From:Gene B.

Happy New Year Bogdan and Readers,

I know you all have gotten to a point at times when you wonder,  "is this
going to happen  am I going about this right???" Adland Digest has been
quite helpful and supportive i may add.

I got up  early New Years Eve morning and began placing ads all over (the
internet) for this cool program I joined. I have done this consistently for
the past few weeks.   I started at 8:30am and ended about 11:45am just
placing free ads.  The same day I received a reply from an interested party,
requesting my membership number because they wanted to see the online
application.   So I say,  "well seems like another one just wants to look
things over again.

Later that afternoon, I Went out for an oil change  and decided to take
drive, down by the beach.  When I got back home, I checked my email.  Lo and
behold there was an email response from Wealth Vision, the company I'm in,
stating that this person had signed up today...ooooo what a good feeling.
What a great way to start a new year!!!!!  Goes to show consistency and Free
Ads do pay off.  And Yep its finally going to happen after sifting thorough
the wry.

Happy New You

Gene B.

From:Ron Gale

Bogdan;
I am coming to you and the group for a very unique request.  I have
a working ranch with cattle, horses and sheep.  - the sheep are unique
in that they are the only flock in the world that have four working
teats (this means that they can feed up to four lambs all at the same
time).  This breeding has been 38 years  in the making and I have now
ran out of money, shortly before the completion of the project, and am
looking for an investor partner to help finish this project.  What I am
looking for from you is a way to advertise free, for someone willing to
invest a half million Canadian (about $350,000. American) for a
forty-nine percent ownership in the ranch; land , cattle, horses, sheep
and equipment.
If you, or anyone can help me it will be greatly appreciated.

Subject:About Altrasearch

Hi!

Your last issue of Adland Digest printed my question about
cancelling with Altrasearch and not being very successful with
reaching the company.

Since then, I was able to cancel my account with Altrasearch
through Worldpay support (a very nice individual came to my
rescue immediately).  I wanted to also thank Darren & Bill for
their kind comments and support.  It really meant a lot!  I have
since been in touch with Bill to pass on the email address from
Worldpay if he was still unsuccessful with cancelling his
membership directly through the company.  I'm in agreement with
him about Altrasearch being a waste of money.  Little results.
(of course, this is only my personal opinion)

And to Darren - I subscribed to The Panic Bulletin - great idea!

Thanks again for printing my message in your last issue.  I
really enjoy the frank discussions and the help received.

Subject:About Altrasearch

I have had exactly the same experience.

I found Altrasearch to be a complete waste of time, but when I tried to
cancel I was told I must have exact details of my initial payment to World
Pay.  As I could not provide these, they say they do not have the time to
sort through and find my details.

What nonsense - we are in the first decade of the 21st century, not the 20th
and looking up such details is a formality.

As Altrasearch are linked to E-Millionaires Club and Veoweb, I would advise
people to be very careful re these opportunities.

First my name is Debra.  When writing an ad is there a certain length that
they should be?  Say for instant for a newsletter, ezines, or newspaper or
should you just ask how many lines that you should do.  Should have
different sizes of your ads?

I wrote this below.  How does it sound and do you think that is good for a
short ad.  It is long enough, to long, or not long enough?

From:Rina Chen
Subject:How do you write an Ad

Here's an ad copy tip I hope some of you would find useful.:-

~Ad copy writing tip~

There was a group of students who were experimenting with human responses to
the words used. They wanted to try using different words to persuade the
first person in line to give up their "queue position" in order for the
"persuader" to use a binding machine first.  These are the questions used
for this
experimentation, and the approximate percentage of people who responded
positively by giving up their

queue positions:-

May I use the binder first?  15%
May I use the binder as I want to use it?  75%
May I use the binder first as I am in a rush?  82%
May I use the binder first because I am in a rush?  91%
May I use the binder first because I am in a rush and I'll be in deep shi*
if I don't get my project out by this afternoon?  99.8%

What does this tell you?  It tells you when you ask someone to buy from you
without any reasons, you may still get a response because you asked for what
you asked for.

The second question surprisingly, made 72% of respondents give up their
queue to the asker, probably out of courtesy or perhaps the respondents
didn't spend too much time on thinking about what the asker just said.  The
third and 4th question meant the same thing but the word "because" rang a
bell in most people asked than if the question was asked with the word "as".
Which brings me back to my kindergarten days when the teachers always
thought students to reply a Why question with a Because answer.

The fifth question gave additional "urgent" information to the "askee" for
the "askee" to respond in a more positive way.  Thus, the 5th question
yielded the highest response.

Verdict:  Sometimes, just by telling the truth alone, it can close a sale.
Here's an example:- "Because we're getting rid of our stocks, our prices are
now slashed 50%!"

~end of tip~

"free".  They're costing you plenty in lost attention of your customers.

How to Export To Eastern Europe
ByGary Granai  General Director Poland Import Export Chamber of Commerce on
Line

Rule 1

Look Serious - Regardless of anything that you do, you must look
serious. You must show people that you are not some weak or unreliable
company. And that must be through action and not words. You must do
something positive.

Most companies are not really committed to selling their products into
Eastern Europe. They are only testing. They just send offers by email
with a lot of talk about how great and large they are, how they want to
create long term relationships and how they want to work for mutual
benefits. They ask people to visit their web sites. They use email
hoping that someone will do business with them. We get thousands of
such offers every month. And we trash those same thousands without
visiting their web sites and without even contacting them. Their email
messages just look like they are not serious and we do not have time to
find out if they are or not.

We just choose those that look serious and communicate with them.

In this note I am providing you some hints on how to look serious.

RULE 2

Use a Good Internet Letterhead - Any businessman knows the importance
of good stationary. People judge you by the professional nature of
your letterhead, envelopes and logo. You would not use the free hotel
envelopes and stationary. You have your own printed. You should also
have your own professional internet letterhead.

On the internet your email address is your letterhead. You must have
your own email address on your own domain. Everyone knows that you can
have your own domain name hosted for only a few dollars per month. If
you are afraid to spend $10 or so per month for a good letterhead, then
you do not look very serious at all. If you lack your own domain name,
people question your basic understanding of business and the financial
stability of your company.

So start by making a good first impression. Be sure to use your own
domain name.

Rule 3

Show cultural sensitivity - You must show that you have done at least
some basic research on how to approach businesses in this region. You
must understand that people here are just like you are. They have
feelings and their own sense of how things should be done.

This is not a minor item. I am an American who has no Polish
background but who has worked in Poland for almost 10 years. You would
not believe how often I am embarrassed by the emails sent to me by
people who think that they are talking to a Pole. In many cases the
senders do not have any idea about how impolite they are.

Do a cultural audit of your email message and supporting materials. If
you don't know how to do one for the Eastern European markets, find
someone to do it for you.

Rule 4

Put your information where the people are looking. - Polish companies
know where to find information that they can use. They look in Polish
language directories, Polish language government economic development
services, Polish language email newsletters and Polish language
directories.

Some look in English language trade boards, directories and search
engines. But those looking there are normally brokers. They are not
the people that you want to contact.

To find customers, put your information in the Polish hubs - those
places that Polish businessmen go to find information.

RULE 5

Use Opt-In subscription Services - Nothing works like email to targeted
opt-in lists. In Poland and other parts of Eastern Europe there are
targeted subscription services that can get your offer directly to a
customer.

For example, in Poland there is one network that maintains a database
of companies. Offers to a particular market segment are sent by
email. And the network even has an SMS telephone notification system
that tells a factory to check its email because it has just been sent
an offer. But, of course, any offer sent must be sent in Polish. They
will not consider sending anything in any other language.

You cannot duplicate what these people can do for you. They are local,
they know the market and they have the opt-in email lists that you
cannot get anywhere. Don't waste time. Use them.

RULE 6

Put information in the target country - Polish companies are just like
companies in your country. They do business in a preferred language.
In Poland that is Polish. And because there are many Polish search
engines and directories, they look for business contacts in the Polish
search engines and directories.

For example if a Polish company wants to import leather goods, it does
not go to trade boards in Indonesia, China, South Africa, Mexico and so
on. The first reason is that these are not in Polish and so they are
not easy to use for a non-English speaking Pole. The second reason is
that finding all these directories is too hard for the average
person.

Put your offer in the Polish search engines and hubs. You really look
serious
