Attn:  NEW PROGRAM GUARANTEES YOU AT LEAST $24,900!

9/22/99
So many programs claim to offer a website that will make you thousands of
dollars each month.  However, most of them NEVER deliver...  I HAVE FOUND ONE
THAT GUARANTEES IT DOES WORK AND BACKS IT WITH CASH!!

A program that guarantees you make at least 100 times your investment or
they give you a refund of MORE than you originally paid!?  You're reading
this correctly; if you're unhappy with their service they will refund you
MORE MONEY than you paid to join!

This guarantee is backed by a major corporation, not some "fly-by-night"
internet business.  And boy, is it ever easy to make money with their
program!  All YOU do is join and they create a website around your
interests, not some regenerated site that only sells itself!

No matter what you're interests are, they'll FORCE YOU TO MAKE MONEY AND
HAVE FUN!  You literally do nothing...  The website, hosting, advertising,
credit card processing, customer service, and so on is ALL handled by major
companies and NOT you!!!  You only need to promote the site more yourself if
you want to make even more money!

Just visit http://www.piyb.com/dd.htm and see for yourself.  Either click on
this (http://www.piyb.com/dd.htm) or enter it into your browser and hit
'Enter' or 'Return'...  Don't miss-out by ignoring this message - visit the
site!

Have any questions or comments about this service or www.piyb.com email
customer-support@piyb.com.  They will answer any questions, etcetera right
away!

This message is off topic but since it is such a breakthrough
in technology I'm  mentioning it here.

This is absolutely incredible!!!!
You can actually take a picture of yourself using your computer monitor.

Your monitor can discern small electrical impulses and detect bright
and dark areas very close to the screen (1-2 feet). This is still a
beta site, and the image is blurred, but it works !!!

Here's the link...

                                        ----===(*)===-----

I was given for my review program called PressBlaster.
This new program allows for "do-it-yourself" press release distribution.
It will send your press release  to 7000 press associates
and will help you with creating of your own press release through
built-in  knowledge center.

You can either run your own service delivering  press releases for
your clients or use it for yourself every once a while.
It has updateable database wich can be refreshed through easy
menu function.

It seems to be very simple to use.

1. Read  info from knowledge center how to write effective press release.
2. Write your own press release
3. Send it to yourself to see how it is  going to appear in mailboxes of
     receiving press associates
4. Select  media type you want your press release to be sent to and
     press send button.

Program then will send your message to selected media representations.

Get your free copy here
http://www.pressblaster.net/tryit.html

This application will generate a huge amount of publicity and internet traffic
to your website.

Unlimited Use!
I'm going to use it soon. :)

I suppose there could have been any number of faults with that particular
situation. The problem could have been because the person was still using an
old version of Netscape from before the _new tag was invented. I could be
wrong, but I believe the _blank tag was introduced a year before the _new
tag.

You also said it was possible that he was using WindowsNT. Perhaps this was
actually the operating system of his web server (It is not very common to
find someone running NT on a personal computer, mainly because it has alot
of limitations when it comes to multimedia applications). If that is the
case, it could have been a problem with the operating system. I have heard
alot of complaints about NT's problems as a webserver, especially when
trying to access a document constructed with Front Page. The only time I
have ever used NT was on a small file server for my private Ethernet LAN at
home, and I didn't really encounter any problems with that.

Anyway, I suppose the real question is whether or not it is worth changing
your page because of a problem one person is having, and without knowing
where the real problem lies. I suppose in your case it was, as it is
sometimes easier to just play it safe than to go messing around with things,
but it's not something I would want to make a habit of. Also, this is the
first time I have ever heard of a problem with the _new tag. I would like to
hear if anyone else has had problems with this tag on their pages.

Recently, I have had articles published in this ezine and others about creating
doorway pages for better search engine rankings. I even have a doorway page
fill-in template available for your use. You can access the articles and
template at: http://freeyellow.com/members8/freewebpromote/index.html

By sharing the knowledge I have acquired, I have received many wonderful emails
from people who have benefited from what I was willing to share. Many people
write articles and share everything they know so your internet experience can be
made easier.

No matter how much you give, it seems there always has to be someone who takes
what was never given. I have had a couple people copy my classified ad webpage.
They copied the title, description, keywords and even body text. One of the
people is probable reading this post and if so.... there is a better way to
create a webpage.

Anyone can gather ideas from  websites. You can even go to the source and learn
how other people use meta tags and html code. Take what you learn and get
creative. Put the time in to build your webpage. There are no set rules. If you
like what you create, more than likely other people will too. If you are in a
hurry and want to shorten your learning curve, there are some great sites
available where you can get all the tools and training you need to create your
website.

There always will be satisfaction in creating something on your own and webpage
building is no exception!

Recently I terminated my membership in a service that was promoting Cookie
Cutter programs. There is nothing like the original offered by Gary White in
terms of keeping you updated and online (in business). It was a valuable
learning tool for the $20 charged--especially for me--I had no experience
whatever in marketing using the Internet. Others spammed and as a result all had
inteference with their ongoing operations--expecially with the non-Gary White
service provider. Even though Gary had problems as well--I remember when Kevin
of Echecks went through an upset because of spamming by some member. Onelist
abruptly dropped lists which were by design meant to help fledgling online
businesses get going...etc. etc..and so it goes..I stick to running my
classifieds and avoid any "safe Email lists" because I do not want trouble or
want to cause it for anyone else. I'd like to hear about practical experiences
of others in getting an online business up and running.  I could use some good
"success" models.

===============Site Review Response (1) ====================
From: Melody T Vargas <melodyt@nafe.com>

Hi Bogdan & AdLanders,

In issue #131, a site review was requested for
http://www.userscomfort.com/cow

Cow is not the "moooo" kind, but stands for "Club Of
Winners."  I was actually disappointed because without
knowing anything but the name of the site, I was hoping
for a cute cow site to show my three year.  I'd be careful
that the URL might backfire.  This can be avoided, of
course, with a good tag line that uses Club Of Winners
wherever the URL is posted.  I am sure the owner of the
site will do that.

My strongest suggestion is to offer one copy of the news-
letter on the site as a preview.  There are a lot of QUALITY
free marketing newsletters available so the site needs to
distinguish itself. Unless a person is ONLY joining to get
in on the matrix, $5 a month for a newsletter site unseen
is not something a lot of people will spend.  They will spend
$5 for a bizop in a lot of cases, but not for a newsletter
unless it is a good one with valuable information.

My second suggestion is to get some testimonials up on your
site as soon as possible from happy members.  It's best if
you can include an email address and their full name where
a potential member can check the testimonial out.

Do you offer a guarantee?  It doesn't look like there is a
monthly minimum, so they have to send $5 each month.  What
happens if the $5 they buy is in one month and their sign-ups
are in another?  I am not an expert in matrixes, but this
one looked confusing.

I wouldn't join, but for a $5 bizop, I think that the site
is easy to use and could get members, especially if the
newsletter is worth the investment.

Spam, UCE, & Prospects-Crossing The Line!
by William B. Doyle ("Willie Raccoon")

A long, long time ago ('92/'93) in a
country far, far away (Japan)...

I received, via snail mail, numerous
offers to get rich quick, be my own
boss, etc. One finally caught my eye
and I joined up with the problem we
all have of needing prospects.

At the time (prior to my intro to pc's),
direct mail seemed the way to go.
I bought all kinds of books, manuals,
tapes and subscribed to numerous
opportunity-style magazines. A buddy
helped me put together the initial
contact letter, company brochures,
etc. Being stupid, & just having read
the chapter about backend sales, I
included a backend offer (printed on
my friend's printer) in the initial contact
package (handwritten business envelopes,
red ink, regular stamps, photocopied letter).
How many errors so far?

We mailed out about 2,000 of them
as a test. I forget where I obtained
my list of prospects. Result? In about
2 weeks I was "disenrolled as an Independent
Associate". End of my financial
independence dreams? No, just on hold.

<Flash forward to November 1998>. With
transfer to the Fleet Reserves after
20+ years of honorable service in the
U.S. Navy rapidly approaching (30Apr00),
huge debt, no house, no savings, I began
looking again at all the junk mail I
received, snail and e-mail.

One email caught my eye so I corresponded
with the Canadian gentleman and surfed to
the websites he directed me to. I was
hooked! I joined up, duplicated the
different websites (www.ejfa.com/raccoon ,
www.theduplicator.com/vip.cgi/wraccoon ,
www.successtv.net/raccoon ,
www.prepaidlegal.com/wbdoyle ,
www.legalhelpnet.com/raccoon ), and avidly
read everything at the websites, corporate
site/brochures, the training material/e-mails,
and so on. Sound familiar?

Now the hard part = finding leads/prospects.
the websites trickled them to me (continue to
do so) but too slowly for my gameplan.

>From January to August 1999 I surfed the net,
hit online classifieds, FFA pages, e-zines,
in search of leads. I did the link exchange,
banner exchange, exchange-exchange thingey
(my personal website, www.willieraccoon.com ,
was lost in all the stuff). I also joined over
300 opt-in lists of sellers trying to sell to
each other. Duh!

Further and further into debt I went.

Getting desparate, I responded to an e-mail
offer of "targeted e-mail lists"...
===================================
"...which have some targeted, verified
and a few un-targeted e-mail address lists.
The lists are controlled by some of the most
sophisticated extraction, verification and management
software and the most stringent Code of Ethics
in the direct e-mail marketing world.

These were extracted from various categoric
and public resources across the Internet which
will allow you to target specific products and
services to individuals and businesses who are
interested in them.

These email addresses came from various sources such as:
Opt-In Requests, Client Rosters, Customer Databases,
Vertical Market Databases, Subscriptions, ISP's,
Newsgroups, Focused Search Engine Extraction,
List Servers, New User Chat Rooms, Forums, Web Malls
and various other Web Sites. All addresses have been
passed through a sophisticated list management and
address verification software.

These lists are targeted at specific categories who
are interested in certain types of product. Provide
a product or service that they are interested in and
you will reduce removes and flamers dramatically.
Average deliverability rate is approximately 82% to
93%, even up to at least 98%!"
============================

"Wow! A goldmine!" I thought. I carefully followed
the instructions on the initial contact e-mail with
the disclaimers, (ADV) in the headline, "...I was
informed you are interested...is this still true?",
if no="remove" instructions, if yes=e-mail me, etc.

I didn't key on the word "extracted", believing these
folks were truly interested in receiving e-mail
about services and products.

In 2 days, I sent out a test e-mail of 2,547 to the
"Alabama" & "Arkansas" lists, 841 to the "Entrepreneur"
list. Result? Over 33% were "undeliverable/user unknown",
too many "removes" to count and one spam accusation!

I immediately stopped e-mailing, deleted all the
downloaded lists and requested my membership be
terminated with a refund. The list company agreed. I
also informed my upline, the company and the host/
managers of the other websites. The company, my
upline, and 3 duplicated website hosts/managers were
understanding (alot of "I told you so's").

Too late! 2 websites (www.willieraccoon.com &
www.theduplicator.com/vip.cgi/raccoon ) were quickly
"disabled due to spam, other abuse or policy violation
...does not support or approve of spam and we will not
allow our service to be used with spam!" The website
hosts/managers didn't even bother to contact me to find
out what was going on...guilty until proven innocent!
I've e-mailed them the full story and now await their
respective replies. The Duplicator forgave me for
being a stupid rookie.

The websites were listed in my e-signature and the
organized attack to shutdown all my websites continues
to this day (Oct99). Recently, the unknown zealot(s)
have begun attacking one of my ISP's.

Someone is on a "mission"! (I'm investigating legal
action against them since I have "Protection...
Security...Peace of Mind" which only costs me $16/month).

While I am NOT guilty of spam, I AM guilty of ignorantly
sending unsolicited commercial e-mail (UCE) to folks I was
lead to believe were interested in receiving offers via
e-mail. This is still a big NO-NO!!! I had crossed a line
in an attempt to make my business successful and very
nearly lost it all. Don't do it! Buyer beware!

So, am I back to where I started? NO.

I'm going back through some online/offline marketing courses
to review. I am actively copying successful online marketers now:
one way is to gain leads from sources who placed generic
MLM/network marketing ads and compiled the ad respondants
into lists of interested folks. Another way is to explode
business via inexpensive e-zine ads (like this ezine).

Work? This is too much fun to be called "work"! May 1999
be THE year for you and yours! I know it's mine.

Ad Tracking 101: Tracking Ad and Banner Performance
by Calvin Merrick

Keying Is the Key

The best way to test the effectiveness of specific ads and
banners is to "key" them. How is this done? Here is an example
of a keyed ad:

What Does The FBI Have On You? - Find out! Visit now for even
more amazing secrets! Free Lifetime Upgrades and Free Bonuses!
http://www.YOUR_DOMAIN.com/webpage.html?key

In this example, the "?key" descriptor is what allows you to
track your ad.

The ?key should of course be a descriptor of the ezine in which
the ad was placed.  For example, say you place an ad in "Strange
Ezine", you may want to use this key - "?strg". Then your URL
would look like this:

http://www.YOUR_DOMAIN.com/webpage.html?strg

The "?strg" will not prohibit a visitor from getting to the web
site, so feel free to use any combination of numeric or alpha
characters you wish.

If you want to get even more specific, you can use a key that
tells you what week and month the ad ran. Like this "?strg199"

Where strg = Strange Ezine and 299 = second week of September
1999.

You will also want to maintain a log that lists the advertising
media and the "key" you used to track the performance of that
media.  Here's an example two log file entries:

  EZINE/AD MEDIA NAME        KEY      DATE SUBMITTED    TYPE
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  Hot Marketing Ezine       ?hme       10/02/1999       ad
  Profit n' Cash Times      ?pct       10/05/1999     banner
When you review your log files, the full URL along with the
"?key" descriptor will show up, allowing you to tally the number
of visits generated from the ezine, banner, classified ad or link
where the URL was listed.
Tracking Ad Performance Without Log Files
If you don't have access to log files on your web server or would
rather use a different method of tracking, try this.
1. Create a web page with a description of the product or service
   you are marketing. A brief description of benefits along with
   a personal endorsement generally works best for this type
   page. Add the link to the affiliate program you are promoting
   on this page.
   You will create a web page (monitor page) for each specific
   advertising media in which you place an ad or banner. If you
   place ads in ten different ezines, you will create ten
   different pages and set up ten different stats-counters as
   described below. This allows you to track the performance of
   each specifie ezine, banner or classified ad.
   Click on the link below to access some example template pages
   and setup instructions. This is basically how you want to set
   up your monitor pages:
2. Place a stats-counter near the bottom of the page. Here is a
   link to resources where you can obtain free stats-counters:
3. When you place ads or banners, link them to this newly created
   web page. You will then be able to track the number of
   visitors that result from specific ads, banners or links that
   you have placed.
Now you're ready to see which ads, banners, links and advertising
media are really producing and which ones are the dead-weight
responsible for dragging your profits down.
Once you have your tracking system set up, you're ready for the
fun part - testing your ads and banners in different media and
tallying the results. Improve the winners and prune away the
losers.
Keep a Winning Attitude and Never Leave Home Without It!
======================Joke of the Day=====================
Joke provided by
Laurie Delk <delk@columbia.total-web.net>
At the Henry Street Hebrew School, Goldblatt, the new teacher, finished the
day's lesson. It was now time for the usual question period.
"Mr. Goldblatt," announced little Joey, "there's somethin' I can't figure out."
"What's that Joey?" asked Goldblatt.
"Well accordin' to the Bible, the Children of Israel crossed the Red Sea,
right?"
"Right."
"An' the Children of Israel beat up the Philistines, right?"
"Er -- right."
"An' the Children of Israel built the Temple, right?"
"Again you're right."
"An' the Children of Israel fought the 'gyptians, an' the Children of Israel
fought the Romans, an' the Children of Israel wuz always doin' somethin'
important, right?"
"All that is right, too," agreed Goldblatt. "So what's your question?"
"What I wanna know is this," demanded Joey. "What wuz all the grown-ups doin'
all that time?"
