                                ----===(*)===-----

Just today I have designed new banner which I suspected might
have good results but  I didn't expect it to be that good.

The banner gets CTR about 8% after  several hours in  action.
Knowing how banners perform these days, it is very nice
surprise to see this high CTR.
Check them out here.

From:Rikie
Subject:How to get subscribers

Hi Bogdan and readers,
To Tammy,
In contrast to Judith who wrote last issue #256 I personally think ezine
publication is a great way to get contacts/leads as long as you have something
to say/share and are prepared to take comments from your subscribers.

I began writing an ezine myself just last June and now have in excess of 700
subscribers.  (Mostly through the assistance of World iNetStar and the
IstarZine.) http://www.world-inetstar.com/ematheson550

I was encouraged to put myself up for public scrutiny by reading such excellent
productions as Bogdan's Adland digest and others.
These publications started me thinking (some of us do you know) that I had
something to offer and there is a whole world of internet users who are not yet
aware of Bogdan's excellent publication.  I felt these poor unfortunates should
be offered an outlet for their questions and problems as well as their
advertisements.
So began my ezine, Rikie's Self Help Ezine, where subscribers are encouraged to
offer up their queries and websites for scrutiny of other readers and to put
forward their ideas on these or any subjects of interest.

As a member of World InetStar I was given all the encouragement and assistance I
required and also invited to join their list of member ezines which one can
advertise in for FREE when joining (also Free).

This was not meant to be an ad for my ezine, just a different perspective on the
reasons for beginning one. Sorry Bogdan if I got carried away,  after all it is
partially your fault for producing such a good publication that I started at
all!

To your continued success
Rikie

Hello my name is Mike Fisher,

I hail from New Zealand. This is in response to Denise,Nancy,Tammy and to
whomever else may be interested.I too have been advertising fruitlessly all over
the net the various programs I have joined.Having followed the usual methods:
freeads, ffa,etc etc. and ending up with my email box full of junk I was really
beginning to despair of ever becoming a successful netprenuer.Just recently I
came across something that revealed the ultimate means of reaching the most
responsive and the largest targeted market you could imagine. Now I'm not just
trying to sell something here, but sincerely believe that if this wont work
nothing will.To all you DHS'ers out there, you really do need this resource hope
it helps.

How To Get Traffic to Your Website
Submitted by Franklin Banker

In response to Bogdan's request, I wanted to contribute this short
article regarding my methods for getting traffic to my family of sites.
I will also comment on the "StartBlaze" system.

I have been a long time member of Adland's Affiliate Program, and
it has been successful in bringing highly "targeted traffic" to my
front page. I advertise my site with the free "top of the page" ad on
Adland, which gets exposure after I send website visitors to Adland.

I participate in many different programs to generate traffic. Many of
these (not all) are featured on a page I published which is at this url:
http://bblmedia.com/get_high_traffic.html

Regarding the "StartBlaze" program, I realized it might not return
effective targeted traffic, but I wanted to experiment with it anyway.
After displaying many different pages on StartBlaze, I have found
the best response is obtained by displaying "Free Classifieds" on
the system. The reason for this is that the vast majority of users
on StartBlaze are "Online Marketers", and at least for a few, the
Free Classifieds I list on my portal are useful for them.

StartBlaze also initiated the service with 2 contests offering free
additional exposures of my site for signing up new users, and I did
win 2 prizes of 10,000 exposures through those contests. At the
current time, I have approximately 16,000 exposures remaining on
StartBlaze from the contests, so I am listing Free Classifieds as
the site to be displayed.       http://bblmedia.com/classifieds.html

I do not list my affiliate url for the Adland Free Classifieds service
on StartBlaze. I only list my own portal sites and pages leading to
Free Classifieds or other services. I do not recommend listing any
affiliate url on this service, unless it is NOT in violation of the rules
of the affiliate program itself. Each one must be carefully checked
for compliance, as some will terminate you for using that method.

How about "Targeted Traffic"?  I use many methods, including the
following:  Geteway Pages, Mini-Sites, and Search Engines.

I have published a useful page for anyone starting out in the area of
"Affiliate Marketing". This page doesn't tell it all, but it does explain
with examples how I use Gateway Pages to generate traffic. I get
a sale for every 10 visitors (on average) from Gateway Pages which
I list on the major Free Search Engines.  Here is the url:
http://bblmedia.com/make_money_online.html

Some of my Gateway Pages generate substantial traffic and sales,
but for obvious reasons I will not list them here. Suffice to say that
they are very effective for me.  In order to insure traffic to a website
or a Gateway page, it is necessary to get it listed on the Search
Engine indexes that matter. One that is very effective is the recently
released service of VariSign(tm) called "Inktomi Search Submit". It is
a good service, and not only insures your listing gets in the AOL,
IWON, and MSN databases, but it also (in my experience) insures
more traffic to those pages by listing the page higher than normal in
the query results. After you pay the $30 yearly fee for the 1st url,
and $15 for subsequent urls, they create a redirect url for you in the
database which leads to your site.  I have purchased 10 url listings
through this service, and I will probably purchase more soon. I only
list Gateway Pages and Mini-Sites on this service, but you may use
it for listing your main site just as well, and it should work for you.
http://bblmedia.com/inktomi_search_submit.html

Finally, I must not forget to include "Reciprocal Links" as a way to
generate traffic. I recommend reciprocation very highly. I have my
front page listed on many hundreds of effective sites and directories
with whom I exchange links. In fact, I have so many such listings
that I had to create a special directory of my own to house them all.
I call it the "Web-Market Online Business Directory". It works much
better than a "Friends" or "Links" page for me due to volume. Here
is the url of the directory, in case any of you might be interested in
creating such a listing device for your website:
http://bblmedia.com/webmarket.html

I hope this information helps some Adlanders to have some idea of
how to generate new traffic to their sites. I don't know it all, but my
domain and family of sites are quite successful overall,  and I have
been online since March of 1997 using these, and other legitimate
techniques.  Write questions to me at  fbanker@bblmedia.com

I'd like to mention that the best way of testing and
tracking your advertising results is to use an
ad tracking program.

Tracking links can be also used in many other ways.
One example: include a tracking link in your signature

a posting.

You'll find another 20 ways at the site.

From:Valerie Tay
Subject:Advertising Advice

Hello everyone,

In issue #258, Paul mentioned that Startblaze is a good way to get free traffic
to his site.  The editor
however questioned the effectiveness of free traffic from start page programs
like Startblaze since according to him, the traffic doesn't bring results.

My position on this issue is somewhere between the two.  I got a lot of my
traffic from Startblaze and Nomorehits and I must say that the hits are really
not targeted and hits to sales conversion is low.  Nonetheless, I DO GET some
decent sales from these
traffic programs and seeing that the programs are free, it seems a pity to just
give them up.  In fact, I am able to generate 1 to 2 sales with each few hundred
click throughs from traffic programs.

My suggestion is that instead of you using the traffic programs alone, build a
downline with these programs, so that you earn credits for people in your
downline surfing.  That will add up your credits pretty fast.  Also, since there
are so many traffic p
rograms out there, instead of promoting each one of them, it is better to join a
network of programs and simply promote the network.  What this means is that if
there are 10 programs in the network, if you promote the network and get 1
signup, this 1 pers
on will join all 10 programs in your network.  This is certainly more productive
than promoting 10 different programs individually.

Thank you.

Best Regards,

are useful because they are not yet overloaded.Try posting your ad to these two

Subject:Free Advertising

Hello Terin,

You're looking for free advertising.  The most effective advertising is ezine
advertising, and you can find a lot of free advertising in ezines.

You can advertise in my own ezine for free to over 4600 subscribers {small
amount compared to Bodgans! :o)} http://www.villageoftidbits.com  click on
Subscribe Hereville to subscribe.  You can also find many other ezines that
offer free advertising by clicking on my Ezineville members page at the Village.

You can reach many ezines and over 130,000 readers of ezines through my Renew
for Two $ program - I circulate your ad to all the ezines for an entire month
which circulates your ad to over 130,000 readers - for only $8.00 - that's not
free - but that's a very minimal cost for the impact of ezine advertising.  You
can then renew each month if you like.

Hope this helps!

Subject:Ad Track Classified

Good morning!
I have an ad Track Classified site, and it is a wonderful tool for promoting
my business. The problem I think most people encounter is that they don't
get to utilize all of the potential the program has to offer. By this I
mean, that they keep their site as a free member, instead of upgrading. As a
paid member, you have so many more options for your ad campaign. Adding
banners to your site is, by far, the most useful tool, but by no means the
only one.
At the low cost of .27 per day, it's worth it to upgrade. I have gotten
hundreds of responses to my site (ATC), and even more to my business (Next
Wave).
I recommend getting into your ATC program and really studying all of the
tools it provides, and to make use of them all.

HAVE A SUCCESSFUL DAY!

Subject:Successful Yahoo Submission :-)

Hello Bogdan & Everyone,

I am very excited about this and I want to share it
with the rest of you.  Two weeks
ago, I decided to part with $299 to get my site
reviewed by Yahoo's editors.  However,
as all of you familiar with Yahoo's express submission
know, if the submitted site doesn't
meet up to Yahoo's standards, they will simply reject
the submission WITHOUT refunding
the $299 paid.  Therefore, I decided to shop around to
see if there is any "expert" who
can help me with the submission, so that the chances
of me losing $299 are lowered.
Towards this end, I took the advice of a friend who
"introduced" me to a search engine
specialist by the name of Sumantra Roy.  I was
instantly attracted to Roy's service because
he offers a money back guarantee.  Roy charges $199
for consultation and Yahoo charges $299
for the express submission service.  Thus, if someone
submits her site to Yahoo following
Roy's advice and did NOT get listed, Roy will REFUND
her all the money she has spent.  This
means that she will get both
the $199 paid to Roy and the $299 paid to Yahoo back.
With this information, I reckoned that
this was really a ZERO-risk investment, hence I went
ahead with the consultation and the
submission and within 7 days, I was in Yahoo!!!  Two
days later, I got my first 2 Yahoo orders.
I was very thrilled about this and I think you guys
may be interested to give Roy's service
a try.  You may be glad to know that Roy will first
review your site for FREE before telling
you whether he will accept your job offer.  This is
because if your site doesn't meet up to
Yahoo's standards, Roy won't stand a chance in getting
you listed, and he'll be wasting
his time and yours.  If you are interested to know
where you website stands, hop by Roy's Yahoo
Submission page to get a FREE review of your website.
Click on the link below and then the
hyperlink "Yahoo & You".

If you do a search for "ezine advertising" on Yahoo,
you will see that my site -
AdHomeBase.com - is listed on the 11th position on the
search results.  Click on the link below to verify
this:

Success on Foreign Search Engines Made Easy and Possible
ByDavid Gikandi

How do you quickly double your online income? Well, that's easy. Get
found by the 50 of the world that currently cannot possibly find
you. I can almost hear you say, "Did you just say that 50 of the
world cannot possibly find me?" Yes, and that is the saddest thing
but the greatest, simple to execute opportunity for many online
businesses

Let us start by seeing why half the world is in no position to find
you. After that, we will see how we can change that. Some quick
statistics and facts are in order here. These are the numbers and
facts that we will be using to formulate our strategy and win in
these foreign markets:

- According to some accounts, half the world's Internet users either
do not speak English, or they do speak it but prefer to search the
web in their own language. In either case, when they go to a search
engine, they type in their search terms in their language and not in
English. That is why they cannot find your web site - because the
keywords you use are not translated into their language. But
remember, they can read English or use translation software to
translate English sites. The only problem here is that they cannot
find your site. But if they did, they would be able to use it
somehow. We will look deeper into that later.

- They tend to use localized search engines that are able to index
words in their language.

- They use translation tools that are able to translate English web
pages to their language as they browse.

- Although the world has thousands of languages and dialects, 97 of
the world speaks just 24 languages! A quick visit to Oracle.com will
show you what these languages are. Oracle has a drop-down language
selector that covers them all. You can make your own simple instant
translator free at
http://www.rohitab.com/cgiscripts/translingo.html. Modifying it a
little would enable you to have a single drop down instant
translator that covers 30 languages. See http://www.FatSMS.com for
an example of how this has been done. If you wish to have one of
these on your site, see http://www.positionweaver.com/transguide/ for
more information.

- Because very few English site owners submit to non-English search
engines, and do so using appropriate content as we shall soon see,
you will be tapping into a very ripe, large and untapped market with
much less competition.

- Foreign language markets online are growing at a much faster rate
than English speaking ones as the Internet penetrates these
countries.

On a country-by-country level, here are some quick statistics and
facts to go by:

- In the Latin world, Brazil is the largest single market, speaking
Portuguese. Also keep in mind that roughly 1 out of every 9 people
in the USA are Spanish speakers. That is a huge market.

- The German market is very large, wealthy, and high-tech. It also
has a large proportion of bilingual users who primarily search and
browse in German but they are able to read English sites when they
do find them, without the use of any translation software.

- The French-speaking world is probably even larger than the German
one, with about 150 million people spread around the world in many
francophone countries.

- The Asian speaking market is phenomenal. Some researchers estimate
that by 2007, the dominant language on the Internet will be Chinese.
Even today, Asian users make up a big chunk of all online users.
Japan, the second largest economy in the world, is non-English
speaking.

To ignore these markets is simply crazy, yet most people do. But
that is understandable, given the fact that most people think it is
very difficult to penetrate them. I would like to show you how easy
it really is, something that I myself just learnt a couple of days
ago quite by accident.

Our goal is simple, and it is to get people to find our web site
when they search using words in their language that describe our
site. For example, say you had a web site that sold travel
reservations. Let us assume that most people find your site using
the search term 'cheap air tickets'. If your site were entirely in
English, then you would only get people searching using the term
'cheap air tickets'. You would never be found by Germans searching
for 'preiswerte Flugscheine', the German translation of that.
Remember, these Germans would have been able to read your site in
English or use their translation-capable browsers to read it, and
then order from you. The same goes for Italians searching for
'biglietti di aria poco costosi' or Spaniards that type in 'billetes
de avión baratos' into the search engine. But you could have sold to
any one of them, they were definitely looking for you and they would
have understood you.

Now that we have seen what the 'foreign terrain' looks like and how
accessible and exciting it really is, let us look at how to take our
web site abroad easily. This is a three-step process.

Step one is to get together all our keywords in English. Make a list
of all the words and phrases that people mostly use to find you on
search engines. Once you have this list, go to some free online
translation sites and translate your list into all the necessary
languages. You can translate them free using machine translation
services, although for better accuracy you would want to pay for
human translation. The site mentioned above has a free tool that
brings about 30 languages together. To start with, translate into
French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, and
Korean. There are free machine translators on the web for all these
languages.

Step two is to have these translated keywords on your site. There
are three ways of doing that:

The easiest and cheapest way is free. It is not as effective, but it
is far better than doing nothing. All you do is insert these
translated keywords into your site pages title tag (very important)
and Meta keywords and description tags, plus in the body text and
headlines of your pages. That alone is far better than having a 100
English site.

The other thing that you can do is still more effective. This is
making pages for each language. The cheapest way to do that is to
use these free machine translators online to translate each of your
web pages. That translation will not be too accurate but it is good
enough. Better accuracy is achievable through human translation
services. Once you have all your pages translated, be sure to link
them together from your home page. By the way, the instant
translators described above are great for giving speakers of a wide
variety of languages instant local language translations of your
site, but because these translate on the fly, they do not help in
your foreign search engine efforts. Only static built pages are
indexed.

The best effectiveness is obviously achieved if you can make a page
optimized for each keyword and for each language. These are
optimized doorways in each language and keyword - and their
effectiveness is just as great as the effectiveness of English
doorways. The easiest way to attack such a task is to use a
combination of the free translation services we have talked about
and doorway generation software such as the one at
www.PositionWeaver.com. What you would then need to do is to make up
a long paragraph text in English, translate that along with your
keywords, then plug them into PositionWeaver or similar software and
in minutes you have optimized pages in any language of your choice!

Step three in our strategy is to submit our new multilingual site to
not only the usual English search engines, but also to the foreign
search engines. Many of the big English engines have localized
editions and if they don't they still index foreign language pages.
The foreign engines also exist, although you may never have heard of
them. Do not assume that all Germans or Japanese, for example, use
Google, AltaVista and Hotbot like you do. They may never even have
heard of these, preferring to use their own engines. Do some
research into this to find out what each country or peoples use. You
can submit to these engines but of course because the users
primarily search in their language, a purely English site would be
totally lost in them. But luckily, now you know how not to be purely
English.

Well, then, my great explorer friend! Go out and conquer foreign
lands for your financial gain. I wish you great enjoyment in your
adventures! Adios!

=====================Joke of the Day   (1)===============

Stupid questions.

** How big is your 12", 14",16" pizza?
** How much is a 99 cent cheeseburger?
** This says Windows 95 or 98, does this mean it will only
work on computers made in 1995 or 1998?
** On the phone: "I got caught for shoplifting a year ago. Can
I come back and shop yet?"
** How can you legally sell buffalo wings, don't you know that
they are extinct?
