=================Response to  Jo mcNamara Success Story=====================
From:Elizabeth Bryan

Thanks Jo, for putting into words exactly how I feel about networking. I am 62
and have been retired for 12 years. I have always made things happen in my life
and never been bored but, since my partner passed away there has been a void in
my life and I have been running around helter-skelter trying to fill it.

I finally started to settle down when I moved into a small house with my two
cats in Feb 2000. I filled my time at the gym working out, doing aerobics,
puttering in the garden, dancing and working on my house. I was in a rut and
becoming bored with life even though I was very healthy and fit.

Network marketing discovered me at the end of October 2000 and I can't remember
when I have
been so excited and loved anything so much. I have been on a learning curve
since that time and feel I will always be learning. Some programs intimidate me
and they get put to one side because of the fear of making mistakes. Then, when
I resolve to tackle them and take one step at a time it is easier to accomplish
what is required. When I become comfortable with it, I invariably say, "Wow!
Everything is so easy when you know how!"

I gave up the gym for the summer until I organize my 4 areas of interest and try
to get things on auto pilot. (Will I ever?). I run outside for about 20 minutes
a day, watering the garden, cutting the grass and trying to keep the weeds down
so the neighbors don't complain. I dust and vacuum only when needed. It's my
cats that make the mess, not me for I am stuck in my little room with my
computer all day and night. I buy a lot of frozen food now and force myself to
stop for dinner each day at 4pm to watch 'Murder She Wrote'. Even then, it is
hard for me not to jump up during commercials and check my email. I have also
put on 'several' pounds from sitting at the computer and not being as active. I
gave up my boyfriend because I had no time for him. (Actually, I would have
given him up, anyway).

I had to replace my hard drive and have had 2 viruses recently. I have spent A
LOT of money not only
on my hardware and software but on the programs that I am involved in for
membership fees and leads and websites.

You know what? I love this and am happy networking. My little grey cells love
the learning process and I meet the nicest people. Oh, did I mention my phone
bill has gone up drastically with all the bells and whistles of 3-way calling,
etc. And those long-distance calls! Wow!

Seriously, I am giving this 2 years to see where I am at and if I am moving
ahead then I will give it 5 years. At the end of that time, I would hope I have
recovered my expenses and have started to make some money. I think I am being
realistic in not expecting to make a bundle overnight and not expecting to make
money with only "free" programs. Even if I only made expenses, I think I would
keep doing it because it really is a lot of fun! (Of course, I WILL get back to
the gym and get some order in my life very soon!)

Am I a success? You betcha!

Mr. Fiedur,

Thank you for publishing my article, "Successful Beyond Measure" in Adland
Digest yesterday.  My first published article!
I saw a few mistakes in it (to my utter humiliation), but I'll just take it
as a learning experience.

I had one publisher contact me for permission to reprint.  Another mistake
was not to put a Permission To Publish Line at the end.  Oh, well...

Thank you again.  You have helped me more than you will ever know.

Hello James,

Here are some proven methods to build your ezine list
fast...

1) Create an ebook and give it away. Make sure you have
something unique in it which people might want to give away
to their visitors.

2) Write articles. The quality of subscribers you get from
this method is the best, simply because they like what you
have written and are more likely to REALLY READ your
newsletters.

3) Give away freebies. This method still remains the most
effective way to get more subscribers.
See how I do it: http://www.raovishal.com/am/
Your newsletter content has to be really good to keep the
subscribed.

4) Pop-up/under windows. No matter how much bad publicity
these might get; one thing is for sure... THEY WORK!

5) Pay-for-subscriber service. One resource that I have used
and would recommend is Marty Foley's Opt-In List Builder:
http://www.raovishal.com/listbuilder
You can build you list really fast but the subscribers you
get may not be very targeted enough. Worth trying but.

6) Once you have developed a reasonably large subscriber
base (1000+), swap ads with other ezines to increase your
subscriber base significantly.

Cheers!

Hey James,

If you're looking for subscribers to your newsletter go here for free:
http://www.renewpublishers.villageoftidbits.com

For a lot of subscribers fast - I've received nearly 200 subscribers in less
than three weeks - for a nominal fee of $15.00 - but you'll get a check back
from them in a reverse matrix the following week for about double that - I've
gotten three checks thus far!  I joined for the subscribers, but the extra cash
is great!  Also, you'll get to submit an ad to promote your ezine to 100,000
subscribers.
http://www.world-inetstar.com/cgi-bin/view.cgi/rw6003/index.html

I don't know what you're intentions are for your ezine, but if you'd like to
earn some revenue from it, I can teach you how to sell ads in it through my free
ezine course and then even how to move onto big time, like I did to earn a
living from it!  This does start at the beginning and teaches you how to start
one, where to find content and so forth, but it also teaches you how to sell
ads.  Many have taken my course and are doing great.  Many well established
ezine publishers that couldn't sell their ad space at all, have taken my course
and selling ad space now!  If you're interested in that go here:
http://www.ezinetraining.villageoftidbits.com  I do offer you free, total
support!

James, I hope these give you a good boost to get you going!  :o)

Greetings to you Bogdan and all of your readers. In response to the
inquiry by James,
I suggest posting as many well written ads to
ezines that give FREE ADS. I am also a big
fan of Classified Ads. With a good, short, classified ad, James can get
new subscribers to
his Free Newsletter. The secret here is to have a short, concise, catchy
ad. Regular "herd" ads will not work very well. Newspapers have had
long, proven success with well written Classifieds. If James does not
have the time to
become proficient in his ad writing, as a newbie
netmarketer, he should look into affordable ad
copywriting services.

There are many ways you can promote your website here
are a few of them.

Participate in discussion groups, newsgroups and
forums
Offer something free at your site such as ebooks,
reports etc...
Submit your site to search engines and directories
Use a CGI script such as "Recommend It"
Submit your site to "Award Sites"
Trade links with other sites
Use Pay-Per-Click search engines and bid on words that
only cost you a few cents
Add your link to Resources center

This is just a small list of how you can promote your
site effectively. Promoting your site is an ongoing
thing and you should focus one part of your day to
just promote it.

Subject:HOW DO I MARKET & PROMOTE MY WEBSITE EFFECTIVELY!

Dear all,

Since Gerry Timm mentioned in issue #250 that one of
the best ways to advertise for a reasonable price is
to OWN (not post to) an FFA site, I thought I should
share my experience about owning an FFA site.

I used to be a member of TrafficWave and because
hundreds of newbies post to their network EVERYDAY,
TrafficWave automatically sent out my sales message to
these newbies.  This may all seem very rosy, but it
turned out that in the 2 months I was with
TrafficWave, only less than FIVE out of the thousands
who posted to my FFA site requested for my free
reports sent via the TrafficWave autoresponder.  I am
sure some of you may say that this is most probably
because my sales letter was poorly written.  Yet when
I logged into the SFI Dboard to check with other SFI
members (I am an SFI member) how they were doing with
their FFA sites, many said that they had the same poor
results as me.  The conclusion that I arrived by
visiting forums and asking questions is that people
who post to FFA sites use junk mailboxes to
receive those confirmation emails that contain our
sales messages.   In fact, a lot of the
posts to these FFA sites originate from mass
submission sites like Worldsubmmiter.com.
These sites offer their clients a free email account
each to receive FFA confirmations.  These free email
accounts are set up solely for the purpose of
posting to FFA pages and mass deleting the
confirmation messages that are generated.  Hence, my
humble opinion is that very few of the sale messages
that are sent as FFA confirmations survived to be
read.

This brings me to another issue.  Recently, I have
noticed the proliferation of ads selling the secrets
of the bigdogs and these ads claim that the bigdogs
can help one generate thousands of leads.  However,
from my understanding from a business associate who
bought the big dogs, the so-called leads are generated
by owning an FFA site.  If this is indeed the case,
then the value of these leads have to be questioned.
For those of you who are interested in the leads the
big dogs promise, please be very careful.

For advertising that works, try these sites:

http://www.linkcounter.com/go.php?linkid=159332

I hope the above helps. ;-)

I have read lots of discussions about site promotion and have yet to see
this way discussed.

Buying names and emails that another agency has collected specifically
for what you offer.

They do all the advertising and spend their money trying different ads,
etc.  All I do is pay for the information on the people that they find,
and they find some really good people.  The particular company I use
provides high quality leads for people who are looking for an MLM
business.

All information comes from people who have double opted in, so you don't
have to worry about spam complaints.

The leads have been so-so in the past, but in the last few months, they
have perfected their system and now they are really good.

During the month of August, September, and October they are providing
you with 50% more leads than you pay for.  The extra leads will have
names and emails only.  The normal leads have name address, phone
numbers, mlm experience level, and emails.

I would like to offer anyone on this list this special.  Join this
program under me sometime in the month of August and I will split my
quick pay commission that I receive with you 50-50.

That will be a minimum of $50 back to you and could be $200!

I wish you all the best.

Bogdan, I would like to comment on the private owned safelists that seem to be
popping up everywhere on the net. I recently put up a ranking script for the
owners and their owners to have a little fun with and help them advertise their
sites by sending traffic to the script.

These owners are honest hard working people that are changing the way safelists
work i.e. globe and egroups etc. deleting owners lists on a whim that they
worked so hard to get. The idea seems to be going over well with the owners and
the site is located @ http://leadpaging.com/ranking/rankit.shtml  The voting

Hello,
I have just read your latest news letter and I must say its very informative
Thanks peoples.
I have some things to say the first is the cost of the monthly ads $20 American
being Australian that's roughly $40 dollars au.far too expensive for me on my
budget ( I am on government assistance) and of course the bane of my life I do
not have a credit card and to pay any of these is nigh on impossible that puts
me on the free ads train.Don't ask to pay through paypal they want you to pay
with a credit card too.
I am signed up with an Australian hosting co which gives me all the goodies of a
professional web site, autoresponders, mailing lists the works.I am very new to
all this and I am feeling my way as I go.This company charges me $45 au that's
$22.50 American (rough guess)which for the service is cheap and they are very
good at assistance. And free domain registration is included. I will give you the
site address in the next e-mail ( I will get a discount for referring them,
greedy am I ?).
All I can say is I am frustrated at these freebie sites and get a million in
your letter box scams but I am persisting.
I was wondering if I could ask a favour could you people check out my domain?? I
would love some feed back good and bad ( I have a strong
back).http://www.goforrit.com

Another point I would like to ask I have 300 e-mail address I have saved from
friends and their friends if I send e-mails to them is it considered SPAM ??I
find this rather confusing.

The good:

Your site load time is very good.
You give multiple ways for the customer to contact you.
The layout of the links to your various products is good.
Offering a gift certificate for answering a survey is great.

I always start with a few good comments of what I like
about a site, but that isn't really what you want to hear
so now on to

The needs improvement:

Using the term drop shipping might be confusing to your
visitors so you should change that name.

A Banner from LinksToYou is probably a waste of space
because your looking for shoppers not webmasters.  If
you want to link to people link to other sellers because
the people who come to your site might not want what you
have and you can send them on to someone who does and that
works in the reverse also.

In the survey you have some open ended questions and you
don't give the customer the option of putting their own
answer by using other and having a comment area.

I'm not the best at search engine optimization but your
title tag is really bad.  The title tag is what will be
the subject line after doing a search and should be your
best reason for coming to visit you in about 6-12 words.
Your description tells people what YOU do not what you
can do for THEM.  People are selfish and they want to
know what visit9ing your site will do for them. Lastly
you have too many keywords so the relevancy of any one
is low in the search engines eye.

I just signed up for a program that is endorsed by some
very big internet marketers and is very inexpensive right
now.  The program helps you optimize your pages for the
search engine and you can find it at
http://search-engine-goldmine.com/  It really looks like
a good program and the price is said to be going up but
you can lock in the $19.95/mo for life right now.

I hope everything I've said helps you and all the best
in creating your future.

"Banners Do Bring Traffic!"

Banner advertising remains one of the most effective and
cost efficient manners of gaining targeted responses to
visit your web site.

To benefit from this form of online advertising you must
have a web page. It would also be preferable, though
not essential, if the traffic to your web page is already
established.

The reason is that banner exchange programs base the number
of times they display your banner on others web pages based
on how many times their banners are viewed on your web page.

And although a banner that belongs to someone else that
is then displayed on your web site is like an exit for your
visitor to leave, the positives far outweigh any
possible negatives.

Here are a few tips to improve your responses and increase
your visibility via banners:

1.
NEVER put a banner on your main entry page unless that
banner is yours! When that banner is clicked it will take
your visitor to another web page within your own site.

It takes a great deal of very hard work to build a steady
flow of traffic to your web site. After doing all that hard
work, does it not seem foolish to allow your visitor to leave
immediately? Especially if it is to someone else's web page?

If you must have a banner on your entry page, make it your
own banner that will take your visitor elsewhere within
your own web site. Or make it to another web site but one
that provides you with a commission.

2.
Feel free to put the banners on several web pages as
this will provide you with additional credits from your
banner service exchange choice.

3.
It is a good idea to put banners close to the top of
the web page because the banner will load faster
and thus insure that you get credit for its display.

4.
If you have access or the ability to write HTML code
on your web site, then make certain to include the
WIDTH="" HEIGHT="" BORDER="" numbers
as this allows images to load much faster.

And while you are at it, include the ALT="" tag with a
description of your banner that can then be viewed by
those running with graphics turned off or by
those, like the blind, that use text readers.

5.
Do you have access to the web page that comes up
within your own domain that shows whenever someone
types the wrong URL or if one of your pages is down
for updating?

You know the page I mean, the "Not Found 404" page
that displays by default.

If you have access, place a banner or two on this page and
increase your banner views immensely. The "Not Found 404"
web page is often one of the most viewed pages within a
given domain.

6.
Have a banner with "Animation". Studies prove that results
do increase by 26% or more over static banners. Most of the
banner exchange programs will accept them so long as you
keep within the total size limitations that they specify.

7.
Quick load time is a must. That is why most Banner Exchanges
hold their banners to a 7k maximum.  People don't want to
wait forever just to see what your banner has to written on it.

8.
Your goal is for the viewer to CLICK on the banner!  A
short one or two lines should be more than enough to
accomplish your goal.  Keep it simply but compelling.

9.
Studies prove that using the words "Click Here" work
better than banners with the same message but without
the call for the action of "Click Here".

10.
Name recognition is great if you have it to get folks
to click on a banner. But if you are like most people you
will do better if you stir their curiosity to get them to
come visit your not-so-well known business, etc.

11.
If your URL or email is short and easy to remember,
use it on the banner. Maybe they do not want to click
and visit just then but will jot down the info for a future
visit to your web site.

12.
Test Your Banners. If one banner message or design is not
performing then try another. Keep testing different lines
of text and color combinations till you find the right mix
for your individual situation.

13.
Remember, banners with a combination of action phrases, such
as Click Here, Submit, Press Here and graphic buttons to push
are known to result in greater response.

The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), located at:
http://www.iab.net/,  and member companies DoubleClick,
http://www.doubleclick.com/, and MSN, http://www.msn.com/,
released their individual studies on the effectiveness of
"branding" on the Internet at a press conference in New
York City,  on Wednesday, July 18, 2001.

Additionly, CNET Networks, http://wwwcnet.com/, released
information from a study done in conjunction with IntelliQuest,
http://www.intelliquest.com/, which also examined brand
effectiveness of online marketing.

Each study independently reinforces the fact that online
banner ads CAN BE used effectively for online branding.

And they confirmed that banner ads are best at 468x60.

So take advantage of these free resources to market and
promote your web site for free.  Because banners do
bring traffic to your web site.

=====================Joke of the Day   (1)===============

Two old Jewish men are strolling down the street one day
when they happen to walk by a Catholic church. They see a
big sign posted that says, "Convert to Catholicism and get
$10."

One of the Jewish men stops walking and stares at the sign.
His friend turns to him and says, "Murray, what's going on?"

"Abe," replies Murray, "I'm thinking of doing it."

Abe says, "What are you, crazy?"

Murray thinks for a minute and says, "Abe, I'm going to do it."

With that, Murray strides purposefully into the church and
comes out twenty minutes later with his head bowed.

"So," asks Abe, "did you get your ten dollars?"

Murray looks up at him and says, "Is that all you people think
of?"
