Unsolicited Testimonials.

1.--------------------
To who it may concern,

I do not know anything your "page" link refers to, and I don't not know
about copying or pasting.  But I want you all to know at AdlandPro that
I am extremely grateful of your source for my free ads.

Thank you very much.

Respectfully,

Ross W. Reyman, Jr. writes this to his subscribers.

Adland has changed.

When I started 4 years ago, Adland Pro of Winnipeg, Canada was one of the first
places that I made some money at even though it was small. However, I found that
Bogdan the owner was a very helpful person and that Adland was a good media to
test ads, so I stayed with them.

Now I am receiving hits and notification of sales almost daily. The monthly
checks are nice, too.

The reason is that Adland has a new system that allows hourly renewal of your
ads. I am receiving reports that some persons are receiving as much as 120 hits
per month using the new system. I am receiving 2 to 5 hits daily. You can still
have free ads if you like. The new system is just $5 per month. Where can you
buy up to 120 hits for $5?
In addition due to New Year's special, your ad will be submitted for
free to 300,000 directories plus you get 200 free impressions on top
of Adland pages.

If you want to check it out, see at
https://www.adlandpro.com/secure/FreeAdPromo.asp?ref=6039

THANKS

ROSS

Hi Bogdan,

I have a review request of my own. I have a new website at:
http://www.PleaseBeMine.com and wou ld like to see some comments about it. I am
most concerned with the DHTML that I am using to move the title graphic from the
bottom right to the top left upon page load of the home page. As well, if the
rollovers work ok and if the screen size forces anyo ne to scroll to the right
to view any of the pages.

Content is growing, but I am more concerned about the appearance right now.
Thanks to all that comment.

Subject:Paypal Discussion

Hello fellow Adlanders,

I have never commented in the year or so I have subscribed to
this great digest but feel strong about this issue so...

I have been using PayPal for well over a year and have not had
one iota of trouble. I use my Paypal card to buy groceries, gas,
etc. which offsets some of the cost of online transactions.

I do have one complaint about Paypal though. They have gotten
too greedy. They already make the daily interest on the millions
of dollars sitting in Paypal accounts but continue to jack up
the cost per transaction. They should have been satisfied with
the interest alone.  This really ads up with approx. 200 paypal
transactions a month.

Just my humble opinion,
George Cooper

I have used PayPal for over a year. I have also read many of the *PayPal* hate
pages.
Everyone who complained about PayPal from what I read, were people who clicked
to buy something, for instance on ebay, and then the auction was a scam, and
they never got their item or money back. That is not PayPal's fault, if you sent
that place a check or money order or other form of payment, I am sure you still
wouldn't get it back. I have NEVER had any problem using PayPal, and find it a
most convenient way to accept credit cards easily and quickly. For people
without  a merchant account it is great, or who cannot afford the merchant
account fees as of yet, and then even when you get bigger and better, and get a
merchant account, I have found by offering both options, many people still pay
me by PayPal, as it is so well known.

Subject:Paypal Discussion

PayPal is a great and efficient service.  If you are having troubles
with their service or they are holding funds, then you need to look at
the service or products you provide.  If you are involved with Auctions
or services that are questionable, you will get more chargebacks on
PayPal and there isn't much you can do since the customer never signed
for the transaction.  Best deterrent is to issue refunds promptly if
something goes wrong, deliver what you promise, only accept payments
with verified addresses, don't take large payments via PayPal from
people you don't have a prior relationship with, and communicate with
the person on the other end.

I have used PayPal for a few years and watched it grow and change.
Infact, I process literally thousands of transactions for customers that
use our free e-commerce websites and stores - no annoying banners or
pop-ups either -  or our free shopping cart that supports paypal,
agorapay, authorize.net, itransact, payflow, intellipay, psigate, and
several others.  We even use PayPal on our large logo site which entails
a lot of customer interaction to ensure success with their logo.

Anyway, I'm am just another testimonial that PayPal is a great service
that no one else comes close to ... not even the cash card stuff I am
seeing lately.  In fact they ... the cash cards ... are not very
friendly to folks like us cause they just want to develop proprietary
technology - shopping carts -  and not let anyone else interface with
them.  So I'll take PayPal anyday.

Subject:Paypal Discussion

I've been using PayPal for a year and always thought they are best. Until two
months ago.
I purchased a guaranteed visitors traffic package from a seller
( through an ezine article of a publisher who claimed they have
had good result with seller's service ). I paid them through Paypal..
Since the day I paid for the service, day after day I had to email
them asked when and why they didn't send me any visitors.
Their reply was this SHORT : " we forwarded your email to our tech.
or " it will be soon". After 3 weeks, I asked them  for a refund.
Now their answer was" we forwarded your request to our billing department".
Waited for a week, didn't hear anything from them, I emailed " billing
department",
now the answer was " the owner is on vacation,  can not issue a refund without
his signature".
Ten more days passed, I emailed them again, this time was" You Must contact
Paypal for the refund".
Ofcourse I was so angry ( am still ),  just wanted to get rid of this horrible
seller/service
so I logged into Paypal, and FOUND OUT that Paypal won't help because my
purchase
was more than 30 days old!!! I copy the receipt of my payment, sent to seller,
told them about
Paypal 'rule and that they must give me the refund not Paypal. Here is their
reply
"PAY PAL WILL NOT GIVE US THE ITEMIZATION OF THE MONEY WE WITHDREW, THUS WE
DO NOT KNOW IF THEY STILL HAVE YOUR MONEY SITTING THERE OR WHETHER WE
TRANSFERRED YOURS.  WE CANNOT GIVE REFUND IF WE DID NOT RECEIVE THE MONEY.
I ACKNOWLEDGE YOU PAID PAY PAL....BUT PAY PAL STILL HAS CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT
OF OUR MONEY AND WILL NOT RELEASE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS"

Again, I wrote to Paypal Customer Services, forwarded the above email. But,  it
was VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!
They just told me the same thing that my purchase was more than 30 days old and
that they can't help and that that I SHOULD CONTACT SELLER!!!!
Today- 23/2/02- I have sent atleast 25 requests to seller, and 5 to PayPal- Both
they just "pass" me  around from here to there.

Here are some websites about PayPal service I have just found:

I have been following the remarks about PayPal in the digest
and would like to put in my 2 cents worth.

PayPal does not condone payments to MLM programs and
especially all of those "fill your PayPal account with $5.00
over and over." scams. (especially if the programs do not have
a legitimate product offered.)

The cry-babies about PayPal are those individuals that have
been using these types of programs listed above and have lost
their accounts and money because they are too ignorant to
read PayPal's TOS agreement.

If you run and honest, legitimate, business or offer quality
products and services you should never have to worry about
losing your PayPal account or having your 'account "frozen".

Subject:Paypal Discussion

I haven't had any problems with PayPal myself, at least not directly; I do offer
it as one of the payment methods directly from my shopping cart, and sometimes
customers select it as a method but do not complete the transfer of funds. So
the result is that I get an order notification indicating that PayPal was the
payment method used, but no funds were placed in my account. So I then must
contact the customer and ask them to either complete the funds transfer so I can
process the order, or advise me as to whether I should cancel their order
altogether. This takes lots of time, but it's not PayPal's fault.

For those seeking an alternative to PayPal, consider c2it (www.c2it.com). It's a
CitiBank product, which lends a bit more legitimacy to it, and seems to work
along the same lines as PayPal although it's not as plugged in to ecommerce
applications as PayPal is. I enrolled, but haven't used it as of yet. Anyone
else had any experience with c2it?

From:Marty Mitchell
Subject:Paypal Discussion

Hello Bogdan,

I have used PayPal for almost three years, and have never had a problem with
them.  When I started my first site,  PayPal was my only method of accepting
credit card payments.  Of course as  my site grew I realized that I needed
to find additional ways to accept CC payments,  which for me turned out to
be ProPay.

I would imagine that PayPal is most effective for "collectibles" types of
sites.  The reason I say this is because PayPal really got started in web
auction sites like Ebay, Yahoo, etc. and became the mega-player that they
are today because of this.  These auction sites are almost exclusively based
on "collectibles" of some sort.

For someone that sells sports cards, antiques, or like myself - coins,
probably most of their web site visitors are already PayPal users.  Whereas,
if someone is selling "office supplies", for example,  the percentage of
their visitors that are already using PayPal would probably be considerably
lower.

I have nothing but praise for PayPal.  I will always use their service as an
option on my sites.  But it may not be equally useful on all types of web
sites.  If you have PayPal as an option on your site,  but hardly anyone
ever uses it,  it's not because PayPal isn't a good service, it's probably
because your visitors are not from a "collectibles" background.

Thanks,

Marty Mitchell

Dear Adland;
I wholeheartedly agree with those folks who hate
popups and popunders. Whoever thought this was
effective advertising?  It only annoys the heck out of me and I refuse to do
business from a website that employs them! Isn't that the antithesis of
advertising?
I've been in different business over the years, and feel that it's best to have
a business that offers real products, products that you can wholeheartedly
believe in, and a business that can prosper on or offline.

It is annoying!!!  In fact we won't accept affiliates or advertisers on
most of our sites (over 80 company owned) that abuse this practice.  As
has been said, It is annoying and I when I browse, I personally won't go
back to a site that used them especially the ones that had 2-5 of them
popup.  I stay away from freebie, gaming, casino, and business
opportunity type sites just for the fact that they will clutter your
space with popup type screens.

I just figure if you can't in one screen ... what makes you think you
can do it in 5 or 6? ... no need to try unless you are ripping off
someone that pays you for banner views ;-)

Hi Bill,
There is a great new program I have recently come across to fix this problem.
It not only can stop the pop up/under screens but at the same time can protect
your privacy if you use your pc at work or share use etc.

History Kill is the general name for the program although it has several facets
to deal with all these ;
Privacy - Delete your "Internet Temp Files, History & Cookies"
Auto-Kill - Automatically cover your web surfing tracks
PopUp Killer - Stop annoying PopUp/PopUnders
Cookie Manager - Select which cookies to keep!
and more.

Take a look for yourself at http://www.historykill.com/index.asp?filename=134
it's FREE for the first 30 days.

Subject:Popups and popunders

Oh how I hate these. Whenever I go surfing and I see just one pop up/under, I
immediately turn on my ad killer, and I'm sure lots of people do just that. I
ponder at all those advertisements praising these pop ups/unders as being such
an effective method of advertising. Some sites have so many, they cause my
computer to freeze. I strongly agree with Robert, not only about the fact that
these blasted ads are just as invasive as spam mail, but also on the fact that
hard work, perseverance, and "legitimate" advertising (the kind that does not
anger the general community)  will in the end provide a more satisfied and solid
customer base. I myself am a "Baby" on the net, but since I have begun to
concentrate my efforts on advertising, I have seen some results. Hopefully this
is just a fad and will vanish eventually. I can't perceive this to be effective
in the long run. I must confess that I have one pop up on my site, which comes
with a free hit tracker (because it's free, it's integrated in the code), which
I am about to eliminate.
In response to Bill's comment, I could very well imagine a group or groups being
out there right now lobbying against pop ups/unders. You may want to do a little
research...

Kind Regards

Robert Keating Says:
These types of intrusive advertising are as annoying as SPAM. I stringently
object to them. When I see them, I just delete them, as I will any Spam. I
refuse to be force to look at an advertisement that is forced on me.

End Quote

Well, Robert, you are hardly in the minority. There have been dozens of programs
developed to combat the very coding that springs these PopUps or -Unders upon
us, but the reality is that this type of advertising pays and quite well too. I
have used pop-unders to promote a variety of programs, and let me tell you, the
results are fabulous. If you have targeted traffic, this can be yet one more
method in your arsenal to get that sign-up, enrolment or click. If you hate it,
so b e it, but if you use it you'll be rewarded, as long as it does pertain to
your visitor expectations. Advertising something unrelated to the page contents
really doesn't work, but if you have them related watch your sales increase
dramatically.

I have a couple of popup code examples at:
http://www.datingdating.com/b2b/tips_and_tricks.htm
And you can search for more using the links at the bottom of the same page. I
usually use popup codes that incorporates a cookie that expires at the end of
the browsing session. This way the popup only jumps up once during a visit.
Usually. LOL.

QUOTE:
What has happened to good old hard work and innovative thinking?
END QUOTE

Robert, popups are part of the real world now. Once they work for you, you'll
learn to love them too!

From:Pauline Phillips
Subject:Who's written their own e-book?

Thomas J. Raef asked
>>I'd like to know who has written their own e-book?

I've written many e-Books, most about the Bible, but two on organs and
organ-playing.

>>What program did you use to create it? Adobe Acrobat?

I use my Microsoft word processor that is part of the regular Windows software,
and make my e-Books in RTF (Rich Text Format). That format is o penable in most
any word processor.

I originally made some e-Books in HTML also. But quit that, as the files are
longer,  due to paragraphs being separated rather than indented. Also, superior
numbers for notes are made regular text numbers. Few recipients asked for HTML
as well.

>>Who do you use for hosting?

I use Site Built It at http://buildit.sitesell.com/globesales.html .

>>How do you protect it so only paid buyers can download?

I post the title, copyright and Contents pages, a sample page and a sample of
chapter Notes. After the Contents, sample page and sample N otes each I have a
PayPal, or Amazon, or both button to click to buy or donate.

Currently I'm set up to deliver the e-Books via e-mail upon payment. Eventually
I
plan to upload them into the Site Build It server when it's ready for that soon.
Those who have access to their webhost server need a Private directory to upload
their files in. As servers generally may be open to public view. And one may be
able to download the files there unless they are in a Private directory.

PayPal has a place to list a wepage for the customer to go to upon payment. If
your e-Book files are in a server, give the address to the specific file for
them to download.

After they buy or donate, quit worrying about whether they print more than one
copy, or mail it to others. If they won't honour your copyright notice, forget
it, unless you learn they're selling it or putting their own name on it as the
author.

You can check out my e-Books site at http://www.prophecyspirit.com/ .

I see a very nice attempt at creating a niche website. The only problem I had
are the backgrounds. Many are dark, and heavily patterned, which makes for very
strenuous reading. My advise is to use friendly, bright, faint patterned
backgrounds (you could create these from the backgrounds you already have with a
photo editor), or stick to solid color(s), since a lot your images are ornate,
which somewhat go under in the maze of patterns.
Keep up the good work...!!!

Kind Regards

=====================Site Review Response  (2)===============

I'd people to review my new website and give some feedback to me on : their
initial reaction length of stay - i.e. did they explore it all or part? how
quickly do they think use of our product be adopted by internet mark eters? Kind
regards

frank heath

Hi Frank and all!
Frank, you have what looks like a great product. I am just learning to create
with flash, as time permits (eh Bogdan, you know how that is.) and your flash
creation software looks great. The site certainly offers inspiration for the
novice. Pricing seems to be what I'd expect for a product as yours, but I am a
little unclear about what I can and can't include on the site I purchase. I
don't like the sound on/off button. Go to the next section and the sound comes o
n again. And what's with the "Click" on the hover? Very annoying.

Frank, is there a reason why this page http://www.eznetflash.net/ doesn't work ?
And why does the previews that are available take me to another website?

Overall, looks great.but with all the extra surfing around to see the product,
I'd be somewhat sceptical about entering into a long term contract with you
and/or your company.

Just my 0.02.

I am requesting a site review from my fellow adlanders. The more critical the
better! Thanks much. ~Lady Evangeline

Evangeline,
There is something inherently wrong with a website that starts off with sound..
Even more so with a website that forces a download/install upon the new visitor
to hear such gawdawful noise coming from their speakers. AA RGH!

And why would you force someone to scroll a whole page just to find out what
your website is about. Not a good thing, not at all...

Tables have cells, columns, colors and you should learn to use them.
On my display of 1024x768 - 17" monitor (which most people have these days) your
index2.html page is all on the left side, not cantered and the text is a dark
blue very hard to read against the background.

And I'm now 2 pages in before I understand that you have a "doll gallary" (your
spelling, not mine!)

Evangeline, even though your dolls are quite nice, you use too many bright
backgrounds, too much sound and not enough content per page.

You need to better categorize and navigate your visitors path through your
website. You should make that your priority. Dolls, dolls dolls.. That should be
your focus, not much more.

I hope that this helps. You can always ask for help too!

Robert Lee

Spamming The Internet -Are YOU the next Victim?-
ByDebbie Solomon

When you hear the word SPAM, what comes to your mind?
Is the term worse then the meaning?
This word SPAM has been blown out of proportion.  It is
causing unbelievable hysteria on the internet.

Many businesses are spending more and more time each day
getting frustrated, yelling at the spammers, and reporting
the spammers.
-Is it really worth it?
-Is there a way OUT?

Unfortunately we will never get rid of spam.  It is like
getting rid of the junk mail in your mailbox.  It is always
there.  You can bank on it almost everyday.  It is the same way
with SPAM.  As long as you have any kind of existence online,
your email box will be littered with SPAM.

There is a way to cut a lot of it out though.  Ever since
I got my new email server, I have had very little spam
in my email box. Sure I get one or two a day, but it is not
like it used to be.

So, HOW do we get rid of SO MUCH spam mail?

The BIGGEST CULPRIT of Spam is FFA LINK pages.
Now, I know many people feel that since they agreed
to receive this junk mail in exchange for placing their
link that it is not spam.  Well, SPAM is basically unwanted
EMAIL.  Do you WANT to receive all these emails?

Many business who host an FFA LINK page do it for one reason
and one reason only - FOR YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS!  I am not
saying ALL FFA Link pages do this, but MOST of them do.
If you submit to FFA LINK pages, you can be guaranteed at
least 100 emails a day. And then all the follow-up emails
after that, so it is never-ending. You will be automatically
subscribed to ezines and newsletters, which you never
personally subscribed to. But somewhere on the FFA page in
real small writing is your agreement.
In fact, a lot of these newsletters
even put on top of their publication that you have agreed to
receive this newsletter by subscribing, corresponding with them,
or placing your LINK on their FFA page.

Of course the owners of FFA Pages will not agree with me.  But,
if you want complete honesty-
-you will not increase traffic to your site.
-you will not reach thousands and millions of people to view your ad.
-you will not even be able to keep your link there for more than one day.
(and that is good for FFA pages. Normally you are off within hours).

-So WHY post to FFA sites when you are off of them in hours or a day?
-So WHY post to FFA sites when your email box is flooded with Emails?
-So WHY post to FFA sites to gain exposure when all you get is hundreds
of emails selling their product?

-Don't you want people to read about YOUR product?
-Don't you want people to see YOUR link?
-Don't you want people emailing you about YOUR product?

FFA LINK pages do you more harm than good.
The time and energy you spend at posting to these links,
could be time and energy spent on doing
something productive for your business.
These pages are there only to get your email address.
Many of these pages have members who pay
to get your email address and spam you. These are called,
"Opt-In email Lists for SALE, or for RENT".  That is where
many of these companies get their addresses.  Don't get me wrong,
I am sure there are legit ones out there, but they are few and
far between.

People who do post to FFA LINKS will never read all
the junk mail in their in-box, they just delete it.
So what is the point?
It is like a cat and mouse game that will never end. So,
is that what you really want?  Because it does not
stop there.  Your email address is added to spam databases, and posted
to opt-in mailing lists (real "opt-in", huh?).  NOW, your
email address is a pawn for spammers.  Every piece of software
for harvesting email addresses will grab yours, and now your email
address is for sale everywhere.

Do yourself a favor....
There are so many ways to do productive advertising.  Stay away
from FFA LINKS.  You will make NO money, and you will be a
VICTIM of constant SPAM.  You will NEVER see a successful business
entrepreneur posting to FFA Sites.  Ask them where to advertise,
they will tell you.

When I was a newbie, I submitted to every FFA link I could find.
Gee, submitting your link to hundreds of thousands of possible clients?
And for FREE?  How could you go wrong?  It was SO easy!

I would wake up the next morning with hundreds of emails in my box.
In my opinion, YES< it is SPAM!  Because I DO NOT WANT THEM!
I posted to an FFA LINK page, that is all.
I HAD to agree to receive some emails, but not HUNDREDS!!!
That was the only way to get my link on the page!
I was in for a rude awakening.
Not one thread of business came through
and I could not decipher what was JUNK MAIL,
and what was business.

I literally had to get another email account.
I do not touch FFA Pages, and I get an average of a few
spam mails a day.
Everything else is business.  I love it!
I will never totally get rid of spam.  In fact,
now it is a pleasure, because I just reply with my AD.
Anyone who does business online is guaranteed
to receive some.  But if you want to get rid of
the hundreds of emails in your box,
then STOP POSTING TO FFA Pages!
They are, in fact, the biggest culprit of SPAM.

Most successful businesses have learned to stay away
from FFA Pages.  These practices
are not part of a successful business. They are part of a
desperate ploy to make money without spending any.

Now, not everyone will agree with what I am saying, however,
the facts are in front of you.  You decide whether you want
to deal with all the junk mail.  I, for one, can say that
it is a pleasure doing business online, now that I do not have
to wake up to hundreds of spammers.

You can save yourself a lot of headaches by NOT falling VICTIM
to SPAMMERS!
