=================Success Story=====================
From:Jo McNamara

"I do not measure success by the quantity of what is in my checkbook, but by
the quality of what is in my heart.but quantity is a close second."   Jo
McNamara

I looked up the word "successful" in my thesaurus and some of the words
listed were:  happy, lucky, fortunate, unbeaten, undefeated, blossoming.  If
that is the definition of "successful", then I am truly "successful beyond
measure".

I started dabbling in Net marketing in October 2000.  It didn't long for me
to become a victim of the "become-a-millionaire-overnight" mentality that's
so prevalent on the Net.  I found a marketing system that was supposed to be
so easy to sell that even beginners could start making money the VERY FIRST
DAY!  I spent most of my time advertising rather than learning HOW to
advertise.

By January 2001, I considered Net marketing a hobby.  I wasn't making any
money and the $20 checks weren't filling my mailbox but, "playing the Net
marketing game" was something amusing to do when I had some spare time.

In June, I found a program I was so impressed with, I became a member and an
affiliate and started promoting it exclusively.

Not only was I promoting this program about Internet marketing, I was also
learning from it.  It wasn't long before I threw away the "get-rich-quick"
mindset.  I began to realize that this is a profession and like any
profession, I would have to take it seriously and learn my craft.  (Never
mind that the last time I studied anything seriously, Nixon was president.)

Then it happened.  I don't know exactly when or how it happened. My dabbling
that had become a hobby was now a PASSION and my life hasn't been the same
since!

HOW PASSION HAS CHANGED MY LIFE

"All, everything that I understand, I understand only because I love."
Tolstoy

*  "Not Quite Ready To Become a Member of Mensa, But."
Mentally I feel more alert and creative.  Every day is a day of learning
something new and of being continuously challenged.  There's clarity in my
thinking I didn't have before.  I actually feel like I've replaced some
brain cells I destroyed in the '70's.

*  "Move Over Energizer Bunny.  She Just Keep Going And Going and Going"
Physically I have more energy.  I can't wait to get up each day.  I'm not
waiting for something to happen; I'm making it happen.  I believe that is
the difference between living or merely existing.

*  "It Has Been Said, "Everyone gets in a rut.a perfectionist moves in"
"Thinking outside of the box" has never been one of my strengths.  But as I
try to become more creative, I have to mentally push myself into areas that
I'm not familiar with.  I guess you could say, I have to evict myself from
my "comfort zone."

*  "Grant Me Patience, Lord.  But Please Hurry!"
Practicing patience is a hard one for me.  I always want what I want
yesterday (the day before would be much better).  I expect results NOW!  Net
marketing has taught me to slow down, learn what I can handle today and to
have no expectations for a least a year.  I remember reading, "Internet
marketers don't fail; they just give up before they succeed."

*  "Mommy, I Can't See It, But I Just Know There's A Monster In My Closet!"
I have learned that fear is the imaginary monster in my closet.  I am very,
very slowly overcoming my fear of failure.  Just writing this article is a
HUGE step for me.  The thought of submitting it is downright terrifying!
But whether this article gets published or not is not the point anymore.  I
will still consider myself a winner.  I pushed through my fear.I sat down,
wrote it and submitted it.

*  "The Path Of Your Destiny Is Determined By Your Thoughts."
I refuse to let negativity enter my mind.  I have an attitude of expecting
positive things to happen.  I think that's an IMPORTANT key to success in
sales.  I think that's a VITAL key to success in living

I'm still very raw around the edges.  I know I have a long road ahead of me.
The more I learn, the more I realize I need to learn more.  I've made a lot
of mistakes and there's A LOT more in the future.  But I'm comfortable with
the fact that every mistake is just one more step forward.  And I'm
comfortable with the concept that Internet marketing will keep evolving.keep
re-inventing itself.  I will never reach the point where I can say, "I know
it all."  I will always be a student; I will always be learning.  I find
that EXCITING!

I know deep in my heart that one day (not today, not tomorrow, perhaps not
even a year from now), I will be very good at this.  I will be very good at
this because I'm not doing it for the money.  I'm doing it because I love
doing it. I'm doing it to keep that PASSION alive.

So to go back to the beginning of what "successful" means:  I am a very
happy person.  I feel fortunate to have found something that has introduced
PASSION in my life.  I will be unbeaten because it's not all about money.
And because of that I will be undefeated because I will be able to ride out
the rough times.  And I am blossoming, not only as a marketer, but also as a
human being.

"Only work which is the product of inner compulsion can have a spiritual
meaning."  Walter Gropius

From:Gerry Timm
Subject:A little bit of everything

Hi Bogdan

As always, please feel free to remove my affiliate ID from any of the links
mentioned in this letter. I write to share as my thank you for the best FREE
info on the web.

I'll start with the bad stuff and save the best for last.

1) I often use free sites to fool around and test different things.
A few months ago I signed up at 12mb.com. So far my account is still "on
hold" but there is a page up with my name and email address on it.( I'm sure
the "scavengers" will appreciate that.) I've sent several emails to all the
departments listed and got nothing but an autoresponse from the webmaster.
Next thing I did was look up the domain name to get more info on them. Got
that but they haven't answered me either. The moral of this story is simple:
know who you're dealing with before jumping in.

2)If anyone runs into the people who invented pop-ups,
please give 'em a good slap in the back of the head for me.

3)I used Namesecure..com to register 2 domains so that I could easily
forward those domains wherever I wanted. (That's what they do) The
forwarding did not work. After 3 weeks of oneway email I finally called
them. The first thing I heard on their call system was something like: "your
satisfaction is our priority". NOT TRUE! Once I spoke to someone there she
did fix the problem but couldn't tell me why there was a problem in the
first place. IDIOT! Needless to say I won't be dealing with them again.

Ok, ok, now for some good stuff
(Bet you though I'd never get to it. Eh?)

1) I found a great little (very little) FREE pop-up killer that doesn't use
a lot of resources. It's called: KILLAD
and you can get it here: http://wwwwin.wplus.net/pp/fsc/

2)For Andy Sparks or anyone else looking for a mailing list

You can "kill two birds with one stone" by using
a good autoresponder company to administer your mailings.

I like Aweber.com
They are a proven internet company that have been around for a while and
know just about all the ins & outs of the mailing list/autoresponder biz
Check 'em out at: http://www.aweber.com/features.htm?3403

3) For Julia and Wendy from issue 249
(inexpensive advertising)

One of the most effective  ways to advertise
for a reasonable price (about $20/mth.)
Is to join an FFA network. Not to post but to be posted to.
For the small monthly fee you can get your own FFA links page
hosted on their server. When ever someone posts to their network,
your FFA will automatically send out YOUR conformation email.

Of course that letter can contain anything you want to send.
Thousands of people post to those networks everyday
which means your conformation letter goes to
thousands of people every day automatically.
Not everyone will read it but a lot will.

BIG PLUS: you get to keep all the email addresses
from those who post. Just that is well worth the price
'cause the hardest thing to do in any marketing atmosphere,
is build a solid mailing list you can send offers to anytime.

Here's the best part - Once you've mastered
the FFA set up and the conformation email thingy,
you can get an autoresponder (plenty of free ones out there)
to send out 7,8 or even 10 letters automatically
at preset times (you decide).

When you get to that point, what you do is send
only a "teaser" letter as your FFA conformation and at
the bottom of that letter include your autoresponder
address "to get more information"

I know this sounds a little confusing but
anybody who can read and type can do this -
one step at a time. GOOD LUCK!
P.S. Here are a couple of FFA networks
you may want to check out
http://www.ffanet.com/pro.htm
http://www.multilinks.net/ffa.shtml?goto3

4) Here's a little time saver I just came up with.
To make web page building easier and faster.

Consider putting an "HTML cheats" Notepad file on your desktop.
When you see something cool on a web page,
just view the source code and "borrow" the code you want
by coping & pasting it to your HTML cheats file.
Here are a couple of my favorites.
NOTE: to copy from Netscape source view press ctrl-c

TO HIDE THE URL ON STATUS BAR
<A HREF="http://www.yoursite.com" onMouseOver="self.status='Write anything
you want in here!'; return true">A Cool Site</A>

To ad a little grey radio button
<form action="http://www.yoursite.com">
<input type="submit" value="what you want on the button"></form>

Hope this is of some help.
Just love this forum.

Hi

In my opinion, The tarnished image of MLM on internet is mainly
due to the public misbelieve that these are illegal pyramid schemes,
selfish, and abusive. The facts are they're not pyramids, can take
any shape, and not illegal , just as corporations. They are
even legal in Egypt where most pyramids are found!!!!.
All corporations have a pyramid structure ( is this illegal ?) .

In fact, I'm involved in MLM and my web site has MLM content.

You do have to Dream Big, PLAN, Focus
and 'work-your-plan' on the 'Net if you
wish to overcome those initial frustrations
in ANY business. MLM works if you Focus
and promote in a consistent, repetitive
way... choosing that ONE program to push
for about 30 days minimum.
I achieved this with Referralware:
http://www.referralware.com/page.jsp/4017130
which is quite easy to be successful in
because the system literally takes over
on auto-pilot with superb marketing and
follow-up techniques.
It is MLM, in that it uses a matrix to work
out your residual payments, but is often
promoted as a downline-builder (leads-
generator.)
If newbies quickly learn that FOCUS is KEY
on the 'Net, then they will do well with
any MLM program that is sound in what
it offers, is based on solid experience and
INTEGRITY.....  let's shout that word out!
(Judge it by your own highest standards
and by the Names involved in it.)

.....by consistently posting ads in News-
groups, Safe opt-in email lists, and PAID
classifieds (enhanced with bold type and
highlighting) like those offered by Adland
Pro and Optinclassifieds, and others. Test
your Headlines and try focussing on One
MLM program for at least 30 days....then
feedback your results to Adlands Digest.

Subject:HOW DO I MARKET & PROMOTE MY WEBSITE EFFECTIVELY!

Hi Julia,

I think your question is? ... HOW DO I MARKET & PROMOTE MY
WEBSITE EFFECTIVELY!

Like myself and many others when we started on the web,
we were lost.  I've been out there in Cyber Space for 4 years.
Even now at times it can be most frustrating. Don&#8217;t worry just
work the web the right way.

Ok the key to any effective web site is visitors, the traffic
you get.  Now without going into slow 'perhaps' effective ways
to promote, lets put your site into hyper drive.

So what are your best ways to promote this.  Here is one immediate way
that if successful can get you promoted in the press, radio and TV
nationally.  In this instance I would suggest sending off P.R. not only
to news but the other media outlets.

1. A press release.  Write email to your local areas papers.

The Subject Headline is important. You have a twist or angle to the PR
immediately.

DEFENCELESS WOMEN STARTS WEB DEFENCE SITE?

Story:-

All the how's, why's, what's where's and when's.  All in
about 500 to 900
words, that are spell checked and grammatically correct.

A disabled women today announced a new internet Defence Site.
Ms. Julia .............. who suffers from (if important) has set about
providing an easy to access Self Defence internet portal, especially
for women and the disabled to obtain special Self Defence products.

Julia said,"Being disabled myself I know the feeling of vulnerability.
When I formulated my internet site is was designed for easy accessibility for
people that may have mobility problems.  Naturally they easily gain access in
the comfort of their home and peruse (look) at what is on offer without being
bustled by sales staff.

(If you have experience in weaponry defence products, i.e.... ex police,
military
or gun club enthusiast list it here. This qualifies you as an expert in this
field).

(Now place one of the key points why vulnerable people need protection.)

Unfortunately in our modern society it seems that those most at risk of attack
from criminals and thugs that prey on people, are basically cowards.  If they
have a choice of beating up  or robbing a  muscular male or alittle old
lady in a wheel chair, who do you think they  will attack and rob.

(Ok research time... find out from police departments locally or nationally
victim of crime statistics.  Demographically Age, gender, disability?)

(Conclusion ... Now I guess a lot of people feel uneasy about taking a lethal
weapon with them.)
We have a large selections of self defence products including non lethal stun
guns etc...

Included I have provided places & resources for  FREE Publicity.

How to format a press release. http://www.xpresspress.com/PRnotes.html
Free Place to post P.R's Mega Submitter.

Of course there are heaps of other ways to effectively promote your site.
Over the years I have collected thousands of such web tools.

They can all be found in my  "The $ Spot" ; International Home Biz

BE CAREFUL - that is my best and most important advice.

There are a million sites out there that can give you a quick education
about making money online, some good, some shady, some down-right scary.
When I began in this business years ago, I was exactly where you are now.  I
began researching, and Work At Home Neoprene Resources is the product of
that research.  It contains only the highest quality resources, a Glossary,
business freebies, etc., and its a great place to start your research.
http://www.members.linkopp.com/biz/workathome/

Now I own three sites, the latest is on its way to being a network of many
sites.  I didn't make any money easily, I don't believe in it.  I work my
tail off, and much of that effort is research & study.  In fact, the above
site will save you a good year of thorough research by itself.

Congratulations on finding this particular bunch of Netpreneurs.  I have
learned MUCH from them, and I'm sure you will too.  Welcome to our world!

Take care,

Melody McKinnon

Hello Julia,

You are undergoing the growing pains that
everyone goes through when they dive
into the wacky world of cyberspace.

You did not give your URL.  If you would
post it or send me the link, I'll be happy to
take a look and, if necessary, make some
suggestions on how you might improve on it.

Unfortunately, free advertising will generally
fall under the category of "you get what you
pay for".  There are many low-cost methods
of advertising that will produce far better
results.

However, before you invest a penny in paid
for advertising, your site had best be poised
to grab the visitor and hold his/her attention.
If not, the money spent to advertise will be
wasted.

For the marketing questions visit
http://getbiz.tripod.com/BLASTER/.  It deals with
finding tools that work to give a newbie a jump start
before spending the bucks.  There are back end
features that can be requested, lessons on website
building, marketing, creating a mini-semi auto email
ad blaster for free, and more.

It's in the process of being build, any good tool that
works will be added, those not producing deleted.

It's a great site for a newbie as there are multiple
resources to build traffic and there are notes on the
site for that.  The site has lesson on how to better
manage safelists as well.  The lesson tell newbies
what to expect and how to save their inbox through
organizing the email client for the load.  Plus there's
tons of FREE lists and links to other lists of lists.

There are some new ways to build traffic(Hit Boosters)
like Read email to get traffic or send stamps to get
traffic and more.

Also, the FREEBanaza site is professional but it
didn't stand out to me as a different portal site.
It's crowed there so you need something to set you
apart from the others, maybe a different format, but
that's to much info for anything but a portal.  Maybe
something fun to catch your eye and have you come back
to the site.  If it's something good then after awhile
FREE Bonanza will become one of your major portal site
to visit.

Thank you,

Hello,

I'm amused that so many people expect to make money from "free" programs.
Think about it? Why would someone want to give you money  for nothing?
I have no proof but I firmly believe the majority of these programs are just
using you for free advertising  promoting their programs for nothing! How are
you supposed
to know if other people sign up from your  links and also if they upgrade or
whatever.
You get what you pay for and free is not the way to go in my opinion.

===========C o n t i n u i n g D i s c u s s i o n (4.1)=============
From:Rob Edgeloe
Subject:About FREE

Hi Bogdan and all readers.

There's been a lot of discussion in the Adland Digest
about using free web sites and various free traffic
methods.

There's also a constant call for help from readers who
are new or confused or battling.

So let's try to put it all in perspective.

Firstly ...

Do you ever notice that emails and posts from these
readers often consist of long paragraphs?

A very good starting point is to use lots of white
space in whatever is written.  Cramped and crowded
messages are easier to discard.

Web pages that are easier to read are much more likely
to be read.  Duh!

But it's overlooked by such a huge number of authors.

Secondly ...

Using "FREE" should be regarded largely as a learning
experience.

There may be the occasional idea that helps with
promotions, but so many of them are utterly useless.

Just look how useless FFA pages have become.  Any
banner exchanges get les than a quarter of the click
through rate that they got about three years ago.

At the moment, the Starter Page seems to be doing quite
well.  This will be short lived as people become very
tired of seeing the same unwanted garbage being thrown
at them day after day.

However, and I stress this is just for the short term,
you can get one level ahead by seeing the Free Traffic
Escalator at

http://zonpower.stormpages.com/escalator.html#t

One of the advantages of this is that it helps people
new to the Internet to get up and going with something
as quickly as possible.

It shows people where they can get a free site, but it
should only be used for this one program.

It also encourages people to look for programs they
can promote, such as something they'd like to become
an affiliate for.

Then it encourages you to use the traffic that you've
started to generate and direct it towards something
that will make you money.

And this money can be used to build a "real" site.

Free sites have a very limited use.  Many surfers will
turn right away because they perceive, rightly or
wrongly, that free sites don't have the quality to
provide the content they require.

And just as seriously, search engines often treat them
with disdain.

I'm willing to bet that two sites, identical except
that one has its own domain name while the other is a
free site, will rank differently on some engines, and
have different conversion rates for any sales.

Finally ...

Find what you REALLY want to do before you rush into
something less.

The vast majority of programs on the Internet
(including the one mentioned above) just want you to
copy whatever they are doing.  That's the basis of
nearly all MLM programs.

It's also the basis of many affiliate programs,
although the people who are the most successful
affiliates know better ... they know that they must
provide original and valuable content to substantiate
whatever it is that they're promoting.  They've
learned to pre-sell, rather than sell.

Incidentally, to learn about the most effective steps
in being an affiliate (of anything), get the free
five-day email course by sending a blank email to
tamspowerful@sitesell.net, but just read it and don't
follow through everything in detail.

If you are to be really successful with anything that
you do, on the Internet or off, you MUST be doing
something that you enjoy.  Otherwise, you won't have
the enthusiasm or passion to put into it.

Success is a state of mind, and you won't have the
right attitude unless you're doing something you want
to do.  There's a saying (or title of a book???):

Do what you love, and the money will follow.

There's a lot more of this in The Zonoz Club at

http://www.zonoz.com

So the bottom line is go for a free site while you're
looking for experience if you want to.

Use free traffic resources if it is beneficial to some
other program.

But long term success comes from finding what you
really want to do, and if this involves the Internet,
then get a quality site.  It will be so much cheaper in
the long run.

Have I got my own site?  Two of them!

Am I doing what I really want to do?  You betcha!

Cheers  :-)

Rob Edgeloe

Hi Wendy,

Subject:How to recover your website from BigStep

>On Adland Digest #249,Pauline Wendy Phillips
>One can save a BigStep or any other site by

Correct me if I am wrong.  The important question is
not with the technicality of transplanting one's
Bigstep website to any free or paid host by rather the
legality of doing it.

Bigstep's websites are built with templates provided
by the company and it seems that when someone signed
up for a free site in the past, the terms and
conditions state that he/she is not allowed to remove
the site from Bigstep and take them elsewhere.

People are now complaining about Bigstep since they
suddenly switch to paid service and give their clients
little option to salvage their sites.  However, even
when Bigstep was still a free service, it already had
a few glaring "tricks" that aimed to make money out of
their free hosting.  For example, the tools available
for site building restricted the users' tweaking of
their sites so much so that if the users plan to
optimize their sites for search engines' ranking, they
had to do it through Bigstep's service.  Also, if a
user wished to purchase a domain name for his/her
site, he/she could not go around shopping for cheap
domains sold by companies such as GoDaddy and would
have to stick to Bigstep's service.

Kelvin Koh

From:Andy Sparks
Subject:Results

Hi Bogdan;

I would like to share an experience with the Digest. We haven't talked much
about Going Platinum for some time and I am perfectly comfortable leaving the
subject alone, but the story involves their message board.

I am a frequent contributor to the Referral Discussion Area Board at Going
Platinum and people are constantly posting, they need help getting referrals or
How do I get sign-ups for Going Platinum. I have had good results from my banner
rotated at the top of Adland Pro, so, Tuesday evening, I decide to make them a
very good offer. I post to the board the benefits of joining Adland Pro as a
free affiliate and I explain that I would like to be ranked in the top thirty
affiliates at Adland Pro. I even sweetened the deal, I said that any one that
follows my affiliate link to Adland Pro
http://www.adlandpro.com/default.asp?rep=16277 and joins as an affiliate will
receive my Internet Marketing Success System FREE. I normally sell it for $7.97
US.

Now the point I am making is the results from this post. As of Thursday morning,
80 people have viewed my post and 5 have requested the URL. (You can't post
affiliate ID to this particular forum, so they had to email me for the URL.)
None have signed as an Adland Affiliate. So I received 6.25% response, but 0%
results. This is a board that I post to and answer questions on everyday.

I know you understand what I am talking about Bogdan, because there are about
7,900 Adland Affiliates and approximate 25,000 subscribers to the Digest. That
is about 31%. With your permission, I will make the same offer to the Digest.
Any subscriber that follows my link above and joins Adland Pro as a new
affiliate will receive Internet Marketing Success (AKA How to market a web site
on a shoe string budget and win) FREE. Click on
http://www.967andy.com/internet-marketing-success.html for details.

The moral of this story is, if you are new to Internet Marketing, don't get
discouraged. You have to kiss a lot of frogs to find the handsome prince. It is
strictly a numbers game. You make your best offer and keep plugging. Then you
make a little change and track the results. Keep improving yourself and your
offer and eventually, you will succeed.

I will get in the top thirty affiliates at Adland Pro, it will be easier with a
little help. I think I am #253 overall this morning.

Subject:Promoting Mortgage brokerage business

I just became a member of an online mortgage brokerage. They provide the site
for free and offer those who are searching for loans the opportunity to shop
for the best rates and apply online. It's a pretty good deal. Once folks
apply, real live loan officers work with them to secure the loan. My job is
to promote the website. I've paid to submit the site to over 300+ search
engines, but as everyone knows, it can take weeks or even months to get
listed. And even then there's no guarantee of being seen by a client. My
question: how do I promote it to drive folks to my site? I've also submitted a
classified ad on Yahoo and several other free sites. So far, no hits. I'd
appreciate the feedback. Thanks. BTW, great newsletter?

Subject:http://www.ValuDealz.com

There has been allot of articles on Free
Stuff going by the wayside.
I built my site all for free (I now have to
pay $9,95 for my site through BigStep but that's
okay)and I feel it is just fine for the small
business on a shoestring budget. One thing I do
know is this, after the $9.95 Bigstep charges me,
everything else is profit. I am not making
millions but that's okay. I have put allot of time
into my small business but it is all a labour of
love.
My goal is to let the average person buy
quality products at wholesale prices, and to let
anyone who want to start a small business of
their own have the ability to buy at a price they
can then turn around and sell for a profit.
I sure would love for your readers to check
it out and let me know what they think. Please be
honest so that I can make improvements. I value
the comments your readers give.

Cindy - when I've read your message I thought I'll never reach
a high level of profession as you did! A newbie feels
like I did, a pro feels it's another pro: nobody of
        them will buy your product!

I mean, both of you put too many text on the site.

Marketing's Greatest Enemy
ByJay Conrad Levinson

You work like crazy trying to attract attention and business,
operating from a marketing calendar, committing to your strategy
and doing everything right, resulting in an influx of customers
-- but you lose them. They never come back. You did your
marketing so well and marketed so wisely that you're almost in a
state of shock at how your customers ignore you.

You treated them well while you were making your business
transactions. You gave them a fair price, knew that the quality
you put into your offering matched the quality they got out of
it. You assured them that service is your middle name. You
smiled and used their name when you said good-bye, thanking them
for the sale. And then, after all that caring attention on your
part, they completely ignored you, never set foot in your
business again.

Do you want to know why they ignored you, why it was so easy for
them to put you out of their minds?

It's because you ignored them.  It's because you made the sale
and then made the grave but all-too-common error of thinking
that your marketing job was over. That was a terrible error. But
at least you've got a lot of company making the same terrible
error. Nearly 70 percent of business lost in America is lost due
to apathy after the sale. Apathy is the deadliest enemy of
marketing. A "love 'em and leave 'em" attitude is usually fatal
to profitability.

The opposite of apathy is follow-up. Guerrillas have a "love 'em
and love 'em" attitude, marketing to prospects like crazy till
the sale is made, then continuing to market like crazy to them
after the sale. Apathy never sets in. Customers never feel
ignored. Guerrillas do all in their power to intensify the
relationship with caring follow-up and loving attention. They
know that once they have established a relationship, their
product or service is no longer thought of as a commodity.
Businesses that offer commodities often lose customers due to
competitors offering lower prices. Businesses that form warm
relationships transcend being thought of as a commodity and
maintain their customer relationships with service and constant
contact.

No wonder they don't lose business so readily. People want
relationships, want the businesses they patronize to stay in
contact, want to feel cared for and not ignored. All guerrillas
know that their customer relationships are their most precious
assets. They know that if customers purchased from them one time
and had an enjoyable purchase experience, they are very likely
to buy from them again. And again and again. And to provide many
referrals over time.

To nourish these kind of lasting relationships, guerrillas send
thank-you notes after the sale -- within 48 hours. They contact
customers within a month of the sale to make certain they are
satisfied and have no questions. They get in touch with
customers once again three months after the sale, this time
suggesting new items that may tie-in with the original purchase.
And three months after that, they make another contact. This
kind of guerrilla follow-up not only prevents dreaded apathy
from setting in, but also increases business anywhere from 20%
to 300%. That's because customers, in their hearts, silently
hope for recognition, acknowledgment, information, advance
opportunities to purchase, and new calls to action.

Instead of the kind of apathy that loses customers forever,
constant attention and follow-up results in healthy back-end
sales. This means repeat sales, ancillary sales and referral
sales. And this means big profits to you -- because it costs six
times more to sell something to a new prospect than to sell that
same thing to an existing customer.

These days, all the true marketing experts ask you to calculate
the lifetime value of a customer. If you don't understand the
damaging effects of apathy after the sale, that lifetime value
is pretty small, probably a few hundred dollars, if that. If you
do all in your power to prevent apathy from ever setting it, the
lifetime value of each customer may be measured in hundreds of
thousands of dollars, maybe even more. You'll profit from the
initial sale, from the repeat sales, from the referral sales and
from the long, mutually beneficial relationship. It happens only
when you defeat the most deadly enemy of marketing. And now you
know how to do that.

=====================Joke of the Day   (1)===============

There was a little boy who had just learned to count on his
fingers. One day his uncle came to visit and the boy was
anxious to show off his newly acquired skill. He told the uncle
to ask him and addition question. So they uncle asked, "What
is three plus four?"

The little boy counts it out on his fingers and said, "Seven."

The uncle said, "Listen kid, you can't count it out on your
hands because someday when you are in school, a teacher
will get mad at you for it. Now put your hands in your
pockets."

So the little boy put his hands in his pockets and his uncle
asked,  "What is five plus five?"

The uncle saw movement in the boys pockets, then the boy
said, "Eleven."
