Greetings All

SPAM, spam gets me really busy lately. I get about 100 spam emails
to this discussion list a day. I was thinking of adding email address for
this list to one of those services which verify authenticity of the
posting person by asking to visit certain link and get approved.
What I finally decided to do is my own Adland Digest
submission form for those who wish to send their posts here.
Please use this form in the future to submit your messages.
http://www.adlandpro.com/adlandpost.htm
I will be replacing all info about the digest and eventually will
shut down all the existing email addresses because they are on all
cd's with emails sold around the world.

Also I would like to hear what would be best service to stop
spam. I believe this is good time to start working on some
solution which will help decrease spam in some manageable
way. All the solutions I tried so far, either force me to go
through messages considered as spam where I still find about
5% of messages which are legitimate mailings, or they stop
messages coming to me considered as spam without my knowledge.

We need something which can work most of the time but
without limitations of systems developed so far.
Give me some ideas.

Subject:I have not had a hit at all!!!! http://www.havenquestretreats.com

G'day Sarah,
Without joining in with the growing list of critics of your site, I'll just say
that firstly I agree with John Olson re using www.sitemeter.com to track your
visitors.

Secondly, I think that www.selfpromotion.com is a wonderful site for search
engine submission, evaluation of your site, etc, all for a small ( up to you )
donation.

Thirdly, I've used a very good full homepage pop-under ad provider quite
effectively to get lots of visitors. They are www.spiralhits.com where 10,000
visitors cost $30 ( they on-sell to other sites who charge 3-10 times as much )

Fourthly, There are a huge number of forums out there and I've received a lot of
advice from the members at: http://gethighforums.com/Forum10/HTML/001386.html

Finally, with all the advice you've received, with a bit of work you could start
to make some $$ shortly, and I wish you luck doing so.

Andy Anderson.

From:John Olson
Subject:Juvio - what can people tell me about this?

Laurence,

I will tell you my impression of Juvio. I didn't join when it first hit the Web,
because some early member had set up a phone bank and called my home 4 times
asking me to join Juvio. That was 3 times after I said I wasn't interested and 2
more times after I told them to take me off their call list.

At the time I had never heard of Juvio. Shortly after that, I started seeing ads
the several E-zines about it. So, I looked it over and I thought it was a good
idea, but I was still burned from those calls.

Finally, a few weeks after the ads started and I had been reading more about
Juvio not only in ads but in message boards too, I wrote them and asked them,
"Why Should I Join?" With in 2 hours I had a reply from Chris Basconcillo, VP of
Marketing. He ask me to send HIM My phone number so we could talk about this. I
did, and he called. We had a Long talk about what happened and how Juvio started
and where it is going.

A couple of days after that call, and a second call to him on their Toll Free
number, I joined Juvio 5 levels under Chris.

Juvio started their business with just the Tech support and a company called,
"Speak with a Geek." It was written up in the Wall Street Journal along with
several other companies that offer similar services. Speak with a Geek was set
up first to test the product and make sure they had it working right before
launching Juvio.

I had read in several message boards about the service Juvio provided when
members called and the reports were excellent. I have, since I joined, used them
when I had a small downloading problem. I found the rep I talked with very
friendly and knowledgeable.

I haven't talked to the other person you mentioned, Paul Burg. But from my talks
with Chris, I am very satisfied with the direction Juvio is going it. They are
Very concerned with meeting all the rules set up state by state for doing
business and marketing. I could go on, but this weeks Adland was long enough. As
they grow they plan on adding Toll Free Numbers for Countries other then USA and
Canada.

What I will say, is that Juvio has done something I have not seen any other
company do before for it's members. They have set up a Discounted Purchase Leads
program for members to use. What is so different is that Juvio will be working
these Leads for you. Though it is suggested and I agree that some personal
contact will be necessary in order to answer questions about the service and the
company. All these Leads are given a Free 10 Day Trial Juvio Membership complete
with Website, Username and password. And Juvio follows up with them for the 10
days.

I know there are other places you can get Tech support for a little less money.
But the ones I have seen don't support as much as Juvio does. You can rely on
support from your computer company. But that will only cover what came with the
computer from them. NOT the software and hardware you have added from someone
else.

I have done the Ping-Pong thing between my computer company and the company that
made something I added. And it's frustrating to say the least when one says, "I
can't help with that, you're going to have to call the other Guy." And the other
Guy says the same thing. Now that I have Juvio, if I have need again, which I
our my wife will, it's only one phone call away.

Juvio offers a good service based on a fair price. (some may argue $34.95 if
high for 24/7 Tech support a month, but it not that far off from other services
I have seen) And they do something most other companies don't, real help
building. Most companies talk about Marketing Tools and all you get are Banners,
E-books, Safelists to mail to, a forum maybe and that's about it. Juvio offers a
way members who want to market not only the product but the opportunity can do
so, even if they are poor marketers. Which is just about anyone.

So far, they have delivered everything they say they will. And that is a Big
Plus in my book. http://help4u2.juvio.com/

Also, I like the product and have used it and will again.

I hope this helps. One more thing, as Part of the requirements for commissions,
Juvio now requires you to have at least One Tech Service Only retail customer to
qualify.

From:Lois M. Jeary
Subject:Juvio - what can people tell me about this?

Hi Laurence,

Juvio was presented as an online business opportunity
and officially launched on October 1st, 2002.  The company
earned a solid reputation through Speak With a Geek and
was written up in the Wall Street Journal.

They are a technical support group for computer and
software programs.  They are currently offering this support
in 13 languages and hope to have 15 languages supported
by December for over a thousand programs.

They offer live training, VOiP conferences and they are easily
accessible without long waiting times.  You can choose to
obtain the service only account for $34.95 per month.  If you
choose to go into the business side and offer it to others, you
pay an additional $7.00.  This covers two computers that you
operate.

Juvio beats most tech support because of the easy access -
e-mail, phone, VOiP with terrific response times and of course,
it's hard to beat the price.  A friend recently used Microsoft to
help her with a problem and it cost her $180.00 for one call.
With Juvio you can utilize the service as much as you want
and the tech support group goes out of it's way to ensure the
problem is fixed.

I don't care to get caught up in '3 and it's free' -- all that means
is when you bring three people into the business, your monthly
fee is covered.

It's definitely a personal decision and one you have to consider
for your own business needs - whether it will fit in with what you
currently have to offer.  We insure just about everything else and
all it takes is a screwball setting or a weird download and you
are out of commission until it's fixed.  Hope that helps.  I've
included my site address if you'd like to take a look around.

Subject:Juvio - what can people tell me about this?

I originally joined because of Brian Garvey - but he seems
to have disappeared completely.

First - the technical support is excellent. I've been using
them several times a week, every time something goes wrong
and I don't have the time to go through tech manuals. When
they don't know the answer to the more complicated
questions, they post the question and you get an answer
within 24 hours. When they know the problem, they're more
than willing to stay on the phone with you until you get it
working. I can't say enough good things about their
support.

As far as marketing, the program doesn't seem bad - but,
I've been marketing it like crazy (although only free
options) - and I've had no takers at all.

But I'm still hopeful.

In the meantime, I'm getting excellent service for my
$40/month.

Hi John!!

I just wanted to touch base with you and see how you are doing in regards to
Juvio.  Also, most of you have known me as the one of the co-founders of Juvio
and the Vice President of Network Marketing for this venture.  A week ago, I
made a personal decision to relinquish my corporate title as Vice President so
that I can actively market this opportunity and have more time to work with my
team.

Now, we each have our own reasons why we are a part of Juvio.  Whether it be to
have more free time to spend with our families or just have an additional income

ever have any questions or need assistance with Juvio.

I also wanted to introduce you to the Juvio Success Team.  The J.S.T. is

From:Frank
Subject:Ending Spam

Hello

I am deaf and run www.buy-and-sell.co.za website

Maybe this is some idea what "can" work.  Any comments?

The MAIN benefit to use e-mail for spamming are that it's free without any
limitations.  The best way to handle spammers is to let them pay for each
e-mail or establish limits.  A small script on the servers could do the job.
The script can allow 100 e-mails per address or domain per 24 hour period.
If a company or person have legimate or fair reason to exceed this limit they
need to apply for "bulk e-mail" status.
The script then act as above but also check the "approved
bulk mailers" list and act accordingly.

If this concept are working fine and distributed to other ISP's it would
become difficult for spammers to send bulk e-mail.

Althought it make things a small bit difficult for legimate businesses and
ezines etc
to "register" as bulk e-mailers, I am sure that they will appreciate it that
there are some steps to overcome the spamming problem because it's those
people/businesses who suffer most due to the spamming problem.

I know there will always be ISP's or private e-mail servers who will still
sending bulk e-mail but if this concept are accepted and spreaded wide
enough, it will sideline most of the spammers to such ISP's or e-mail
servers.  It would therefore be easy to identify such servers and block any
e-mail from them, either at normal ISP level or at backbone level etc.)

Instead of tackle the problem at the roots, the people build a fort around
them.  I try to make contact with Glomail and after some research got the
e-mail address of the marketing director but receive an e-mail back that
said I must phone the help desk to got this e-mail released.?  Well,
then I drove to their head office but cannot get access.  I must
phone somebody and make appointment?

Regards

Frank

I looked this over and I noticed one thing that I would have expected to be on
the FAQ page wasn't there. The question that needs an answer is:

"Will I get Tons of E-mail?"

Since you can send your ad once a day to all these Safelists, I would think you
would also be subscribed to all these Safelists, and that means a LOT of E-mail
from other members. That is something I would want to know.

Also they don't say to much about the Safelists they are submitting to. How
large are they? If there are Thousands of members in them, then my guess is your
ads would not be to effective. Anyone getting that many E-mails a day is not
going to have the time to look at them all if any, much less read them.

They seem to address the Spam issue, so I don't think you need to worry about
that to much. It's all sent on their servers with one of their return addresses.
But you never know..........

I can't say if this will be good or just another marketing headache. But if you
can afford to give them a try, well............. Just be sure to get a Good junk
E-mail address and write Great Headlines if you do it.

You did the right thing asking about this though. I am sure I am not the only
one with thoughts on this.

Take care and good luck,

I don't believe it is possible to edit out bad address and bogus email
addresses in that type of volume. If so they could make a fortune with this
software to help us eliminate the spam problems. With all the free
CD's that AOL gives out for Free time, on the internet it creates a massive
amount of addresses that are good for the month or so of free time and then
float around from list to list creating more spam after that as a bad
address. This is just one of the many problems to address. If anyone wants
to be on a par with Bill Gates develop a program to handle the spam issue
and make more money then Bill Gates selling the software.

At any rate I feel that volume of email per month would have to many
problens to be able to contol properly, and if there is a better way
let us know!

Is it spam free? I mean they say it is 100% spam free
but is it really spam free?<<<<<

I left the link out on purpose.

Spam free, I'm not sure.
Programs like that usually work like this:

After you join then you login and you'll
be able to send your ad to a ton of safelists.

These are usually Free safelists which means
your ad usually will Never be read.

They probably give you a list of ezines that
accept free ads as well.

So do you think you can email 75 million a day?

Sure but only if you want to make sure your ad
Doesn't get read.

If your looking to advertise online, do it correctly.
Don't believe hype like this because it will get you
nowhere fast. Learn the tricks of the trade then move
forward. Always test your ads and Never stop
learning. This isn't meant specifically for you Alain,
but to Everyone who's trying to advertise online.

If you want to use email marketing then build your own
opt-in list. This is Truly the only way to become successful
and build a relationship between you and your visitors/

millions because they simply are not true. Spend your hard

Andy,

In looking over your site I noticed Two things missing.

First - You don't tell us why placing an ad with you, no matter what the price,
is worth it. What can you tell us that will assure us that ads placed with you
will have people reading them?

Second - This goes with the first thing missing. There are hardly any ads on
your site. I don't care what price point you use, if I click over to see the ads
already there and I see one here and two there and none over there, I am going
to move on to the next Website.

You need to get that site loaded with ads. You need to tell us why we should
advertise with you and how many people view the site a week. I can see by your
hit counter and the date it started, you are getting about 875 visits a month if
I did my math right, and that's not to bad. But you need to tell us that. Give
us some hope our ads will be read.

Here is what I might do, offer Free ads to the first 200 people who post and
join the affiliate program. Set a limit of a few months of ads so you don't get
free loaders. Then I would find a Free to give away E-Book that helps people
write ads for example, and give it away with every ad placed or affiliate
joined. Just like you did with the Real-estate site.

Once you start charging, I would price it based on the numbers of people
visiting the site. Start low, and when the numbers go up, so can the price. But
just a little at a time and only for new posters. And make sure you don't price
yourself out of the market. You always want new people posting ads.

If you have a way of tracking the clicks each ad gets, you might offer the ads
Free until a certain number have clicked on it. I am just talking off the top of
my head here so, feel free to toss any of these ideas in the round file if you
want.

But until you get more ads on the site and can tell us it will be worth it to
place ads with you, don't worry about the price point.

I wish you luck though,

John Olson

Subject:Pricing an advertising service.

Hi Andy,

Most of the time I don't think the price has anything to do
with the sale. I went from charging $9.97 for solo ads to
$19.97 and the sales went up. I believe it all has to do with
the quality of the product. If you think it's worth the
$19.97 then go for it by all means. If your having questions
about it I do suggest having a survey for your current
customers if possible.

Survey's are a great way to find out what your customer wants
and they'll also give you their comments if allowed.

Pricing as low as possible can be good but you don't want
to under value the service or product. Pricing to low can
also hurt your business. If your having trouble coming to a
decision then start somewhere in the middle like $14.97.
Eventually you'll find the right price for it.

Best Wishes,
Audra Gehrke

Hi Shannon! I belong to SDA and recently sent you some tips on this subject, if
you recall. Shannon, you will NEVER be able to capture 100% of the attention of
your list - you just have too much competition. Also, don't forget: these people
are already promoting their own products - they want to capture YOUR attention.
You can find free content everywhere you look and you will probably get some
good advice here, but free content is not what is going to bond you with your
readers. You will create a bond only if you write your own stuff - let them know
about yourself, your efforts, give them advice and tips, useful offers... from
the heart, so to speak. Even then, let's be realistic - you will still only be
able to capture the attention of a small percentage.
Actually, believe it or not, that is all right. You only need 2 or 3 dedicated
people helping you to succeed. Keep trying for the rest, of course, but don't
blame yourself if you never conquer them. That's the way the cookie crumbles!
The 20-80 rule applies to mailing lists too. Only 20% of the people will respond
in some way. The rest of the 80% is extra baggage.
As in everything on the Internet, capturing people's attention is a numbers
game. Keep building up the numbers and eventually you will have some response.

Hello Laurence,

Concerning alexa privacy. you will find that most order forms
are on https (secure sites) and you will see alexa cant read these sites
nor the form data. so your visa is safe and turning off the bar
via the tool bars options in IE6 is easy enough if still unsure.,
but beware there are trojans out there that can send such info
to hackers unknownly via your own modem. I had such a Trojan/virus
nortons or mcafee didnt detect but I found it and reported it my self to mcafee
before it done damage. Must of installed via a joke email

Now I run a good product called the cleaner and the monitor which
alerts you to any trojans in back ground that modify registry
and also use a good firewall like blackice defender. the latest verison
also has a exec change detector. but i turn that off .. slows pc down
too much but is the best way for even more security though.

From:Adrian Elman
Subject:SpamCop

In response to Tom Falco:

You said "I report people who spam me daily with Viagra ads,
Mortgage deals, penis enlargements and other ridiculous
things."

Tom, I have to tell you that the people who send those mails
are the REAL spammers. When I say REAL I mean:

1) They NEVER use a real email address in the from or reply
fields.
2) They always use ISP's in China, Taiwan, Brazil, Argentina,
the Phillipines, and Russia. These offer bulk mail services and
ignore all spam complaints.
3) Often the spammer will forge your own email address or one
of a totally innocent party into the from and reply fields.

Reporting these spammers is a futile exercise. If the spammer
has forged YOUR address into the from field and you don't see
that then SpamCop's software won't tell you either. By reporting
that spam the only person to get hurt would be yourself.

And if you report one with an innocent party's address forged
into the from field you are hurting someone unnecessarily while
making the spammer's day because you fell for his trick.

2 weeks ago a new software program was released for those
who want to spam millions without sending to an email address.
It is IMPOSSIBLE to catch the sender other than by following
through with what he is promoting. This software generates
UIN's (Unique Identification Numbers) and sends directly to
those. Every email address translates into a UIN after it has
been through an ISP. By sending direct to a UIN the sender
avoids going through an ISP and the mail you receive has
empty headers. By generating millions of UIN's many will
end up being non-existent and bounce while most will hit an
unknown target (who will be addressed as Dear Friend or
something similar).

SpamCop's service achieves only one thing, and that's to
wreak revenge on internet newbies who don't know that they
are spamming. In most cases they don't even know what
spam is.

If you get off on causing pain to little people whose only
desire is to try and pay their bills then go ahead and spend
your time doing that. If you want to stop REAL spammers
then you will need a program like the latest build of
MailWasher which bounces the spam back to the hidden
servers it was sent from with a report that the address was
invalid. That often gets you removed from their list.

Spam is a very serious problem and getting worse all the
time but SpamCop is not a solution, it's only a tool for
taking out revenge on the little guy or those who are indeed
acting responsibly and have not spammed.

Running an autoresponder service means I have to deal
with complaints against my clients. In the last 4 years
we have received 100's of complaints and after investigation
only 16 were found to be genuine. The rest were all people
who had opted-in to a list, subscribed to a newsletter, or
signed up for something free on the agreement that they
would receive occasional offers concerning the subjects
they had checked as being their items of interest. They
had simply forgotten that they had opted-in. Therefore, all
they managed to do by using SpamCop was to cause
unnecessary trouble and financial damage to innocent
parties.

Incidentally, when John Colanzi called Julian Haight
"Julio Hate", he was not far off the mark. I have had many
a conversation with Mr. Haight and I keep every mail he
sends me. Why? Because he says things that would ruin
him in a courtroom. Perhaps the best example is his
admission that he "hates all marketers".

Considering he has ZERO AUTHORITY to do what he
is doing, people like you are endowing him with immense
power and given his hidden agenda he knows exactly how
to abuse it.

Regards,
Adrian Elman

From:Katheryn M. Labosky
Subject:SpamCop

At the risk of becoming unpopular, I'm going to have to agree with Tom Falco
here.  I am an entrepreneur, an ezine owner and publisher, and a writer and
marketer.  I've used all sorts of "true opt-in" mailing lists of my own
creation, "cooperative lists" (where all members send mail to each other),
and many other types of marketing, all of which have been successful, and
have never ever been accused of spam by either Tom, or any other "spam
busting" force out there.  Its not just luck.  When in doubt, I don't use
it, and when in doubt, I personally contact the person that I'm thinking of
including on any list and ask permission "in person".  A lot of work? You
bet.  But its also good business ethics.  And if you don't have the time for
the ethics, you probably don't have the time for "the business".

I also agree with Tom about the methods used to collect lists.  I get over
400 spam messages a day, and like Tom, they are sent to my "support email"
and my newsletter "article submission" links.  He's right, who would sign up
for free Viagra and garden hoses with these addresses?  When I inevitably
confront these offenders, they will invariably assure me that my company and
I signed up using these emails (these are the emails exhibited on my
website, so they were "collected" from there).  Or they will state that they
purchased these "safe lists".  I had one woman who went on and on and
actually told me that I should report the company that sold her this list,
as since she paid for it, I was at fault for allowing them to include me on
it and since she had paid she would continue to use it, as she didn't like
to waste money.  No word of a lie.

As for Yahoo Groups.  I could write a book on that.  That's the only item I
disagree with Tom on.  They are not allowing harvesting, in my opinion.  I
think they are doing it.  Not long after joining Yahoo, in an effort to
share thoughts with other entrepreneurs, in a group devoted to
entrepreneurs, we began receiving literally hundreds of messages from each
group in Yahoo groups.  We also started receiving over two-thousand emails a
week from other members of Yahoo groups, all of which did not belong to the
one and only group I had joined.  Not only that, they started using all our
emails, not just the one that I used to join.  Since they have a "privacy
policy" displayed on their sign-up form this was unconscionable, as it was
obvious that there was no privacy policy enforced and that my info had been
shared with anyone that wanted it.  When I complained in person to Yahoo, it
took them over a week to respond and when they did, they removed all my
"access" rights to all the groups, even the one I originally wanted.  So I
was "slapped on the wrist" by them, not the offenders, as I still receive
many of these emails yet.  Even now I still can't access the original group
even though I had made many business contacts there.  I have removed Yahoo
messenger and all related software from all our computers here and would
never purchase or use anything they offer.

In conclusion, I suppose I will be as unpopular as Tom seems to be these
days now, but someone has to speak up.  I do accept the spam as a small
price for the pleasure of doing business on the net, but like Tom, find it
poor business practice and some days a real insult to those of us who hold
ourselves to the highest of ethical practices and put both the time and the
money into "doing the right" thing as far as marketing goes.  As the old
saying goes, "Ruin your reputation, and ruin your business".

Sincerely,
Katheryn M. Labosky

From:Mike Heath
Subject:SpamCop

Dear Adland,

I do not have much time to respond to many issues,
however I thought that the issue of "Spam Cop" is so
serious that my experience could be useful to those who
use this type of "service" AND  those who suffer
injustices as a result of this "service".

I own and operate a Press Release firm that delivers
information through e-mail, to the worldwide "Media".
I personally detest "spam" and our policy here is VERY
strict. We are NOT a spamming operation and we do
remove e-mail destinations that request us to do so,
(as soon as possible). Some time ago I received a pre-
written Press Release from a large non-profit business
that was a "consumer watch dog" organization. This
business had uncovered a disturbing number of facts
regarding Federal as well as State violations of a
criminal nature, that a well known large Corporation
had and was continuing to commit. This Press Release
firm has a strong commitment to serve as a member of
the Media and inform other members of the media
about anything that has significant "social importance"!
Within 24 hours of transmission of this Press Release
our server/host shut our operation down without notice.
When I finally realized that the server/host had taken
this action I contacted the owner and was told that they
had received a "complaint" (threat) from Spam Cop
that their operation would be "shut down" if they did not
shut my operation down. I immediately contacted my
"client" an told them of this situation and as they were
working closely with the Justice Department, they were
glad to pass this information along. After a couple of
hours of research, I also filed criminal complaints with
my local F.B.I. office and the F.B.I. office that seems to
be where the Spam Cop organization is based (San
Francisco, CA.). I also contacted my local Police Dept.
The State Attorney General, FTC, FCC, etc...

It was obvious that in our case, we had been
deliberately "attacked" and the "originating"
complainant and Spam Cop were in violation of
several Federal laws (Freedom of the Press, the R.I.C.O.
Act "racketeering" and other laws... as well as a variety
of State laws (and Civil violations...).  The actions taken
by Spam Cop & the complainant were similar to the
those methods used by the German NAZI's (storm
trooper tactics). I was amazed that any person or
Company could be able to get away with such
actions in the United States! Although my complaints
were generally not greeted with great vigor, I would
encourage "victims" of such abuse to make their own
complaints known to the appropriate authorities.
These complaints do matter a great deal when received
in numbers and the proper authorities do take action.
The folks (and Company's) involved in our problem now
have an F.B.I. complaint file (as well as State/s)! The
only reason that such abuses exist, is that most people
are generally to complacent and do not report them!

As previously stated, I have no "love" of "spam",
even though it is a very trivial irritation at best. I do
understand those who are tired of "spam" and are
using Spam Cop "like services" legitimately, however
my computer "experts" tell me that there are currently
MANY ways that a "spamming" operation can and
will get around this type of service. In this Country we
see the rights and privileges of the majority, being
eroded every day by the actions of the few.
Unfortunately, those who "abuse" our rights and
privileges ALWAYS seem to find ways to continue
to do so! I do not have the answer to the "spam"
problem, and I do remember being one of those who
let it bother me greatly at one time. Now I simply do
not open these e-mails and I DELETE them in bulk.
This has resulted in my "blood pressure" being reduced
and a much happier "computer experience". After all,
we must all learn to "shut out" the mass advertising
gimmicks that exist in most aspects of our daily lives!
"Enhance your calm" ;-]

Happy "Computering"!

Mike Heath

To the folks at "Spam Cop": Your name infers that you
are a "police" or some sort of sanctioned Governmental
entity. YOU ARE NOT! and several Federal & State
Governmental agencies are aware that you are posing
as such... They are watching you!
How is that for irony?

I agree with Robert Lee and that PPC's (pay per click keyword search engines)
are one of the best methods of generating targeted traffic to your web site, affiliate
or mlm program.

I only would add that Overture is very difficult to work with, they reject lots
of keywords and phrases, for no particular reason. There reason they give, is that
it doesn't fit there rules for content and maintaining a quality database. I agree with
this policy in total, but disagree with the method they reject outright your submissions.
You can appeal and because it is automated many keywords don't appear to fit the
product/service.

Other PPC's, Findwhat, 7Search, Kanoodle and Sprinks might the better keyword ad
engine to submit to.
Ads start at .01 in most as opposed to O's .05. And the high bids are out of
sight for popular keywords.

I like reading this a lot. It is useful and interesting.

I am particularly enjoying the alexa tool bar, you asked us to download. I am a
member of the Club Midas Power Team and we will be contacting webmasters about
the advantages to them of membership in Club Midas. Seeing the traffic rankings
of some of the traffic sites I like and use helps me enormously.

Regarding spam. The advertising I do generates an enormous amount of email. I
have been advised to set the filters on a "junk email account" so that almost
everything I get goes to "trash". Even my 25 mg mailbox can fill 2-3 times a
day. I empty it with one click.

This is all well and good and necessary. However, when I have time, I browse
through looking for "real people" among all the duplicates. I reply to them with
a thank you and my signature ad. Almost to a person, they click on my signature
link to visit my site. They are also now on my yahoo list of addresses. Many
gave their phone numbers, as well, and I jot them down. Overtime I will explore
the potential for a productive relationship with the person.

This is especially productive on weekends.

In short, I think it is a mistake to "dis" everyone's efforts as "junk",
especially those who are begging me to contact them.  I am a good salesperson
and represent good programs that I know well. I have found my best affiliates
among those who are trying to market me, but who need help. Why? because they
have already shown me that they are willing to work.

From:David Kidd
Subject:Product example article-site review

A Perfect Internet Product

The internet is full of hype and un-kept promises to be sure.   The .com
graveyard is loaded with attempts to bring just about everything to the
internet.   Most of the promises cantered on being cheaper and better than the
same product at a brick and mortar business.   Internet businesses discovered
that maintaining an E-business was not free or cheap and they still incurred all
the expenses of a regular business such as inventory, customer support, and
especially the daily shipping and handling costs.  There is one thing the
internet was designed for, from the beginning, is the transfer of information.

With that understanding I went looking for a product to market on the internet.
There is a lot of information being marketed on the web with a large percentage
of it being 'how to sell someone else's informational product on the web' or
"how to make money on the web".   I decided to look for something with more
depth and potential growth.  And then I met Wayne Livingood who introduced me to
E-Learning.

I was a little sceptical at first, only because 'school' and 'training' have
always been associated with schedules and slow paced classrooms, but web based
learning was different as I discovered.  It was fun, engaging and effective.
Here was a High Quality Product with a very competitive price point that is made
possible by and only available on the internet.   John Chambers of Cisco said,
""Education knows no boundaries.  The Internet is the change agent for how
education will be performed."

This is what I had been looking for.  E-learning is able to deliver education
and training over the internet faster, cheaper, and better, offering a new
freedom in education that is always available 24 hours a day, seven days a week,
whenever you want, anywhere you want. What a concept!   Education is something
everyone needs but seldom has the time to pursue.  Distance learning provides a
new, easy, and very affordable way to learn the skills that leads to new
opportunities.

Of course the next step was to build a website to showcase all of our 800+
courses and provide a way for people to try e-learning.   This has been
accomplished.  And as a long time reader of Adland Digest, I knew the best place
to go to get a site review.  Plus introduce the Adland audience to a great way
to 'Learn the skills to drive their success'.

I invite you to take a look at http://www.livingood.cc

Let me know what you think, try a free course and as special offer to Adland
readers, anyone who emails me the FIRST report of a broken link or other obvious
error will be given their choice of one of our Single Course Series
Subscriptions.
http://www.livingood.cc/qppsingle.htm

As final note I want to thank Bogdan for providing such a great medium for
people to exchange information and obtain help.

I had my site reviewed a long time ago, and made several changes, but I can't

design, and I have good rankings by Alexa (85,478), and Google (5/10). I also
have a biweekly newsletter. What am I missing?

I seem to get sales in waves: I get a few orders one week, and then I don't get
any for 2 weeks. Right now should be the best time for gift sales, and I didn't
get any orders for the past 8 days.

I get about 200 visitors every day: what is the average response: .5%? more?
less? I would appreciate any observations and suggestions regarding my concerns.

Thank you very much.

Rolando,

Well, you have a good little start here but you need to get your own domain
name, and upgrade with tripod so you can get rid of the Banners and pop ups. It
really doesn't cost that much and if you want people to take you seriously, you
Need it.

I am sure others will comment on the information you provide, but I won't, I am
just to tired to read though all that stuff. (just quickly scanning it made my
eyes gloss over) So I am going to make some general comments and leave the rest
to the others.

Here we go:

Keep all the links the same color. I noticed some are blue and some are black.

Don't center the text. It looks bad and is hard to read. You only do this on
some pages and for what reason I don't know.

You have some text in a lighter gold color, sort of hard to read, change it to
something darker.

You need a second set of links on the bottom of all the pages. It will make it
easier for people to move around the site.

It's your site, tell us who you are and why we need to run around it. And why we
should trust what you have placed or written on it.

I wish you luck,

John Olson

Le Roy,

Wow, there is a site under all that flash. Thanks for letting me look at it.

On to the review:

Nice start on the home page with writing something. But the rest of the pages
are just affiliate banners. There is nothing else there. Nothing to make me want
to shop with you over some other Shopping sites I the Web, like mine.... ;-)

Tell us, Who is Mandy? Give us some content to read over, I don't care if it's a
story about your uncle Fred's old Chevy breaking down for the hundredth time,
but tell us something on all those pages and pages of banner links. (put the
uncle Fred story on the automotive page)

We need a reason to shop with you and not someone else. Find something, give us
shopping tips, things to look for when shopping, things to watch out for....
Something.

Nice little design, uncluttered and clean. But once you get beyond the slim
pickings on the Home page there is nothing to make your site stand out. Make us
want to come back, make us want to shop, make us feel good about shopping with
you.

You need to give us more then pages and pages of affiliate banners.

Good luck and thanks for getting rid of the flash.

John Olson

Hi Rolando,

It seems the objective of your site is to get sign-ups for SFI. But frankly
Rolando, you're not going to get them by putting your visitors to sleep! Sorry
to be blunt, but reading your content was about as exciting as watching paint
dry. On your introduction you state:

"I'm pleased to present these pages to add one more to the myriad of brilliant
pages shining on the ever growing
electronic business community."

That about sums it up Rolando - one more to the myriad! One more we don't need.
You content is attempting to educate me on this wonderful new-fangled gadget
called the Internet, and how we can  - gasp - buy and sell online. C'mon
Ronaldo, tell me something I don't already know! Get creative! Ever done a
search for "e-commerce" at Google? Give it a try right now. Welcome to your
competition. Think your page will be found before the 4.7 million others? Lots
of luck!

I read on your site that you are from Peru. Why not build a site with a Peru
theme? "Business opportunities in Peru" has only 203,000 page matches at Google.
With the right content you could easily appear on top. "Peru business" had 216
searches at Overture last month. Not huge, but you could make them yours. And
they might just be interested in a home business with SFI. Choose whatever theme
you like, but don't make it "internet" or "e-commerce". Find the "niche". That's
where the profits are.

Cheers

Steve Pronger

Hi all,

I just wanted to thank those people who took the time to review my site.

I did want to mention to "Jan550" that I actually don't have ANY pop ups on
that site. I wonder if they were actually popping up from a site you had
just left to visit mine. I'm not necessarily opposed to pop-ups, but when I
do use them, I only use one. But on this site I didn't want ANY
distractions. So they must have come from another site.

Also, to John Olson... Yikes! That "70" day training was indeed a typo, and
I am so glad you found it. It was meant to read "7 day" -- and now it does.
Thank you!!!!

Thanks again! I really appreciate the feedback and plan to implement more
changes based on your comments.

Best of Success,
Julie Frost

Hi Rolando,

I think you should not look for kind comments here. Your site needs some work.

For the little content on your front page. You should make a short summary on
what your offering.

On ebusiness page. Its a bit confusing when you get to the number stats. I would
compact the Quick info information on to one page. The other content seems to be
fine. I would expect some very negative brash comments from other reviewers
since I had my site reviewed before.

Provided by Natalie

A man was arrested one night for running across Red Square yelling
"Khrushchev is a fool! Khrushchev is a fool!" He was arrested and given 10
years - 5 for slandering the leader, and 5 for revealing a state secret.

=====================Joke of the Day   (1)===============

A Russian and an American are talking: - When I'm in a good mood I drive a car
painted a light color, says the American. When I'm busy or have a lot of
troubles, I drive a darker colored car. When I go for vacation overseas, I pick
a brightly colored car. - Things are much easier in Russia, says the Russian. If
you are in a good mood, they will give you a ride in yellow car with a blue
stripe (police car). If you feel bad, the car will be white and the stripe red
(ambulance). I was abroad only once, and there I drove a tank.
