=================You might be wondering....=====================
From: John Olson

I thought I should write something about why I haven't posted in the last
few weeks. I had been posting almost every week. But two things have
happened that caused me to miss out on replying to the interesting
discussions going on.

One and surely the least, was not receiving notification of each weeks
Digest. It seems I get them every other week or so. I have no idea why and
judging from some of the other posts, I am not the only one in this boat.
But that's not the main reason for not replying.

On March 6th, my Wife of almost 17 years suddenly passed away. She had
gone through more then anyone should have to go through with back and neck
pain and the depression that comes with Chronic pain. They said it was
Natural Causes, but no one should die of Natural Causes at 45.

I have been in a state of Shock over this as you can imagine. Neither of
us had any idea She was in real trouble. She just laid down for what She
and I thought was going to be Her normal evening, hours nap. I never could
really wake Her after that.

I don't want to go into everything here, but for those who are interested,
I have added a Memorial Page to my main site for Her. Here is the link:
http://shop-money-time.com/main/id40.html

I have been over run with Thoughts, Prayers and Good Wishes from people on
my mailing lists and have finally cleared my in box. And I thank all those
who took the time to write, it meant a lot to me.

For now, Matthew our 8 year old son, and I are doing the best we can.
Matthew is doing much better then Daddy. Daddy is still coming to terms
with it all. It happened so fast and we had no warning. Which is a
Blessing for Her. But numbing to me.

I don't want to write more about it here, if you want to read what I have
written about Her and see Her picture, you can go to the page on my site
above.

I will try and get back to my somewhat normal self and get back into the
discussion later.

Take care and God Bless,

John Olson

Subject:Habeas Inc

Ok, guess I missed the beginning of this or misunderstood it.

You are saying this one person is trying to take control of all e-mail.
That I wont' be able to send mail without paying for it, business or
personal.  (we all know that once people get used to it they'll attack the
personal too.)

What if I do nothing?   I don't have e-mail lists yet that amount to
anything.   Was hoping to this year.

I guess I don't understand how one person can take over everyone's
business.   If some of my email falls to the spam filters so be it.  I
don't spam.

I don't mind receiving spam, because I do happen to know where my delete
key is before I even open mail.  And after the first one comes you know
who they are.  Also I have come across some great things because I
received unsolicited e-mail.

And I'm on so many lists I really wouldn't know if it's spam or not.  I
just don't open it.  Take me two minutes twice a day to delete the stuff.
No big deal.

Now the spam I do receive that I'm upset about is the one company that
sends out the same 15-20 msgs all at one time.  Actually they send out
about 15 at the same time and then space the other 5 during the day.
Click on the unsubscribe and it comes back that the address isn't in the
database.  Go to the list host and they can't find it either and there's
no contact on either.  That I do mind. That one company takes more of my
time than all the rest of the spam I get.   I also mind the porn spams.

From:Robert Lee
Subject:Habeas Inc

William Jaroske has very valid points. Watch out for online petitions and
beware of what you are signing your name to.
I guess I decided that it's time for me to take a look at this hub-bub, so
this is what I did:
First, a google:
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&q=Habeas+Headers
Now, I usually hate the first link, and since it goes directly to:
http://www.habeas.com/support/install.htm
I didn't go there.
I went instead to:
http://www.welmac.org.nz/article_archives/habeas_headers.htm
This is an article (written by someone in the employ of the person that
owns Habeas.com and company, mind you) explaining the basics of what
Habeas is, does, and the headers of the email that says "This Is Not SPAM"
It also tells of the cost of the license involved.
The article says: "Licenses are free for individuals and ISPs that warrant
that all their email is not spam; other companies pay $200 per year for a
license unless their business revolves around sending verified opt-in
commercial email, at which point the license is based on the number of
recipients."
End quote, but now Michael Yost says that the prices are rising. Hmmm.
In my world of the Internet, if prices rise, you're in trouble. Prices
stay the same or go lower, simply because of economy of scale, but they go
up because you need to build a war chest for potential problems (or, of
course, you have a good thing going and want to make a ton of cash
quickly). And you have enough people paying the toll so you can use their
dollars, rather than the usual business insurance, to prepare yourself for
the flurry of lawsuits that will come.

But, let's not get ahead of ourselves yet. We're still investigating.

The next stop was:
http://www.wilsonweb.com/reviews/habeas.htm
Which is a great review of the whole system. I learned more in the 2
minutes it took to read the article that I learned searching around before
I started this project.
I learned that you'll buy the Habeas Header plug-in so that your emails
sent to your customers WON'T be bounced because you have the Habeas Header
installed and your email recipients should know that your emailing them
because they are OPT-IN email recipients.

That is, if your domain has been flagged as a spammer. sorry, if your
domain hasn't been flagged as a spammer.
NO, this is it: if you send emails that have been requested by visitors to
your website, or been "opted-in" from a different web site (Bogdan, care
to make a comment here?) your email address shouldn't be on a blacklist
(spammers domain name list that is blocked from receiving emails by the
ISP's that use blacklists) so you should be safe anyways and don't need to
spend money on this Habeas license.
(Before I get too ahead of myself, who - on this newsletter list/digest
are going to be spending any $$$ on purchasing a Habeas license? If you
are, you can continue this discussion AFTER you have sent me an email with
the Habeas header installed.)

If I have installed and configured the Habeas plug-in to only accept
emails with the Habeas Header! LOL

If you read this article and agree with it:
http://www.wilsonweb.com/afd/habeas.htm
Then you're sold.
Habeas is a good thing.

But is it really?
Why is this page:
http://www.habeas.com/
The exact same as this page:
http://www.wilsonweb.com/afd/habeas.htm ?

As I see it, Habeas Headers boil down to these points:
1. you send out email messages to visitors of your website
2. you have more than 5,000 recipients of your weekly email newsletter,
digest, whatever. At a $499.00 annual business license, at least your
Habeas cost will be just under 1 cent per email. This is to ensure that
the ISP's are not blocking your emails because they HAVE singed up as a
Habeas blacklist blocker.
3. You can afford this cost
4. You feel threatened by being identified as a possible spammer

Now then, is this explained well enough?

Maybe you can convince your host to ensure a verifiable header is included
with your emails. For the cost of your hosting fees. I know that I will be
sending them this exact article.
All of the ISP's and hosting companies I have done business with have
stringent rules about misuse of their systems, including email.
How hard will it be for them to write verifiable email headers into
everything we send out?
Oh yes, I forgot, they already do that. So I guess, spam is our
responsibility, no one else's.

Hmmm..

Of course, if someone forges your email header and sends out spam, with or
without the Habeas Header. what happens then?

The Habeas Header is only a guarantee that what YOU are emailing to your
opt-in recipients is NOT spam.
It IS NOT a guarantee that your domain name will not be forged and used as
a SPAM sender address.
If you use a third party email/newsletter service for your newsletters and
emails to your opt-in customers, you should have none of these problems
anyways. Right?

We hate to be the one that says..."we told you so"...but Habeas has filed
lawsuit against some BIG names in marketing. You may read the article here:
http://www.internetnews.com/IAR/article.php/2176071
and on Habeas website:
http://habeas.com

We have been telling you HOW dangerous this is to ALL internet Marketing
people, and if you read carefully, Clickbank is involved as a defendant.
Habeas is "bragging" on their site about how great this is to ALL email
protected by their product and they they mean business.

What is this going to mean to YOU and all internet marketing?? As we said,
affiliate programs are GOING TO BE AFFECTED. Let me ask this, IF Habeas
prevails and Clickbank loses...do you think that ANY affiliate marketing is
safe?? You should not bet the farm that it will be.

I am going to ask you once more...and I will beg and grovel if
needed....START TELLING EVERYONE to join the OMPUAC...and DONATE to our
cause. Tell them about the lawsuit. MAYBE people will wake up???

Unless WE, the OMPUAC take measures to protect our vested interests in our
businesses, then here is further proof that they ARE threatened.

http://ompuac.org/donate.html

Numbers speak volumes in Wash DC...as does money. We have neither right now
to speak of. Friends, we need more of both...and more numbers far more than
you can imagine. As I have said before...there is NO reason now that we
can't be 10,000 strong in the next 3 weeks!! All the evidence is there that
Habeas, Inc. IS the single most dangerous threat to YOUR online businesses.

I thank you again for your time.

Subject:Length of your Ezine

Hi Bogdan and adlanders,

I agree with Rikie. This was the last ezine for me to read because of all
the good info found inside. Now it seems to be a customer service
desk--complaints handled here. We've all appreciated the area of our
newsletter for voicing our opinion on various situations but lets not turn
this publication into a weekly soap opera.

As for Habeas- we NEED to kept informed. It affects us all. Everyone needs
to be able to pass their opinion and make their own decisions about this.
BUT- lets leave room for other points of interest also.

As for the continuing discussions- name calling and mud slinging is
childish. We ARE all adults here, right?
I think Rikie's idea of restricting the size of responses is great. And on
that note I'll sign off.

Yours in success

=====================Site Review Response  (1)===============
From:Katheryn Labosky
Subject: http://www.echannel411.com/

Hello Ben,

Did take the opportunity to visit your site today, and liked the layout
and general "feel" of the site, as I felt it was nice and "clean" and easy
to navigate.  Everything readily accessible that you're offering.

I would however, make it a point to put up more of a sales letter, Ben.
Your letter mainly consists of all your offerings in no particular order,
and there really needs to be a letter upfront, spelling out in no
uncertain terms (confidence sells), what your products are, how they will
help the reader, and how they are BETTER than the rest out there of a
similar nature.

I stayed on your site, Ben, and looked things over well, even though you
lacked a real compelling sales letter, but honestly, most readers only
spend 14 seconds on a site if you don't catch their attentions in the
first few lines, so work on this, and you'll really be ahead of the game.

Sincerely,

Katheryn Labosky

The Secret From The King Of Pay Per Clicks
By Willie Crawford

At Joel Christopher's recent Master List Builders'
Workshop in San Antonio, Texas, Marlon Sanders told
the audience that I was "The King Of Pay Per Clicks."
He explained that there was no investment he could
think of that gave a faster or better return on
your investment than pay-per-click search engines.
After all, I had done campaigns where I earned $7
for every $1 invested.

Marlon, was just teaching the crowd that on-line
success doesn't have to be cosmic. Often, the things
you need to do are staring you right in the face.
The reaction from the crowd, and conversations with
people afterward, showed me that many people do need
to develop a strategy for using this powerful tool
in their marketing mix. So in this article let's look
at how to effectively use pay per click search engines
to drive massive amounts of highly targeted traffic to
your website.

The real secret to using pay-per-click search engines
effectively is driving the *right* traffic to your site.
Since you are paying for these visitors, you want visitors
who really want whatever it is that you are selling.  You
don't want to attract browsers. You want people who will
arrive at your site and take the action your site is
structured to generate.  You also want to do this as
inexpensively as practical.

The most important thing that you do in using the
pay-per-click search engines is write your listing
correctly.  This is what determines whether you get back
many times your investment, or whether you just end up
with disappointments and even trouble-makers.

I teach that you should write a pay-per-click listing as
if it were a singles ad. A singles ad tells what the
desirable traits are in the person you are looking for.
They tell what this ideal person should like to do, and
equally as important, what this person should not be
like. For example, should the person love kids, or be a
non-smoker, or enjoy the outdoors?

Your pay-per-click listing should convey the same
information. Your title should grab the attention of who
you are looking for.  Then the body of the listing should
continue describing your ideal prospect, by spelling out
benefits, while at the same time, disqualifying prospects
you don't want.

Yes, there are prospect that you don't want.  Remember, you
are paying for people to click through to your site. You
only want to pay for people that will give you a good return
on investment. You only want to pay for people who will
allow you to accomplish your ultimate objective. That
objective could be to build a list. That objective could be
to get someone to get involved in a cause. That objective
for many of us is to get people to purchase our products.
To only attract people likely to take that action, your
listing needs to be worded properly.

If you are selling an item, you don't generally want to
attract freebie seekers. So you should be careful in your
use of the "f" word.  The only reason to offer them
something for nothing is if it builds your list, or if it
leads them into a funnel that ultimately converts them into
paying customers. To avoid attracting the wrong person if
you are selling an item, I personally would list the price,
or use language indicating I am selling something - right
in my listings. This turns off those not willing or capable
of paying for your product. That's ok - you're not after
those people if you're paying for traffic.

If your listings miss-lead people or attract people not
really interested in what you offer, you are just filling your
list with time-wasters. If you are really deceptive, you
may even get a person who will go out of his way to get
even.  You don't need or want that headache. You want the
right prospects to visit your site.

In writing your listing, you need to make sure you spell
out some real benefit the visitor will get from visiting
your site and using your product. Before you even begin
writing your listing spend several hours listing all of the
possible benefits of using your product.  Look at each
product feature and translate that into a benefit. Ask
what that feature does for the customer. Write what it does
for the customer to improve the customer life, and then
incorporate the most powerful of those features into your
various pay-per-click listing.  You will discover that the
people who do click though to your site arrive in a ready
to purchase your products frame of mind.

This is just one of many considerations in creating a
pay-per-click campaign.  It is perhaps the most important
factor in avoiding wasting a lot of money.  Pay-per-clicks
can be very effective in driving highly targeted traffic
to your site. They can be so effective, that after you're
refined a listing, you will know before even placing that
listing, at any major pay-per-click,  what
return-on-investment
you are virtually assured of getting.

We'll examine other aspects of using pay-per-clicks later.
We will also discuss effective methods of generating
traffic extensively at the Internet Marketing How To
Workshop.  If you'd like to learn  not only how to create
