While approving submissions to our new Free Stuff directory
at http://www.freebonanza.com , I have run into site, which
was offering free web marketing course by email.
To ensure that the site was really offering quality free course,
I requested it and 5 message sequence was sent to me
each day one letter. I  really liked the approach taken in
this course. It is useful for both the reader and the writer.

Reader is exposed to essential resources used to run
the business and writer gets referrals if reader decides
on buying any of the referred products.

I liked this approach so much, that I'm going to publish
first two out of five letters in the digest, starting today.
This is excellent way of promoting your programs.

to get where you are. Remember that success has different
dimensions for different people and amount of money is not necessarily
proper measure. What counts is your satisfaction, solution to the

From: "Marianne Payton" <mpayton@cfl.rr.com>
Subject: CHANGING DOMAIN HOSTS

Dear Bogdan and Fellow Adlanders:

This Digest has been so helpful to everyone.  I have
learned a lot and look forward to every issue.  Keep up the
good work, Bogdan!

I am writing today because I feel I should let people
know what they are in for when they attempt to change their
Domain hosting, especially when your original domain is
built with one of the Page Wizards on a domain site.  I am
still going through a nightmare attempting to move my
domain.

When I decided to move I approached a new hosting
company and they immediately sent me to one of the new
domain registrars.  I guess, still being a newbie of only a
couple years in this business, I thought that all of the
registrars would all connect together.  Otherwise, the mess
I found was created.  The first thing they did was take all
my information, charge me for an additional year for my
domain name and advised it would be transferred within 72
hours.  Okay!  So far, no clues of problems ahead.  This I
did about somewhere near midnight on the day in question.

Little did I know someone there would immediately advise
my current host that I was moving.  I was not given the
courtesy of advising them myself.  The next morning I went
to my File Manager and was denied access!  Just like that!
I had been copying some of my information, not giving a
thought to all of the current hosts logos, icons, etc., etc.
that I had to change.

For some strange reason my domain was still up and
running (fortunately), so I saved each page to my hard
drive.  When I uploaded the first one to my new host, it was
a total mess!  I couldn't believe just how bad it really
was.  So, I went back, clicked on "view source" and copied
all of the HTML from each page, saving each one to my site,
as named!  Wrong again!  They all saved as "html" - I wanted
"text", but failed to save it as such.  So, I went back to
copy it again, only to find that now my entire domain was
down.

The next thing I receive in my email was the form from
Network Solutions where I had originally registered my
domain.  Okay, so I filled out the form, returned it and it
was immediately bounced back because I had originally
registered the domain from my old address on earthlink.net
and they would accept nothing less!  At this point, I was
totally frustrated.  So, I went to their site and searched
until I found a form to fill out, copied it to my hard
drive, signed it and faxed it back to them to authorize the
change from my new email address.

Now, the fun (?) began.  I received their paperwork
again.  I put in the proper DNS numbers and name of my new
host.  It was kicked back again.  I have done this 3-4 more
times and each time it has been kicked back, telling me that
my error was listed at the bottom of the page so I could
correct it.  Guess what?  Nothing at the bottom indicating
any errors.  I finally wrote to them at their support email
asking to please let me correspond with a human being
instead of their Autoresponder. To date, I have still heard
nothing.

Somewhere along the line, someone, somehow, has to
convince these people that everyone is not an "expert" in
"their field".  At this point I am completely lost as to
what to do.

I am writing this to let everyone know that is new to
the internet and trying to set up their own domain, to
please protect themselves by learning enough HTML to get
their sites moved and set up the way they want them.  Even
if they build their pages with one of those Page Wizards,
then apply for a domain name, they are still going to have
to move from their "free web page" to their domain.  Then,
heaven forbid, you decide to change ISP's.  Hopefully,
before you decide to get your domain name registered, you
are well satisfied with your current ISP.  The only reason I
changed was because Earthlink did not offer cable service
and I wanted to get rid of the second telephone line.  Even
though they advertise their DSL service on your phone line,
they also advise you have a second phone line for "better
service", which was defeating my purpose of saving on the
telephone line - thus my change to Roadrunner cable.

If my experiences help one person, I will be very happy.
I have 2 more domains to move, but you can bet I will be
better informed before I try another move.  If anyone has
any suggestions as to how to overcome these problems, I
would love to hear from them.  I have been very happy with
Network Solutions, but with this problem, I am beginning to
wonder if it is worthwhile to even have a domain name and I
have three!

    Advice anyone?

God Bless,
Marianne E. Payton

Hi Niki, Bogdan, and Adlanders,

First of all Niki, you are headed in the right directions. Always ask for
advice! This is a great place to start. I have been a subscriber here for
quite sometime and have found lots of useful information. But getting in
touch with others in a definite must when trying to start your own online
business. An old clique, TWO heads are always better than one.

Working together with others is a definite plus. Not only will you be able
to
get ideas from each other but it also gives you a sense of purpose. I
especially feel good after sharing a new resource that works well, with
others.

It can also keep you motivated. Keep checking your new online contacts web
site and look at the counter total or changes made to the page. KEEP UP! Get
a little friendly competition going. HA HA! My site got more hits than yours
yesterday! You know what I mean.

It also takes a lot of commitment on your part. A couple of hours a week
will
not cut it! You need a minimum of a couple of hours a day. Any spare time
you
have, get to that computer and promote or search for better ways to promote.
Just don't forget to change the baby's diaper at least once or twice a day.
LOL.

A quote that I found just a few days ago sums it up quite frankly

"There is no elevator to success. You need to take the stairs"
Author Unknown

It's going to take time, persistence, commitment, focus, balance, and a LOT
of hard work. It will not happen overnight! It can happen but only YOU can
make it happen!

Sincerely,
Kenneth L. Hanna

Hello to everyone,
I want to share with you my trouble using eGroups.
I would not advice to use them. This is dangerous. I connected to one
egroup on their site  and then decided to unsubscribe. After
unsubscription I received two letters. One of them said that I was
successfully unsubscribed  and second said that I was successfully
subscribed again. They flooded my mail box with hundreds of letters.
And even more, the letters were repeated. I am still not able to
unsubscribe.

Note from Editor.

Although there is no simple answer to question like this, there
is always a chance to indicate how one should approach the
problem to get started.

Being  constantly  bombarded with questions like this one, I have
partnered and  built website which main purpose is to help
in establishing internet business.

Freebonanza.com has  links to sites offering free service or product.
One of the sections of the site is about marketing courses.
http://www.freebonanza.com/Business/Promotion/Marketing_Courses/

Marketing and advertising is where anybody should start to understand
principles of selling.

Bringing traffic to the site is just one aspect of the business
(much of it is covered here
http://www.freebonanza.com/Business/Promotion/)
but getting people to buy your service or product is quite different issue.

So  check above links and get involved in marketing, learn advertising
and work on your traffic, while we are collecting more resources.

come out often enough. :}  I really like this forum.

Anyway-I wanted to ask for a response from people who have set

marketers POV, not affiliate links, but if you have paid your money,
set up with them and are selling your stuff.

Have you found it to be worth the money and percentages?  Really

I keep noticing that people are always promoting search engine submission
services that place their sites on over 600 or so search engines. To begin
with, the only real search engines that count are maybe the top 10.
99% of internet users use these. Also, it is very important to place your
site on search engines one at a time and not leave it to free services that
place your sites in one big blast. Most search engines don't even use these
multi-submitter spams.
Try the free submitter at http://www.XpectMore.com
You can put your site on free, one page at a time and actually have a chance

I believe the reference to Harvard Business school teaching MLM is an urban
myth.  Ditto the Wall St Journal saying MLM will be a major distributor of
goods.  Unless you can quote chapter and verse (specific course re Harvard
and specific issue of WSJ etc
) I would drop the references to these sources.

However, as an amateur internet marketer who has no prior knowledge on
website design, e-commerce and such, I have had little success in promoting
my website.  I also have problems with making my website compatible with
Netscape.  Words that appear as white (my site's background is dark blue) on
IE become black in Netscape.  I am hoping that someone can do a site review
for me.  Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.  I also want to know
why the affiliate program of my website is not attracting any affiliates.

PART 1 - THE ESSENTIALS.
by  Richard Igoe

Here is the first part of your Website Success
Course by e-mail.

Do you have a website yet ?

If the answer is YES, then you need to ask
yourself "What is the purpose of the site ?". The
World Wide Web is gigantic with over 40 million
websites online, and if you do not FOCUS now on
your website's reason for being, you will waste a
lot of time and energy.

If the answer is NO, then go to our download
gateway and download your own FREE version of
Web-Page-O-Matic. This little program (1.4MB)
allows you to design a simple but effective
website. You have complete control over the
contents of your site, and can choose from a
variety of templates or your own design. Click
here to go to our downloads page.
http://www.TheWebsEYE.com/downloads.htm

EITHER WAY THIS COURSE IS FOR YOU!

A website is not essential to doing business on
the internet, however it can really increase your
marketing exposure. YOU MUST TREAT IT AS A
MARKETING TOOL.

That is why the first 2 lessons concentrate on
the product you want to sell and how to automate
your online business. Then we will show you how
to develop your website to market with maximum
effect.

THE 2 BEST-KEPT SECRETS TO A SUCCESSFUL WEBSITE

SECRET No.1

Give away something FREE from your site - not
just anything, but something which is useful to
your visitors. There are now so many free
newsletters that this is no guarantee. You must
be able to give your visitors VALUABLE
information that they are looking for, and give
it for free.

You can use THIS very Website Success Course to
give away free from your site and change any
links to suit yourself. All website owners want
to know how their website can be more successful,
whatever product or service they are selling.

SECRET No.2

Make follow-ups once a visitor has shown an
interest. Most of your online sales will come
after the 3rd, 4th, or even 5th follow-up. Your
website should be used to get your customers
interested in your product, but if you don't
follow up, you will lose them. You therefore need
a means of capturing their email addresses so you
can make follow-ups. To do this you need to set
up a form on your site.

To get visitors to leave their email address
takes us back to SECRET No.1 - offer something
free which is of VALUE to your visitors. A free
newsletter is fine but there are so many
newsletters around, you should give them
something more than this. For example let them
know that if they sign up to your free
newsletter, they will get access to your WEBSITE
SUCCESS COURSE. If you use the word "BECAUSE",

DO YOU HAVE THE RIGHT PRODUCT?
DO YOU HAVE AN AFFILIATE PROGRAM?

Before designing or re-designing your website,
you need to ask yourself " DO I HAVE THE RIGHT
PRODUCT?" Did you know that information is the
no.1 selling product on the internet? ALL website
owners want and need information on how to
promote, market and SELL from their sites.

If you already have a product or service that you
can easily market on the net, you should also
start your own affiliate program. What better way
to make sales than to have a sales force that is
active 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, making
sales for you while you are asleep. If you visit
http://www.TheWebsEYE.com/affiliate-program-software.htm
you will find out how to start your own affiliate
program for less than $30.

If you don't have a product of your own, don't
worry!

At - http://www.TheWebsEYE.com/affiliate.htm - we
have listed a few products that you can market
very successfully and you don't even have to pay
to become an affiliate.

If you already have a product you might be
thinking "If I market other products from my
site, won't the sales of my own products will be
affected?"

Well, you are absolutely right here - but the
answer is not what you think!

The products that we have selected are special
website related resources which will help any
business increase their sales. They are also
products you can sell from your site by simply
inserting a few lines of HTML. And some of these
products pay you as much as 50% commission on
each sale.

There are a number of things you need to look out
for when joining an affiliate program.

1. A *growing* line of *high-value* and related
products.

Your products must have HIGH value or the
affiliate program will not get off the ground.
Also it is a proven marketing fact that a
customer who has already bought from you will buy
more of the same or similar products again. If
you don't follow up and offer your customers your
new or improved products you are losing out on
the power of *leverage*.

2. A *high*  first purchase commission.

This is what encourages affiliates to attract and
refer new customers. NEW REFERRALS are what you
need to *build* your online business.  A 5 to 10%
commission just won't cut it.

3. Your customers become *lifetime* customers.

By using "cookies" a good affiliate program will
place some code on a visitor's computer. Whenever
the same visitor returns to buy a product, you
should be able to get the commission. You should
also get a commission from *repeat* sales -
because with a high-value product, a satisfied
customer is 70% more  likely to buy again than a
new visitor.

4. A *multi-level* commission structure.

The affiliate commissions are based on a
multi-level system. Your commissions are not only
based on your direct sales but also on those of
your affiliates - your sales force. You get a
percentage of all sales made by the affiliates
under you - and this percentage increases with
the volume of sales - so it is in your interest
to help your affiliates sell by giving them your
knowledge.

Affiliate programs that offer a one-off
commission on your direct sales will never help
you *add value* to your business.

======================Joke of the Day=====================

A guy walks into the human resources department of a large
company and hands the executive his application. The
executive begins to scan the sheet, and notices that the
applicant has been fired from every job he has ever held.

"I must say," says the executive, "your work history is
terrible. You've been fired from every job."

"Yes," says the man.

"Well," continues the executive, "there's not much positive in
that."

"Hey!" says the guy as he pokes the application. "At least I'm
not a quitter."
