1.5  Steps That  Are Missed Often in Non-successful Advertising
By Ross W Reyman, Jr.

================== Word from publisher ====================

Greetings All

Welcome  190 new subscribers who joined list since last mailing.

                                    ----===(*)===-----

Being busy with the end of the year issues, restructuring of AdlandPro
and Freebonanza project, I have delayed Adland Digest Success Story
voting. To make it effective event I'm working on special way to
approach it and engage all of Adland Digest Subscribers.
Please stay tuned.

                                    ----===(*)===-----

As I mentioned previously, I'm working right now on  restructuring
of AdlandPro site and AdlandPro affiliate program.

I'm planning to make it membership based. This will also involve
paid membership model. This will increase income potential
of Adlandpro Affiliates.I will be adding  to existing services of
AdlandPro at least three other services which will help with
promotion in different fashion than Adlandpro does.

If you offer service/product which provides promotion, you
can let me know, and after reviewing it, I might  include it in
the package.

I'm considering two models of selling of services  of other
businesses as part of this package.

1. You will offer discount for anybody coming from
    my sources.

2. I will be selling your service/product and give you
    your share.

Sites/businesses who should consider possibility of
being included in this  offer, should have already
established market and proven records of delivering
what is being offered. Keep this in mind when
responding to me.

I'm also adding several improvements to the program
which will favour affiliates who either become
members  or who will  have above the average results.

You will be able to become a member through
either paying monthly low fee or earn it through
each monthly qualifying requirements.
As one of the biggest  enhancements (for members only),
will be option to create your own advertising network.
Affiliates who join from your reference, will display
your ads on their servers. This idea is already working
but only my ads are being displayed.

Also when visitors connect to AdalndPro, your ads
will be displayed for them across the site. This way
you will be getting promoted for everybody who
comes to Adlandpro from your reference. And this
is not just when they  come for the  first time.
This will be for ever. When new visitor comes to the
site, he/she will have to create  free account. This account
will have a marker in the form of affiliate id who brought this
visitor. So next time visitor logs into their account,
we will start displaying your ads/banners instead
of  currently sold advertising.
I would like to thank Doug Williams for this last
idea. He suggested it and I think it will have
very good effect on the program as a whole.

If you are not AdlandPro affiliate yet you can
join here.
http://www.adlandpro.com/become_an_affiliate.asp

My plan is to change Adlandpro affiliate program
in such a way so it is going to become not only
good reason for free  promotion but also for earning
in two tier model.

Subject:Hotyellow98

Hello everyone,

I was also part of the Hotyellow fiasco.  I had been playing with starting a
web site for a while and had been a Hotyellow affiliate for over a year.
Well, during the past few months, I finally started seriously working to
build a serious income producing site.  I purchased a domain name and had
it hosted on Hotyellow.  Then, I started noticing that whenever I tried to
manage my files, I got an Internal Server Error message.  I wrote several
emails to Hotyellow tech support and received no responses.  This puzzled
me because previously I had no problem with Hotyellow.  I recommended
the site to my friends and relatives and some of them received their own
free sites from Hotyellow.

On January 4th, I accessed my Hotyellow site and received the message that
their servers would be permanently disabled at 4PM on that very day.
Needless to say, I was extremely angry that I had received no forewarning
about this situation.  Luckily, I was able to copy all of my files and begin
transferring them to another hosting company.  This has cost me many hours
of research and work.  I am glad in a way that I did not really lose much
money with Hotyellow.
However, it really pisses me off to see what they have cost so many
others financially and in wasted time.

Hi Bogdan,

It's been a while since I posted and the reasons are varied but useable.
Holidays, kids, wife, 3 websites and living life to the best that an good
internet income will allow.
I personally and publicly want to thank you for allowing me to become a Free
Bonanza Guide.
I believe that this endeavour will add the additional income stream that
will allow me to finally be totally online with my income, no more retail
sales for me!
:-)

My comments:
HotYellow98
I have no comments here... BIG surprise, since I usually have something to
say about everything.
I am sorry for all those that have lost money and business contacts through
the demise of this service.
What could have been the final demise factor? Spammer members eating up
bandwidth?
Poor free websites taking up space and technical help with no chance of
attracting traffic and revenues?
Loss of HotYellow98 banner revenues through the decline of big off-line
businesses promoting online?

For Thomas Deitz and others that registered their domain names through
HotYellow 98 it's time to do some investigating. Start with the paperwork
that you should have received, snail-mail or email, that would show who you
paid for your domain name registration. You should know this. You can start
to check at: http://www.networksolutions.com if your name was registered
there, or try the http://www.dotcomdirectory.net. Then if you are listed as
the "Registrant" and/or "Administrative Contact" you should easily be able
to move your domain to another host and server. (Here I will suggest the
hosting service that I use, http://www.elosoft.com, flat rates, not
expensive, 50 Megs and lost of features including unlimited traffic. This is
a BIG bonus for my downloads site, http://www.Robrob8.com which was costing
me an additional $140.00 plus a month with another service.)

And Tom Sawyer (Really!!??) - (My full name is Robert Edward Lee, so I know
what you get too!)
Class action lawsuit? Only in America.

Well, I guess that I did have something to say after all.

DHS Club???
Hi Phil Sheline, Danette Braunstein, Egon Schnare, Daniel J. Johnese (The
smart one that dropped out), Rob Harrison (stay as a free member buddy!)
Sorry online shopping portals are not where income opportunities abound.
There are too many ways for people to save money online, shop around with
free downloadable shopping assistants that will find them the best price on
anything, etc.
They have a nice page for New Downline members:
http://www.clubshop.com/newvips.html
But it's interesting to note that the shopping bargains are for Americans
only. Why so many out-of-country members? What benefits do they gain other
than downline members making more members? $49.95 and $25.00 a month
afterwards? That is a LOT of online shopping to make it worthwhile to save
some money.
Please explain.

Danette you said:
You save big $$ everytime you shop over 50 online stores including Walmart
and Staples.
Please explain this in detail, I am interested, since this is where I shop,
but I want the information up-front. How will I save more money by paying
the aforementioned fees to shop online at these retailers?
I went to:
http://www.clubshop.com/mall1.html
This has links only to affiliate programs administered by Link Share,
Reporting.net and Commission Junction (maybe others).
We can all become members/affiliates and get the same deals, did you know
this?
Pay ME your monthly membership fees, I have found this out for you!

THANKS!
Don't believe me?
Check out THIS LINK:
http://www.clubshop.com/mall/storelist.html
and hover your mouse over EACH & EVERY LINK!
They are all for affiliate programs that you yourself can join.
Feeling ripped of yet?

And about the "Points Program"? I have no idea how they can figure out what
you - as an individual - have spent, since they do not make any of the
purchases on your behalf. They are just a links directory to shopping
affiliate programs. TELL ME I'M WRONG!

Sorry again, I just got it, you accumulate points based on the number of
paying VIP members you refer.
Page info here:
http://www.clubshop.com/mall/points/accumulated-pips.html

Sounds still like a scam to me.
How do you feel about it?

Enough said, for now! ( I hope!)

Hi,

My name is Reggie Hall & I was fortunate to have been personally sponsored
by one of DHSC's original members, and now 3-Star Executive Director, John
Wildman. I joined for free, because it was presented well & the compensation
plan ...( Building a Guaranteed Monthly Income), really was made sense to
me.
And the VIP benefits are really AWESOME. Worth far most than advertised. If
you didn't see them, check them out here: http://expage.com/freemembership

First of all, it's free to join & you can literally watch your downline grow
before you ever spend a dime. In my case, I waited 7 or 8 months. Then there
was the cost. Most programs are ridiculous, But DHS only cost $49.00 to get
start ed. It was the best decision I ever made. Less than fifty bucks in not
a lot for the rewards I'm now receiving. Like Phil Sheline, Danette
Braunstein
& Egon Schnare wrote. "The checks or real. They come month after month.
Increasing each & amp; every month." And people, this is guaranteed income!

I mentioned my direct sponsor, John Wildman, because practically all of our
team members are successful. DHSC & "The WildmanTeam" are by far, the most
impressive organizations I've ever been involved with. And the driving force
behind it all is "TEAMWORK." And we do it like no other. The direct link I
have to John has truly made the difference, and my VIP's are also
experiencing success.

If you are truly looking for a legitimate homebased opportunity, DHSC is the
only way to go. If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to write me
directly.

I have been a member of DHSC almost since it's creation 3
years ago.  It took me almost a year to upgrade to VIP.  I have
received a check from them EVERY month since my 3rd
month as VIP (almost 2 full years).

My upline and I created a website called FREEsubmission
7304 to help us sponsor new members.  We would go out and
manually submit people's websites to hundreds of sites in
exchange for them signing up under us in DHSC.  This got to
be QUITE overwhelming because the site became very
popular.

I had to have someone create a submission program for me to
handle all of the submissions we were generating.  Needless
to say, we're still going strong 2 years later and the software
is getting better and better.  Our newest update will submit to
ALL of the major Engines and Indexes AND include TONS of
directories and FFA pages (Yes, they ARE worth
something.... just ask me) totalling well over 200k sites.

My TEAM and crossline have used this method of sponsoring
people to achieve some of the highest levels in the company!

Please feel free to download our FREE Promotion tools AND
request your FREE Membership.

By the way, International VIPs are now ELIGIBLE for benefits,
rebates, and discounts!!

Hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year!!!

I have sent several emails and will let you know of any responses/actions

pay your money to get it hosted and your dot name the same way making sure
the company your registered with will be there tomorrow
it will save you on search engine listing .unless you want
top bill then pay it`s your business to run and host ,if something goes
wrong you have all the information on your computer and
can retrieve your dot name from register to another host.
the only time i use free sites are for mirror sites another words if it
disappears i don`t worry it`s your business to make money ,why not

Debbie,
There are reasonably priced and FREE ways to get your website seen by
the people who want to buy your products. Please be careful...there are
many companies willing to take your money, producing no results.
There are 6 ways to get traffic to your website...
The sales are up to you:
1. Search Engines...like the big ones..Yahoo, Excite. You should only
submit every 3-4 weeks to obtain optimum results....
You can go there to submit or use a submittal service:
http://www.freeyellow.com/members8/clickcity/url.html
***************************************
2. FFA pages...You can submit daily..... ex:
http://mymoneymachine.com/owner/cbonney/links.shtml
**************************************
3 Opt-in lists...go to Smartgroups, egroups, or Listbot and join some
FREE opt-in lists...You can then post your ad daily.
Here's a free one:
cliftonenterprises-subscribe@smartgroups.com
*************************************
4. Ezine advertising....millions of weekly and Daily places to place
your ad....Join several, like Adland, and send for advertising rates.
OR...Become an Ezine Publisher in 5 minutes and promote your gift shop:
http://www.ezinehelp.com/resellers/10251
**************************************
5. Off-line advertising...
Put Web-decals on your vehicles...
one-time fee offers continuous advertising.
***************************************
6. Go to Click City for all of the above:
http://www.freeyellow.com/members8/clickcity/adorder.html

Debbie,
I hope this helps...
There's sooo many ways to receive traffic and increase profits WITHOUT
spending a fortune.

Hi Adland,

Debbie Ducker here.  Hope all are doing great.  Well I had to jump on this
one as this is my business (Advertising) and I hope that through my 3+
years of research into it I can be of some help any ways.  Debbie I took a
look at your site, beautiful gifts available there.  I wish you much
success. Now onto a few things that I have found very effective for both
exposure and sales.

* First of course is getting a good placement in the Search Engines.
* Second on my list is Email Marketing (best results from paid lists)
* Third (now don't scream!) FFA's

I am not kidding I have tested this over and over and regardless of what
most experts are saying, I receive many hits from FFA sites and have pin
pointed more than one product/service purchase to them. Included in this is
my first web design client. Now as far as your request to minimize hype or
falseness. This is good point to remember about your ads.  I feel if you
truly believe in what you are selling, this will come naturally. Honest
hype can go along ways towards profits. While on the subject of ads and
writing them.  One tip, especially for those reselling for others, is to
just read the site and take the best excerpts from it and condense them
into a good ad copy.  No one knows the product better than the owner so
that is the best place to start. This can go the same for those
only  promoting your own business, just take what you like best of your
site content and go from there with writing honest, heartfelt ad
copy.  Other great ways for traffic are replication advertising,
classifieds and of course networking as we are all doing
through Adland (Thanks, Bogdan!)  Hope this will give you a good start in
getting your site traffic and sales.

I found the same problems with UPS as did Patricia!
They fail to deliver items even after three tries! Customers
who have been in the same house or building for 25 years
have been denied delivery due to inept UPS drivers.

I tried to explain to one customer that her items shipped
on schedule, and that it was not at her house yet because
UPS was inept. Instead of understanding, she berated me
and took UPS's side. .

But I find that UPS is very inept. They returned one package
to me one time after attempting three times to deliver it.
They never gave a reason, they left the label for returns empty.
It was a simple brownstone address in New York City, with a
doorman on duty 24 hours a day.

I sent the package the next day by US mail and the party
received their merchandise in two days.

We ordered bread from an on-line bread company. Our UPS
driver actually left the big box of 20 loaves of bread on our
door step, all ripped open where you could actually see the
fresh (or not so fresh) bread just laying there in the open!
He actually left this as a normal delivery and drove away.

Three times our stupid UPS driver has left our printed checks
on the doorstep, when no one was in. He actually left packs
of 500 custom blank checks sitting on the door step. Three times!

I am thrilled to see that it isn't just me and that I am not going
crazy. UPS is union and apparently they are able to get away
with this.

Hello Bogdan and fellow Pro's,

help and a request for a site review.

About a month ago I decided to do an experiment, so I spent half
a day and half a night to add some shape to the idea and put up
this new site.

I am usually involved in projects where the customers content is
all there is to publish, no ads, no banners, just content. Well,
I've found interesting new items to stuff into the DONT-do-this!
bag, but that's another story.

Only now did I learn that my ISP doesn't do relays, so there it
goes, my brilliant idea: no newsletter using that pop.

Question: Does anyone know any good AND free resources which I
could use to realize a newsletter publication? It's probably not
making much sense anyway but I just like the challenge ;-)

The site is located at  http://phh.virtualave.net  Any feedback
would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for your time.

Best regards,

Hi Bogdan,

Hi Bogdan and everyone!

I recently joined a business opportunity called
Oasis Wellness Network and I would like some
feedback on it. Oasis sells health products that are
made in FDA compliant labs complete with a 90
day money back guarantee. The products they sell
are really unlike any one else's! Yes, I know we've
all heard that before! In all seriousness though they
really are. They do infact prove everything they do,
unlike other companies out there that sell nutrition
products.

The company itself is virtually debt free and infact
has billion dollar assets, so no need to worry about
them going under any time soon. They offer very
good commissions, excellent bonuses, profit sharing
and stock options. Soon they will be offering free
leads to representatives via infomercials, news,
radio and other sources of media. So you are very
well rewarded for your efforts.

The CEO of this company is actually the former
retired President of Avon, so we're not going to be
led by someone who has no idea of what it takes.
The cost to start is very minimal and you can choose
to start on various levels from as low as $40.00.

My problem seems to be that although this company
is completely legitimate and plays by all the rules,
there's not allot of takers! And yes I have received a
check already, so I know it's not a sham.

As a publisher myself of some very successful online
publications, I see allot of opportunities that I know will
never last. Then when I introduce, what I feel to be honest,
decent money maker, no -ones interested in it! I do know
my paying advertisers do get good results from my
subscribers, because I always ask them how their ads
did.

So am I blinded by a potentially good money maker?
Or are people just being ignorant to the fact that this is
really a good opportunity?

Sincerely,
Laurie

Subject:Zapperdapper

Has anyone had problems with zapperdapper.  I have sent four letters to
them in the last 10 days and have yet to receive a reply.  I wanted
additional information, but evidently they don't want to do business with
me.  I need a cgi script that will incorporate a double opt in response for
signing up for a mailing list.  Can any one help me.  I can find scripts
for collecting the data from my form, but don't know how to automatically
generate the confirmation email and then how to use the response to the
confirmation email to import the information to my data base.  Would
appreciate any feed back. If any one knows of a company that will do this
for  me at a reasonable rate( like zapperdapper) and will correspond with
me, I would be interested.

I receive a lot of hits on my site, but a lot of them do not go past page
two. I'm afraid that maybe my site is not user friendly. Can you please
review this site? Any comments by anybody would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you... http://casemedia.net.

Well Sno, here it is: I went to your site (nicely done by the way!) But I
had no idea what you really offered. You need a blurb in the massive, but
fast loading, graphic that is on your front page for starters. Maybe use the
description that you have in your Meta Tags?
At least it's something to read other than the links.
Always try to describe the benefits of your business/website on the front
page. I have an attention span of 2 seconds. I already forgot why I was at
your site. Additional comments about how your business/service can benefit
me will definitely help on the front page.
This is the sales pitch for the domain solutions you offer?
QUOTE:
You need to ask yourself these three questions to qualify:
Do you or your clients want your own domain name (www.yourname.com)?
   Yes!
Do you want to pay 70$ USD (2yrs) for your domain name?
   No!
Do you want to pay an additional 110$ USD to transfer the domain to  Skybiz
servers?
   No!
If you qualified, then check out what I have to help you and your  clients
do better business.
END QUOTE

I don't even understand the third question........ AND what are you offering
anyways???
Sorry Sno, but visit some other website hosts and see what you are missing.
When I HAD to move my sites because of what they were costing me in monthly
bandwidth charges, I wasn't ready to wait for a return email. I wanted to
move them NOW!
You need to give a whole lot of in formation, that is what the Internet is
about anyways. The LACK of information at your site explains why people go
back 2 pages and start searching again for something else.
AND lose the frames.
UGH.

I very recently built a free web site at bigstep.com and would love it if
any other subscribers would visit and give me some feedback (good or bad).
The site url is http://www.virtualassistantsolutions.bigstep.com.  I do
intend to register the site and get rid of the .bigstep - I would like to
get some feedback before then.  Also, if anyone out there has any ideas on
promoting a website to other businesses, I would appreciate that as well.
===

Well Toni,
Here goes.
Obviously you need your own domain name. I am glad that you see that as a
priority. Since your service seems to be more locally that nationally
oriented (stop me if I'm wrong) you need to have more information on your
front page.
Every heading that you have on your "Services Offered" page should be listed
on your main page. Every service offered should have it's own page.
navigation should be the same on all pages so potential clients can "jump
around" as they see fit.
Get rid of your links page. It seems intrusive and not fitting in with your
business site.
Do you really need a mailing list/newsletter? Think about this one,
content-wise. Really think about it!!
And shouldn't "Tools Used" be titled "Abilities", "Capabilities" or
something instead? I can "use" everything that you list, but by no means am
I proficient in their use. If you are going to get me to pay for your
services with these programs, Make Me Need You To Do It For Me!

I hope this will help you create a winning website!

I just visited your site and I think that the general layout is very nice,
but when I checked out the domain registration I felt that there was a lot
of information missing.  It seemed like your domains were hosted by Skybiz,
but there was no information on them.  Also, what kind of space does the
$100
buy.  The concept is great, but many details are lacking.  I would recommend
that you look at other domain hosting site s to see what kind of details
that they include on their sites.  Don't overlook the free website offers.
They
are often the most detailed.

I just came back from your site. Your links did not take me to any of your
other pages. I do not believe the entire first page loaded because there was
a large blank area at the foot of the page. If you are an experienced web
maker, you will be able to fix this yourself. If you are not, I can provide
help. My E-mail is goodcooks@earthlink.net I viewed your site on a Pentium
III using Windows 98 and Internet Explorer 5. I wish you luck and look
forward to seeing more of this site. It starts out great.

=====================Site Review Response  (5)===============
From:Tony Murtagh
Subject:http://casemedia.net and
http://www.virtualassistantsolutions.bigstep.com

Hi Bogdan,

I am writing in response to the two site reviews in this weeks issue -
casemedia. and virtualassistantsolutions. I have included them both in the
same reply, because I feel that they both make the same errors.

There is nothing in either home page to encourage a visitor to go further
into their site - there is no USP (Unique Selling Proposition).

With casemedia the home page tells me nothing except that they deal with
domain registrations - but there is nothing there to tell me that they are
the best, the cheapest, the quickest or the most efficient. When I then go
on to their second page, I am met by a frame (ugh - I thought everyone had
stopped using them) which takes up the top third of the page, but which has
no relevant information on it, followed by a couple of banners, one of which
appears to be offering special deals on holidays although it turned out to
be a special offer on their product.

Scrolling down the page, I come across three questions two of which are very
negative - I have still not found out why I should deal with this company.

I would suggest that they try and write some good copy selling their service
that is going to want me to stay on the site and even to consider buying. I
can understand why visitors are not getting past the second page.

With virtualassistantsolutions again the home page has very little on  it to
hold my attention. It just show their address and an invitation to join
their mailing list. Why?  What's in it for me?

What kind of office assistance do they offer? Why should I use their
service?

Going further into their site, the second page is Rates - just a bland list
of their charges - I do not wish to know what they charge (at least not yet)
I need to know whether they will save me time, make my business more
efficient, save me money. A "standard page at $2" doesn't mean a thing to
me.

The next page "about us" does tell us a little about what they do and is
quite useful - but the interesting information is at the bottom of the
page -the first thing I see is a list of opening hours - if this is needed
it should be at the bottom of the page, not above the "selling" information.

The Services Offered page is simply a repeat of the Rates page.

I am sure that Toni's business can work on the net, but not without
rewriting the pages in a much more sales and promotional style.

I trust that the above has not been too negative and that both Sno and Toni
will get something positive out of it

best wishes
Tony Murtagh

5  Steps That  Are Missed Often in Non-successful Advertising
ByRoss W Reyman, Jr.

1) Address your ad to a typical customer. Each sentence or paragraph must be
aimed at that typical shopper. So many ads are not motivation enough to tell
the consumer what he needs using a profile of what is  necessary. Write down
the profile of the customer and emphasis when writing your ad. Make sure
that you don't miss what the patron wants as opposed to what you as the
seller wants.

2) There must be a feeling of urgency for the buyer. ³You need the product
today because it will make you reach your goals',  Don't tell your customer
tomorrow. They must buy today. Urgency!  Study how successful ads make the
customer act now.

3) There must be a list of benefits.  Will you be smarter using the product?
Or richer, or healthier, or faster? Focus on the client, not the advertiser.
Most benefits are skilfully integrated into the ad. IT IS A WASTE OF TIME
AND SPACE IN AN AD if you don't work in benefits.

4) The customer must be told what to do. Tell your customer to order now. So
many ads assume that the customer will guess to write, email, or telephone
for the information, or product. They may because publication ads charge by
the word, but on the internet you have more words. Tell the customer what to
do. Provide the customer on how to respond today in several ways.

5) Study. You never know everything. You might want to start with articles
at Advertising Library at http://www.sonic.net/~rwreyman/adindex.html  There
are articles to tell you how to get free banners, writing an ad, and
choosing the right media

Peter walked up to his teacher's desk, holding a report card
with a big red "F".

"If I were you," said Peter, "I would change this while you still
can."

"Why is that?" asked the teacher.

"Because my daddy told me that if I brought home one more
failing report card, someone was going to get a beating."
