=================Success Story=====================
>From : Laurie Rogers

Hi Bogdan,

My success story, although I doubt I will win this success
story contest it never hurts to try! As the saying goes you
will never know unless you try! A few short months ago I
happened across a very popular site and was looking to
download some books on marketing. I came across one
that happened to be about publishing an ezine.

I didn't really have a clue about ezines. I didn't even know
what they were. In fact I didn't have any inclination that by
reading that very book it would actually change my life.
At the time I had recently just begun my life on the internet.
Curiosity was in my blood. I would roam around the net in
awe downloading book after book just skimming them for
ideas. The majority of them just sat on my computer unread.

Then as a surprise one day my husband came home with
a new printer for me. So I finally decided to open some of
the books and print them out. After hours of printing and
alot of reading I came across the one on Ezine publishing.
I was completely enthralled by it to say the least. I found
some courses, where to get templates and endless listings
for directories.

I still had one obstacle to get over and that was my writing
capabilities. The next day I happened to come across an
ad for http://www.sitesell.com/theinformer.html I went to the
site, signed up for the courses and upon completing them I
decided sign up as an affiliate. Those courses absolutely
amazed me and to this day I would still love to jump inside
Ken's head!

Well unknown to me I thought I had all the bases covered!
So off I went to find a free list host (which I do not suggest
anyone do if they are serious about publishing an ezine!)
The list was all set up and I was ready or so I thought! So
where was everyone? How come they weren't subscribing?
I was offering free ads, what was wrong with these people?
(I didn't know how to really promote effectively at the time)
To be honest I still didn't know what effective advertising
was. So I was on the hunt again!

A few days later I was reading the FreeLinksNetwork daily
news and happened upon an article on Free Ezine ads!
(written by Dave Reno whom I have a graciously thanked
repeatedly!) So I began promoting my ezine as much as
possible (following all the rules and guidelines) each and
every week! Then the people began coming! I was in
absolute awe over this, it was truly phenomenal to me how
it worked!

After alot of trial and error (months of it!) I had finally found
my niche. I looked over several ezines and reviewed them.
I found things I liked and didn't like. I found ways and ideas
to set myself apart from the rest, after all I didn't want to be
"just another publisher." Well I had finally got what I had
been hoping for my perfect niche and a couple hundred
subscribers.

Then a short while after I was so called "settled." A fellow
ezine publisher (and fellow Canadian) approached me with
an offer. He wanted me to partner up with him and would
allow me to edit his ezine (800 subscribers at the time). I
in turn graciously accepted. (I thought he was crazy at the
time, sometimes I still do!) I'm not really one for getting a
swelled head, I believe learning and helping others is the
key. Needless to say I was pretty shocked in his faith in me!

Now a month after that (2 weeks ago actually) he came to
me with another offer of publishing another ezine for a new
company online. (Now we're at 3) I once again accepted that
proposal. Now I am working on my 4 th ezine which I plan to
launch early next year (I now know what effective promotion
is all about! lol!).

During all the while I have helped a few of my friends and
subscribers put together their own ezines. This lead me to
my most recent project, writing my own ebook on publishing
an ezine. I plan to launch it some time in February of next
year. So is this truly a success? I feel it is after knowing
absolutely nothing about publishing or marketing a mere
five months ago! Some have said I could do this with my
eyes closed which I find to be quite funny! My subscribers
tell me I never give myself enough credit. (maybe they are
right, I don't know!) I truly never thought I would ever come
this far!

Persistence really pays that I have proved to myself time
and time again! It honestly pays to develop good, solid
relationships with your subscribers and your peers. That is
really the one thing I am more proud about than anything!

Thanks for letting me share this with you all!

Sincerely,
Laurie Rogers

My last post was pretty long, so I'll keep this one short.  Regarding Bev
Schugart's post: I am not sure what your stand on Going Platinum is, but I
can tell you that it is not a waste of time.  My wife and I  have already
made back more than we put in.  Regarding Melanie A. Kozik's post: Going
Platinum must have your SSN in the event that you earn more than $600 in a

Subject: In response to the spam issue.

I think there are a number of initiative that need to be taken to deal
with the spam issue primarily to curb the spammers and to protect
the innocent.

1. We need an agree definition of spam.

2. Agree penalties for spamming.

3. All newbie should be informed of the penalties of spamming when
they sign up with an ISP.

3. An independent organization to be set-up possibly by the major ISPs to
whom spammers can be reported and to decide based on all the evidence
if the spammer is guilty.

This would ensure that the guilty are punished and that the innocent get a
fair hearing and avoid the confusion which exists at the moment.

Thanks

==========C o n t i n u i n g D i s c u s s i o n (2.2)=============
From: David Weed
Subject: In response to the spam issue.

Hi everyone,

I felt it necessary to respond to some of John Yarrow's comments to my
previous post. Please Remember I am opposed to Spam as much as any
reasonable person would be. However, I am also opposed to vigilante justice.
And where Spam is concerned there are far too many self appointed sheriffs
out there, more often than not inflicting serious harm on the unwary.
 John makes the following point:
"By the acceptance of watching and subscribing to the service  and
the knowledge these adds are there you have agreed to accept the advertising,
thus it is not unsolicited."
The acceptance is inferred, not implicit. You *know* there will be ads
interjected in the program. You do not sign an agreement stating your
awareness of the policy.
Following this logic any second year law student could make a cases that
there is no such thing as unsolicited email. Everyone *knows* Spam is out
there and they are going to get some, therefore by signing up for an email
address you are agreeing to accept the Spam and deal with it accordingly.
John asked:
"Have you ever waited for a
thousand pieces of e-mail to download from your server and then have to
sort through them to fine(sp. find) the three or four e-mails you wanted to
receive.(?)"

Yes. I quickly learned how to use filters. Amazing things filters, I can
start my email program, grab a glass of OJ and some toast, and when I return
several hundred messages from questionable sources have been placed in a
folder called "spam" and are summarily deleted. Sure, a few pieces get
through, but not enough to interfere with my work.

"If every individual was allowed to send there advertising in the same
way as "junk" mail without the cost or some sort of ethics and control
the amount of e-mail would bog down the internet and bring it to its
knees! E-mail would become useless as a communication device."

Absolutely, that is why we must educate all users on how to handle this
issue. Then, the professional spammers will stick out from the crowd and can
be dealt with more easily.

"(by the way for those who frogot (sp. forgot), television is regional the
web is world wide)"
I will presume you simply forgot that CNN, MSNBC, HBO and many other
networks are broadcasting their signals via satellite all over the world.

After this John disintegrates into his anger about being included on a
mailing list CD. I am sympathetic to his understandable rage. It is from
this rage that the vigilante anti-spammer is born.

John,
Eudora, Outlook, Outlook Express and many of the Web based mail servers have
filters. You can set up a set of filters that will block ALL mail sent from
addresses not in your address list. There is probably some enterprising
programmer out there that can tell you how to set up a single filter to do
so. This is a right and proper way to deal with spam. The more people learn
to use the tools they have on hand for dealing with spam, the lower the
results will be. The 'newbie' and the rank amateur spammer will soon stop
when they get no results, eventually leaving only the pros. BTW, the pros
will soon be working for GE, IBM, MICROSOFT and the like. I don't believe
anyone will find a rewarding experience in reporting them for spam.

Good Luck!

David A. Weed

From: Derek Marsh

Hi
I looked at http://searchat.virtualave.net/ .
My main comment is a conflict of search engines doing the same thing.
Should be spaced over a couple of pages with different one on each . Maybe a
added search engine added to be a product search on site. Where some one can
type in i.e. books and go direct to it. most people only read what show up on
screen and don`t scroll all the way.
Build it on a 30 sec. cycle because that about how much they check.
This figure I came up with my time surfing with paid search engines .
I hope it may help .
The layout was good. Idea good.

'DESPERATE' MARKETERS TAKE
'DESPERATE' MEASURES!
by Dale Clark

SPAM is the #1 Desperate Measure taken by Internet marketers.

SPAM is defined in Internet terms as:
Electronic junk mail or junk newsgroup postings. Some people define spam
even more generally as any unsolicited e-mail. However, if a long-lost brother
finds your e-mail address and sends you a message, this could hardly be
called spam, even though it's unsolicited. Real spam is generally e-mail
advertising for some product sent to a mailing list or newsgroup.

"How to Combat Spam"
http://www.arachnoid.com/lutusp/antispam.html

SPAM is basically coming from two different groups:
1) Bulk Emailers or "Scammers" who spam with Intent
2) New Marketers that don't know any better

The truth is people "new" to marketing don't understand that by
spamming others they're ruining there reputation. Please don't be
so "Desperate" that you forget that networking is a 'people building'
business. That's right you are in the people business if you're really
networking. You have to build "Trust" and "Relationships"! You can't
do that by alienating your prospects or buyers! You won't make friends by
insulting people! You won't be in the business of "networking" very long
that way!

ANTI SPAM SHRINE
http://www.mlmcentral.com/thespamissue/index.html

People are desperate to make ends meet. They are in Serious need of extra
income. The problem is there is no instant "Riches" on or off the Internet.
You could of course win the lotto, but what are the odds?

Have you helped out a "Desperate Marketer" Today!

You've gotten their spam in your email?

It really isn't their fault though, they were told that's the way it's
supposed to work. Can you blame people who are in need of income? Can you
blame folks who are putting their savings and hard earned money into an
online business? Can you blame them when in fact they aren't making a dime,
they're losing money!

They're just ordinary people who are searching for an alternative income.
There searching for a way to get "Finacial Freedom". The majority of them
are "Good Honest Hardworking" folks. They've been taken advantage of and
they have lost money to the "scammers and sharks".

They're overwhelmed with the "Get Rich Quick", "Make $10,000 in a week
without Working", "We'll Build Your Business", and then there's the "chain letters"!
You know You want to believe that you'll make a lot of money! You know
better, But You Need to Make Money! Can you blame them for that?

Please remember that as a marketer you are also a "teacher"!

Perhaps we're not doing a good job?

"What is a Sponsor?"
http://www.mlmcentral.com/library/recruit.html

There's so much information that newbies are overwhelmed. I know I was! I
couldn't keep up with my passwords, let alone what affiliate program I
signed up to or how it's supposed to work. It's a nightmare! When you're
overwhelmed with the Internet you forget you even signed up for an ezine
or an opt-in list!

Get Help at the Newbie Club!
http://www.newbieclub.com/?curlyjack

The biggest obstacle for the new networkers is this: NO MONEY!! They can't
even afford to join an opportunity let alone advertise it and promote it
properly. How can we help them out? They are considered poor prospects, but
are they really? They just don't understand that it takes an investment to
build their own business. They are only concerned with the income they need
to make ends meet. Is that Wrong?
I don't think so.

"The Zero Sum Theory"
http://www.mlmcentral.com/library/zerosum.html

BUT! What's the COLD HARD FACT of Network Marketing?

YOU NEED MONEY! You Need Money to Make Money!
Does that mean you need to borrow thousands of dollars? NO! You can build
your business with just a few bucks! I know of marketers who have built their
business on a "shoe string budget". I also know that there are many free
solutions to promoting and starting a new business.

You have got to free up some money to start building a home business. You
can start by using the money you blow on movies, pizza and other luxuries.
You have got to commit to your home business if you want to succeed. They
say that a part time worker will give up after 3 months? I believe that working
part time you're going to need a 3-5 yr goal. Can people commit that long?

I've heard that some marketers believe you will never make money by working
only part time. I believe that if you've got an excellent product(s) or
service that people will use and return to, then you
can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Qualify the product(s) or service(s) you're marketing and you will be able
to do that. You have got to use or believe in what you're marketing before you
can succeed. You don't want to jump right in and sign up for something
without doing the research. You have got to do your "Homework"! You can
then make a decision with "confidence"!

Is it "Right" for You?

Is it the "Right Product or Service"?

Is it the "Right Company"?

Shame on the "Sharks" and the "Greedy Scam Artists" whose job it is to
"Hide" in the shadows of the web and prey on poor innocent people who are
sincerely needing extra income! How can the newbies "Trust" anyone when
they've been scammed and their savings has disappeared in the pockets of
those scumbags!

"Hall of Shame"
http://www.mlmcentral.com/thespamissue/hallshame.html

Please let's be forgiving of the "Desperate Marketers" and remember that
it's the job of the sponsor to teach the correct methods of network marketing!

The "SCAMMERS" and the "SPAMMERS"!
I know there are good people who don't realize What Spam
is and I forgive them for that. I blame the "Scammers and Scumbags"
but some of the blame goes to the marketers who don't teach and
sponsor correctly. We have to do a better job of helping out the "newbies"!
We can stop "Spam" by teaching "Web Etiquette"!

"Web Etiquette"
http://songweaver.com/netiquette.html

Let's teach the "Desperate Marketers" that they can Succeed without taking
"Desperate Measures"!

 ============WORTH THE READ !============

 The importance of family

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
"Oh excuse me please" was my reply.

He said, "Please excuse me, too;
I wasn't really watching for you."

We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said good-bye.

But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.

Later that day, cooking the evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.

When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
"Move out of the way," I said with a frown.

He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.

While I lay awake that night in bed,
God's still small voice came to me and said,

"While dealing with a stranger, common courtesy you use,
But the children you love, you seem to abuse.

Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door.

Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.

He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
You never saw the tears that filled his little eyes."

By this time, I was feeling very small,
And then my tears began to fall.

I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
"Wake up, little one, wake up," I said.

"Are these the flowers you picked for me?"
He smiled, "I found 'em, out by the tree.

I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue."

I said, "Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way."

He said, "Oh, Mom, that's okay.
I love you anyway."

I said, "Son, I love you too, and
I do like the flowers, especially the blue."

Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company that we are working
for could easily replace us in a matter of days.  But the family we left
behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of
it, we pour ourselves more into work than into our own  family----an
