This month we tested 4 banners (10,000 impressions each)
to see what their CTRs would be. Can you guess which one
got the most clicks and which one got the least clicks?

  http://www.bannertips.com/BT014_banners2.shtml

Of those 4, the best CTR is 30% higher than the worst CTR.

Once you've had a look and made your guess, check out
the actual stats:

  http://www.bannertips.com/BT014_answers2.shtml

The banners were all linked to http://www.AssociatePrograms.com
which, if you haven't yet been there, is worth checking out.

The variables tested were:

currency symbols: Which is better, a bunch of dollar
signs or several different currency symbols?

"newsletter" vs. "directory": Which is better in a
headline, a "free newsletter" or a "free directory"?

  long headline vs. short headline.

And the results are:

(1) Dollar symbols are better than other currencies. The
banner with dollar signs pulled 17% better than the same
banner with 5 different currency symbols on it. Remember,
this test was a run-of-network test on the LinkExchange
network, so the banner was shown in all parts of the world.

(2) "Free Newsletter" is a better headline than "Free
Directory", it pulls 31% better. Makes sense because
most people already have their favorite directory picked
out, but are probably still looking for their favorite
newsletter (or at least another good one that is free).

(3) A long headline may or may not be better. The long
headline did better than the "Free Directory" headline, but
not as good as the "Free Newsletter" headline. I guess you'll
just have to experiment and see which does better for your
particular headlines.

We will continue to test banner variables in future months.
Feel free to send suggestions on which variables we should
test to: btListComment@bannertips.com.

Hi everyone

I have just made some major changes to my website

Could you please review my site and give me your comments good or bad.
Any comments would be welcome as they would help me and other readers.

Could you also tell me of any reliable Credit Card processing services.
I can not afford to pay a monthly fee so I am looking for a service that
will take a cut of the  payments, something like 8 - 10% and then pay me
the rest.

Thanks

Taking Web Marketing Personal:
Tips for Personalizing Customer Service
On Your Web Site

Dahna M. Chandler
© 1999 All Rights Reserved

You've created an e-commerce site on which you offer a great products or
services at a competitive price. The site is professionally design, attractive
easy to use and all links are live. You've made it easy for your customers to
buy from you by adding multiple secure payment options.

You're filling orders in a timely manner and correctly most of the time.
You've dedicated a page on your site to "FAQs" to help customers troubleshoot.
Because you've created the epitome of e-tail nirvana, you're attracting a lot
of e-tail traffic and may actually make a profit on your site. So you must be
doing enough for your customers, right? Well, not quite.

E-tailers often believe that selling products or services from a web site
precludes the need for a customer service staff. This was true in the early
days of e-commerce. But just as they have in brick and mortar enterprises,
e-marketing techniques are changing to meet customer demands.

E-tailers can no longer afford to believe that because they usually don't
have direct contact with their clients, they're off the hook for providing
the human interaction and personalized service their clients want. That
assumption leaves them on the hook for continually attracting new business
rather than working to sustain a loyal customer base. This is an expensive
proposition for any marketer.

A quality experience for today's e-tail purchasers includes e-marketing and
service relevant to their individual needs. Your customers want to know you
value their business. They want increased direct contact with your company
staff. Make each customer a valued customer by developing personalized marketing

relationships with them.

There are a number of ways to provide human interaction and personalized
service on your web site. These five will get you started:

1. Having a designated customer service rep (you if you're the sole proprietor
in your business) available to answer questions by phone, fax and/or email.
Since most small businesses cannot afford to hire full time customer service
support, voice mail or even an answering service is a viable option.
Use autoresponders to respond to customer inquiries by email. Then respond
promptly, within 24 to 48, to customer phone or email inquiries. Finally,
make your fax machine dedicated; give it a separate phone line and leave it
on 24 hours a day.

2. Create and offer an e-zine or newsletter relevant to your product or
service that provides your customers with useful tips on using your product
or service more effectively. If your site provides business services, offer
business-building tips relevant to your service.

3. Create a customer database. Find out as much personal information as yo
u
can about your customers. Their preferences, number of children, date of
birth and the products on your site that they most frequently purchase. Use
the information to make special offers to your customers or start a birthday
club and offer  discounts or free gift to your customers on their birthdays.

4. Offer your customers incentives in exchange for their business. Request
their feedback on your product or service and take it seriously enough to
implement customer ideas. Have new product naming contests or sweepstakes
with multiple entry opportunities for each purchase. Start a frequent buyers
club for your top customers.

5. Offer complementary services as an inducement for buying your products.
Offer gift-wrapping services, for example. Or consider an alliance with a
compl imentary product or service provider and offer their products or services
along with those of yours they purchase. Also, offer your products in different
forms. For example, if you sell books, sell an audio-recorded version of your
books as well.

The number of ways to personalize customer service on your e-commerce site
to add value to your products or services is endless. Be creative. Think
about your current product or service offerings and consider what you'd want
to be offered as a motivation for purchase and repeat business.

Personalizing service offerings on e-commerce sites is no longer just an
option. Customers now expect it as part of your service. It also can be
relatively inexpensive if you innovate. But you can bet if you don't offer
increased human interaction and personal incentives for customer loyalty to
your e-tail enterprise, your competitors will.

Foundational Reason #1 People Fail at Network Marketing:
IT'S TOO CHEAP!
copyright 1999 Leon Brickey

Network marketing is now HOTTER THAN EVER! What with
all the downsizing and layoffs these days network marketing is
attracting more and more people from all walks of life than ever
before. Also the fact that you are seeing some major companies
start to offer network marketing/MLM type programs hasn't hurt
either. Some of these are EXCELLENT PROGRAMS.

I see one major flaw with network marketing/MLM type business
opportunities?.

They're too cheap!

What Leon??Too cheap??..ARE YOU CRAZY??

No I'm not crazy. (I don't think.) :-)

Hear me out on this.

Most of the higher quality network marketing business
opportunities charge you a start-up fee for marketing materials,
training, newsletters, etc. It's usually a very reasonable fee
anywhere between $50 to $2000 depending on what you are
looking at.

There are a few good free business opportunities online and offline,
but more often than not the pay plans are set up in a way that
keeps most of the money in THEIR checking account. Not in
YOUR checking account. Or they just don't have the credibility
and recognition to make the better marketers want to join and
put their time into working that business.

I'll go a step farther and say that so many of these free "fly by night"
associate programs on the internet, are hurting all of our businesses.
When you allow ANYBODY to get involved for free, look out! You
may have no trouble getting sign ups, but what kind of people are
you getting? If 98% of the associates never get a check negative
word of mouth will destroy you in a short time!

So let's say you can get into a good network marketing business for
anywhere between $0 to $2000. (Be VERY cautious of an mlm that
charges more than $2000 to get started.)

$1000-$2000 is a significant amount of money to you and I probably,
but when you think about the start-up costs of a traditional business,
it's a tiny drop in a great BIG bucket!

-what would it cost to set up a sporting goods store?
-how about an appliance store?
-T-shirt shop?

At least hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not MILLIONS.

How about franchises?
They were HOT for a while; some still are.

How about a franchise with:
-Kentucky Fried Chicken
-McDonalds
-or Pizza Hut?

Anywhere from several hundred thousand to over a million dollars
to get the franchise and you still have a TON of things to buy!!

I didn't have over a million dollars to buy a McDonalds franchise and
I dare say most of you don't either.
(If you can GREAT, but most can't.)

But I could come up with $100 or $500 to get in on a solid network
marketing business that offered the same or greater opportunity for
a fraction of the start up cost.

I see a lot of folks online and offline these days who don't look at it like
that. They see it as a free or VERY inexpensive business and then put
forth about that much effort. Either zero effort or a couple hundred dollars
worth of effort.

You will NEVER make it like that in any business.

Some people get in, pay their start up fee of $200, and then bitterly
state: "That's it! I'm not putting another dollar in this business till I recoup

what I just invested!"

Hey folks? That's NOT the winning attitude.

However?
What if you saw this awesome business opportunity?.and let's say it costs
you $250,000 to get in on the business.?and let's say you had or could get
your hands on the money to get involved if you chose to.

If you decided to get into that business:
-Would you waste your time?
-Would you let anybody else waste your time?
-Would you waste time trying to recruit associates and customers who
weren't interested in your business?
NO! You have too much at stake! You have too much riding on the deal!

Would you be up and at it every day?
Would your attitude be up and positive?
YES! You have too much at stake! You have $250,000 riding on this
business!

People, if you'll treat YOUR associate program or MLM opportunity like it
cost you $250,000 to get involved I can almost certainly guarantee you
SOME amount of success! But if you treat your business like a free or very
inexpensive business and only put in little or no time and effort; you are
sure to fail! Don't focus on the money involved to start; focus on YOUR
FUTURE!

People look at a network marketing business like they have nothing to lose;
when in fact they have EVERYTHING to lose.

Work your business like you've got $250,000 invested and watch it explode
right before your eyes!

Thanks
Leon Brickey
