================== Word from Moderator ====================

Welcome to the 869 new subscribers since last week..

Hi there,

Thankfully, this weeks Digest is a little shorter then last weeks
monster. We're going to try and get a new one out every 5 days
or so for the foreseeable future. So be looking for it and get your
replies and posts in early.

The Community Naming Contest is going great and Bogdan has
some good ones to choose from, but we'd like to keep it open
one more week and see if anyone has a brain storm or two. So,
see what you can come up with. If more then one stands out and
Bogdan can't make up his mind, we'll post them next time and
you can vote for the Name you like the best.

One more thing I'd like to mention, if you really want to make it
in this online Marketing game, then you have to plan ahead, plan
that it's going to take a while and cost something. Both time and
money. So Plan for it.

And plan for some learning time. You're just getting started and
you don't know everything, so take you're time and learn what
you need to know first.

** Announcing a Contest to Name the Adland Community **

****** Last Chance to Enter ******

As you may know, Bogdan Fiedur has created a Community for us all to play
in, and it is time to think of a NEW Name, so he is asking all of you to
put on your thinking caps and come up with ideas.

Oh, and there is a Prize to the one who comes up with a Name we can use.

*** $100 ***

The winning name must be able to be registered, that is it must be an
available domain name that we can register. So start thinking..

This Community is mostly for marketers and promoters like ourselves. But
who knows what the future will bring.

If you need some idea of what can be done within the Community, Here are
some links: This will give you an idea of what is available,

http://www.adlandpro.com/directad/
And here are some profiles already created by some.

available to be used as a domain name.

Subject: Product pricing

Adrian Elman Said

"In particular I liked his comment about pricing and wish
to add that markets are not determined by equal pricing.
Every product having competitors will have a broad
price range. You will find cheap and you will find medium
but you will also find expensive. This does not mean that
the latter is always a guarantee of higher quality but in
general the consumer thinks it does hence there will be
no shortage of high priced products vying for customers
who believe they are buying the best"

Adrian, You forget that high priced products in this day in age is a
very hard sell.

1) People today look for the best possible bargain when it comes to
shopping.

2) Since there are cut backs and down sizing in the corporate world.
People cannot afford to buy the most expensive merchandise and they will
buy it.

You can argue price differences till your blue in the face, but that is
not going to change what is or was said on the Ripoff Report, MLM Survivor
or any other site that exposes fraud. However, if a company has a history
of selling bad products and a ridiculous high price. Or sold products that
make people sick. Not to mention using sneaky billing practices with
spreading lies and misinformation to sell their product by hyping it to
the max. I can guarantee they most people will avoid it like the plague.

Welcome Terri!

You will like Adland Pro :)

I know that it's very confusing when you first start working on the
Internet. I have only 2 suggestions to give you:

1. Give yourself time to learn and don't become discouraged if you don't
see immediate results. Think of it as a training period you are giving
yourself.

2. Find ONE marketing method that you feel comfortable with and work
hard at mastering it. Don't spread yourself too thin trying to follow
every new suggestion that comes along. After you have mastered the first
method you can stick with it or move on depending on how well the first
one worked for you.

Best of luck,
Amalia Sotiriadou

I have been a member of Empowerism for a few months now and have learnt
quite a bit from their training center.

Recently they started a lead buy program where you get double your money
back. My question is can this be done successfully and if so how can
they do it?

Is this all hype? Will this be another money loosing system, like sooo
many around?

The site to check it out is at

Thank you in advance.

From: Geoff Dodd
Subject: Viral Affiliate Programs?

Hi Bogdan  / John,

I'm sure that your readers will be interested
to hear of a new concept that is coming fast
to NetMarketing:  Viral Affiliate Programs.

This has me really impressed. Imagine you join
a bundle of top rated 2 tier affiliate programs,
then you can promote the whole bundle virally,
at once, by displaying a strip of ads quite like
Google's AdSense boxes, in varying shapes, sizes,
colors and layouts.

Site visitors can choose whether they click on a
product image that interests them, or join the viral
program and sign up for the 2 tier affiliate programs.

Bogdan, this has got to have a bright future, as long
as 2 tier programs remain viable, but personally I
think it will rejuvenate 2 tier affiliate programs.

It's the same old story - you gotta have the numbers
and work in the thousands to make the Net work!

That's my 2 cents worth for June '04.

Geoff,

I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth, which is one of the reasons I
included your post. I like to know what I'm buying. And I don't want to
represent something I don't need or want. And that's the problem with
programs like the one you describe.

Someone might like one or two of the products or programs being
offered, but not care about the rest. But they have to promote it all.

I'd like to know everyone else's thoughts on this kind of strategy.

Subject: Greetings and feedback

Greetings everyone!

I'm new to the list and I thought I'd chime in with my request for
feedback.

I've determined my target to be single women over thirty that are
comfortable using the internet but not especially tech savvy, though not
afraid of technology either. I have just launched my campaign to reach
them. And I'd really appreciate any help you can offer.

I'm currently searching for ad swap opportunities with publications or
websites that have the attention of my target market. Any suggestions?

Also, I'm using my blog to distribute my ezine. While I think it will
help increase my exposure I am working to overcome the loss of lead
captures. Has anyone else used this blogger strategy and what was your
experience?

Thanks in advance I look forward to learning from everyone.

All the best,
Y. Dubel

Affiliates beware the bait and switch
By Robert Lee

Have you ever gone into a retail store looking for that advertised super
deal on a stereo, a TV or whatever and been told that it's out of stock,
of poor quality or some other excuse then encouraged to buy a more
expensive item? That's called the bait and switch tactic. You're enticed
into the store. And sold something that you didn't originally come to the
store for. Affiliates are subject to this all the time and most aren't
even aware of it.

When you're an affiliate you are advertising for another business (using
banners) or enticing your web site visitors to visit another website to
make a purchase (textual recommendations) to earn a fee. In this age of
the Internet, you're not being paid by the visitor sent (by the click),
you're paid a commission of a direct sale.

And you may be losing out.

It's an understood retail reality that it takes 6 to 8 customer visits
before you can get the sale. 6 to 8 customer approaches before a
commitment is made. 6 to 20 days before a high priced ticket item is
purchased.

Online affiliates are encouraged to advertise for businesses because of
cookie duration and high commission percentages.

But beware.

Cookies can easily be erased. Any web surfer that is concerned about
their online privacy probably has a stealth program or other track eraser
that will eliminate even the longest duration cookie. They may just go
into their Tools -  Internet Options regularly and erase the cookies on
their computer. After all, a file is a file and you have no protection
what someone does with their own computer. You have more protection if
the cookie is tied to an email address and a potential customer must login
to browse and your affiliate link/cookie combination is tied to that
login.
But our bigger concern is the bait and switch.

Do you follow your affiliate links through to the shopping cart payment
page?

Are products, items and memberships being swapped for something else
that you earn no commission on?

Are more enticing product/membership/website ads being placed on the
page you send your visitor clicks to at no commissionable payment to you?
I have witnessed many sites that have highly rated payouts for their
affiliate programs and the landing pages for the affiliate links have
ads that encourage off-site clicks that generate no revenue for the
affiliate.

I am (and you are) being ripped off by such actions.

This is your wake up call: you have content that attracts people to your
web site. You have visitors that are worth an income to you. You have
search engine positioning on key words and terms that are valuable, yet
you give it all away when you direct a visitor of your web site to a
page that has a banner, a recommendation, or a testimonial that ends up
earning you no revenue but that the affiliate program owner earns revenue
as a direct result of that visit.

My advice to you is:

1. Follow your affiliate links. Be sure they include no non-revenue
earning links attributable to your site referral.

2. Complain about the affiliate programs you belong to that have other
site and non-revenue producing links on your landing page to checkout
page path.

3. Remove those links from your website and find others that will earn
you a fair return on your hard work.

4. Start now.

My fellow affiliates, I wish you traffic increasing, revenue generating
and successful content creating for the rest of your online business
life.

=====================Joke of the Day (1)===============

The start of One of Those Days.

Since I was the first to arrive at our high-tech company
one morning, I answered the telephone.  When the
caller asked for field engineering, I explained that it
was before normal business hours, but that I would
help if I could. 'What's your job there?' the caller
asked me.

'I'm the company president,' I replied.

There was a pause.  Then he said, 'I'll call back
later. I need to talk to someone who knows something.'
