hours, go to the mailbox, then deposit your paychecks in the bank.  Just
another's
day work!
Most people would probably welcome this kind of lifestyle;   having your
own independence and financial freedom.  Thousands of people are doing it.
They work from home, set their own hours, and enjoy quality time with their
families and friends. You can do it too with your own Internet business.
Nothing comes easy,  but with an honest amount of effort and the right
tools and training, you can  succeed.  Even if you are an Internet beginner!
What makes this possible is being able to  use a proven Internet marketing
system.
And what if I told you can start this business for under $100?.   Well,
you'd probably say it would be worth it if you could  make your money back
and
them some.  And then I said you can make $300 a day. You probably would say
it's

================== Word from publisher ====================

Greetings All

Welcome 210  new subscribers who joined list since last mailing.

                                        ----===(*)===-----

During past two years of publishing of Adland Digest, there were numerous
discussions about  merchant accounts and difficulties in obtaining them
Year ago when I was myself getting into e-commerce, I had to wait
for about a month to be approved as MasterCard merchant and
later pay high deposit fees to be approved as Visa merchant.
I was approved because my business was already one year
operational and I had some cash in my account.
To these days I have to pay fees for renting of equipment and
monthly fees.
Can you believe that these times are over now. Well, at least for
US residents. You can get merchant account for free (of course
usage charges apply but this  happens in any case). You don't have
to pay any set-up charges, monthly charges or equipment fees.
And what is even better, you will be approved very quickly,
unless you have very bad records.

If you were complaining that you couldn't start your business because
you couldn't get your own merchant account or fees of online
merchants were too high, you don't have any excuse anymore.

This account is FREE.
Just click on the link below to get started.
http://www.adlandpro.com/redir/propay.asp

Merchant account is a must if you are attempting
to establish your online business.
I urge you again to access this link
http://www.adlandpro.com/redir/propay.asp
and fill out this form as fast as possible.

Since this is a new service, and you are hearing about
it for the first time from Adland Digest, you must take
advantage of it as soon  as you can,  so you can be approved
before thousands of other potential applicants.
I'm sure that there will be a flood of  interested merchants and
the approval time might be longer than expected.

Just a note about an observation that could possibly be true.  Maybe you are
not getting success stories to publish because there are so few!  Everyone
is trying to market their site to everyone else and nobody is successful.
----->

As I'm always trying to point it out, concept of success stories is very
relative for different people and at various stages of their carrier.
Since there are many newcomers to the internet subscribed to this
publication, any positive results are giving pointers and are helping in
overcoming obstacles and finding  the right direction. If you check previous
success stories
http://www.adlandpro.com/archives/adlandDigestSS.htm
you will find that many of them are just summary of achieving some
intermediate goals, which seemed impossible  previously or wasn't even
considered
as a part of the plan. When you are trying to achieve some goals, you not
necessarily
will get there. You might correct your directions all the time based on
your knowledge and new experiences. The major point is that you need
to do something and this will give you experience and more ideas what
to do next.

Regardless of how big is your story, sharing it with over 19,000 people will
give you some publicity and  might  bring you some more success.

By the way, whenever I request new success stories I always get a few
new responses.

===================Success Story===================
From: "Richard Igoe" <igoe@mail.com>

Hi Bogdan,

The Course to Website Success!

This story to give encouragement to the majority
of internet users trying to make it into the top
5% who succeed. What's more, I know the value of
having a link on a well-visited site and your
incentive to place a button link  for the winning
article is a great idea. I know that these kind
of links bring in traffic long after the article
is published.

I got involved in web design, promotion and
marketing just over 2 years ago after 9 years
trying to make it offline.

There is a formula to a successful website, and I
found out the hard way, from experience.

I set out to develop my own business online and
spent half my time trying to improve my website
and the other half using free trials of search
engine positioning software to optimize my pages.
I had a free website and was hosting for free. I
had joined lots of affiliate programs and was
trying to promote them all. After a year however
I had not had any significant results.

I knew I wasn't really an expert but I knew a lot
more than most people around me. I had become
obsessed with the internet, and was spending 16
hours a day reading hundreds of articles about
website design, promotion and marketing, and
trying all the time to come up with better sites,
putting into practice what I had read. I am sure
this rings a bell with a lot of your readers.

I finally managed to get my free site in the top
10 on Infoseek for a particular keyword and I
thought things were happening, but after a short
burst of traffic my free website went down for
some reason, and the infoseek link stopped
pointing to my site.

I was on the verge of deciding to throw the towel
in and move on to something else. Everyone told
me I was just wasting my time and the success
stories you read are just hype created by people
trying to inflate their own success. However I
had read some wise words by Tom Wood, a marketer
I highly respect, which said "We all have exactly
what it takes. You just need to believe you
deserve it."

Another thing I learned from Tom is that you need
to help people to help yourself. Well I decided
to put everything I had learned during the
previous 18 months into practice. Your success is
a result of your actions.

The one thing I was starting to really understand
now, was how to market on the internet. I knew a
lot about other things too, but the difference is
I had a passion for the internet. The idea of
being able to have a business that runs itself
automatically with minimum input from me!

The one thing all website owners need is website
design, promotion and marketing information,
whether they are selling health products or
website services. So I set about building a
website aimed at helping others get this
information - http://www.TheWebsEYE.com.

I also realized how important it is that this
information is free. So I created a free 5 day
"Website Success Course" which teaches people how
to avoid making the same mistakes I did trying to
develop an online business. It teaches the 5
essentials of creating a successful website.

People who subscribe to this course will find out
if they are missing one of the essential
ingredients that can make or break their site.
They can even use this course to sell their own
product or affiliate programs. It is available by
sending a blank email to mailto:wsc@quicktell.com
or by subscribing to the weekly newsletter at my
site.

I have never looked back. If you believe in
yourself, you can do it, wherever you live. The
internet has no boundaries.

Best regards,
Richard Igoe.

Subject: Pop-Up Windows and Frames

Hello!

Just got finished reading the article in Adland Digest #183 written by Mike
McCutchen. I must agree with him about those cursed pop-ups.  First of all,
they make me feel intruded upon. They are just as annoying as wearing
too-tight shoes with a rock in them.  It would be better to put a link to it
on the page, then if I want that info then I can just click on it.

Same thing with the frames. I wasn't sure what was meant by "frames" until
now.
Thanks Mike.  Frames make me feel like I am being held hostage.

Love this Adland.

confused the dickens out of me and would not work any way I tried it.
Finally I figured out a way of using it, and the following may be of use to
your other members if they too were confused and first way did not work for
them.

Where the URL refererer such as <a href="http://www.talewins.com/fdic.htm">
appears in the document BETWEEN the A and the HREF is where the new code is
inserted.

<a
ONMOUSEOVER="window.status='TaleWins.com is delighted to serve you'; return

ONMOUSEOUT="window.status=''; return true"

If your readers have FIND AND REPLACE in their html editor they can FIND
<a href
and REPLACE it with
<a
ONMOUSEOVER="window.status='TaleWins.com is delighted to serve you'; return

ONMOUSEOUT="window.status=''; return true" href

throughout their documents, replacing the URL and the message in the above
example with their own destinations.

Note also that this code must be applied to each URL where they want the
message to appear in place of the actual URL, and thus each message can be a
different one.

Hi Everyone,

It seems as though the small group of WebTV users cannot
click on the links we place in our emails. I tried the AOL trick

Since WebTV users cannot copy paste any information, they
must type the URL or Email link by hand.

What I want to know is this. Is there a special code that will
hyperlink the WebTV users? If so, can you email me the code,
as well as place it in here?

Subject:...still no sales

Bogdan,

Please review my website.  It has been up and running for about 6 months.  I
have been getting 500 ~ 700 hits per month for the past 3 months, (over 2000
total hits since starting) but I have only made a few sales!   When I check
my rankings on Yahoo!, AltaVista, and several others, I am almost always in
the top 5 or 10 when I type in some of my keywords. ("state quarter folders"
for example).  But according to my hit-o-meter report, I don't get allot of
traffic from Yahoo! or any of the other search engines.  Classified ads and
links from other pages have worked pretty well for me.  The reports also
state that I am getting quite a few return visitors......but still no sales.
I accept credit cards through PayPal, which works fantastic on my e-bay
auctions,  and the few sales that I have had WERE paid through PayPal.  I
have checked into the Merchant Accounts deal,  but they are so expensive,
and I am on a very tight budget.  I have completely redesigned this website
in the past month, hoping that it would help matters,  but I'm still not
doing any business.   I know my products sell well,  I have good sales
locally,  but I  just haven't had the same success online.  What should I
do?  Any suggestions you would be greatly appreciated.

Choosing A Domain Host
By Rosanne Dobbins

Due to the numerous types of Web Hosting companies
that exist today, choosing the right one can sometimes
be a daunting task.  However, by following just a few
helpful guidelines, the task can become a much more
pleasant experience.

The first thing you need to do is ask yourself the
following questions:

* What kind of web site do you want or have?

* Is it personal or business related?

* Will you need ecommerce services?

* Will you need the ability to run CGI scripts?

* How much can you afford to pay?

* What kind of traffic do you expect to generate?

In addition, their are certain standard features that
you should make sure that any host you choose offers.
Following is a list of such services that are crucial
to any successful website.

* Free Domain Registration

* Unlimited Autoresponders

* Unlimited E-Mail Aliases

* Secure Web Space for Order Forms

* Unlimited Traffic Allowance

* CGI-Bin, preferably with installed scripts

* 24 Tech Support

Pay close attention to the last option in the list above.
This may be the single most important part of making the
correct choice. Putting your website on the internet is
exciting, but it can also be very frustrating at times.
When you find yourself in need of assistance, you will
want to be sure that you can reach someone 24 hours a day.
Furthermore, you need to be able to reach your host not
only by email, but my telephone as well.  One of the
biggest complaints that many people have with their Web
Host is a lack of customer support.  Don't let yourself
be one of these people.

When you have answered the questions above, noted the
standard features you need to look for, and are aware of
the importance of technical support,  you will have a
general idea of what kind of hosting services you need
and it will help you tremendously when you begin your search.

There is a company on the web that compares hundreds of
web hosting companies as well as their features & prices.
You can find it at: http://webhostlist.internetlist.com/
but with so many hosts to choose from, it can be quite
overwhelming.  Sometimes it helps if you can find a person
that has had experience with a certain company and can
testify to the fact that the company is reliable as well
as affordable.  This is where I come in...

I personally recommend http://www.virtualis.com/vr2/rdobbins/
to all my clients and customers.  I am confident in their
service and after switching host's several times myself, I can
recommend them with complete assurance that anyone who chooses
to host their site with this company will be in very good hands.

Even though a recommendation has been made here, I encourage
you to search around and make your own decisions.  Noone knows
you and your business better than you do.  By making the right
hosting choice, you will be well on your way to a successful
and profitable internet presence.

======================Joke of the Day=====================
Taken from Joke a Day

These two Jewish men are sitting in a wonderful deli
frequented almost exclusively by Jews in the Jewish section
of town.

They are talking amongst themselves in Yiddish. A Chinese
waiter comes up and in fluent impeccable Yiddish asks them
if everything is okay, can he get them anything, and so forth.

The Jewish men are  dumbfounded. "My God, where did he
learn such perfect Yiddish?" they both think. After they pay
the bill they ask the manager of the store, an old friend also
fluent in Yiddish,  "Where did our waiter learn such fabulous
Yiddish?"

The owner looks around and leans in so no one else will hear
and says, "Shhhh.  He thinks we're teaching  him English."
