Hi all
Ref John Olsen's post on GMT.
John and I have crossed swords before on various points, but on this one I
am going to agree. Good spot, John.
A couple of names have been mentioned to me in emails with regard to GMT,
namely Greg Stewart & John Van Deurzen, and I believe they were involved
in SkyBiz.
Isn't that enough reason to stay clear?

This is in response to the post by Claire Solt
in last week's Digest.
Dear Ms. Solt,
Your closing statement was, "At this point, I regard this as
barely legal, because all of the emphasis is on sales and there
is seldom a mention of the autoresponder product."
Yet earlier in your message you had said, "After about five weeks
a free member gets a check for $35. I have done the above and will
wait for a check before I promote this to others. My policy
is to test it first on myself, before I promote anything."
I don't understand, why would you stay in a program that you feel
is barely legal? And if you do get a check for $35 does that mean
that you will then begin to promote it? And will you tell those
that you promote it to that you think the program is "barely legal"?
Is your thinking that if you do receive a check that it must be
legal? That's a dangerous assumption if that is your train of
thought. Many programs will pay the first or second time, just to
make the members think that they are on the up and up, and to get
you to contribute more, that's when the bottom drops out.
May advice to anyone who is involved with a program, whether it's
MLM or an affiliate program...if all of the emphasis is on sales
or recruiting others and there's seldom a mention of the product...
Get Out! Because if it smells like a pyramid program, it's
probably
a pyramid program, and they are illegal! And when it all comes
crashing down not just those that are running the program can be
held legally responsible, but everyone involved.
Sincerely,
Sharon Bray-McPherson

I would agree with John on the GMT. I joined, paid $199 and I went to a
meeting they had in Phoenix two months later. I have got back one check
for $55 so far and I think the same way John does and have always thought
it was just a pyramid scheme. Autorepsonders, what is new or different
about them? Nothing in my opinion everyone has them, you can get them for
free, everysite you sign up for will give you them, you just write the
script. At GMT they write the script -- and they take your money! Wilf

Well, here we go again complaining about a company people know nothing
about. How much investigation do people do about a company before they
talk negative about it? Sure maybe they e-mail a few negative people but
what about the positive people. Maybe they should join and test it out
for themselves before they start talking about it. Or maybe they should
check out there form OSU and see what people are writing about GMT.
I feel people who are against GMT there is a motive behind there thinking,
maybe it will effect there business and take there people away I don't
know or maybe it is competition!!
It is our choice to choose to "win or loose" and this is with any
company
or how much money have people lost or made money in the stock market but
we don't talk negative about them. I know myself personally have lost
$40,000 in the stock market.
I am with GMT and have DOUBLE my money and have talked to the people who
run it and very impress with what they have to offer. Sure maybe it
won't
last but neither did WorldCom, and etc. Nothing in this world is 100%
guarantee anymore. I wonder how many thousands of dollars people lost from
big companies where greedy leaders took for their high life style.
GMT offers a product and I have used it and have saved time and money by
using their autoresponder. I do know they are very strict about
following
the rules and they are adding other products to improve your business
(what ever your business is) and most of all what I like about this I do
not have to do GMT as a business and build a downline but can focus on my
main business, which is selling health products on the internet. Most
other MLM companies frown on you becoming involved with more then one
company. But GMT offers a service or products for you to use to improve
your business.
Sure you can do GMT as a business and make more money but what company
doesn't offer this HUH. I wonder if GMT is doom why would people like

I can now track the success or failure of every advert, see which country

From:Andy Sparks
Subject:Pay-per-click search engines
I have been hearing a lot about Pay-Per-Click search engines again and I
would put in my two cents worth on the subject.
Unless you have a very good visit/sales ratio or you sell something
expensive with a high profit margin, I don't think you can make any
profit.
I know that in selling my real estate ebook, I can't pay 5 cents per
click. The ebook sells for $9.97 and that means, I have to sell 1 out of
every 199.4 visitors to break even.
My conversion rate is much higher, at least twice that high. If I could
consistently sell 1 out of every 400, I would be well satisfied. I would
keep trying to make it better, but I think I would be well ahead of the
average web site.
I guess what I am getting around to is how long can or will advertisers
continue to pay for clicks they can't afford and can the readers of the
Digest afford the clicks they are paying for now?
I know I can't, if I have to pay more than 2 cents, I am at break even or
in the red ink.
At a penny a click from a search engine, I can do well. I want to make
sure that you know I am talking about targeted traffic from a
pay-per-click search engine, not just bulk traffic or untargeted pop up
ads.
I can't afford to buy untargeted traffic at any price, because the results
are just to low.
Here is my prediction, the next big Internet crisis is going to be
pay-per-click search engines. I think the price per-click is about to
take a significant drop. In my opinion, the only reason they have
sustained such high bids is there are so many new people trying to earn
money online, that when one runs out of money or does the math and lowers
their bid, there is another to take their place.
It is like they say in the stock market, the trees never grow all the way
up to the sky.
The pay-per-click strategy that I used was to bid my page in at 1 cent
above the pack but below the high bidders. If you notice, there is
always
a large group that have the same bid and a few that bid high. If you are
just above the large group, when the big dogs run out of money, you are on
top until they replenish their account or another big dog takes their
place.
Of course when Oveture made the $20 monthly minimum fee, that strategy
went the way of the dinosaur. It will still work with pay-per-clicks
that
don't have a monthly minimum or minimum bid higher than your conversion
rate will allow.
I have pretty much quit bothering with pay-per-click search engines. I
am
focused on regular search engines and link popularity. The traffic is
highly targeted and while it takes time and effort, it doesn't suck cash
out of my account.

Subject:Virus - Happy Christmas
Hello Fellow Adlanders,
I don't wish to appear smug, but am pleased to say like a lot of you I
recognised the potential for a virus in the attachment.
Reasons are as follows:
1 The 'From' address didn't really fit usual Adland style
2 Size of email was a lot bigger than usual. Typically 59k to 79k for our
digest.
3 A simple right click with my mouse showed up MESSAGE.TXT and a .pif file
amongst the attachments. Story end of. Typical virus attachments. Press
delete and good bye virus.
A couple of further points. If you use a mail reader such as Outlook,
please turn off the auto-preview pane. Most virus programmers use this as
a way of launching their malicious activity without your input.
Also if you haven't done so previously, please keep your virus checker up
to date, assuming you have one. If not there are plenty of free ones to
download - AVG seems pretty good, but it all depends on your circumstances
whether you are in business, a social surfer or have the cash to buy
something different. I use Mijenix with weekly updates.
Plus with a number of people on broadband and 24/7 connection, a firewall
should be considered as something as important as virus checker.
All the above is based on one nasty experience with a virus about 5 years
ago, and touch wood, I have not been infected since.
Finally a story.
A good friend of mine took most of the advice above apart from two crucial
points, and for 18 months suffered problems with his laptop.
Rather than admit his ignorance of what I was referring to, he just kept
saying he had done everything I advised and could not understand what was
making his computer sluggish and also using up all his hard disk space.
Eventually he took it into a High Street retailer, paid over his £40-00
and got it checked out.
Result a virus on his hard disk had been sitting there doing its business
for 18 months. It also eliminated a problem we had been having with a chat
site, where we were regularly getting hit with virus emails - he was the
cause and didn't know it.
So the moral is even if you think you are sure of what you are doing
please get some professional advice at some point - even I have, and found
all my computers (thankfully) are clean.
Happy New Year and safe surfing everyone.

While I would have to say, marketing using Safelists is not the best, but if
you
have the right product and good copy plus a Subject line that gets attention,
you can have some passable, some times more then passable results with
Safelists.
The Key to Safelists as with any other marketing tool, is to use it everyday.
And use the same Subject line for several days in a roll before you try
something new, so you can track it.
As for Kathy who is interested in starting her own List, good luck. From what
I
have heard, owning a Safelist can be one headache after another. If you do
start
one, go in with your eyes open wide. As the list grows you will have to deal
with more and more bounced messages, members spamming and generally wanting
something for nothing. And the overall problem of building the list to a
reasonable size.
Take care and good luck,

think if they pop for one of these free mall thingie's they are going to make

It is hard enough to get people to a personal site to shop. And with a cookie

anybody shopping on it other then themselves and maybe uncle Fred and brother
Bill. If you are lucky.
With no control over content and a site just like Hundreds of others, who is

I am not surprised to hear they changed the rules on you, they probably
figured
out real fast they would go broke if they paid everyone with the old ones.

I've been reading a lot of posts on this list lately about making a quick

of hard work and determination, and focus. First off you need to find a

then try to figure out a need. Find the need first then develop something
to fill it and with a lot of work and determination you will be

Subject:Never ever pay again for website promotion !
Hello Everyone,
This is my reason about the subject (and I used this for all my website
partner) :
Website promotion problem.
unfortunately, just about every traffic-generating strategy you're
probably using now has it's problems.
Maybe you've already realized that ...
Search Engines can definitely send you lots of targeted traffic, but
despite what many "gurus" or software vendors say it's not easy -
and it
WILL cost you a lot of money, or a lot of time and hard work.
E-Zine Ads can also be a great source of new prospects,
but as each day passes it gets harder and riskier.
Most people get so many email ads they are starting to tune them out -
response is dropping fast.
Banner Ads just aren't what they used to be. Response is pitiful, and
there's a lot of risk involved. Have you found anyone willing to show your
banner 1000s of times, where you only pay if it's profitable?
Believe it or not these are some of the "best" ways to promote your
site.
With all of these problems it's no wonder that most online marketers and
small business owners just aren't seeing the results they had hoped for.
The Solution.
Traffic Builders was created because almost every popular form of website
promotion is too time consuming,
too costly, or just too risky for the average small business and online
marketer. And that's not cool.
But rest assured, Traffic Builders is none of these things. It combines
the best features of other popular traffic-generation systems with proven
site promotion strategies and the result is something totally unique and
much more powerful than anything you've seen or done before. Guaranteed !

This is with regard to the incident of a paid-to-click <a
href="

which is forced to take away
its paid to click page for emergency troubleshooting due to indecent
behaviour of some (many) of its members. A hitch in the scripts failed to
remove the banners the members clicked. Instead of immediately informing
the owner of this, many of its members went on a clicking binge to
accumulate earnings - at 5 cents a click they made a lot of money.
This
went on for days and many of the members managed to click like mad and got
their earnings at very inflated levels. Though one could make only
45
cents from nine clicks daily from the site, these people due to the error
in the scripts managed to jack up their earnings. A sorry state of
affair and the owner is aghast at the attitude of the members!
Only on emergence of unrealistic payment requests from these naughty
members did the alert went up. By that time the damage is done.
The paid
to click portion is inoperative for the last more than 25 days as the
owner is repairing the scripts to plug the hole. The paid to click
page
is now slated to start operation only during the first week of January.
Currently they do not post the banners for clicking (expected to start
first of week of January) but allows its members to participate in other
activities in the site.
The point I want to make is that members of any programme should adhere to
common rules and should refrain from blatant cheating of the kind
explained above.
I am sure the above could not be the first of its kind or the last one.
We need a common level playing ground - where things go smoothly and the
new ones (like me) are not treated shabbily by owners of various
internet ventures. I tried to get $25 worth of e-gold to my account by
paying through credit card. I stopped to do things of this kind as
I am
yet to solve the riddles of my first transaction.
Hope things will sort out, or would it?
Wish you all a happy new year

need one large FAQ page.
Without people going to those sites, you could be giving them away for free,
and
it still wouldn't make have them worth the time and trouble to own one. Tell
us
how the FFA and Classified sites work. How do you get people to the sites to
post?
You're the owner there William, if you want others to buy what you are
offering,
then you had better be giving us an example of what can be done. Get some Ads
on
those pages. And then tell us, the normal marketer, how to do it.
Good luck with this,
John Olson
