Create a new niche for a current product. You
can set yourself apart from your competition by
creating a niche. Your product could be faster,
bigger, smaller, or quicker than you competitor's
product. For example, if you sell downloadable
software, your niche could be that it downloads
faster than your leading competitor's.


2) Add On To It

Add on to an existing product. You could package
your current product with other related products.
For example, you could package a football with a
team jersey and football cards. Another example,
you could package flowers with greeting cards, gifts,
candy, etc.


3) Create A New Market

You could create a new market for your existing
product. For example, if you're selling plastic bottles
to a pop company, you could turn around and sell
those bottles to a fruit drink company. For example,
if you are selling an e-book about dating tips, you
could also sell it at a bulk group rate to online dating
web sites.


4) Combine It With Others

Combine two or more products together to create
a new one. For example, you could take a briefcase
and add a thermos compartment inside to keep a
drink hot or cold. Another example, you could take
an e-book and link it to a related online message
board.

In response to Cathy Wagner's post (issue # 354)

Cathy, you said that brilliantly. I mean you understand
to perfection the purpose of an autoresponder and
I was most happy to see you providing detailed info
on how to get the message across effectively.

I have just one gripe in reference to your suggestion:
"Your last message might talk about how other herbal
companies do not actually use the part of the plant that
they say they do, along with your company's quality
control procedures to reassure prospects that your
products are the best."

You should NEVER trash your competitors. I know
that plenty of people do it but two blacks don't make
a white. It does not make people think your products
are better and it will harm your credibility. It's more
than enough to point out that your company does
use the correct part of the plant without any mention
of your competition.

Just as an example, McDonalds extol the virtues of
their food products, specials, and fast service, but
when have you seen them make any reference to
Burger King, Wendy's, or whoever?

Just tell the story as though you have no competition
and you will gain all the credibility you deserve.

Hi Shadrick!

I'm sure you will receive many answers with many different theories about
how to get started and what will work or not work. The truth is that what
will work is a combination of the content and offer(s) you have in your
site, the amount of work you put in on actually promoting it and the
amount of money you have available to spend in advertising.
I suggest that Search Engine placement under your preferred keywords
should be your very first consideration - it's worth spending a little
money to get this job done correctly if you don't know how yourself.
Beyond that, each marketer has their favorite do's and don'ts about how to
proceed from there. My own favorite is building and opt-in list and
advertising to that after having taken some time to build up a good
relationship.
The most important thing is to find out what works for YOU and to stick
with it. A good ad tracker will help you figure out what works best.
Just a few suggestions... you will get many more. Roll up your sleeves and
get ready to work!

Think before you spend your money.

I wish you had given us your URL. You are new and without seeing your web
site,
my first question is will it produce the desired results once you get it
noticed?

If you created your site yourself, I am sure you believe that it is ready,
but
you can't be sure without testing. If you pay to drive thousands of people
to a
web site that doesn't do it's job, you will be wasting your money.

Next you have to think about ad copy. Again, without testing, you could
spend
money on advertising that will get you nowhere.

There are free ways to have your site reviewed (right here in Adland
Digest for
one) and test ad copy.

I won't tell you that you will make your fortune using free advertising,
but you
can learn a lot and save a lot of money by using free methods to test ad
campaigns before you spend money on them.

Yes Shadrick,

Free Marketing is possible.

When I started out, I used startpages. It's what most programs tell you to
do, so it's where you will find newbie marketers, if that's your target
audience. Effort pays - the weeks I went really hard on the pages were the
weeks I did get signups. Casual clicking does nothing.

Lately I am targeting search engines. Although PPC will get you a fast
response, I'm so tight I have never used it. I got lucky this month. I
created a site at the end of June, optimized it, swapped links with about
30 related sites, and submitted it to Google in the first week of July. I
must have got in just before the spiders, as I had a page 1 listing for my
title - A Get Paid Site -  by the middle of July. (Stupidly I forgot to
optimize the other pages of my site for different keywords, so will have
to wait till next month for results on those pages.) It can be done.

To organise myself, I put what I have learnt about free marketing on my
own website in my signature. (Yeah, I know it uses frames, but I just felt
like it for a change - at least I only have to change one page when I add
new subjects).

Shadrick, your questions are too generic, you need to be
more specific.  You say you are a newbie and want your
page to get noticed.  What kind of webpage is it, an
affiliate site, a personal site, a bizops related site,
a site about flowers, a site about pets, do you see
where I am going here.

Who are your target markets, and if you say everybody
with an email address?, you are bound for failures.
You have the opportunity to avoid the same mistakes
that thousands have made before.  You did the right
thing in asking questions to a knowledgeable group.

You should educate yourself first, by reading as many
ebooks as possible related to your questions, visit
as many forums as you can and read any relevant info.
Adtactics has an excellent forum relating to marketing
in general and Delphi forums is also good place to
go.

Free advertising in my experience will you give limited
results, but it's great way to test your ad copy or
headlines.  Don't expect a flood of highly targeted
traffic to your site when using free ads.

The first ebook I recommend is gorilla internet
marketing by Glen Cannady.  He has applied the same
search engine tactics that everyone have heard before.
His website seems to always in top 3 in major search
engine search results when you do a search under "car
wax", his site (5starshine.com) is No. 1 in google
right now and has been there for a while.  This ebook
sells for $30 bucks but I can give it to you for free,
just email me.

ever found for bringing hits to your site for free is joining MPAM for a
crash course in free (and even paid, if you want) internet marketing. It

even getting efficient hits from FFA pages. There isn't a better program
for free advertising, and when you want to go into hyperdrive with your
business, there's a paid version too. Far and away, whether you have money

Well, it might help if we could see your site...

There are many ways of getting traffic to a Website, some are free and
some are not. But without being able to see your site, it's hard to advise
you what to do.

Just a guess, but generally speaking, the best free traffic that's
targeted, will come from the Search Engines. But that means getting your
site listed high enough so people looking for whatever it is you want them
to find will find it.

And there are always Classified ad sites, like Adland...

Oh, and just a word about all the free traffic sites, you will get
traffic, but depending on what your site is about, will you benefit or
just eat away your bandwidth?

But to best help you out, could you post a link?

after visiting your site?, this guy wants to get rich
quick.

I was looking for some credibility about you, or your
company or your business and I couldn't find it. I do
love your color scheme and overall design but you need
to do alot of work if you want people to take you
seriously.  I couldn't find an email address or phone
number if I had any questions about your service.

Maybe you should tell people exactly how or where you
are going to get your traffic from.

You should also provide some unbiased, unpaid
testimonials from many satisfied customers, but maybe
because your site is brand new you don't have them yet,
but it will add more credibility to your business.

On the right hand side of your page where it says
compare our prices, it's lower than your competition?
I tried clicking that, but it's not clickable, boy did
I feel dumb...lol

You should show a side by side comparison between your
competitors prices and yours, the more the better.

You should open your wallet and start spending money
on overture because that's where professional mlm
marketers look to buy good leads or in your case website
traffic.  That's where I also look to buy leads as well
because when people spend money on their business, it
shows me that they are serious.

advice, but here goes...

Richard, this is your Meta Description tag now:

"Cheap affordable way to get Massive amounts of traffic to your
website.Good quality traffic,paypal enabled and secure."

And these are your Key Words now:

"web site,website,site traffic,page hits"

What is the one good Key Word in your description? "traffic"

And what are the good Key Word phrases in your Description" "traffic to
your website" and "good quality traffic."

But let's look at the copy on your site:

GOOD QUALITY, FAST, EFFICIENT

Right there, that should be your Meta Description tag. "We will send
Traffic to your site, Guaranteed. We supply Traffic. Good quality, fast
efficient, guaranteed traffic.

And your Key words should be taken from the copy on the site and in the
description tag... traffic to your site, guaranteed, traffic, quality
traffic, high quality traffic, get traffic, internet marketing,

You might even think about what other search terms people might use when
looking for your business, and include them in your sales copy and your
Meta tags.

Think about what else you can say about your business and the service you
provide and how you provide it, and write some more copy using Key words
and phrases as much as possible without sounding forced.

I for one would want to know how you are going to get traffic to my site,
before I plop down the cash. You have only one other page that I can see
to this site and that's the order page.

You expect us to just hand you over the money, based only on your word
that it's guaranteed. You don't even lay out your guarantee. You don't
tell us who you are or where you are or why we should trust you with our
money.

Tell us who you are, something about how you get traffic, where it comes
from and lay out your guarantee. Give us a way to contact you, a FAQ page
would be helpful. If you have Real Testimonials, place them on the site,
with names and sites or contact information.

Really, this site as it sits now is incomplete, it needs work if you
expect anyone but a trusting Newbie to give you money.

Hi Cathy and everyone else,
I took a moment and clicked over to your newest business venture. I hope
that you're not hanging up on everything else. You remind me a bit of me,
something new, but useable, can go a long way in helping you meet your
goals.

As far as this site:
1. The Contact Us page does not open in the frame, it opens in a new
window. That's a poor beginners mistake, but why didn't you check that
yourself? Getting lazy?
2. Why are you using frames at all? They really don't look too good in
either of the sizes I checked your site at 800x600 or 1024x768. But that
might just be me. I hate frames on websites, even if I am forced to use
them myself once in a while. But I usually do that to hide an affiliate
url, like at http://www.lackofinterest.com . Hehehe
3. Free sample offer... now this may be nitpicking (some will say it's
what I do best!) but the wording should be "To receive your free
sample..." NOT "To order your free sample..." The change is small, but it
pits less emphasis on a cost and more on FREE, which is what you want,
right? And you don't say how big the free sample is, I would.
4. You should have a newsletter and offer a free regular sample in a
monthly draw as a way to get to the people that are interested but may not
buy yet. As your site is now, one click and you've forever lost them. The
newsletter could feature testimonials, links... you know what I mean, so
do it.
5. I could go on and on, but that's MY business... eh?

I think you have the beginnings of a good site, get rid of the frames and
fine tune the copy and you may have a winner. Of course I may just be
thinking of a different market than you are, who knows.
I don't think you're selling the "sizzle" enough and you have too much
steak.

Paul,

I noticed no one reviewed your site from your request in Adland 352.

I'm not sure why no one did, but I might be able to guess. It's a very
nice site, well thought out, and easy to get around. You've laid it out
well and maybe they just couldn't think of anything to say about it.

The only thing I can say is that it does take a while to load on a dial up
connection. But once that nice picture on the top of the page loads and
you click around the rest of the site, there's no problem. The only thing
I would do is to see if there's a way you can get the Home page to load
faster for the first time visitor.

Good luck with the site, you've done a good job with it.

You've built a nice site, clean and offering the right amount of
information. It even looks like a good product. And the site helps the
visitor learn about it and see what it has done.

One thing I will mention though, is your use of a Frame. Search Engines
don't like these things, it's hard to Key word each page when you are
using a frame. Because the frame is part of the site, but not the page
content, if you see what I mean. Not that search engines are using Key
words the way they use to, but now you have two sets of Meta tags on each
page, and the engine might grab a link to the center page and forget the
frame, and then you've lost that frame with it's heading and navigation
links.

So, if I were you, I would redo the site without the frame. I think you
will get better results from the search engines.

Is it really wise to follow just one Internet Guru?

A friend of mine "a well known Internet marketer" whose opinion I value
very highly, recently told me that he believed "in order to succeed on the
net, one must find a single guru and follow their advice exclusively".  I
thought about it for a while  and I must say "I beg differ".

Why?

The Internet encompasses so many facets.  There are just too many
different ways of making money that following just only one guru could be
detrimental to one's overall success.  You won't make much money if any on
the Internet by doing just one thing.  You must wear more than one hat and
sell more than one product if you really want to be in the position of
making any real money in the long run.  So, that being the case, why would
you only follow one Internet guru?

I feel the only thing that you should be single minded about when it comes
to your internet business is to find as many ways to get FREE traffic to
your site and to be as creative in writing as possible in  your web ad
copy to help you pull in the most sales.

No one guru has all the answers to all aspects of each of your internet
businesses.  At each stage of the business, you need to seek out a guru
for that area and move on to the next guru to accomplish the next task.
Knowing thyself is the key here.  If you don't, you'll flounder from here
to eternity and you won't get anything done or at the very least you won't
make much money.

So, how do you go about spotting a guru for the many different aspects of
your internet businesses?  You learn how by reading about and by using
their products.  If their products do not meet your needs, *do not*
hesitate to return it.  You are in this business to make money! So don't
be shy to return the product that you deem inferior or unsuitable to what
you are trying to achieve particularly at the current stage of your
business cycle.

Drawing from my own experience while writing reviews for many different
gurus on the Internet, I believe there are 5 main areas you need to find a
guru for:

1- Web ad copy writing skills
2- Search Engines FREE traffic conversion skills
3- Affiliates program selections and/or guidance skills
4- Website designs and optimization skills
5- Ezines advertisement, announcement and writing ad skills

Basically, that's about it!

The product cycles should be something like this:

1- Brainstorm ideas based on your passions or skills.  Ask yourself this
question, what do you love to do?
2- Author your own product or find someone else who has that product and
sign up to be their affiliate.
3- Created 2 page minisite to sell that product. Even if you are an
affiliate for someone else -- do not make the mistake just to link to
their sales page. They profit from that, not you.  Write your own page and
lead your customers to the other sales page once you think your customers
are in the frame of mind to buy.
4- Find Joint Ventures partners if it is your own product and you need
financial or technical help.
5- Either write 6-7 auto responders for your product - or give a free
report to capture your visitor's email address.
6- Find keywords for your product.
7- Insert those keywords into your web copy.
8- Write articles for your products.
9- Send those articles to as many ezines owners as you can.
10-Watch search engines to see where your pages land.
11- Rewrite your web copy if you get no sales.
12- Redo step 5 until your pages land on the first page of the main search
engines (Google, All The Web, Yahoo, Fast ...)

Keep repeating the same thing for each of the products you want to sell.
Make this into a systematic approach by check marking each step as you go
along.  By doing this you will stay focused and you are less likely too
scatter your energy into too many different directions.

It's pointless to buy any marketing "how to" tools unless they provide you
with specific answers to your current marketing plan.  Better yet, why
don't you write me and ask me to write you a review for the product you
seek.  For each product I perform a very in-depth analysis for product I
review.  This way, you'll know for sure if the product you're considering
will help you further along while attempting to market your product.

If you follow those 12 steps as I've outlined for you above, I am sure you
can't go wrong.  You may not succeed with your first product, but, if you
persevere and continue to shell out products that you love, you will
eventually make the money you seek.

I sincerely believe that selling only 1 product on the Internet is not the
way to make money.  You need to diversify.  Sit down and write out
everything thing that you love to do and either create your own products
or buy products from someone else.

Additionally, I advise that you purchase the product and use it  yourself
before trying to signup as an affiliate.  Ask yourself this question?
Would you buy this from someone who knows absolutely nothing about the
products that they're trying to sell you or do you want to buy them from
an expert?  We all love to follow an expert -- so either you become one or
link to one.
