I can answer this :)  This is a "new" type of internet that runs off the
current internet, but in a "private" network.  What this means is that none of
trash (aka: porn/hate/how-to-build-a-bomb/spam garbage) will be allowed on
it. This will make it safe for all ages (kids especially) to be on it without
parents being worried about what their kids see.

It is also a 100% secure network as it runs on fiber-optics, not satellite.
This part is highly technical so I won't go into it here.  As to how it will
affect the internet as we know it?

Nothing bad will come of it if that's what you mean - the internet will
still be here.  The private network PRSI is pulling together will be real
time - you'll be able to talk to people in different languages and
understand them in  your own language (hence opening up a *huge* new
audience).  It is not a scam in any way if that's your concern.

I suggest you get on one of their conference calls, or email myself or
someone you know involved privately.  PRSI doesn't allow advertisements at
this point because several abused it by changing the approved ads.  This
will change again soon <hopefully>.  But be assured it is real and worth
looking into.

Q: What's this all about?
A: An MLM scheme!

IMHO, PRSI Inc. (Professional Resources Systems Int'l will have no special impact at all.
No more impact than any other MLM (Multi-Level Marketing)
company. At least as much impact as any other MLM company,
which depends on the way you see the impact it brings,
and the way it * affects * ($$) people.


A quick search in "search engines" under "PRSI" or "PRSI Inc."
will show up a bunch of affiliates sites, most hosted on free
web hosting space or ISP's free space, whom give very few
information, but hype, and ask you to provide your personal
information to send you a package through *snail mail*.

Well... we're on the Internet... aren't they able to provide
information right away on the Information Super-Highway?
Especially from people whom claim technology break through!

Moreover, most of these sites are self builded by their owner
and a lot of the links -on the engines- leads you to moved pages
redirected to something else or "404 file not found".
Why is that for? You may ask! (see advice above)

Anyway, you won't find their corporate web site (I had to guess
to find it) in the engines (technology break through?) nor any
of the "SOHO Systems (tm)", basically a personalized web page with
e-commerce capabilities, which they sell for 295.00$ setup +
125.00/mths fee. Very, very expensive IMHO, since you can have a
full range high-tech, very fast dedicated Internet server with all
the bells and whistles for that amount of money.

Aren't they able to show us a demo site before we throw in such
amount of money? Vaporware?

Technology Hype:
They claim using VPN (Virtual Private Network) and Intranet
(which is in fact a kind of mini www on a Local Area Network)
technology to build a system which is suppose to "attract
thousands of Cyber Merchant (tm)".

They claim, "Membership is very important on the I3(tm) Intranet
because ONLY members can sell products. Users from the existing
Internet will be able to surf the I3 and buy products and services
from us, but they cannot sell anything on our private network
unless they are a PRSI member".

Humm... can anyone tell me what more will this do than an actual
Virtual Mall? Or any other self replicated web sites for affiliates/
resellers program? In which way will this be more effective than
anything else to bring traffic and buyers to your site?

I'll tell you... ...nothing!

Personally, I'm not impressed at all.
This is just an approach! A wording!

Whichever is the business you are involved in on the Internet, the
technology you're using WILL NOT bring you more sales and make
you more money. It is strategies and marketing implemented with
the help of different technologies that will make the difference.

Compensation: hype on Hype
Again, wording!
"...the Wave 4 Marketing Plan(tm). We feel it is the most unique
compensation system ever devised."
Not at all! Nothing new here, just the wording and the use of new
TM's names (Cyber Managers(tm), Cyber Platforms(tm),
Cyber Structure(tm), etc.) to describe their compensation plan,
with the same unattainable commission structure for most (99%) of
the people.

Whatever they say about their comp plan, it is laughable.
Moreover, it's obscure... and "The Wave 4 Marketing Plan(tm) will be
covered in depth in our Online Field Operations Policies &
Procedures Manual and in the Master Merchant Training College."
(after you've paid your 295.00$ of course) BE AWARE!

But why do they (most MLM companies) make it so hard to achieve?
You may ask.
Simple... you need to qualify in order to get a certain level of
commissions, which can *possibly* be a lot of money, in your dreams,
but where do you think that the commissions are going if you don't
qualify? That's right... if they don't have to pay it, they keep it!

They're building their commission structure on proven facts that
they don't want you to know.

MLM history (or Network Marketing) Cold Hard Facts:

-Objective historical fact has shown that 99.9% of MLM companies
are out of business within 5 years!
-In almost 53 years, out of the tens of thousands of MLM
companies, only 30 companies have lasted more than 5 years!!!
-9 out of 10 of us do NOT want to be in sales! (or pestering
our friends & families)
-99 out of 100 of us are NOT recruiting types!
-99.9% in MLM will only sponsor a handful of people and only
have around 20 active people in their business and rarely on
more than three levels!
(this is why you'll see biggest commission % buried way down
  the line)

Why is this all happening? Attrition, is the answer. If you can't
put 300.00/mths of net income, within 90 days, in the average
(not sales type) person's pockets, they'll quit.

Fortunately, paradigm shifts are appearing in the MLM industry and
we're starting to see a few less greedy compensation plans, which
offers 60% to 70% on the first 3 levels. This will provide a lot
more chances to succeed for the average person.

Jerry Garner suggested using target="_new" instead of target="_blank"

A couple of months ago I received an email from a person saying that
some of the links on my site were not working. The links not working
were the ones going to other domains and had target="_new" on them.
After experimenting  I found they  worked if I changed them to

If I remember correctly he was using Windows NT with Netscape. For some
strange reason, it did not recognize the target="_new" tag.

I often check out the ads in the ezines I subscribe to.
Loyalty, participation and nature of the beast..  *s*
So, I checked out this ad. Know what happened?

I loaded a blank white page with a banner at the top.

Being in the website design business, we have
multiple (current & older) browser versions loaded
across three systems so that we can check sites
we create for browser compatability.

So... I tried another browser and the site loaded fine.
The first thing that came to mind is that not everyone
keeps multiple browsers on their computer, right?

The site sells a service targeted to list owners who
need/want more subscribers.  There's a LOT of
those out there!  Problem is, any list owner that uses
Netscape Communicator 'isn't invited'.  The site is not
browser compatable and would not load in any
Netscape or Communicator version from 4.08 down.

So... who's losing money?

Why did I bother to write?  For the simple reason that
people often say they got 'bad results' from an ad,
when the problem is the website 'behind' the ad.
In this case, only IE users can "use" the service
because the page doesn't load in Netscape.

On the web, you never get a second chance to
make a good first impression.  What's yours?
Is your site fully browser compatable?  If you really
don't know, you just might want to find out before
you pay for advertising to 'pump' the website.

I continue to learn alot from your digest and I thank you. I got connected to
the net sometime in March '99 and subscribed to it almost immediately. I am in
Nairobi Kenya and not many Kenyans are connected to the Web  and so I am one of
the lucky ones. I have learnt a lot from your Digest and infact got involved in
the IBC10 ( ) program through an ad in it.

My personal however interest lies in connecting people looking for friends and
therefore in personals and I am an affiliate of the One & Only Network
( My interst is not motivated by money but I
would be quite happy to make some. What I do is that I advertise in local
newspapers for people looking for International friends and then place their
responses on my site for them. Sample ad:
"I have many Kenyans looking for mates. Would you like to meet a Kenyan? Please
email me at"
I charge a small fee to cover my net & phone charges. I have recieved good
success especially with men responding to ladies ads. The problem is ladies do
not respond to male ads despite the fact that a lot of ladies have placed ads on
the net.

This is therefore to request for advice on personals sites that I could place
ads in and where I can get a lot of responses.

I am now considering taking this up more seriously as I have recieved many
requests for International friends and also I have made about US$ 400 in the
last three months.

I’m wondering what others think about long and short ads and the quality of
I’ve been thinking about the use of repetition in ads.  For example sometimes
pages of pretty meaningless stuff are repeated in a childish formula to embroil
the mind so much maybe people think they are reading the work of an `expert’.
It’s so time consuming I won’t look at these. Other times complex information
has to go out in a series that is not so much repetition but a way for people
unfamiliar with concepts to adjust to them and understand.  For short ads – I’ve
been wondering lately what has happened to our sense of art and playfulness?  I
thought back to the ads, which unerringly have stuck in my memory since
childhood – inevitably they made me really smile with their rhythm, colour and
absurdity.  I think too many ads hit us with power words.  Out of all the ads I
saw recently the one that I remember (with relief?) used the name 'Lady of
Leisure' whose leading phrase was `bed-pan bullets’!  Health products in fact –
but memorable in the welter of health product ads.  It can be reassuring knowing
you are going to contact someone with a light touch and a balanced sense of
humour.  I mean when did you last want to go to the headmaster’s office?

How to Grow your business using online chats.

Mention online chat to most people, and you will get a look
that says they question your integrity and morals.  But
online chats are not ALL pornography.

Using Chat properly you can increase your business 100%!

What is "properly"?  First, it is finding out where
your target market gathers online.  Whether you are
looking for buyers of your consulting services for
legal or personal coaching, or your products from
candles to xylophones, there is a group somewhere on
the Net who meets regularly that can use it.

Think of live chats as a 24 hour Chamber of Commerce
networking opportunity.  With the added bonus of
not having to leave your desk to attend.

To find the group that would use your service or
product, here are some resources to help you: (You can add
someone to your "friends list" inside Yahoo's chat
- look at their profile to see if you have things
in common.  Get their e-mail address and ask if you
can write to them to learn more about their business
and how you can help them to grow it.)  (
has a great selection of chats to choose from. They have
scheduled times for topics, will allow you to host your
own scheduled chat (and announce it for you!)  All you
have to do it send them your name and credentials, what
your topic is and when you want to host the chat.)   (Just click on
Chats and Forums in the left index)

These chats offer a variety of "rooms" for you to
choose from.  Many give you the option of using html
or Java chats.  You can attend scheduled chats on a
particular topic that interests you, or just "hang out"
to meet and greet new people.  Look in your own local
newspaper's online edition and see what they offer in
the chats and discussion sections.

Some do's and don'ts in being a good chat guest:


Say hello to the room when you enter and wait to see
what others are typing before you jump in. (You wouldn't
walk up and interrupt a conversation at a Mixer, would

It is just as true in chat rooms as it is on discussion
boards and in realworld - Give before you get.

Answer questions when you know the answer.

Visit the chat as often as you can to become a part of the
community there - build trust with the other members.

Fill in your profile with contact information so other
guests can see who you are and read about your business.


Flood their servers with advertisements that will cause them to
ignore you (If you see someone talk about the "IGGY" button,
that is a button that allows each chat member to ignore a
person in a chat room)

Start right off talking about your "great" business opportunity.
(Remember that there are thousands of chatters all wanting to
promote their own business)

Insult someone in a chat room.  (You never know WHO may hear you!)

By following the guidelines above, you will have an enjoyable
chat experience and meet some great people. If you find that one
isn't the right chat for you, pick another one until you find a
group that fits.

Just think of all the people who could use what you are offering
and go where they are.  Happy chatting!

Ads Not Pulling? Don't Blame the Publisher Yet!

We all work hard to write  that hot prospect pulling ad but many times we
get little or no response at all. Publishers take alot of heat when it comes
to this problem. Just the other day I listened as an ezine publisher told a
story of a guy who wanted all his money back when his ad didn't pull. Should
the publisher give a refund?

For many years I was an advertising consultant in the mail order industry. I
heard so many people complain about how bad so and so publication was and
how it didn't pull any or very few responses. Sometimes, people never
consider that their ad may have been to blame for the outcome. As
advertisers, we need to shoulder the responsiblity. We need to understand
that to write ads that pull,  means learning another profession or at least
learning the bare basics so our advertising is not in vain. Read on and you
can discover a formula used for decades by successful copywriters.

First,  think about words for a moment. Think about how powerful they can
be.  Words.... so powerful they can cause people to fight or a whole country
go to war.  Words make us laugh and they can make us cry but they can also
make people buy!  Ads written with a proven formula and with the right words
can pull responses like crazy. If the ad is in a place where it can be read
for years, the responses will just keep coming. One of my best ads was
placed in mail order publications back in 1993 and today I still get
responses to that particular ad everyday!  Here is that ad:

Write or call today!

This ad was written using the basic formula that most copywriters use. The
fact is that anyone can use this formula and when you, you will see
measurable results. Here is the formula:

attract     -  Attention

generate  -  Interest

stimulate  -  Desire

ask for     -  Action

When people are scanning ads, and their eyes move across your ad, you only
have a few seconds if that to capture their attention. The  first objective
is to write a headline that can attract the readers Attention. This is the
first step of the four part
formula for writing successful ads. You want it to be your ad that grabs the
readers attention. You may have to write pages of different headlines to get
one that stands out from the rest but this is really a small price to pay
and can make the difference between success and failure.

Start by writing down the main benefit of your product or service.  A
benefit is something that fills a need in the readers life. It may be more
money or better health. It maybe a service that saves valuable time or just
makes life easier in some way. When you know what your main benefit is,
start writing  headlines using power words to emphasize and magnify your
main benefit. Before you begin, it would be wise to read ads for the purpose
of learning to write ads. You will start to see the big differences between
ads.... from the bland to the downright compelling!  One person might write
'Eggs for Sale' but the next person may make his eggs sound so much better
even if the eggs are identical! 'Farm Fresh Eggs for Sale!'  Now don't those
eggs sound much better?

Once you have a headline that you feel can get the readers attention, your
next job is to develop 'Interest and Desire'. As with most ads, you will
have to do this with a limited amount of words so don't waste them! The
reader of your ad should be persuaded that what you offer will solve one of
