Having a good idea is already something but how to get the idea out and
survive the initial obstacles of new business is another thing.
Joel Chamish decided to provide the internet audience with an easy way
to give presents for the coming  holiday season. You don't need to
worry what to buy and how to deliver it to somebody who lives hundreds
of miles away.  You just pick the price and the gift certificate  is being sent
by email to the person receiving your present. No shipping fee, no packing
and what is probably the best, the person receiving your present can
pick it themselves from thousands of items.

*NO MORE UNWANTED  PRESENTS*.

Please read the below message from the Joel Charmish to see what I'm talking
about.
See this great idea in action and use it this week.
I'm curious how well this definitely fresh idea is going to develop.

Subject:Advertising Idea

Hi John:

I want to get straight to the point. You have
some good ideas and have recognized a valuable
resource (link exchange).

HOWEVER, your comments include these quotes:

"( I am basically lazy )" and "(did I say I was
cheap lol)".

These are fundamental qualities that will ensure
your FAILURE on the Internet.

Bogdan puts out a high quality ezine each week
with a large subscription base. I'm sure he will
confirm that it took a lot of HARD WORK to reach
this level of success.

Having said this it pays to WORK SMART as well
as work hard. You have recognized the inherent
value in the "StartBlaze" free traffic generator.
There are at least 50 similar such programs.

What you may not know is that a new SYSTEM has
emerged that coordinates under one roof many of
these programs and other related free advertising
programs (over 60 in all).

This system is commonly known as 10,000 Hits A Day
or MPAM. There are a couple of competing systems
such as Fat Cat Traffic and GrowFree, but 10,000
Hits A Day is far and away the best and it is FREE.

It can be found at:

http://reduce.to/10000hits

John, this program takes a SERIOUS effort to install
all 12 steps. I suggest you bookmark the site and
set a goal of completing 1 or 2 steps a day.

This system is designed over time to produce at least
10,000 hits a day to any websites or web pages you
desire, but there is no reason why your free traffic
can't reach 50,000-100,000 hits a day over time.

I know that many readers of Adland Digest have their
own newsletters. If any ezine owner could direct 10,000
hits a day to their subscription page, their subscription
base would grow dramatically.

By the way, this valuable FREE program can be recommended
to ezine subscribers with great benefit to the ezine
owners.

My suggestion to all ezine editors is to create a sign up
page expressly for the free traffic generators and offer
some FREE bonuses as an incentive to new subscribers. I
offer two FREE bonuses to my Tax Torpedo ezine subscribers.

John, no one will want to exchange links with you if you
do not have substantial traffic (make sense?). So
installing a FREE system to generate substantial traffic
will make your site a desired candidate for a link exchange.

Hope this info helps.

Robert Kearse

In reply to John about ViralVisiters.I had used StartBlaze, but never had much
success,I found it hard to follow, getting into ones members area was not as
straight forward as ViralVisiters.
John I think you will find they are basically similar, both open in your
browser both require site views to earn credits. To use one of these programs
requires click throughs to work,if everybody ignored others sites then its all a
complete waste of time.
I cannot give you any stats on my success with V V,but I am getting more
hits than ever for my website.I think a few digesters have signed up but not
sure if any are active yet.
I signed up for Auto Hits under Debra,it is quite neat, but if I dont look at
it and leave it running in the background then I can only assume everybody else
is doing the same.So who gets to see my site?Anyway thanks Debra.
So John at the end of the day it probably does'nt make much difference which
one you use I just wish there was ONLY one.

Hello Amanda,

A simple suggestion for reducing the "reverse"
sellers contacting you (ummm, let's call it spam!).
Before you advertise your business opportunity, get
yourself an autoresponder.  Search Google for "free
autoresponder" and you should have about a
ga-zillion to choose from!

PS Did you notice when you read your Adland that
your lines were all humpty-dumpty, some short lines,
some long?  If you want to razzle and dazzle everyone,
copy your text and run it through the free formatter at
JB McKee's site:   (oh, and it's fun)

Great for newsletters, correspondence and it even
has a filter for getting rid of those little nuisance,
">>>>>'s" at the beginning of reply sentences!

Quick and effective solution to your problem.
Quit advertising in classifieds because people
harvest email addresses from classifieds. Instead
advertise in quality ezines or professional
publications like this one. More expensive, but
you won't get near the spam, and will get better
results.

Hi Amanda,

Although it is impossible to avoid "getting a deluge of spam in response"
to our classified ads we can minimize it if we use a free email  account
to post with our ads.

I always use a Yahoo! free email account with my posts which has
filters to block any messages with specific works in the subject or
in their body. We have also the possibility to block any email addresses
(some spammers include us in their mailing list).

All the best,

Amanda Demers asked about sick of being spammed.
My question is: where do you advertise? I advertise in safelists mostly and
receive very few counter-ads. If I receive one and get very upset about it (we
all have our days!) I just write back that it is against the safelist's policy,
get it off my chest .. and this is not as bad as it sounds. Read this ... my
fellow business partner Tore - a former salesperson - he actually gets leads by
answering those mails - I admit, he is able to sell sand in Sahara - maybe you
can too...
I also advertise in e-zines and again receive very little ads back. So maybe you
should think about using 'safe advertising' only or have a well written 'counter
sales letter' ready.
Yours in success

Hello Amanda,

there is a very easy solution to your problem : You can set filters
in your e-mail program . If you use Outlook for example, you can
apply certain rules to incoming e-mail. Use a special e-mail
address for your FFA and classified ad submissions and let your
e-mail filter sort out those unwanted messages into a special folder
called "spam" or something similar. This would be a folder within
your inbox.

Hi Amanda,

I had the same problem, and I think many others have it too. My solution is not
perfect, but it makes the 'spam problem' a little bit easier (for me). But first
of all, if you try to get new business by email, my solution might not be
suitable for you. It makes sense only, if you advertise your URL in your ads.

I use in ads an extra e-mail address (free e-mail account I use in ads only). I
never pick up the mails in this account by my mail program. Every 3 or 4 days I
log in over the web, view the subject lines only, mark all these "opportunities
mails" - and delete them with one click. That's it.

Hi Amanda,

Unfortunately you will always get spammed after you've sent
your ads out.

The best way I find to get to those messages that are from
genuine people is to set up your mail filters.

In my ads I put an email link like this:-
mailto:neil@forfreedom.ws?subject=MORE_INFO

Then I just set my filters to put all the emails that have
MORE INFO in the subject line into a separate folder and
just delete all the spam.

This is also a good way of tracking ads, i.e:-
mailto:neil@forfreedom.ws?subject=MORE_INFO_Ad1
or
mailto:neil@forfreedom.ws?subject=MORE_INFO_Adland

Hope this helps

Hello all,

This is the second time I've post to digest
this year, so be kind..

As there are so many experts out there, I wonder
any can offer advice on a killer OPT in letter.
Display facts in bullet form and spoken in way
people will check it out.
I've spent alot of work on the basic site since feb
where I lost my job and have been mucking about
the net and thought I cold make a MALL system
linking to some free promotion,

points for promotion
1) 40% affiliate commissions to associates per sale
2) FREE Text AD posting for 1 week
3) Banner advertising with true click thru not impression
based or startpages
4) as low as $6.50 for 200 visitors and a MALL listing

my site: http://www.artbiz2000.com

of course 1 & 2 are better promoted differently... the
webmasters trying to get a slice in sales and
of course the free visitors to site look at other stuff
(people promotions with us).. all are important to have.

the site is 10 months old now.. 45,000 real visitors
so far isn't too bad.. I say it must take a few years
like adlandpro to be recognised.

Cheers
Paul.

My breaking into php as a beginner allows me now to
have a fully interactive and functional site with
article(news) submission, polls, comments, searchable

with content fed from Mysql.

Moving me a way from the static to the dynamic.
Something I have always wanted for my visitors.

Granted it is a PHP package but one must be able to
set up install the base code and also build and set up
the data bases. Lots of work for a newbie like me in
PHP.

Thanks to the nuke project that is php under the
public GNU. I wonder how others would like the site.
Also more in the area of functionality than look. Even
though the are many additional themes that can be used
to change the look and layout of the site. Actually
two separate data bases running on the same domain.
Create two different sites.

From:Terry Schroeder
Subject:http://www.freeadvertising.ws

Hi, Bogdan, this is one terrific newsletter!
I thought I'd give my two cents worth about Neil
Bennett's newsletter sign-ups(or lack of). Neil, I've
seen your site on the net, and if I could offer just
bit of advice, it seems that your newsletter is just a
little unfocused. In other words, what is the main
selling point of this newsletter? What type of
programs do you promote? Do you focus on new programs,
MLM, safelists, or all or none of the above?

Whatever the focus is, I think that maybe you need to
communicate that a little more clearly to the
prospective sign up. I've found that any benefits to
the prospect should be clearly TRUMPETED on the site,
and show them in clear terms what great things are in
store for them(real OR slightly exaggerated ;).
Otherwise it looks as if you are only posting links
for your own benefit, no matter what the benefits to
the newsletter recipient are.

I run the AlertMe newsletter from the Cash-Now
Network(http://cnn-home.com), and believe me I've had
similar problems. But since I've made free safelists
and NEW traffic programs the main focus, my sign up
rate has increased dramatically, and --this was
important to me-- cancellations have been virtually
nil.

Also, maybe you could try to come up with something of
value to give away. No matter how jaded people are,
they just cannot resist the word FREE. I give away an
e-book collection that I add to occasionally, and
marketing reports, as well as try to keep on top of
any free safelists out there -- and send them to my
subscribers, naturally. Also any good FREE software
that I like, I try to pass along as well. I just try
to communicate helpfulness and always point out what a
great deal they are getting(after all, it's FREE! ;).

In closing, please take this as constructive
criticism, I merely wanted to show you(and others)
what has worked for me in the past. Thank you for your
time! Sincerely, Terry Schroeder, Cash-Now Network

Also I'd have a professional or a friend go over

Neil,
Firstly, I think many people will click away on your pop-up then forget
about where they clicked from hence missing your quite good site
altogether !
Secondly, PLEASE capitalise "i" when you mean "I" as that annoys
the hell out of me, and I imagine, by far the majority of surfers.
Thirdly, I thinks "no more than one Free Advertising Alerter a day"
is maybe 3 times too many and could almost be considered SPAM
even though it's obviously not. I think 2 or at the very most 3 issues
a week would be much better and I would subscribe if that changed.
Hope this helps,
Andy from Sydney.

=====================G u e s t   A r t i c l e   (1)===============
Test, Test and Re-Test
ByBob Osgoodby

She got a POP3 e-mail address with each of her Web sites, so she uses those. She
also uses a different e-mail address on her Web sites. Most Web space providers
give you unlimited e-mail aliases. She then installed the Eudora e-mail package
with a different folder for each address she uses. When she gets an e-mail,
which was sent to one of those addresses, she has Eudora automatically file it
in the appropriate folder, and send an immediate response. This lets her
prospect know she got the message, but more importantly, allows her to track
which ad it came from. If the e-mail address was one of the addresses in her
ads, she knows which one. If it came from one of the Web sites, she knows which
ad sent the prospect to that site.

But what has happened here? A quick count of the e-mails in each of the folders
reveals which ad is pulling, and where the prospect is coming from. Remember the
unlimited aliases, she got with her Web space? If she is going to try to test
the effectiveness of several publications, she simply uses a different alias
for that ad in each publication, and sets up a separate folder in Eudora for it.
Many put up an ad with no idea as to whether it will produce or not. They let
the same ad run for a period of time, and wonder why they didn't get results.
Then they do one of two things: they either blame the publication for not
generating business for t hem, or give up entirely and go out of business.
Others will run an ad once, and when the world doesn't beat a path to their
door, they react the same way.

It is a proven fact that an ad must be seen five to seven times before someone
can be expected to take action. If your ad is targeted to your market, and you
are not getting responses, the odds are you have a "crummy ad." It is not then
time to quit or blame the publication. It is time to change the ad.

All successful marketers have one thing in common. They are constantly testing
the effectiveness of their ads. One of the most successful that I know almost
always runs more than one ad in the same or similar publication at the same
time. You could put t he ads side by side, and not realize they were from the
same person for the same thing. She lets each ad run five times, always keeping
careful track of the drawing power of the ads, and keeps the strongest and
changes the weakest.

Mechanically, her method is really quite simple. She uses a different e-mail
address in each ad, and a different Web site address as well. Both Web sites are
exactly the same, but have different URLs. She got her Web sites from a low-cost
Web space provider where she not only reserved the name of her site, but got
Web space as well for less than the cost of her ads. There are several low-cost
Web space providers. I can recommend bitshack.com and esosoft.com. You should go
with one that meets your needs at the best price. Don't fall for the "hoopla"
that you get "jillions" of characters of online storage for a few bucks more.
You don't need all that room. I have dozens of Web sites, and they are all under
10MB of storage. Capabilities being equal, price is boss.

We could all take a lesson from children. As they are growing up, and learning
right from wrong, they are constantly testing to see what they can do, and what
is not acceptable.
I see hundreds of ads everyday on the Web, and while there are some good ones,
most fall into the "ho-hum" variety, and some are downright awful. Now this
isn't bad, if they are testing to see what is going to work, and what isn't.
This successful marketer uses a popular ISP, but doesn't use that address in her
ads. She feels, and I agree, that an ISP e-mail address does not conjure up a
strong "business image." Your choice of an ISP is important if you hope to do
business on the Web. Be sure yours provides an industry standard POP3 e-mail
capability. While AOL is great for many things, it does use their own
proprietary e-mail system, and isn't, in my judgement, the best choice for
running a business.
There are other ways of course to track the ads by forcing the subject in your
e-mail address, and having a different subject for each ad. The cost of Web
space, however, and e-mail addresses has come down so much in the last few
years, that having separate e-mail addresses is most likely the easiest way to
track the results of your ads, and present a professional image.
You must test, test, and retest your ads. If you do, you will find the winning
combination, and realize the power of the Web.

=====================Joke of the Day   (1)===============

A man was complaining: Oh Lord, please have mercy on me, I work so
hard, meantime my wife stays at home. I would give anything if you
would grant me one wish, "switch me into my wife". She's got it easy
at home. I want to each her a lesson of how tough a man's life is.
As God was listening he  felt sorry for this soul and granted his wish.

Next morning the "new woman" wakes up at dawn, makes lunch boxes,
prepares  breakfast, wakes up the kids for school, puts a load of clothes
in the washer, takes the meat out of the freezer, drives the kids to school,
on his way back stops at the gas station, cashes a check, pays the
electricity and phone bills, picks up some clothes from the cleansers,
and hen quickly goes to the market. It was 1:00 already, he made the
beds, took the clothes out of the washer and put another load in. He
vacuumed the house, made some rice, went to pick up the kids from
school, and had an argument with the kids. As soon as he got home he
fed the kids, washed the dirty dishes, he hung the damp clothes he had
washed on the chairs because it was raining outside, he helped the kids
with their homework, watched some TV while he ironed some clothes,
prepared dinner, he gave the kids a bath and put them to sleep. At 9:00
o'clock he was so tired and he went to bed. Of course there was some
more duties, like the mattress mambo, and somehow he managed to get
that done and finally fell asleep.
The next morning he prays to God once again: "Oh Lord, what was I
thinking when I asked you to grant my wish"? I can't take it anymore,
I beg you please switch me back to myself, please oh please."

Then he heard God's voice speaking to him, saying: "Dear son, of course
I'll switch you back to yourself but there's one minor detail, you will
have to wait 9 months because last night you got pregnant.
