Be a host, not a guest.
Hosts, breeze in and out of conversations. They put people together. They own the room. When you're networking, pretend you are the host. It increases your confidence and helps you to own the room. Indeed, when you meet a group of strangers, you can walk up to them and say "Hi, I'm Matthew, do you mind if I join you". I've never known anyone to ever say no...
6. Right Events
To meet the right people - The Big Fish. You have to be fishing where the biggest fish swim. Make sure you only attend those events where you'll find a lot the fish you want to catch.
7. Koffee!
Remember we started this post with Networking isn't Selling. This means that the best outcome you can hope for isn't a sale, but a post event meeting over coffee with a big fish.
If a conversation is going well say, "it would be useful to continue this conversation when it's not so busy. Do you mind if I give you a ring in the next couple of days to arrange a coffee?".
Then, get their card, diary a reminder to call them, and you networking has been a success.

Common Technical Questions
I want to be an Affiliate but
what URL are you asking for?
Your affiliate link is the web site address of the page
on which you have placed your affiliate link? Once you
have placed your affiliate link code onto a page, it is
the address of that page which you must submit to our
system for approval. The link is then verified either
manually or automatically and provided the link is
correct, as it should be if you copied and inserted the
code exactly) then you will be approved.
Please note: The URL should be
the exact URL where the link is located, if it is not
your Home Page then place the URL of the page on your
website where it is located.
