==============Pay-Per-Click Search Engines=============
From:Brian Sater

Dear Bogdan,

I have been reading adland for quite awhile now. I continue to see people go
through what I have gone through. It seems that we join affiliate programs or
put up websites and then we don't know what to do next. People are willing to
put in hours each d ay at free sites which get s them nowhere and they don't
realize the cost.

You will have much more success advertising at the top of ezines, writing
articles for ezines and using pay per click advertising. Think about how much
your time is costing you. With that said, here are some thoughts I put down
earlier:

How to Get Traffic to Your Site Today
It seems that everyone is looking for ways to generate traffic. If you have your
own website or an affiliate site I have some good news. You don't have to spend
alot of money or wait for your traffic to mysterious usly come in.

I would like to share with you a way to generate targeted visitors to your
website which will produce sales for you. While I don't promote this method as
the only way to get sales, it is successful for getting immediate traffic and
get your sales start ed.

This seldom-used method is using pay-per-click search engines. Before you get
discouraged and tell me you don't have the budget for it, it can be done for the
cost of a simple affiliate program. I also need to say this: You can't afford
not to. If you think you are going to do it all without spending a dime, you
will spend countless hours on the internet and not generate the traffic you need
to be successful.

Pay per click is exactly like it sounds. You go to one of these search engines
and instead of submitting and wondering when your site will be listed or where
it will show up, you get listed immediately or in a day or two. You bid on
keywords and pay on ly for those visitors that click on them.

What do your statistics show? How many visitors does it take for your site to
make a sale? If you make $20 for every 100 visitors, that's $0.20 per click. Now
you know your break even point. You want to make sure you bid on keywords for
less than $0.20 per click so you will make a profit.

At this point if you or your site are new, don't worry. I am now going to show
you what to do not only to generate many hits inexpensively, but you can use
this to get the ball rolling. The trick to getting visitors to your site is to
bid on hundreds o f search terms. Think about the road less traveled. You may
have to bid alot for the phrase "make money" but what about "mlm" or
something else? Go here to generate a list and put it in a spreadsheet like
Excel:

http://www.goodkeywords.com

Now we need to start an account somewhere. I suggest brainfox for several
reasons. One, you can get immediate traffic from your site being a featured
listing. Two, you can bid for only $.001 per keyword. Three, right now they are
offering a 500% bonus. That's right, I put in only $30 and they credited me with
$150! That is just unheard of. I hope you have your terms on your spreadsheet
together. They accept bids for multiple terms like this with Excel. It is an
ideal situation.

http://www.brainfox.com/

That should get the ball rolling for you. You will be happy with targeted
traffic coming in to your site in a day or two instead of waiting weeks or
months or just guessing at how to develop it.

For more on these types of search engines, here is where they review them:

I have found that the key to success with SFI is the Powerline you join. I
originally joined a Powerline where the only people bringing in new Affiliates
were the team leader and myself. A few of my referrals upgraded, which meant a
once only commission for me, but I resisted upgrading because the lack of
activity from the rest of the Powerline.

Then, a friend recommended that I rejoin under a new powerline that he had
joined. I had my doubts, but I followed his advice. The NEXT DAY I checked my
stats and was astounded to see a page full of new affiliates already! I have
been in this powerline for less than 1 month and there are now 1,809 Affiliates,
25 Members and 5 Subscribers under me! Remember, when you upgrade to Member you
share in commissions earned by ALL members below you (a minimum $9 a month), as
well as monthly commissions from those you directly refer (and upgrade). When I
think of how many Members are likely to be in this Powerline in 12 months time I
get VERY excited. So, if you're not having the success you expected with SFI, or
you're not particularly good at bringing in your own referrals, I humbly suggest
you rejoin under this powerline http://www.sixfigureincome.com/?857083 and then
check your stats after a few weeks. You CAN make money with SFI. For sure, you
need to work at it to really succeed, but being in the right powerline to start
with certainly does help!

Your best bet to getting quality advice about marketing this program can be
gotten from their member discussion board at
http://www.sfidboard.com/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi  There are plenty of people
there that can give you encouragement and support that you need.  You can
also always contact your upline, as well as the person that referred you.

When I was with SFI, I made pretty good money.  The thing you have to
remember is that you need to market it just like you would any other retail
business.  There are products you are selling.  In order to make money, you
need to let people know what they are.  If you take some time to go through
the member training at http://www.sixfigureincome.com/members
You will be best off to take a look at the Smart Start program.

Hope this helps,

Hi Mirah,
I saw your comment in the Adland Digest about SFI. I didn't receive any checks
the first few months either..... but it was MY FAULT. Now I am getting a check
every month (and it gets bigger each time)
from them. One of the key factors was I signed up for Full Circle Success:
http://www.fullcirclesuccess.com/?74892 (grocery savings paid for it) and then
my "Upline" spill over began to kick in.
I looked in my Powerline for you but you must be in another powerline so you
might want to contact your Powerline leader for some input. Also go to your
members area (http://www.sixfigureincome.com/members/ ) sign in, and review each
topic. The NEW SFI Compensation Program is absolutely fantastic so be sure to
review it. If that doesn't motivate you then I don't know what will. SFI is a
truly exceptional opportunity and can create an excellent income
for you (us) but it does require "some" effort.

Hey Mirah,

Have you upgraded to member with SFI??  I upgraded in my second month last
year and have received a check each and every month.  They have even revamped
the program to where members will DEFINITELY earn at least $9.00 every month.
As your downline keeps growing that will most likely increase.  Mine increased
the third month and the fourth month and so on.
Check your genealogy and look for your team leader and see how much they are
earning.  You'll be amazed!  That gives you a good idea of how much more you CAN
earn too.  It takes a little time but you can get there.
    Hope this helps!

From: M. Jean Miller
Subject:SFI

Yesterday, I celebrated my second month anniversary with SFI. During that time,
I have personally recruited over 60 affiliates with over 200 in my powerline. I
have had three member upgrades.

As with any business, it takes time for the seed to grow and flower. This is a
legitimate business opportunity, of which the parent company is a member of the
BBB. For those who join, and read the training materials and partipate in the
Discussion Board to learn additional information, the constant theme is "you get
out of it what you put into it." Translated, if you want your business to
success, you have to work it like a business. That means personal effort.

SFI makes no guarantees on income; personal effort dictates that as in any
business. I am getting a check, and anticipate doing very well at the end of two
years if not at the end of one year. SFI leaders constantly reinforce that your
effectively working the system will take 2 to 5 years to generate income
necessary to replace your current job...and "retire." Anyone reading the
Discussion Boards know of one individual, now a leader, who had a monthly check
in July of $4000; another had $2000. These people had to put in time to develop
that income--1 to 2 years.

There is no guarantee that I will be making that kind of money. There are
relatively few guarantees in any type of honest venture, as there are too many
variables...and the biggest variable is the affiliate.

I'm doing fine with SFI with very little expenditure upon my part. But then, I
spent much time reading all the training materials and spending time each day on
the Discussion Board to keep updated. Then I spend time posting ads, etc.  It is
an investment in the business.

SFI is not a get rich proposition. It teaches the techniques necessary to become
a six figure earner, and has some among its ranks who have achieved that status.

Again, what you get out of it depends upon what you put into it. There are
people posting 200+ ads a day. They get results.

SFI is the first venture I have found that really pays and has a very solid
reputatation with the BBB membership. I feel valued in SFI and have always had
good responses to my inquiries. My group leader has always responded within one
day, and often the same day.

There is a chain of command of communications to be followed. A group leader can
handle communications of his group better because of the smaller number than
someone at the top handling the communication requests of almost one million
affiliates and members.

It was recently revealed, for example, because of the large numbers of
communications going to some members in certain ISPs that some ISPs couldn't
handle the traffic. As a result, SFI had modified the numbers of communications
going to affiliates and members in terms of daily notifications, etc.  The rapid
increase in numbers of people resulting in updates going to everyone downline to
the 75th person had to be refined to better serve communications through certain
ISPs.

Additionally, SFI has a very strong anti-spam system. If they catch anyone...or
someone is reported...they investigate, and if justified, the person is dropped
from SFI. It has happened.

I am proud to be a SFI member. My energies are concentrated there, rather than
diluting them on GP from which I received exactly one communication upon
joining, and no responses to my inquiries. SFI is delivering on its promise and
currently offers to the public a variety of products and services.

Hi,

sfi is a great program but to make money you have to promote
as with most mlm companies you are paid on commissions
you achieve. i have been in since oct. 99 and break even every month. .the
key in the who thing is to get your referrals to upgrade then you make money
this program is no different then any other ,you are paid for what you do .
then you get paid for there achievement
inclosing anyone having difficulty in it should contact there
upline or sponsor for help in promoting.

Subject:Going Platinum  Phenomenon

Hello Bogdan,

I guess that airing my personal opinion has irked some of the readers of the
Adland's Digest. Good. That is what an open air forum is all about.
Maybe a little more information about what I do and how I represent myself
is in order.
I have been online since early 1995 and I joined my first affiliate program
in June of that year. July I received my first commission check for US$7.98
and my monthly income has been growing ever since to the point where it now
is more than 100% of my annual "bringing home the bacon" regular day job pay
checks.
I have been ripped off, dollar-wise and time-wise, promoting the wrong
programs and the wrong affiliate programs.
Just as most newcomers to internet marketing start, I joined any and every
program in an effort to make fast dollars and found that most just didn't
work. Now I am much more particular about the programs that I will join and
I perform some simple investigating into each and every opportunity that
appears, that I find interesting or has been recommended by someone,
somewhere.
I currently run 3 very successful web sites, with more than 4,000 unique
visitors every day, page views in the 100,000's.
If I wanted to expend my energy to successfully promote any program, I am
sure that I could make it work. And indeed, I do make them work.
Being a part of the Adlands community, I am not afraid to help, advise and
share knowledge with others that hope to make some money, find a program to
promote and become successful online. Starting a small business in the brick
and mortar world costs big dollars. Starting online usually means filling
out a form, and promoting the link code you receive. The benefits for a
hopeful small business person to make money online can truly surpass what a
brick and mortar business may accomplish, given the same resources for
start-up needs and expenses.
Recently my investigations have been centered around the "Going Platinum
Phenomenon".
There are people that are making money on this program. Fair enough. I
became interested and began my investigating. And I added my voice in this
digest as to my opinions of the program and what it entailed. I offered the
proof that I found and raised questions, that to this date, have yet to be
answered. I have been attacked by making my opinion known and offering "only
my sour grapes" as information.
I do not make statements lightly about any program.
And I will recap the statements to date that I offered:
Digest # 207
>>QUOTE:
"Going Platinum" would be illegal in my province, British Columbia, Canada,
since it appears to be a pyramid scheme. What exactly are they selling? Free
internet access? I can get that from altavista.com, an established company.
(By the way, where is it and how accessible?) A community with email, fax,
local content, try www.mybc.com an established company. (By the way, where
is it and how accessible?) A way to make money by recruiting others into
their system? Yes, definitely.
The main reason I have concerns about this system is: where is the sample of
the end product? Why is it not mentioned as an end rather than a means to
the end? If everyone is pulling dollars out of the same pot, how big does
the pot have to be?
It's interesting to note that Going Platinum has no news to share with us!

John Geary

John, the "defending the emperors new clothes" seems a fitting description,
does it not? What exactly do the "free members" have to work with when they

you have recruited enough other members that have paid their fees to allow

It is also interesting that they have information concerning Compubank for

I'll email Compubank and see what they have to say. Of course, it's possible
that they are just waiting for their affiliate link with Compubank to be set

Again, interesting.....

I have emailed Compubank and will share with you their response.

make more than the member on level 6 now and forever. Each

more heavily but it also takes into account the need of the

BTW, more than 50% of Americans DO NOT have cable TV. 4% of Americans do not

And to all who think we're fools, WHY? Most of the people now in GP paid
nothing, zilch, zero, to be in it. It has cost nothing, therefore they have
lost nothing. Those of us who have paid our $25, which, by the way, was OUR

Libby, I'd like to find the bulletin board. I'd like to see the products.
SHOW ME! As for you saying that most people that have joined have joined for

In the 80's Amway paid several hundreds of millions of dollars in fines to
the Canadian government for running a pyramid business. They have since,
obviously, renamed and regrouped and continue to operate here. They still
promise riches beyond belief. They still have success stories and believers.
Some people still believe in their products and continue to purchase from

They still recruit by hanging a carrot in front of you, instead of product.
Enough said.

Sounds like sour grapes Robert. I get replies to ALL of my emails at Going

Hi Al,
You obviously miss my point. You are a "true believer". You are cashing
checks based on your downlines active participation in this program, which
to date has not provided a single tangible (or virtual) product.
My complaint is not against the programs that will make you money. Indeed, I
have a website that makes me money and another website that lets me have fun
online, which makes me money, and a third website where I share all that I
have to share on how to make money without selling a product of your own.
That I have no problem with that as long as the final product or membership
has a value, tangible or familiar.
You, on the other hand, are selling what amounts to air.
You are encouraging people to join you in selling to sell. NOT in a product,
but in selling.

This is where you are getting paid. Period.
You have made NO MONEY in the use of any of the Going Platinum products use,

Al, please ask yourself, what is a "pyramid scheme"?
Here is the answer:
QUOTE
The 4 rounds that make up the Going Platinum Affiliate Program are the
Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Rounds. You enter the GPAP in the Bronze
Round with the objective of "Going Platinum". From the moment that you enter
the GPAP, and throughout your membership, Going Platinum(tm) will play an
active role in helping to build your revenue stream by placing new members
in your Organization, even if you never refer anyone to the program. The
first 3 members that you either refer or that are placed in your
Organization by Going Platinum(tm) are positioned directly under you. The
next 9 members are placed under the 3 and the following 27 are placed under
the 9........
END QUOTE
>From :http://www.goingplatinum.com/Program/gpaffiliateprogram.html

To continue with answers to your message: I have received NO responses to
the many emails I have sent to Going Platinum, either about their business
practices, the actual location of their offices or about the spam I have
received.

I am NOT a member, free or otherwise, as I only belong to affiliate programs
that offer a real tangible or virtual product (virtual being a software
download, advertising area, personals membership or newsletter) that is in
actual existence.
As for "bugs in the system" whatever you may call it, this was my
prediction. AND I predict that it will continue beyond the end of January
but that the member area will be restored, temporarily.

Please go back to some of the Adlands previous issues and copy the owner and
website information I gathered for Going Platinum. You'll need it soon
enough.

And I'd like to know what happened to the other "true believers" that first
started hyping this promotion in this digest. There have been no responses
to me directly or though submissions here.
Maybe they found a conscience.

>>END QUOTE

Now that all are caught up in the discussion, at least my views on this
program, I can only offer a few more words.....

Comparing "Professional Resources System International" and "Going Platinum"
As reported in the Miami Herald, Sunday January 23 2000 and reprinted at
World Wide Scams.
http://www.worldwidescam.com/gpgold.htm
Effectively describes the Going Platinum earning potential of members.

To the many that are members of Going Platinum, I wish you well, but stand
by my original words - Cash those checks quickly.
And as something that you should know - Barnes and Noble is in NO WAY
affiliated with Going Platinum, as shown on:
http://www.goingplatinum.com/Program/gpcommunity.html
And the Barnes and Noble team is currently seeking remedies for the
copyright infringement concerning the use of their logo.

I have yet to receive any responses to any of my emails sent to the Going
Platinum staff about any of my concerns.
Indeed, all of the members that have spammed me still have active
memberships in the Going Platinum program, contrary to the anti-spam
policies - I guess in some cases, spam is allowed?

Fair ye well.

You won't hear from me again about this program - except when it folds.

I cannot agree more with Udo about his comments about VisaRebates.  Did Visa

I didn't join Going Platinum either as I couldn't see what service/product was

don't feel enough motivation to even join for free.

Where there's no trust, check out an opportunity first before joining.  It

You can't get to the visarebates.com site thru visarebates.com.  You have to
come from a referral link.  Ok, that's good because it doesn't circumvent the
affiliate program.  But once you have someone's referral link, you MUST check
out the interest rates by clicking on the Terms and Conditions link.  It will
blow your mind.  People, if you want to be affiliates, good luck to you, but
DON'T YOU DARE sign up for a card yourself.  To make a long story
short...actually I can't because making it any shorter would take away from the
sticker shock.  Read it for yourself.  I have NEVER seen a credit card company
advertise rates in such a manner.  Are you willing to pay up to 41.50% interest?
If so, maybe you should contact your cousin Vido instead.

Credit Terms Summary:
Note: The following terms and rates are stated in their "worst-case" scenario so
that the banks evaluating the application you are submitted from this website
will not have to publish further disclosure to you which would slow down the
process. You will receive a complete written description of the terms and
conditions that apply to your card before you make the decision to accept them.
As of 1/8/2001 the Annual Percentage Rate (APR) for purchases can be as high as
18.25%, 20.25%, 22.25%, 25.25%, 28.25%, or 35.50% based upon our evaluation of
your income and credit information at the time you apply; or, in the event of
delinquency*, 24.25%, 26.25%, 28.25%, 31.25%, 34.25%, or 41.50%, respectively.
Variable rate information: Your APR may vary, but may not be less than the
maximum 27.00%. Your APR may be determined by adding 8.75%, 10.75%, 12.75%,
15.75% or 18.75% (your "Margin"), respectively, to the highest "Prime Rate" as
published in The Wall Street Journal on the 25th day of the month preceding the
month in which the billing cycle began. In the event of delinquency, a higher
APR (Delinquency APR) will apply*. Your Delinquency APR may vary, but may be as
high as 23.00%, 25.00%, 27.00%, 30.00% or 33.00%, respectively. Your Delinquency
APR is determined by adding 14.75%, 16.75%, 18.75%, 21.75% or 24.75% (your
Delinquency Margin), respectively, to the Prime Rate.

Hi Bogdan, John C. and Everyone

I really have to agree with John Colanzi on his
posting about making "Easy Money." First of
all no money ever comes easy, unless you do
inherit it! I've been marketing on the net for 8
months now and am finally starting to achieve
the success I want for myself and my business
partners.

I started with no experience, no nothing and I
have now went from publishing one newsletter,
to editing a total of 20 (by end month). I have
to deal with ezines with a total of 50 subscribers
to over 20,000! I put at least 12 to 14 hours a
day into my business. No I don't have to put that
many hrs into it if I don't want to. I don't want to
fall behind and I want to make decent money so
I do!

In order to succeed on the internet you must
really be willing to put alot of time and effort
into it. It may not be easy at first but it can pay
off in the end!

I agree with John, if you want to succeed with an online business, you have to
be willing to work it...BUT also, you have to join the right kind of affiliate
program!!

What is the right kind of affiliate program?  The kind that will support you and
help you to succeed.  I've joined too many programs and have never heard from
them again and worked my fingers to the bone to promote them and have received
ZERO results.

The right kind of program provides you free ONGOING training, and ONGOING
support.  You want to look for a program that can offer several websites on how
to promote their business, a group or discussion board, team leader support, a
newsletter subscription & SUBSCRIBE to it, (it will keep you abreast of the
newest things of the program & usually offers training), and you want to look
for a program that keeps growing.  A program that's willing to change things for
the better, are learning and improvising what they are learning to aid everyone.

Anytime a program leaves you on your own to do anything, offering you no
training or just one time training even, and offers you no support the ENTIRE
time you're an affiliate...you most likely WILL fail dollar-wise.  Move on to a
program that will provide you behind the scenes help you will need to prosper.
The program I joined that offers all of these things had paid monthly...each and
every single month!

Best wishes on your business endeavors!

I wish to thank Kenneth Hanna for an excellent letter in your 26th January 2001
edition of Adland Digest. It was so good to hear someone extolling the virtues
of a Company even after it's demise.

There is a lot of truth in the saying, " The evil that Companies do live after
them, the good is oft' interred in their bones", so it appears with Hot Yellow
98.

People are so fickle these days, one minute they're saying the Business
Opportunity they are promoting is fantastic, the next, they have joined  a
competitive Company and it's the worst thing to get involved with since the dawn
of creation.

We can not get everything right all of the time. Let us keep the criticism for
those scam artists that truly deserve it.

Still hoping for a perfect world.

Hello Bogdan and fellow Adlander's!

First I would like to thank
adland for all the advice on the internet and the many comments from
other Adlander's, who share there ups and downs in the Online Business
World.

Well just to let you all know that Hotyellow98 was some what deceitful
in their business ethics. I have bee reading several other posting
around the net, with people who did not get paid the due commission
checks, while others like me lost much time and effort,  loosing web
pages!

I was still learning lots on internet marketing when I signed up with
HY98, way back in June 2000, with there free web page builder. After
several months of building my pages I realized later that hosting a
Domain Name would be the way to go, so after months of hounding by HY98
to go for paid hosting, I figured  I would let them  host my name
www.freelifeup.com for $19.95 US.
Well for those who know, creating web pages from scratch can be very
time consuming and being a beginner in HTML + a new entrepreneur. At
least I can say, lesson learnt! I decided to go with the ones who
connect me to the internet, that way at least I know my pages will all
still be there tomorrow.
My advice to all, is to really consider who you host your Domain Name
with. I I'm still going through this ordeal, so I know the feeling of
been scammed.
Fortunately I didn't lose commission's like some members, but I know I
could have just as easily have lost way more. Just having a web site
running in full advertising mode, would have been a great loss to many
and I do feel for them.
Troy Warren  said he had about 25,000 people with HY98 and when his
other partners took over and they caused HY98 to spiral down. This would
also affect many thousand more, directly or indirectly.
I believe hosting is one of the most important components of any serious
web marketer and there should be strict regulations on Domain Hosting.
It's like having some bulldoze your house over, with Zero consequences!
OUCH!

Well I hope  that what I shared will help others to make sure they
investigate what-ever the business or Domain Hosting that they wish to
place their money and trust in, before they commit.
I was sent to BulkRegister.com, to change info for my domain.
www.freelifeup.com.

Best Regards to those who were sucked in like me and a warning to those
who are newbies with hope. God bless
David Vegh

I agree with S Brown, I started looking for a program to use to earn money on
the web, and found most to be selling the program, no product or service. When I
found Adplacing.com it was like a breath of fresh air. Here is a program that
gives you a job to do and the more you do, the more you are paid, it is up to
you. I find it gives me great satisfaction, in that the more I am paid the
better job I have done for the advertisers. Like S. Brown I have joined other
programs with no success, but with Adplacers I am being paid monthly, and the
support is second to none. Anyone who enjoys job satisfaction I would recommend
Adplacers to.

Hello Bogden,

I have a comment about the Adplacing.com Program.  I have been an affiliate of
this program since July 2000.  I have probably made about $100.  I have actively
promoted this online and offline.  I don't want to discourage anyone but, many
people don't want to pay the $49.95 sign up fee and I just heard the fee is
going up another $10.00!  With this program you REALLY have to promote it daily
and get your downline working also in order to get a good income.  Many people
"poop" out rather quickly after signup.  Just food for thought.  I have actually
done the best promoting  online marketing tools.  I have made over $120.00
promoting just one webiste in  3 weeks.  Thanks for your ezine, I have always
enjoyed it!

Sincerely,

To Bogdan and the Adlanders,

The Internet Wire "Daily Debut" is Great!

Wow, I am really excited to inform you all about something
I have found which is awesome for generating traffic and new
business for a good website.  It's called the "Daily Debut"
from Internet Wire.

The "Daily Debut" costs $99.00 currently, and since it is
relatively new I am certain it will get flooded after a time and
the price will go up.  Now is a great time to try it. I ran my
website listing on the "Daily Debut" on Jan 23rd, and I have
never had higher traffic to my website.

It is now the 25th, and traffic is still up. So far, I have over
400 new "unique" visitors to my website since the 23rd over
the average, and quite a few new sales and subscribers to
my ezine.  I wanted to recommend it to Adlanders who are
purchasing paid ads for their site.

Of course, I cannot guarantee that someone else will get
the same results. Further I recommend that if someone
wants to do this promotion they update and tweak their
website to get it ready for journalistic and public scrutiny.

I have listed a review of this service on my site at this url:

I've hit most of the well known sites and keep my ops and services fresh and

I don't mind spending the time posting manually, but I do belong to several

Most of my ops are MLM types like GP, Gold Club, etc. with several "get paid

I'm looking for new sources, hopefully freebies, to get even more presence

Any ideas will be used!
