Greetings All

Welcome  220 new subscribers who joined list since last mailing.

                                     ----===(*)===-----

In recent two issues we are having discussion about  guaranteed click
thru programs.
In issue   #258
http://www.adlandpro.com/archives/258.htm
I was saying that guaranteed click thru programs are worth nothing
and participating in them is just waste of time.
I was hearing that programs like nomorehits or startblaze have
about 50,000 subscribers which proves how many people believe
just opposite or just hope  that receiving hits is a good thing.
In my business hits which are not targeted are considered as a headache.

Not only I get unnecessary traffic but  people who paid for advertising
on my site, lose their  paid impressions to visitors who never look at
the page which opened in their browser either through pop-up window
or  a page which showed up  when they started their browser.

To back up my views, I have included as today's article recent tip
in Jim Daniels newsletter where he explains to one of his subscriber
why  advertising didn't work from guaranteed click thru site.

                                      ----===(*)===-----

Don't forget to get your new version of MYSS 2002

and drive traffic to your site.
I highly recommend it.

Subject:Free Advertising

Hi Terin:
I have found that the best free advertising is in e-zines, but not
by just placing free ads like everyone else. I have had a good
deal of success by writing articles for e-zines. If you have any
kind of info to share, try writing an article and submitting it
to several e-zines. The publishers are always looking for new
material and they will give you a 5 to 6 line sig file at the end of
your article to promote your business. You don't necessarily
have to be an expert in anything--you can write articles about
your successes, failures, methods you use in your business,
motivational articles, etc. As long as they are original, you may
very well be published! Hope this helps, and good luck to you.

Subject:Free Advertising

Hello To Everyone..

I must admit that I gain much useful information from this publication,
especially from the Veterans that seem to answer all of the questions...

I have seen a common theme running thru the post as of late...It seems that
everyone is interested in the SAME thing...ADVERTISING...Some of us seem to
have luck with Startblaze or Nomorehits...While others have success with
Ezine ads or Solo ads...I am not sure what the proper answer is to these
questions, but I do know that your success depends in large part to the
program that you are promoting....

If you are using many marketing techniques and are having little
success...Take a LONG look at the Program that you are promoting...The
problem may not be with your advertising but lies in the program or products
that you are promoting....They may make sense to you but do they appeal to
the 99.95% of those that actually view your opportunity?

Remember that most Successful Network Marketers are not surfing the
Safelist, reading Solo ads sent to a "Garbage" email address, or starting up
their browsers 100 times a day...They are however, reading publications like
Adland and are building relationships with other Marketers or soon to be
marketers...BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ACTIVITY THAT YOU
CAN DO TO INCREASE YOUR CHANCES AT SUCCESS!!

My suggestion to all that are having difficulties with Advertising....Take a
look at your program...Does it appeal to those that are actually going to see
your offer?....If you are going to target a specific market with your
advertising...Make Sure you Target a Program or Product that is going to
appeal to them....In the meantime....BUILD RELATIONSHIPS FIRST...

Thanks for allowing us to use this forum to discuss such topics and to work
on BUILDING OUR RELATIONSHIPS...If anyone has more to add...FEEL FREE!!

From:Judith
Subject:How to get subscribers

Hi Bogdan and readers,
To Tammy,
In contrast to Judith who wrote last issue #256 I personally
think ezine publication is a great way to get contacts/leads as long as you
have something to say/share and are prepared to take comments from your
subscribers.
_______________
I'm sorry I gave the impression people should not write ezines.
If this is what turns your crank (makes you happy, then do it
:-)

What I was trying to point out to Tammy -- is this might not be
the best use of her time.  If she likes to write and has very
useful knowledge to impart, why limit this knowledge to a few
hundred subscribers?  By writing articles and submitting them
to lists for this purpose, sites where ezine publishers go to
get content, her article could help thousands.

I agree an ezine like this where posts are made by the
subscribers helps and one of the reasons I am a subscriber and
try to offer advice when I think I have something useful to
say.  But I also know when a large ezine like "WebProNews"
publishes one of my articles or a dozen smaller ezines publish
the same article, I am also helping.

My email reflects this with the thank you messages I receive
and usually they have a couple more questions I can help
answer.  So I am not against publishing an ezine -- I was
merely offering an alternative to "maximize" her helpfulness
and bring visitors to her site.

I firmly believe "sharing is the key to all our success" and my
website proves I back up this concept with the articles, free
ebooks and the four pages of links I have on it.

Ahhhhh - SPIDER!

That's why everyone is looking.  The graphic is well done and is fuzzy enough
not to be hostile.  The second one you just catch out of the corner of your eye.
Cute.  And, you get their attention.  Just that one second to penetrate the
brain.

Hi Bogdan,

In answer to your question about your banner,
I'd definitely go for the banner at:
http://www.adlandpro.com/adimages/3228.gif
Why?  It was the tarantula that disappeared the
fastest from my web screen!  I love spiders, but not
in front of my face!  Reminds me of the cockroach
ad on TV where I heard some people actually smashed
their TV thinking it was inside of their screen!  Eek.
Back to the wilds!

My only comment is a question...why is your banner a
non standard size ? Your oddball dimensions make
loading and rotating difficult. What is wrong with 468
X 60 ?

Note from Moderator.

Advertising is only effective if you  can make it look like
it is not advertising. People are more  prone to look at
something not realizing that it is meant to promote something.

Of course a banner is still a banner regardless of the size but
the less standard it is the greater are the chances that
somebody will click on it.  People build mental picture
of something which is associated with advertising and then
try to skip it without even thinking. If banner has different
size, it will at least force  visitor to the site to think for a
moment if this is advertising or not. These are  few seconds
in which you need to be able to communicate your message
or at least grab user's attention.

Hello Adlanders!

I know I'm late responding to this post but I've been quite sidetracked with
all the recent events and just now getting back to work and being able to
concentrate again.

This is a response to John Yarrow about HostSave.com.

I've been using HostSave for a year now and I have never had problems with
them.  On the contrary!  I just couldn't believe your experience with them.
The person I've talked to the most at HostSave was Kelley.  I have to admit
that she was wonderful in answering all my questions or forwarding them to
the right person to give me the information I needed.

The problems you encountered with HostSave totally baffle me!  And I soooooo
totally disagree with you since we've had such a different experience with
them.  I knew nothing about websites or hosting when I first contacted them.
They were really good at explaining to me in plain English what I was
getting myself into.  Even when I asked about domain name registration, they
told me about the DNS and how you needed to get that info from the registar
to host your site with a different company.  They told me which ones they
supported and which ones they didn't, they explained how domain name
registration worked, etc., etc., etc.  I could forward you some of the
correspondence I had with them, and you'd see how quick they were to respond
and how well written their emails were for a newbie like myself.  That's why
I chose them and I've been very very satisfied with HostSave and I have
nothing bad to say about them at all.  I strongly recommend them!

I guess it's like anything in life, some swear by one company while others
will have had a bad experience with them.  HostSave may have been slow two
years ago when you dealt with them.  If that's the case, they sure learned
in a hurry that customer service is what brings in customers and keeps them
because they excel at it today.

They have also proven to be a reliable host, I have never been unable to
access my site.  Oh and I've tried to catch them too, at all hours of the
day and night on just about every day of the week for the first few months
(amuse yourself, do what I did and load my site and see for yourself,
http://www.my-biz-world.com).  It's easy when you work from home without a
real schedule to adhere to.  Every time my site loaded just the way it was
supposed to.

I'm sorry about your problems with them, but I'm sure happy I chose HostSave
to host my website.  I won't change any time soon.  They are inexpensive and
excellent at what they do.  I don't get paid to recommend them, they don't
have an affiliate or MLM program. I just believe in them enough to promote
them of my own free will.

For those of you who missed it, HostSave has domain names for $20/year and
hosting costs $6.95 per month.  Watch for specials on set up fees, I got
mine at 75% off!  And THEY told me when the special was going to be so I
wouldn't have to pay full price!

Hi Bogdan and all Adlanders

I need help very fast and now do not know where and which way to turn. I am
totally obsess with radio and have a very, very good knowledge of the radio
industry from start to end.

Now this is where the BIG please for help comes in to play. I am based in South
Africa and to run sound streaming is: A) VERY, VERY costly. B) the percentage of
people that would listen to radio in South Africa is to SMALL.

I am looking for two things: 1) An ISP in the USA the can help. 2) Some one
(USA) with the same passion for radio as I have to help me. The cost to set-up
the radio station in South Africa for some one in the USA would be very low as
the SA Rand is 9 to 1 at this time.

PLEASE HELP. If I have to look at this project one more time and not get it
going, I may just as well drop dead. If you can help all my contact info is on
the site www.smart-fm.com

Thanks for the best Digest on the net.

Flushing Ad Money
ByJim Daniels

"Flushing Ad Money"
Three Questions You MUST ask Before Buying Advertising Online.

This week I received an email from an online marketer who
was eager to get her online business profitable. So she took
a leap of faith and spent $1500 on advertising. Not only was
it more than she could afford, she was stumped when she
received ZERO dollars in sales. Net loss: $1500.00

When she told me her heartbreaking tale all I could say was
that I'd wished she'd written to me BEFORE she laid out that
much money!

So I'm publishing today's piece to help others avoid the
same fate with their advertising dollars.

You see, the reason her campaign failed is so simple I'm
amazed that thousands of marketers do the same every month.

Before I go further, I'd like you to read her letter...

"Jim, I have a website that converts about one in every 200
visitors into a sale. While I'm working to improve that
conversion ratio, I am also buying advertising to get new
customers. I recently bought one of those "guaranteed
traffic" deals. For $1500 they promised me 100,000 visitors.
It sounded like a sure thing. But get this -- of the 15,000
visitors they've sent so far, not ONE single sale has been
generated. Jim, could they be faking this traffic somehow?
It's hard to believe they are sending real people to my
site! Do you have any idea what could be happening here?"

- Signed, Frustrated Marketer (name withheld)

My reply...

Dear Frustrated Marketer,

I can tell you exactly what is happening. And it is happening
to a lot of other unsuspecting marketers these days.

You bought "trick clicks". Sure, there are real people going
to your site. But not on purpose. The visitors that are
being sent to your site are arriving there by accident.
That's right, they are literally being "tricked" into
visiting your site.

There are lots of strategies being used to generate trick
clicks these days. One example is a simple "exit popup" or
"exit popunder". This trick spawns a new browser window with
an advertiser's site when a surfer exits a somewhat related
site. And what do folks do when the new site pops up? They
get aggravated and close the second window before the new
site even has a chance to fully load.

Sure, you're getting a guaranteed number of visitors to your
site, but you may as well be flushing your ad dollars right
down the toilet! Go ahead, open the lid, pour in your
monthly ad budget and flush it. You'll get just as many sales
(zero) but you won't have to worry about why! ;-)

OK, that may be a bit extreme, but I want to make a point...

Marketing dollars MUST be spent wisely. If you are not the
type to flush cash, and I don't know many people who are,
you need to do what I do when buying advertising... Ask a few
simple questions BEFORE laying out the cash.

Here are the three questions EVERY marketer needs to ask
before buying ANY advertising...

Question #1: Where will my visitors come from and exactly
how do they arrive at my site?

What you are looking for here is an answer that includes a
visitor ACTION. Something proactive. And something TARGETED.
When potential advertisers for my BizWeb eGazette newsletter
ask that question of me, I answer quite simply...

'People read my BizWeb eGazette for help with promoting
their small business online, and they click the URLs that
interest them. When they click the URL in your ad they go
directly to your site.'

Any email newsletter publisher would answer similarly. And
the answer fits the requirements. The visitor takes ACTION
when reading something TARGETED. That's exactly why I've
had such great results when buying email newsletter
sponsorships to promote my own products and services.

But when you ask question #1 of most advertising sites,
you'll either get NO reply at all, or an answer that should
send you running. Such as...

'We deliver clicks to your site through our network of
member sites.'

That's too vague!

Another answer I received recently...

'We utilize a variety of proprietary traffic generation
strategies.'

In other words, I can't tell you or you would not waste your
money with us!

Just remember, you want visitors to find you when they are
actively looking for something in particular. Not visitors
who are FORCED into your site, as some ad networks brag
about doing.

Question #2: How many visitors can I expect to receive?

Well, if you're buying a guaranteed number of visitors,
you'll know that answer. But you'll more than likely find
that buying a guaranteed number visitors is NOT the best way
to advertise online.

So you'll be using other advertising resources. And most of
them come with some doubt as to the results they will yield.

But you should always ASK what you can expect. When you have
an idea of the number of visitors, you will be able to
figure out if the ad might be profitable.

Here's a good example...

Let's say you are buying advertising in a targeted email
newsletter, or network of newsletters. Look at the total
subscriber count. When your ad runs, you can expect between
1/2 percent and 1 percent of the total subscriber base to
click your ad and visit your site.

Example: My BizWeb eGazette goes to about 100,000
subscribers. Each top sponsorship ad yields somewhere
between 500-1000 visitors. This tends to hold true in most
email newsletters with a decent readership. Even when I buy
advertising across a network of hundreds of ezines with
millions of subscribers, I usually receive a .5% click-
through rate. And those visitors result in serious profits
because they are targeted and they visit my site by their
own free will.

When you trying ANY online advertising strategy, the company
offering the advertising should be able to share expected
results with you before you spend your money. When in doubt,
ask for past advertiser testimonials so you can contact them
and get the inside scoop.

Question #3: Can you offer me a discount as a first time
advertiser?

I've found that more than 50% of the time, asking that
simple question will get you a lower rate. Yet hardly anyone
ever asks.

Don't consider yourself a cheapskate if you ask. Just think
of how much more traffic you can buy with all the money
you'll save. Always ask for a discount rate and you'll be
surprised at how often you'll get it!

In closing today's tip, if you plan to be successful online,
you need to advertise. But you need to go a step beyond
that. You need to spend your ad money wisely!

Do yourself a favor. Save the three questions above and ask
them next time, and every time you consider spending money
on advertising.

Or, you could just save time and flush...
