Hello Bogdan
I'm just curious as to how spam gets advocated? Melanie,
perhaps you didn't understand that I'm the one that got
reported for spamming. Thanks for the input though. I've
never reported anyone but I still don't like it. I believe
that there is enough opt in lists that people can sign up

for and get all the offers they want. I believe that if
you place an ad in the classifieds you don't want another
persons offer especially if you've paid for it. The problem
with me was I emailed a prospect(suspect) after he had
requested information on my company. He either forgot or he

lost his way somehow :) Perhaps someone could give an opinion
on that! You know you can email with remove and be taken
off my mailing list and Melanie I don't believe you're going
to be kicked out of the digest. LOL

I totally agree Colleen! I do not send spam people my thing-I just
delete them-BUT EVEN if I read it long enough to think it was something
I would be interested in-I would NOT join under who spamed me! People
also LOVE to "steal" your email from classifieds you post! I post a
bunch of classifieds at once-about once a month or so-so 3-7 days after
I get about 100 emails everyday-that I just delete!

I would like to let the subscribers get some fresh information about
safelists and maillist systems like onelist.com or listbot.com .
I have now since 11/01/98 been member of all the lists I could find. Not
because I wanted to read all the mail, but because I wanted to find out
if all the "wonderful easy money " was a reality or it is only a very
very little percentage who really make money on different MLM or Network
systems. Approximately total of MLM lists Onelist.com - egroups.com -
listbot.com is giving the following result for the passed nearly 8 months.

Onelist.com - approximately 7.000 email per day
Egroups.com approximately 2.000 email per day
Listbot.com approximately 1.000 email per day.
Topica .com approximately 500 email per day. ( Only since 05.01.99)

Of these 10-11.000 MLM email per day there is an average of NEW mailers
for around 50 -70 per day.
The rest is ALL the same people - the same advertises - the same headers -.
I suppose there is also a lot, which do not mail except occasionally -
BUT it's the same picture.
Everybody mails to everybody and the result is that most of them are only
mailing - not reading!
The real potential is the 50 -70 newcomers per day and off course if you
have a product of service fitted for all the rest.
I now know nearly all the known names email or "used" names. For me its
clear that this is not the big market for getting fresh leads - but it's
a good opportunity for Companies who want to have MLM or Network resellers.
You reach nearly all of them using these lists.
For the so-called "Safe to mail lists" the picture is a bit different -
here is more new people coming and more new opportunities being announced.
You just have to consider your safety giving away your email address to
a Safelist. Those lists which are collecting their members emailaddresses
and publishing them for member use from a "password " protected WEB site -
nearly always result in somebody forgetting to hide the names and your
address is all over the Internet!
Most of these safelist are paid safelist - from 5 -50 $ onetime or per
year - and what do you get for your money?
Mainly really NOTHING you could get free from somewhere else. Its very
used to collect a lot of so-called FREE stuff and let the members have
it as a kind of benefit for their paid fees. Most forget this is NOT the
list, which are giving this away, but a lot of other WEB sites, using it
to attract traffic! . It's a perfect way for beginners to get a lot of
information from ONE place - here its real a big value for the money.
There is only very very few lists, which real are giving, value for the
money and where you can be sure of the safety of your email address.
My personal conclusion is that both the safelists and the lists at onelist
- egroups - listbot can be used mainly for service minded systems where
the main target is the experienced Networkers. You reach them all here!
A very common used technique  - ALL of them (nearly) are not using a
domain email - BUT Yahoo - or Hotmail or others - even as the same email
name but with a number added - and also a very big percentage answer back on
your mails with autoresponder . You can easily judge who are really serious
looking at the email addresses.

For people who wants quickly to follow what is going on - the list are really
useful and gives quite a reliable information about where the majority is
heading! The total number of addresses from this survey is 12.000 different
email addresses for the period 11.01.98 -06.15.99.

I have more information about this and if the list wants I will in later
edition publish this too. !

Hi there!  For the last year I have been on the net 24/7.  Adlands was
the first e-ziine that offered any real help to a newbie.  For a newbie
24/7 means 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  The net offers many new terms
that you will need to get used to.  Since writing e-mail sometimes it is
hard to express what actions you are doing while reading.  Like smiling
when you respond to the letter  type in this =)  this is the equal
sign and then press the shift key and the number 0 key to make ) this is
a cute design.  Another way to express yourself if you are laughing out
loud at something funny.  Respond with LOL = Laughing out loud.  These
are great short cuts and a great way to express yourself and actions
when the other party can't see your response.  And if it is really a
super dupper funny thing you can type back ROFLMAO = Rolling on floor
laughing my *a* off .  I am trying to keep this clean.  You can fill in
the *A*  I think you get the picture!

Actually these are abr.  I learned from chatting on line.  But it is
something that is very effective.  when you respond with some of these
cute things the person on the over end if they don't know what they mean
will write back and go what the heck does these things mean.   It gets a
response and it's a great ice breaker.

Thought I would share these with you all.  I love using them and thought
the group would love to learn and use them as well.

Now I need help!
After spending 24/7 over the last year on here I have finally figured
out what direction I was going to take.  And I need help and was hoping
that Adlanders out there maybe able to come to my rescue.  What I need
are URLS (websites) to be place in my new search directory for
entertainment.  If you have an entertainment site.... no sex sites
please...... I will be more then happy to place your site for FREE.  You

To buy or not to buy...That is the question...

Apologies to the Bard! I have tried most EVERY free method of advertising
out there with minimal success.  (yeah, you get about what you pay for!)  My
traffic is just a trickle.  Just curious for some SPECIFIC suggestions from
Adland list members.   If you had only $25 to spend to promote your site,
what would you buy:

E-zine ad space (which ones)?
Banner exposures?
Promotion software?
Traditional print ads?

I am NOT promoting a get rich quick scheme, so I know it will take a while
to get my hits up.  I was just hoping for some constructive advice from more
seasoned marketers.

I understand that  you might have limited budget  but I can tell you
right now that  spending  $25 won't affect your Internet presence
significantly regardless where you spend it. You will need to spend
several  $25 buying all sorts of advertising and testing what works
best.
Your question if you should advertise
in

can be answered yes to all of it.

You should advertise through all possible  channels. Your results will depend
not on where (which medium)  you advertise but how you advertise and what.

If you will advertise  business opportunity in health e-zine, your chances to
get your return  are next to none. People might be even annoyed with your ad,
but if  your message is sent to  people looking for your business offer and your
message has catchy headlines, you might get much better return than expected.

To sum it: Spend smaller amounts of money for different types of advertising and
observe your results. Track  effectiveness of your advertising. If it worked,
repeat it with larger buy and do again evaluation of your advertising by analyzing visits,
sign-ups and purchases from this particular source.
Advertising on popular sites with large traffic might not be the best answer for
anybody with small budgets. Look for smaller targeted sites in your area. Sites which
are being visited by your potential customers.
I can be your potential customer not necessarily because I need your product but
because I went to site which  was related to your product in some way and being
in that state of mind   I might use your offer.

But remember getting visitor to your site is one thing but second is to actually keep
them there and make it comfortable enough so he/she will be willing to buy from you
or accept your offer.

I think today's guest article is touching on some of this issues.

The site is well designed and looks good although-the top right banner
says Home Daycare Record Keeping system-But it takes you to One stop
Parties instead-no info on daycare recordkeeping. I personally would put
a horizontal line between your info and your banners Like- HR size="5"
color="#800000" would look good on your page. Then your 1st 4 banners
I would put all on one line no <p> in between each one since they are
small. I like the checks you design. You also can make you own forms
with html-instead of using a compnay's form-go to www.htmlgoodies.com
the have tutorials there free.

I use IE5 and the boxes are blue-but the links and underlined are white.
I would word it like-Our Blue Menu tables are to the left-Feel free to

who has been on the net for more than 1 day-knows to scroll and click
underlined links. Other than that-very colorful!

Don't Advertise in the Dark! Advertise Smarter!

As you work in this business year after year you learn that
there are many ways that you can cut your expenses and become
more economical in your approaches to marketing your products,
services and/or programs. One way you can minimize expenses
is by testing the ads that you are using.

Everybody always talks about testing publications or asks
what publication does the best. That's a good question to ask
but you need to consider the other half of the equation.
What about the ad you are using. You could advertise in the
best publication in the world but have a lousy ad. Of course
when that happens it is usually the publication that takes
the bad rap! "Yeah, I tried that publication and I didn't get
any results.."! If you are getting minimal results from your
ad, you might need to step back and take a look at it.
You may be just throwing your advertising money away.

Whether you are marketing a product, service or a program,
you should have several different ads for each. You need to
test each to see how it does. One way to do it is to take
two different ads for the same product or service. They
should be similar in size but different in setup and copy.
Run one in a publication of your choice and then run the
second one in the next issue of the same publication.

It is important to "key" each ad differently so that you
can tell what ad and publication the response came from.
One of the easiest ways to key an ad is to use the two
step method, i.e., use an email address in the ad for more
details and then send them the details. This way you can
tell them in the ad to put a specific phrase in the
subject of the email like: "Home Income 99" and "Income At
Home". You would use one for the first ad and the other for
the second ad. That way you can track and analyze the results.

You want to test both ads in separate issues of the same
publication so that you can tell how each ad pulls responses
and then compare the results. You then try the same test with
the same two ads in another publication. If one ad seems to
pull better than the other, get rid of the bad one. It might
also work out that you end up using a combination of both.
Of course you can conduct the same type test with your
offline advertising.

Many publications have ad specials where you pay for two
insertions, you get a third free, or a similar combination.
When you place your order, send both your ads or even three
slightly different ads and ask the publisher to change the
ad in each issue.

You want to get the best results for your advertising money so
you need to know how the ad does. And the only way you can
find out is by testing it. Once you have a great pulling
ad and a great publication to put it in, you are on your way
to success!
