Did you know?
Months that begin on a Sunday will always have a "Friday the 13th." There will be two for 2013 and that will be September and December.
Coupons are one of the best and earliest forms of retail enticements to get people to buy things, or to keep buying them over a competitor's product. The first coupon was a hand-written slip from Asa Candler, who had purchased the Coke formula in 1894, and started handing out coupons for a free glass of the fizzy drink.
These events occurred in September:
September 9 California was admitted to the Union, 1850 (31st State)
September 16 General Motors Company filed for incorporation in Hudson County, New Jersey, 1908
September 24 The world's first transatlantic telephone cable system began its operation. Using twin cables, it stretched 2250 miles from Clarenville, Newfoundland to Oban, Scotland, and cost $42 million, 1956.
Quote: "For many in baseball September is a month of stark contrast with April, when everyone had dared to hope. If baseball is a lot like life, as pundits declare, it is because life is more about losing than winning.

By Reed Slidell
To most local entrepreneurs, marketing a small business always comes with the requirement of many hours of toil and a lot of money. But thanks to the continued advancements in technology that you can now continue with this undertaking without burning holes in your pockets and losing half of your life to sleeplessness.
A number of tactics that worked before remain effective and their aided with the new techniques which are as useful. Firstly, press releases still work in putting local businesses in the limelight. You can send them to the local or niche media outlet in your town or city.
Another must-have in marketing a small business that is still free of charge is Google Local Business Listing. This functions well with a Google+ page for your business. You need not pay for the Google Local. Simply claim it. Verify it afterwards and update it regularly. Ensure that your contact information in there is error-free. Make a direction map to your store in Google Maps. Add details like store description, locations and nearby landmarks as these will help people reach you in no time. As for your social profile page, fill it with engaging and useful content. Take advantage of the opportunity to link any of your content to one or couple of your web pages.
Got photos of your products or services? Share them through Flicker or Pinterest. In fact, you can use these applications even the relevant photos you use to match your content.

If you want local marketing in the easiest way, join the Pinterest bandwagon today. By having a keen study of your market's profile, you can pin images that will catch their attention. Moreover, you can be a fountain of knowledge for your prospective customers by creating tutorial videos related to your niche. Afterwards, post them in famed platforms like YouTube and Vimeo for quick distribution. Be active in social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Think about this - every like and post you gain could mean website traffic that is highly convertible to sales. Using Facebook and Twitter is the easiest way to share your content and link back to your business website. To keep visitors coming back to your social media pages, get ready to generate new content every now and then. How? By keeping a blog. Refrain from writing only about your products or services. Write about any topic relevant to your niche and concerns the group of people you are targeting.
Lastly, marketing a small business effectively includes knowing the statistics that rates the quality of interaction displayed your target visitors with your websites. Getting a lead of where your website is scoring high or low can give you the opportunity to make the necessary modifications for you to achieve your long and short-term goals. With Google Analytics you will know the average time a visitor stays in your website and the pages they go to.

Effective Insights On Creating A Good Business Name
By Reed Slidell
A good business name is a company's trademark. It is the label by which you make transactions with your customers. Moreover, it has both legal and marketing factors which must be highly regarded. Choosing the exact word or words that will summarize your entire business into one great label could be very challenging. In fact, most small business owners settle with their second or third choices as their first options are always taken. There are times though when entrepreneurs pursue the company name they want despite legal risks - infringement of intellectual property rights - just to get a ride of the wide recognition that already comes with it.
In the legal standpoint, a label that is non-descriptive makes a good business name. This could be the exact opposite of what the marketing standpoint demands. Description of business name is crucial in making your audience understand the nature of your products or services. This goes to show labeling your company needs the best efforts from your advertising and legal teams. While you take into consideration the interest of your customers in mind, you must think of your company's safety too.
Now, let us now go to some details. In your aim to acquire instant recall, do not fall into the trap of playing too much with the words. Yes, your business could be easily remembered with the funny label that you created. However, customers may get confused of the real deal behind your clever label. When choosing business names, ensure that your pick sounds professional enough to gain the confidence of your prospective clients.
There was an era when people became big fans of abbreviations. This helped entrepreneurs somehow to communicate with ease. This works well for big companies up to this date. But for small business, abbreviations may just work the other way around. More often than not, big companies have already existed for many years. Whether abbreviated or spelled out, no one could miss on their names and the brands they represent. Small business would need more opportunities to prove in order to reach that level of recognition.
Moving forward, stay away from including words like 'enterprises', 'global' and 'international' especially if your company is just starting. Such can take your focus off your objective of specializing in a single product line or service first. You can opt for a name change once you are capable of offering what these big words imply.
Although your small business is operating in the local market, never confine your company name to your geographical name. You can actually include the city where your store could be found. Along with the opportunity to be in the directory list of local businesses by city, you will reap search engine optimization benefits if you are keeping a website to reach your market.
Never be in a rush when thinking of a good business name for your venture. Ensure that the label you have in mind is available, free of legal troubles, functional, memorable, unique but recognizable and web friendly.

Common Technical Questions
In my Impressions and Traffic
Exchange pages, what is my CTR % and what does it mean?
CTR % is the Click Through Rate,
which is the number of times an ad or banner is
clicked on compared to Views. As an example 100
views and 1 hit, would give you a CTR of 1.00
meaning your ad has a click thru rate of 1 out of
100 views. A good measure or standard to look for is
0.20%, anything over that is probably giving you
some leads, less than 0.20% and you should consider
editing the ad or changing the banner.
