Barry Scott -Digest Editor

Have you Tried to Target Your Viewers?

TARGET YOUR AUDIENCE! Now you can place a bid on selected keywords for your ads that run in the Community Classifieds! This allows you to bid on the keywords that will target the audience you want to see your ads.

Click on the link below to take you to your main control page: http://community.adlandpro.com/ppcads.aspx? (You may be prompted to log in if you are not already logged in.)

How it works is:

If you bid 5 cents for the keyword "free classifieds" and another user bids 2 cents and one more user bids 7 cents, your ad will be listed second in the search results.  To improve your ranking, all you would need to do is change your bid to 8 cents, and your ad would then be listed first.  It will remain at the #1 position until a higher bid is placed for the keyword.

Every ad in the paid keyword program benefits from:

  • Increased exposure

  • Increased traffic

  • Quality Targeted Leads

  • Instant Modification Access

  • Low Risk Factor as your only pay for the bid on the keyword if the visitor clicks on your ad and goes to your web site.

As always and feedback or questions are always welcome, just click on my name below.

Sincerely, Barry Scott Editor

Essential Things to Remember in Efficiently Marketing a Small Business

By John Ray Daniels

Marketing's main purpose is to tell your customers and prospects what you can do for them. The more effective you can do this the better results you will get. However, the common mistake committed in marketing is getting too hyped up that the campaign looks too pushy. This is something that every marketer should avoid or else they can easily lose the money they invested on the campaign.

It's easy enough to lose money on a marketing campaign, but with the right plan and strategy you can easily manage your expenses. You can always consider investing in inexpensive materials such as business card and poster printing to get your campaign rolling. There are other materials you can consider. With a good research, you can easily find the materials that will come handy to you. Here's a quick guide on how to plan and carry out your marketing campaign:

1- Know who your target market is. Who are they? What do they want? What is their cultural makeup? Knowing this important information will help you come up with a campaign that will meet your market's needs and wants. Remember that markets may seem similar at first, but each of them is actually different. This will require you to treat them differently so you can generate the best results.

2- Define what you want to say. It's important that you carefully define what you want to communicate to your target audience. Don't overcrowd your message with too many details or your audience will only get confused with what you want to communicate to them. Just tell your readers what is necessary and encourage them to contact you for more details. Keep your message short and direct to the point to encourage immediate response from your target audience.

3- Reinforce your brand all throughout the material. Make sure that all your materials have the same color, font, and style. Printing posters, catalogs, brochures, and other materials with your logo, tagline, and contact details will help strengthen your brand and provide a consistent image. If you do this well, you can be sure to convey the right image and solidify your presence in the market.

4- Distribute your materials effectively. You have to get your materials to the right customers. Come up with a good distribution plan so the right materials are distributed to the right audience. Don't send out materials until you have a good mailing list and your distribution campaign is in place.

5- Know what your competitors are up to. Keep in mind that your competitors are constantly on the look out for you. They are monitoring your business and your marketing campaign so they can come up with their own plan that will help them outshine you. Don't let your competitors outwit you. Research on their strategy so you can come up with your own plan to outperform them.

You need to work hard on your marketing campaign in order to gain success. Apply the pointers mentioned on this article to make your small business grow. Be as creative as you want so you can come up with interesting and impressive campaigns. Remember that your competitors are always looking out for ways to outmaneuver you. If you are not carefully and clever, you can easily get surpassed by your competitors.

A New Marketing Solution: The "Newsletter"

By John R Shehorn

Out of necessity the small business owner wears many hats including CEO, CFO and the Director of Sales and Marketing. With Sales so important to company growth and success, they are constantly searching for new and effective sales and marketing tools. This article focuses on an emerging and robust marketing solution used by many small businesses to help connect with people to build your business, the monthly e-mail newsletter.

It is important to create a newsletter that promotes, informs, relates or persuades so its content has to have value to the select group of members on your distribution list. You do not want to encourage "spam" so your distribution list must be scrubbed and offer an unsubscribe feature. There are Spam Laws that regulate and prevent spam so it is best to work with a respected e-mail marketing provider. We use Constant Contact, but you can use Google to find several credible service providers.

The advantages to the e-mail newsletter are many. The cost of this tool is nearly zero compared to direct mail which relies on postage. Rates for distributing 500-2,500 newsletters is only about $30/month. The Newsletter is coded so that the receiver sees it not as an attachment but as a mini-web page. As such it is HTML coded so the receiver does not have to open it as an attachment and therefore you can include hyper-links and functionality to make it easier for the receiver to use. Finally an e-mail newsletter is very fast to delivery and it ultimately it can build an ongoing relationship with your contact to become a customer.

The newsletter provides a simple platform to share information, invitations, announcements and surveys with the intent to strengthen your relationship with your contact. The e-mail service providers also can also monitor the performance of this tool by measuring how many people "open" the newsletter or even use a link or go to your web-site. This "click through rate" is only part of the new power of your Internet marketing plan. Thus your newsletter can link to your blog which provides a more in-depth discussion of the topics in your newsletter. Your Twitter and Face Book accounts can also be linked so it is easy to find your newsletter.

The challenge to creating an effective newsletter is to provide content of interest and value. Most newsletters, therefore, are only developed monthly and publishers like Key Pointe try diligently to include valuable information on events or to discuss important issues in the field of coaching and real estate consulting.

One of the fascinating aspects of running your own business is the skills you must acquire especially in areas of technology and marketing. It is squarely on the business owner to stay aware of new marketing opportunities and the e-mail newsletter offers another sales channel to connect with people who may become future customers.
