Yvonne Decelis, the news editor for MSnewsChannel, wrote this collection of essays over approximately three years while she was obtaining her degree in Gerontology at the University of Massachusetts in Boston. Mrs. Decelis goes over what living day-to-day with the "invisible Disabilities" she has (Multiple Sclerosis and Fibromyalgia) has been like for her.
The "intended audience" for this book is fairly wide, but the people Yvonne most strongly identifies with are others who have conditions that are not easily seen. Her original statement with regards to why she was writing this book was "because I don't want anyone else to go through the things I did. An online support group she joined shortly after being diagnosed with MS, Stan's MS Angels, inspired her to write this. Since she took enormous comfort in finding others she could communicate with online, she also doesn't want people to think they are isolated in the trials and hardships they face.
