Hi
I wanted to comment on the DHS Club. I joined in December of 1999 as a free
member. And, being sceptical, I looked at it and looked some more. I finally
decided to do the business at the end of January, 2000. This was the BEST
decision that I could have made. I am also part of the Wildman Team that
Reggie Hall talked about.
Although John Wildman is not my direct sponsor, Claude Reynolds is, John

Greetings to you...I just had one more comment on Hotyellow...for months they
sent me stuff asking me to buy this, or join that, and I read them, but was not
interested since they really didn't show me how to really make anything out of
it, plus they never really responded to a couple of minor technical problems I
had with two sites with them; yet, after sending all those offers seeking
whatever, they could not be bothered to give me at least a week or two to get my
files off of their service before they shut down. It is true that I didn't
spend any money with them (thank God), but I feel the same way about people that
conduct themselves in such a manner, as I do about a thief or a liar...I spent
many, many hours working on my sites, and fortunately I had backed up some of
it...what is so hard about using one of their mass mailing machines to let
everyone know when and why they are going down? Anyway, that is my two
cents

Don't feel bad. I lost over $20,000.00 with hotyellow and am at
present
deciding weather or not to sue Troy Warren personally along with Wayne Roark.
My attorney advised me NOT to class action sue them because it will only make
money for the lawyers - and NOT US. His advice is to sue everyone at the
top
both jointly and severally RIGHT NOW BEFORE any class action lawsuit. I
personally will not do this because I have a REAL business going here on the
web, and am using a REAL hosting company XO Communications, that DOES cost
MONEY.
The hucksters on line that offer free stuff have business model that CANNOT
EVER work. What business do you know if that has been around for sixty
years
that doe NOT charge for it's services? I challenge each and every one of
you to
show me one. Troy and company sold STOCK SHARES ILLEGALLY to hundreds if
not
thousands of people, including me. I WILL report him to the SEC and bring
a
CRIMINAL lawsuit against him. He belongs in JAIL for what he did.
He never had any intention to give anyone anything for their money, and even
though I was a Mayor, and one of the FIRST 100 people to give that b...
money, I MYSELF was NEVER involved in any decisions for the company WHATSOEVER.
They kept us all away from each other and in the dark BECAUSE they didn't want
us to figure out what they were up to.
My advice to everyone reading this is to stop looking for the easy money on the
web. There is none, and THERE NEVER WAS for schmoes like us. The
ONLY people
who made money on the web are the ones who CREATED these "free" and
"low cost"
programs designed solely to fleece the general public. Come on folks!

really believe you can get something for nothing?
Do you think General Electric got where it is by GIVING its products away?
Is Windows FREE?
Is a Pentium 3 processor free? What about AMD?
When you go to Kmart do you expect to leave without spending any money?
What was the last time you ate a meal that NO ONE paid for?
If you want to be in business on the internet (or anywhere else) you need to
PLAN for it properly AND EXPECT to pay REAL dollars to your vendors (ISP).
You
also need to have a product or service that has REAL value, something that
anyone would value enough to SPEND money on it. Anything else is a waste
of
time.
NOTICE you DO NOT see any links in this message to MY half baked programs.
NONE
of them have made me a dime yet for over three (count them 3) years INCLUDING
SIX FIGURE INCOME! And I have spent literally THOUSANDS on them. I

is fantastic. Having people airing their problems and then

I'm also got a little problem with HotYellow. Registered a
Domain with them for $18 a year. I paid $180 for 10 years. I
thought it was a good buy. They promised to hoist it for free
when I registered with them. Now what happens? I have no
contact with them since last I click the submit button. I

is registered but to whom.

This sounded like a reference to the recent death of HotYellow?MFO and
your suggestion is a great one.
However, I've owned a domain name and paid for hosting since 1995. I
was with My Free Office for 3 years. When HotYellow went under, so did
MFO so getting your own domain name and paying for a host doesn't
guarantee you won't lose . . . money, time, or web pages.
Just a little observation from someone who supposedly, "did it right"
and
still got caught in the same trap as the "free sites".

Here are some suggestions that may be helpful to you.
Online Marketing
1. Exchange links with other webmasters
I am sure everyone has heard about search engine submissions and the
optimization of websites for optimal ranking with the major search engines, so I
shan't repeat the information that most are already familiar. However, I
have
to mention that an important factor to whether a site will achieve high search
engines' ranking is the number of links linking to the particular site from
other websites. This particular aspect is important NOT ONLY for search
engines
' ranking, but also because with many other sites linking to yours, it
invariably increases your site's chance of being visited by web surfers.
Hence,
always remember to exchange links with webmasters you meet on the internet.
It
takes a lot of work, but it's worth trying and it's free.
2. Banner Exchange
Although not long ago, a lot of webmasters have already questioned the banner
advertising model (dropping click throughs as web surfers get immune to
banners), but given that banner exchange is free of charge, there is no harm
joining a banner exchange network and have your ad served for free. There
are
many programs where you will serve the banners of other advertisers on your site
and in return, your banner will be served on other members' sites. One
example
of such a program is freebanners.com:

3. Textlink exchange
This is another variance of banner exchange programs. Instead of swapping
banners, you swap textlinks with other webmasters in the program. An
example of
text exchange program is trafficsites.com. Benefits of trafficsites
include the
following:
a. By adding Trafficsites' text box to your site, your text link will be shown
125 times everytime your visitors click on a link in the box. In addition you
will receive 1000 free credits for signing up.
b. For every member you refer to TrafficSites, you get 10% of the impressions
they generate forever.

4. Swap Hits
As mentioned above, banner ads have become ineffective to advertise on the
Internet since most people surfing the web have learned to ignore them. So
some
bright chaps came with the idea of swapping your entire webpage with other
websites! This has by far
proven to be the most effective free advertising resource and there are a few
variations to the concept:
a. AdExit
When you join AdExit Exchange for FREE and insert the given script onto your
chosen webpage, Adexit tells your website to open up as a new window when a user
leaves another adexit.com member's site. At the same time, when the user
leaves
your website,
adexit forwards them to another adexit network member.

b. SwapPage
You literally swap your pages with other members. When you sign up as a
charter
member at NO cost and add the given script to your web page, every time your

5. Start your own mailing list/newsletter
After you have managed to attract first time visitors to your site, the next
challenge is to keep them coming back. Hence you need a way to efficiently
keep
in touch with your customers. One way of doing that is to start your own
mailing list or newsletter. Supply free contents, updates of new
happenings at
your site on your newsletter to keep it useful to subscribers. If your
hosting
service does not host your mailing list, you can also apply to be a list owner
at one of those free mailing lists providers. Examples are ListPower and
ListBot.

6. Use a pay-per-click serch engine
A pay-per-click search engine is an effective way to purchase targetted traffic
at prices which you are comfortable with. Basically, you bid for a few
keywords
that pertain to your site and when a surfer searches the engine for those
keywords, your website's description and URL will be shown on the search results
pages. The ranking of your website depends on how high your bids are.
One
known tactic of cutting down cost is to bid for many obscure keywords (they cost
less than popular keywords), rather than 1 or 2 popular keywords. I use
GoTo.com and Bay9 and I have always kept my bidding to below $0.05 per keyword
with the exception of a few very popular ones. I have a link to Bay9 at my

Offline Marketing
1. Promote your URL by printing it on all information you sent out. Some
suggestions include putting your URL on envelopes, brochures, letterheads,

2. Put a Wesbite Decal on your car. This is a transparent tape with your
URL
printed on it that you stick on your car's rear windscreen. It is ideal
for
situations like traffic jams, parking and when you travel around crowded places.

3. Send press releases to newspapers and magazines about your website. If
you
are uncertain about this, try the smaller press and publishers first. If
your
press release is printed, it will reach thousands of more readers for free.

I've also received about 50 spam e-mails from gp
members within last few months, easily identified either
by their id or gp e-mail, sent complains to their abuse
and cc to support departments - haven't received a
single response and some spammers continued till I got
to their isp. I will never ever even consider joining a
company that regards spam as a form of promotion.

Platinum. As for the delay in the launching of GP... just look around you at
every other opp there is online. Do you launch with bugs in the system ? or do

problems. They announced their existence in Oct....and I have received a check
in November AND December...with Januarys on the way. You do not HAVE to pay ANY

Hi Adlanders ;}
People are, naturally, always asking how to get traffic to their
website. "I've built the website. I've got the .com - I've got the
products...now how do I get anyone to come?"
I am no guru but I do have several domains that each get 25,000 to
45,000 hits a month. Nothing to sneeze at, yet I am not doing
anything *extra or daily* to obtain this. Here is what I believe:
#1 - Time has something to do with it. My OLDEST domain that
was submitted to the SE once or twice about 3 years ago brings in
the most traffic. It has a lot of very focused content-rich pages. It
also brings in traffic to my other sites as they are mainly all related
in content, except for 2 of them, and are all linked to it.
#2 - Affiliates. Some of them bring in a lot of traffic and they get
paid! Having affiliates is like link trading only far better because
you know your links are not stuck on some back page somewhere
never to be seen--they are out front and trying to sell your stuff!
3# - Every customer you have every had you keep! One more time -
Every customer you have every had you keep! You do this by
Superior customer support. The customer is Always right and you
talk nice! :} Then...they send you their friends!
4# - As mentioned here recently - Write articles! Make them good
and you won't believe where they will turn up. I just had one run
that I was totally unaware of in a resourceday newsletter. I'd have
never known it if someone hadn't written to me to ask a question.
5# - The obvious - You need to submit to the 10/12 big engines.
Pay-per-click is great. Lotto advertising is great. Don't waste your
time with FFA and that stuff and remember friends, You get what
you pay for. *Free* sometimes can cost you a whole lot more in
the long-haul than paying a few bucks here and there to get some
really good tools. For example-if you cannot or don't want to
create your own logo-pay the logoguy $25.00 and be amazed!
AND...
BRAND YOU - Make a great *About us* page - full name and
contact info. Smiling great photo of yourself. Don't hide in the
web! Being in business online IS the real world! People like a face-
a name-contact-in short-they like a humanoid. ;} Pump it up!
That isn't a traffic generator but it SELLS you once they are there.
You have to breed trust and you have to honor that trust!!

I've found to be most effective for me is E-Zine
advertising. You have a built in opt-in list when
you have a targeted E-Zine. That's why I have
two E-Zines. Yogaerobics is geared toward those
people who are trying to make their bodies more
physically fit. $$$ Unlimited Dollars $$$ is geared
toward those people who want to make money
on the internet.
Everyone has an E-Zine in them. It just takes
putting what you know most about down in printed
form and finding people that are interested in your
E-Zine's subject matter.

Hi Bogdan,
This is my first time writing although I have been 'lurking' for some
time and have learned a lot. I am a relatively new to this business.
I
created by own website and got it up and running at the beginning of
November 2000. Things are very slow yet, but I am promoting like mad
and the second issue of my newsletter is due out next week. Any
criticism of my site would be appreciated.
However, now to my question. Can somebody explain in simple language
what a mirror site is? What do they do? Do I need one? If so,
how do I
create one?
My site is affiliate programs at the moment, but I am planning another site
for which I have purchased some resell items and hope to provide services
like eBook Publishing and eBook Covers (when I have taught myself how to do
them.)

Hi Bogdan and all Digest readers,
I have really enjoyed your ezine over the last months and have found the Q &
A
section especially helpful. I am hoping you or your reads will be able to help
me solve an annoying problem I have. While online I am continually getting
illegal operation errors. Sometimes it will completely shutdown my internet
connections and sometimes it will just shutdown the window I am in.
Someone
suggested deleting temporary internet files and I have done that to no avail.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated as it is really hard to carry
out my daily business with this continually going on.

First of all I want to congratulate you with your digest!It is only the
second time I read it-sorry to admit!-and to my own surprise I find it

Question: Can anyone tell me his/her experience about che-ching?
Can anyone tell me his/her experience about the $25
adventure?(Some kind of chain letter,which is said to be very successful
and legal;send $5 to 5 different addresses,they will each send you a
report.Any person you can convince to do the same will pay you $5,but
the total effect is exponential,so you get a total of thousands of $5
bills,you only have to send the reports to the right people and keep
promoting your initial letter).
Are both programs a scam,to good to be true?
I hope to get several responses to my questions so that I can finally
realise what I got myself into:worth to believe it or was I fooled?

Hi Sno,
Saw your request for site review on Adland Digest.
I looked at your site, and as a marketing professional
who puts out marketing ezines and designs many websites,
I must tell you your site is not very comfortable to navigate
and read.
For one thing, the pages download very slowly due to the
large graphics.
Also that green color is very ugly and not a very inviting color.
Color is very important to websites. Certain colors turn people
off. Ever notice fast food restaurants use a lot of orange?
That is because orange supposedly induces hunger.
Pink is supposed to make you feel peaceful and yellow
is supposed to make you feel happy. They say to paint your
house yellow if you are trying to sell it!
So I would dump that putrid green color asap.
Also, I don't have a clue what you are selling. It is important
to have the info. at the top of your homepage and every other
page so that people don't have to go crazy figuring it out.
And one more thing. Ditch the frames. The frames at the top
makes the site very hard to read and deal with. The bottom
area is too small to navigate and you can't see a large section
of the area at once, you need to scroll and it is annoying.
So I think you are losing visitors, because they have a headache
after checking out your first two pages. I know I do!
