If you are running your own web server and are paying for bandwidth, it is
quite important how big are the images used to promote your business.
Almost everybody knows that putting too much graphics on the web
page, will slow down the page load and customers might go away before
page even shows up.
But I want to point out something else . I'm not talking about images
stored
on my pages, but images used by my affiliates.
Currently AdlandPro affiliate program has over 5,200 affiliates and
most of them are using banners which I proposed for advertising.
All of these banners are sotred on my server and my affiliates just
point to them from their pages.
Today when I was observing traffic to my network, I was noticing
that my bandwidth was used 100% most of the time even the number
of visitor was just average.

After some thinking, I looked at the size of main banner used to link
to my site and realized that it was 12 K.
My site receives daily about 5,000 visitors.
Roughly speaking this banner was displayed to my visitors at least once.
My server had to send this day 60 Megabytes of data just for this little
banner.
As we all know banner needs to be displayed more than once in order
to be clicked. Let's say 100 times. How many Megabytes of data this
would be. I don't even want to count that.

I sat down and designed image which now has size 1.2K.
The usage of my bandwidth went down to 80% immediately.

Was it worth it?
I think so.
Tomorrow I will be compressing all my other images and banners.


So if you have your own server or planning on having one, make
sure that all images are compressed.

By the way, also check if some of the images which are stored on
your server are not being used to promote some other business.
This might be Megabytes of data loaded from your server
with no benefits to you.

In a previous edition we examined strategies you can use to generate leads.
The next phase of your strategy is converting leads into paying customers.
It deserves serious attention.

A lead that is not converted into a sale represents a drain on your ability
to produce a profit. While you obviously won't convert them all, (some
awkward souls will NEVER buy from you), it is folly to spend money to
generate leads and not do your best to convert as many as you can.

Sadly I could sit and tell you story after story about marketers who fail to
devote any attention to the science of converting leads -- even after
spending copious amounts of money to generate them.

Develop your system...
When you review your conversion procedures, cover all bases. Examine what
happens to prospects who:
I. Walk in to your business;
2. Telephone your business, and
3. Contact your business by mail, fax or Email.

In each of these situations, put a procedure in place to ensure that:
* Someone is responsible for taking care of these people.
* He/she is given instruction on what to do.
* Prospects are attended to promptly- either personally or in writing.
* Your representative knows what to say/write to the prospect.
* Your representative unearths the problem the prospect has--and clarifies
the prospect's means of acquiring a solution.
* He/she knows how to respond if merely asked for 'information"?
* Follow-up systems are in place so that:
a. The prospect gains satisfaction.
b. The prospect can purchase additional products/services.
c. Referrals are collected and followed up.

Even this incomplete list shows the potential for errors. Conversely, it
also shows the potential for increased sales -- WITHOUT increasing your
advertising budget!

Put your system in writing...
As you develop your Sales Strategy, take the time to write it all down in
your procedures manual.
Yes, it takes time.
Yes, it is a drag.
But let me tell you: It is an investment that will repay you again and
again, year after year.

Dream with me for a moment...
How will you feel when you KNOW that EVERY prospect who enters, rings or
writes to your business is dealt with efficiently.
Imagine the difference when follow-up letters and thank you letters are sent
out each day... When proposals are sent out on time... When questions are
answered and helpful suggestions are made... When problems are repeatedly
solved...
I say again: EVERY lead, (yes, even people who stumble in because they saw
your sign), costs you money You MUST do everything you can to ensure that
NONE get away.

Just to refresh you memory on the original topic of Lead Generation. "Let

The purpose of every marketing communication is to...
1. Get people to act
2. Get people to Act Faster... Indeed to get them to act NOW!

c: Instructions.

I was intrigued with Mick's statistical break-down of his FFA experiment.

I had exactly the same experience.


While it is pretty well established that 'buyers' don't come from FFAs - it
kind of stands to reason, doesn't it?, like Mick i thought that poetry would
be an interesting target for casual browsers looking for new, different
sites.
Not so. Nothing ut heaps of 'replies' and some rogures who then continued
to use my e-address to this pointless offers.

I carried my FFA mode a step further. I set up a nice FFOAMATIC site it
seemed attractive and was very user friendly. I thought, wrongly, that it
might
attract links to cultural, literary sites with no effort on my part.

Wrong again. Nothing but the usual stuff.

FFOAMATIC supply a list of emails that you can contact ONCE with message. I
thought I could trawl through them and sift out a few addresses that looked
as if
they MIGHT be interested in my message.

Wrong again. About 90% of ads were placed by an easily recognizable band of
repeat ad posters. Some would regularly post 10, or 20 ads on my Board each
day. Amazing! Was I the only mortal who read their names? Perhaps. And alas,
I wasn't interested in their $$$$$ so where was the point.

In the end, I didn't send a single message. No point I felt in adding to the
clutter.

So, for me, it is bye-bye FFAS - even though I LOVED the FFA poter at
www.jimtools.com All I can say in favour of FFA posting is that it MAY be
therapeutic on a Monday morning to post to a few 1,000 FFAs !! !! But
your time, IMHO, would be infinitely better spent seeking out 'sould
brothers' or
sisters on the web and organizing a civilized swop that may be of interest
to your
visitors.

software that I use:

SubmitWolf PRO

It's easy to use and with a list of around 2500 search engines, directories
and link lists in its database, you can automatically submit your website
up to 1500 sites at once depending on the category you select. I usually
run this program when I take a break from surfing the web. It normally
takes about 20-30 minutes to process. The drawback is that your site
will listed only a few minutes on many of the sites because of the
popularity
of the program.

This software is a little different from the norm. It scans the top search
engines for new free for all link pages and then submits your site to each
one.
I usually let this one run just before going to bed and have woke up the

morning sometimes to find it still scanning! You can stop it at anytime.

advantage to this program is that it finds many "NONE* high=traffic FFA
sites to post your site.

I'd also like to add that you're only see a handful of visitors from your
postings. I use it mainly for the extra links coming in to my site for
search
engine ranking

Hello Bogdan and Adlanders:


I took the advice of what I have been reading in many ezines
and began building my "dream site" at Angelfire - you know
"do what you love" and so that was what I was doing.
When all else failed in communication with these people and
I did not really know what was going on until the Digest came
out. At this point, I wrote to Angelfire's RANTS & RAVES and
got results. They checked and fixed it so that I could have
access to my site. They are very nice people.

Meanwhile, I copied each page and transferred it to my new
Domain http://astrologicinsights.com which is under construction
and, of course, being the first site I have designed from ground
up, I was so anxious to get the pages to the site, I uploaded my
Index.html before I realized that took down the "Under
Construction" sign and opened my site to the public. So, please
folks if you want to take a look, be my guest, be my critics. This is
my first try without a "wizard" and the design is my own. I kind of
like designing, so may study more, that is if people like it!

So folks, all's well that ends well and I will keep the Angelfire site
as a "mirror site". Keep your hopes alive, contact the proper
authorities, follow Bogdan's advice, put it in your "Let God Handle It"
box and yours may truly be a mini-success story. This is my dream
and it is there to help people who need help, with lots of future plans
to keep expanding. I have an unpublished book, which I plan on
making the individual stories into ebooks for "freebies", and more.

Becoming a Successful Affiliate

Have you often wondered why some people can
make a ton on money by promoting other people's
product and you are struggling to make one
sale every month?

There are very simple rules to follow to become
a Successful Affiliate:

1) Purchase the product.

This is a "MUST" to making money with an affiliate
program. Why should you purchase the product when
you can sign up for free? How can you honestly tell
other people about the product if you have not purchased
it yourself?

2) Treat the product as if it is your very own.

When you sign up as an affiliate and actually purchase
the product... take the time to either go into the
members area, read the product, contact customer
service or the owner of the product. Get an actual
"hands-on" experience of the product. If you purchase
the product and enjoy the benefits of it... your sales
can increase at least 1800% by thinking of this product
as your very own.

3) Be proud of that product.

If you are an affiliate and do NOT advertise it on
your website or do NOT advertise it in your newsletter,
then how are you going to sell it? Be proud that you
are an affiliate and advertise.

4) Give the product your personal recommendation.

This information goes back to step number 1. You
must purchase the product in order to give your
personal recommendation. By putting your "stamp
of approval" on the advertisements... your sales
will increase. What did you enjoy the most about
the product and why would it benefit other people
to purchase the product?

The end step to making sales is to tell the future
customer what the product will do for them. Why
should they spend their hard earned money on a
product that you personally would not purchase?

5) Communicate with the owner of the product.

This is a very important part of becoming a successful
affiliate. If you have a question about the product
or simply would like to introduce yourself to the
owner as their new affiliate... by all means DO IT!

You are going to become an "individual" to the
owner instead of an affiliate number. Get to know
the person as an individual. You can actually use
this information in your personal recommendation.

6) Use different methods of advertising.

Banners, in my personal opinion, do not sell like
a classified ad, sales letter, sponsor ad and
personal recommendations. Use text links on your
website instead of the banners. If a person sees
the same banner on a hundred websites, why do you
think they should click on YOUR banner and purchase
the product? They won't! Give them a written
explanation of why this product will help them
and what benefits they will gain by purchasing
the products.

7) Answer all emails.

If you are promoting a product and have put your
"stamp of approval" on the product... people who
have not made up their mind will email you with
questions. Why don't they email the owner of
the product? Simply because you have gained the
trust of this person. You are doing the promotion.

Go back to Step number 1: If you have not actually
purchased the product, you will not be able to
answer the future customer's question.

If you have purchased the product and still can
not answer the question... still take the time to
answer the email and let them know you received
their email and you can not answer the question for
them, but you are forwarding their question to the
original owner of the product.

This goes back to Step number 5. Communicate with
the owner. If you have already made contact with
the owner of the product, you are going to gain the
respect from that person. Forward that email and
let the owner know that you could not answer the
person's question and they will be more happy to
do it for you.

8) Get to know your sub-affiliates.

If the affiliate program is more than one tier,
it means that people sign up under you and sell
the product. In turn, you receive a commission
everytime they make a sale. If you are involved
with an affiliate program that sends you an email
letting you know that someone signed up under you
and include their email address... USE THIS TO
YOUR ADVANTAGE!

Send an email to the new sub-affiliate with the
following information:
* Welcome them to the program
* Let them know the importance of purchasing
the product
* Giving tips on how you advertise
* And yes, even giving them the actual ads
that you are using to generate sales
* Let them know they can contact you with
any questions

Remember folks, your sub-affiliates can be crucial
to your success. If you take the time to "help
out" your new promoters, that is just more money
in your pocket.

Becoming a successful affiliate can generate a very
healthy income each month if you take the time to
learn these eight steps.

A man traveling by train asks the ticket collector what time
the train stops at Victoria.

"Sir, we don't stop at Victoria."

"But I have to get off there!"

"Well, there might be one thing I can do. I might be able to
get the engineer to slow down the train a little. Then I can
dangle you out the door and lower you onto the platform."

"Will that work?"

"It's worth a try."

As they approached the platform, the train is slowing from
50 MPH. The collector hangs the man in mid-air out the
door. The man starts running in mid-air. "Run faster!
Faster!" He lowers the man and the man's feet touch the
platform. His shoes start to smoke! His heel comes off!
He's running at 30 MPH. He's made it! He starts to slow
down! The other passengers stare in amazement.

As the last car goes by, a hand grabs the man by the shirt
collar and lifts the man right back into the train! As he's
helped back on the train the gent who picked him up says,
"Man you're lucky I was here to help! This train doesn't even
STOP in Victoria!"
