=================Keep it Simple=====================
From:Andy Sparks

haven't posted anything to the Digest for a while, and I was thinking
about all the posts asking how to advertise a product.  How do we get
found on the Internet?  Where should we spend our money to get the best
results?

There are always some discussions and a few people that aren't making any
money trying to advise people that are making less and there is some
really good stuff posted here.  I would like to put in my two cents worth
and anybody that disagrees is welcome to post and explain why I am wrong.

I have come to the conclusion if you pick a product or service and
advertise it; you are well on the road to failure.  It is much more
efficient to find out what people are looking for and then make it easy
for them to find it.  It is very important that your web site is written
in a manner that leads to a sale but it is more important to be selling
something people will buy.

Like our good friend, the General, (Robert E. Lee) has a dating web site
and there are a lot of lonely people on the Internet.  They are looking
for something and He makes it easy for them to find.  Bogdan is right on
top of that as well.  There are a large number of people that want free
advertising and want to start or improve their Internet business.  Bogdan
makes it as simple as possible and continues to make it easier to do
business with Adland Pro World's Free Classifieds.

Before you begin to market on the Internet you need to think about a few
things and if you haven't experienced the success you want, you need to
rethink some things.  Think about what you really enjoy doing or what
subject do you know really well?  Every one of us has special knowledge
about something, even if we don't realize that we do.

I sell real estate and when I quit trying to be the next Internet
Marketing Guru and started writing pages about real estate, things began
to change.  When I discover something that people on the Internet are
looking for, I go find a source for whatever it is and make it easy for
them to find.

One good place to begin is with the Overture Search Term Suggestion Tool.
http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion Type in a
keyword or phrase and it will tell you how many times that term was
searched for last month on Overture.  Then do a search at Overture, Google
and Yahoo and any other search engine you like and discover how much
competition there is for that phrase.  Don't try to compete if there are
millions of pages trying to sell the same thing.

Find a subject that has limited competition and some product demand that
you can talk about with some intelligence and you are well on your way to
success.

Now that you have your subject, the key to success is delivering quality
information.  No matter what anyone tries to tell you, the Internet is
about information.  Unless you are providing good information, you are not
going to succeed.

I know what you are going to say, The General and Bogdan are not providing
information and if you say that, you are wrong.  Lonely people on the
Internet are looking for a date and Robert tells them where to find one.
(If you go look, Robert will also give you all kinds of good Java and Web
Master tips from his web site as well as hook you up.)  Bogdan provides a
web site where people can find a business opportunity or learn to improve
their Internet business.  Yes, He offers services but it is the
information that brings the people there first.

What about Ebay?  I am glad you asked, Ebay doesn't actually sell items,
they provide a format for buyers to find items they want.  They also
provide a format for people that have items to sell, to find a buyer.
They answer the questions, Where can I find one of these and Who would
like to buy one of these?

What question does your web site answer?  If it doesn't answer any
questions, why should anybody stick around long enough to read it or make
a purchase?  Unless you are willing to provide good information and answer
some questions that people on the Internet have, you are not going to
succeed.

I have found a deal somewhat by accident that shows good potential and
only after it began to work, did I figure out why.  That is part of what
prompted this longer than usual post.  In the process of improving my
profits from http://www.yourrealestateforsale.com ,I found a company that
would pay me for mortgage leads.  I direct people to a web page that
submits their information into a database and mortgage lenders compete for
their business. http://www.snappyads.com/mortgage/free-mortgage-quote.html
I only get paid if a mortgage professional buys the lead.  That made me a
little extra cash but there is huge competition in the business of
gathering mortgage leads.  My results were never what I hoped for and
while I am happy to cash the checks, I have reached a peak and that
appears to be the best I can do with what I have to work with.  I know
that you see the huge number of television and print ads for mortgage
quote web sites and I am unwilling to spend that kind of money in a highly
competitive business.

Now obviously this story has a happy ending or I wouldn't be telling it.
The company I am selling leads to, now lets me refer mortgage
professionals to them by offering free mortgage leads.  The way it works
is after a lead goes unsold for a short while, they let the mortgage
professionals have it for free.  There is much less competition for giving
away free leads to mortgage professionals than there is for mortgage web
sites looking for leads.  Every now and then, one of the mortgage
professionals buys a lead and I get a gratuity.  The gratuity is small
but, every time that mortgage professional buys another lead, I get
another gratuity.  Only a small percentage of the mortgage professionals I
refer buy a lead but there are a lot of mortgage professionals on the
Internet that want leads and I am all about helping them find free leads.
Here is the free mortgage lead web page,
http://www.1st-mortgages.com/refer/369

The moral of this story is, stick with what you know, provide good
information and find a niche where the competition is less.

I have to give credit to DR. Ken Evoy, because I didn't figure this out on
my own. http://www.sitesell.com/967andy.html

Thanks for reading this really long post.

Subject:Pay-per-click advertising

Hi Sylvia;

The key to success with Pay-Per-Click advertising is to do your math and
stay on top of your bids.  If your profit is $10.00 per sale and  it takes

a thousand visitors to make a sale, you break even at $0.01 per click.  If
you make a sale every 500 visitors, or a $20.00 profit, then a penny per
click will put you in profit.

Often times the bids for each keyword are very dynamic.  Someone new will
come in and bid for top placement and the bid to be first will go way up.
After they run out of money, you can be paying much more for top placement
than necessary, if you don't monitor your bids closely.

I always recommend bidding for a posistion of about  10 at the lowest and
3 at the highest.  The difference in cost is usually significant between
#1 and #3 and when the high-flyers run out of money, you will be on top or
ranked higher until another high-flyer comes along.

You can be #1 or #2 several times a month for much less than your
competitors.

Don't forget to do the math!  Know how many visitors it takes to make a
sale and how much you can afford to pay to get them there and keep a
profit.

If you have a real estate, mortgage or insurance web site, I have a
Pay-Per-Click search engine for you.
http://www.clickthebest.com New accounts begin with $10 credit and the
cost per-click is low because it is still pretty new.

Completely off the subject, I am looking for a steam engine and boiler to
power a WWII lifeboat.  I may have to go diesel but would prefer steam.  I
have pictures of the lifeboat at http://www.snappyads.com/lifeboat.html

From:Mireille Carrier
Subject:Pay-per-click advertising

Hello Sylvia,

PPC stands for pay-per-click.  You can find a list of ppc at
http://www.payperclicksearchengines.com/ and a review on a lot of them.  Many
of the brand new ones with very little traffic, if any, will offer you
money to sign up.  Yes, they GIVE you money.  But how much traffic will
you get?  That's anybody's guess.

The most reliable are much more expensive and the majority only accept
credit cards online, but some also take payments offline (cheques and
money orders).  First they don't pay you to join.  You pay them to
advertise.  The majority are now increasing their minimum bids from 1 cent
to 5 cents per click.

How does it work?  You deposit a certain amount of money in your account.
Then you choose keywords that are directly related to your business.  Most
now have tools to do this.  Then you bid on how much you want to pay for
each click for each keyword.  Every time you get a click on your site, the
amount of the click is subtracted from the balance in your account.

The bigger ppc's (Overture, FindWhat, and several others) will review your
list and then approve or disapprove your keywords.  Make sure you read the
rules and how each one works before you start your "bidding war".

Newbies at ppc can spend a lot of money in just one day with absolutely
nothing to show in return.  You have to monitor your bids very closely
every single day.  Those below you who run out of money get their listing
deleted, or I should say put offline until they add more money into their
account.  Others will lower or increase their bids.  This usually means
that you are now bidding too much money for your keywords so you need to
decrease your bids.

The key to succeed with ppc is to have a lot of keywords that generate
less traffic, and don't forget misspellings (business, business).  Let's
say for example you are selling computers and components.  Rather than
bidding on "computer", or "monitor", you could advertise "NEC 17 inch
monitor", or "build your own computer", "buy a computer online in Canada"
(yes I'm in Canada).

The more precise you can be in your keywords, the better.  Your traffic
will be extremely targeted, which is what you want in the first place, and
you'll get people who are looking exactly for what you're selling.

Some of the biggest money wasters are "free", "job", "computer", "music",
etc.  Always have more than just one word and be as specific as you can.

You don't want as many clicks as you can get.  What you want with ppc
advertising is sales or sign-ups for as little money as possible.  More
clicks doesn't necessarily mean more money in your pocket.  More often
than not, this means more money OUT of your pocket.

Once you get the hang of it, it can be quite a good advertising method
with a good ROI (return on investment).

Hope this helps you a little.

Best of luck to you!

Mireille

Subject:HTML or Text mails

Hi Folks,

the discussion about the format of e-mails is a real
issue these days. Spam Filters and programs such as
ST impact negatively one the efficiency of mailing and
in many cases we end up being blocked just because the
same server sends out a multitude of mails.

The best solution we have found yet, are short mails,
edited in a vocabulary which is not filtered and using
plain text. This way we transmit to the recipient a
link to a site, which contains the actual mail in form
of a web page. It seems that the longer the more
marketers are using this trick, just to safeguard the communication.

The inconveniences are obvious and described by all
those who prefer direct text messages instead of the
redirect to the web. However, let's think about all
those, who do not get the mails anymore or who get them
in an unreadable format. They are victims of their
servers anti-spam paranoia which at the end of the day
strips us of our freedom to freely chose, which mails
we want to receive and which ones we wish to block.

May be the solution is what we use for our friends:
give them a free pop 3 account and a list of selective
news letters they can receive from there, directly into
Outlook or Outlook Express? Or a web-mail account,
where, when you download the mails, you download at
the same time Web Pages you can view offline?

Time will show, which will be the real solution. For
the time being, we are all worried about the evolution
and its negative impacts and we are just searching ways
to communicate efficiently, in spite of the prevailing
conditions.

To our Communication!

There are many different ways you can capture emails. I prefer the
autoresponder method. Most autoresponders will automatically generate a
script to collect whatever data you want from your lead (name, address,

a welcome message - or even a series of messages where you can explain the
benefits of your site. There are autoresponders available everywhere on
the net... I don't want to give you a specific one here, it may be
considered advertising.

Robert, since you stated that you ran the ad for a one or two time

Subject:Promotional Items are Effective

Bogdan,

Thank you for a great newsletter and I also really like receiving the full
text in my email inbox. I prefer the old format and am glad it's back.

I thought I'd given an example to continue with Tom and Robert's
discussions of the power of promotional items.
I wrote a 24 page booklet on Stress Reduction which incorporates tips from
my psychotherapy practice, yoga classes and meditation background. I put
some on a counter at a health food store as a free give away. I received
two phone calls from people who became private counseling clients. One
only stayed a few times but the second person worked with me for 8 months.

I also gave them out in my yoga class and a student who is a financial
planner bought 500 to put her own label on the cover. (I left a space
between the title and my name on bottom for people to affix their own
company labels). She said as a financial planner she sees a number of
divorced people who she felt could benefit. This is something she sent to
existing customers, former customers and new prospects.

The promotional item has so many levels now- she can get customers she
hasn't seen for a while to possibly return, current customers to see her
loyalty to them and prospective customers to have a booklet in their
purses that they'll be reminded of her services. Plus as the author, my
contact information is in the inside cover.

I highly recommend using a promotional item or creating one yourself that
can be a viral tool. If you think this item could work for your own
business please feel free to e-mail me.

Subject:Promotional Items are Effective

When it comes to promoting a website, there are 2 short-comings of
promotional products -
(1) You can't give away promotional products from your website.  It is not
like at a store where someone comes to your check out counter and you give
them a free pen.
(2) Promotional products have the names of websites printed on them, but
then the user has to go home to their computer and type in the URL into
the
computer themselves.  Let's admit it - people are lazy!  Also the user has
to have item in front of them, especially if there are coupon codes or
hard-to-spell URL's.

There is a new type of promotional product that was made especially for
promoting websites - it is a downloadable promotional product that sits on
Windows desktops and clicks directly to websites.  It is a desktop alarm
clock that is used as a daily planner - they are very popular among users
(over 400,000 downloads & 40% recommend them to their friends).  Company
customizes it with name, logo, website links, banners and desktop icon.
It
can even pop up with special messages to entice users to buy such as
coupons, daily tips, special event announcements, etc.  Each pop up
message
can link to appropriate webpage.  These clocks are not spyware.

These clocks can also be copied on to CD's and given out offline to lure
offline contacts to your website.  They come in ready-made themed clock
models or custom-made models for professional corporate branding.
E-commerce stores, entertainment sites, sports teams and more are already
beginning to use these products.

From:Tom Falco
Subject:Increase Sales With Proper Email Etiquette

I received an email today. It said: "Yes please."
That was it!

"Yes please."

Apparently I corresponded with this person at
one time and I must have suggested something
in the last email I sent him and he was
responding. But you know what? I get about
300 emails a day.

I was pleased that he said yes and not no,
but I have no clue what he said yes about.
He didn't even sign his name.

Use common sense when using email.
Always have a copy of the last correspondence
attached to the bottom so that the person
receiving the mail can refresh their memory
of what your previous mail was about.

Also, when using email for business purposes,
it is a good idea to be a bit more formal.

It's true, the whole concept of email is informal.
People don't usually use a greeting or ending,
but for business dealings this is a good idea.

Even if you start the mail with "Hi Joe - I received
the order and loved it," it is much better than just
"Hey there, I received the order and loved it."
Or worse, leaving a greeting off altogether.

When corresponding for business try to be
professional. Start with "Dear Mr. Smith," rather
than "Dear Joe." It is much more suitable
and it shows the reader that you are professional.

Another interesting phenomenon is mass emailings
where a person wants a quote or an ad swap
or something that a group of people would respond
to if interested. I am not talking about spam, I am
talking about a legitimate business dealing.

I get requests for ad swaps daily and the ad swap
is so general and uncaring that I delete it.  But
one of the worst is when a person wants a
quote from us, and they mass mail us and every
other similar company they can think of for a quote.

The problem: They are so general about it and
they don't hide the other email address as "blind
carbon copy" so that we all see who was asked
for the same quote. Some of these lists have
dozens of recipients and it is so unprofessional
that we never bother to quote. Especially when
we know that we are competing with 35 or so
vendors.

If you are mass mailing to businesses, friends
or whatever, it is a good idea to hide the other
recipients' names so that the whole list does
not receive their private email addresses and
also so the whole list does not know who you
are sending the mailings to.

Let the person receiving the mail think that
they are the only one and not just a number
on your mailing list. When you received this
ezine, there was only your email address as
recipient, not the list of the thousands who
also received this ezine.

Think before you send out your next
email correspondence. Is it as professional
as you would like it to appear?

Subject:Permission SPAM

Hello Bogdan and Adlanders,

Maybe others have had this same experience before.  But I sure don't wish
that on anyone!

Welcome to my nightmare...

I've been promoting on the internet for several years and I thought I had
a pretty good handle on what SPAM was.  Until a few days ago...

The day I discovered ezines, I was ecstatic.  It quickly became my #1
advertising method.  It's simple, it works!  Last weekend I decided to try
something new.  I bought advertising through a special that would mail my
ad to what I now think is well over 100 ezines.  It was a good deal.  So
what if I had to be subscribed to each one, big deal.  I was already
subscribed to many of them.

BIG MISTAKE!

I have spent the last 5 days deleting emails from my inbox.  Some of these
ezines I don't even open anymore, I just hit delete.  I've already
unsubscribed to quite a few of them.  I don't even care if they don't
publish my ad, just don't send me any more emails!!  And I thought
"normal" SPAM was bad!  Now I've given permission to all these people to
spam me every day at will.

I can't believe that some of these "publishers" call their publications
"ezines".  A lot of them were nothing but ads, ads, and more ads!  All
kinds of ads, good ads, bad ads, big text, small text, colorful,
non-clickable links, horrible font, tasteless presentation, you name it, I
got it.  Absolutely no content whatsoever.  Or you just couldn't see it.

Others send HTML ezines. I prefer plain text myself, but some HTML emails
are well presented.  I may not read them all in HTML, but hey that's ok.
The backgrounds were dark with black text.  How in the world are we
supposed to read that?  Quite a few looked like they were put together by
children.  And a few others send, I swear, a dozen solo ads each PER DAY!
And a handful had server problems, all at the same time, just my luck!,
and I received several copies of the SAME ezine the SAME day!

Now come on already, I didn't sign up for this many emails!

On the bright side, I found some new ezines that were quite interesting.
Publishers who knew SOMETHING about internet marketing, who had something
of VALUE to contribute.  These I plan to keep for a long time.

It sure made me appreciate even more the newsletters I was already
receiving and chose to keep receiving for the last several years.

For all the publishers out there who publish QUALITY ezines, I thank you!

Now I can add "legitimate spam" to all the rest!  Until I get around to my
new job, "unsubscriber", for the next month!

Sincerely,

Mireille Carrier

==============N e w P o s t i n g  (3)=============
From:Marc Possoff
Subject:Introduce myself

Hi Everyone,

First time here, my name is Marc Possoff.

I'm new to internet marketing and want to gain as much knowledge and to be
able to put it into action.

It was recommended that I be a part of this group.

My intentions are ONLY to seek advice, reviews and to give myself whenever
I can.

I am a NetworkMarketer. I have been purchasing pre-qualified leads, not
generating leads myself.

I have been investigating the world of internet marketing for my Team.
Amazed that there seems to alot more pieces to the puzzle with internet
marketing compared to network marketing. Oh, well I realize it's a
learning curve and I'm willing to persist.

So again, wanted to introduce myself and will contribute as much as
possible.

Thanks

Marc

Ok I'm fed up
ByMike Hills

Ok I'm fed up, and hacked off with being lied to, accused of this, that
and everything else. Told I need a larger penis, and viagra, and
occasionally a breast enlargement ( with a name like Mike I wish )

And that's just the e mails.

When it comes to marketing programs well. I am losing my faith. I really
am.

Over the past 3 years. I have spent a lot of my time and money building up
what I believe to be ethical and legitimate marketing programs. I have
taken the time and trouble to investigate my sites and their workings
before I launch to you, and the general public, and in general they all
work well, with little outage.

Now it seems that marketing has become un ethical.  Lets deal with the
lies and spamming.

Here's the first one from Beatrice to my articles address ( Spam straight
away )

Messages that start.  You subscribed to,  and sent to my paypal address
which is incoming only.

I get messages to Ralph on my MLMReport.com site. who Ralph is I don't
know. But I've been getting messages for him from about a week after I
bought the domain.

Are these people ( I use the term loosely ) Brain dead or something.

They want me to part with my hard earned cash. and the first thing they do
is lie to me. Yes I sure am going to give them the benefit of my money.

I tell you it's a good job I can burn up the old calories by clicking the
old mouse button on delete.

The new marketing type sites, that send messages directly to IP addresses.
Personally I still use windows 98 so it's not a problem for me.

Has anyone been plagued by these messages? let me know on
Mike@dailyclassifieds.co.uk   I do have some IP Ad Blocking software. I
sell at $5 just contact me if your interested.

Anyway I Personally think their worse than spam. The developers of the
system also developed the blocker which of course costs more than the Ad
software. They got it made. Create a virus and the cure. get money twice.

Now I know this is going to upset some of you. But this FlyinAds program
is already causing me problems.

I did have to laugh when I read how it's being marketed

======================================

Here's what Mark Joyner, #1 best-selling author of
"MindControlMarketing.com" has to say about FlyInAds.com...

"Fly-In Ads are the next big wave in Internet advertising. This
blows away everything else that's out there."

==================================

Does this mean that everyone who has just bought Marks Farewell Package
for a few $100 has just by Marks own words.  bought something that has
already been blown away. Does this mean Mark will be making a refund?

I've been blow away by FlyInAds. Some very nice person has added the
FlyInAds code to a site on my http://www.FreeAutoSurf.com program. which
is against the terms and conditions..but is causing other problems

Can I find it. No. Because it's an exit pop up. and loads long after the
page has disappeared.

Another one is delayed popup's Some of these can be set to pop multiple
popup's up to 30 minutes after you have left their sites. Delete those and
more multiple pop up's arrive up to 30 minutes later.

On my computer. I have virus checkers, filters, firewall and twice now.
software has been uploaded on to my computer. Can I get rid of them or
find them.  No.

The first I did find, and managed to delete it via add remove programs. It
was a porn Dialler. As an act of vengeance. It reset my computer settings
back to factory settings..

The second piece only arrived about a week ago. Now a lot of times  I want
to log in to any site I am a member of  ( lets say my website stats ).  My
IE browser is hi jacked and taken to a porn site.

So it looks like a reformat and start again.

Anyway as you have probably guessed. I am very quickly losing my faith in
network marketing.  Is there any of you that can help restore my faith. If
so Let me know what you can do for me.

What's keeping you going? and what are you hopes and plans?

Let me know what you think email me on

Mike@dailyclassifieds.co.uk?subject=Mike you are so right

Mike@dailyclassifieds.co.uk?subject= Mike You Got It wrong

You may of course reply Via Adland Pro

we will count this as a vote as well on how many are disillusioned as
well. Add your comments on why you voted the way you have. I may include
some comments in a later issue.

A bleached blonde and a natural blonde were on top of the
Empire State Building.

How do you tell them apart?

The bleached blonde would never throw bread to the
